We have all seen it, people are visiting your website but for some reason seem to leave soon after without making a purchase. So how can you avoid this from happening or at least reduce it. There will always be a percentage of people who leave your website without buying, just the same if you had a store and people just came in and browsed and left without buying anything.

The trick here is you need to be able to analysis visitor behaviour on your website and act accordingly. If you don’t then you are just shooting in the dark. The best thing to do is first setup some analytical software on your website. There are many available but the best I would say is Google analytics it’s free and very compressive.

Once you have this installed and after a couple of weeks you will be able to analysis your visitor behaviour and you can even setup conversion goals. What conversion goals do is track how many people purchase from your website and from here you can backtrack and see what makes them buy. For example you can see what keyphrases are converting. If you find a keyphrase is converting well then you would want to optimise your website more to focus on this particular keyphrase.

You can also analysis on what page people are leaving your website if this was on one of your pages which dealt with the ordering process for example then you can deduce that something on this page wasn’t clear or perhaps it wasn’t easy to use.

A search bar on your website is a must not only does it help website visitors locate easily your products which can be a problem on large sites. It also can be great to analysis this data and see what people are actually looking for, perhaps it’s a product that you don’t currently stock.
If there is enough demand for it then perhaps its time you stocked it.

If you’re looking for an ecommerce web design and you want it to as usable as possible then check this website out. They also offer great search engine optimisation services.

Finally you should also make the most important information on your website easy to locate as this can frustrate visitors and can lead them to leave your website. Remember your competition is only a click away. One thing that most websites don’t do is test there content and site architecture so if you remember to do this then your website will always be in a state of improvement.
