Clinical Negligence and Michael Jackson

Clinical negligence relates to many different types of people who are skilled and work in the medical profession, helping to maintain your health and safety. This can relate to doctors, consultants, nurses, dentists the ambulance service and even the ‘National Health System' as a whole. It is expected that anyone who works in this profession, has been trained to a high standard of care and so anything less that is practised on the general public is not acceptable and therefore should not go unnoticed.

One recent and very famous incident of clinical negligence has arisen in the media, concerning the death of ‘Michael Jackson'. Reports suggest that the doctor called out to help save Michael Jackson at the time of his reported heart attack committed a serious form of clinical/medical negligence. It is said that the doctor, instead of giving Michael Jackson ‘CPR' on a hard surface and in the correct medical position, practised ‘CPR' on the bed, which evidently was not a secure surface and would not of had the same effect. Because the doctor was highly skilled it seems this type of action was unexplainable and cannot easily be passed as a mistake because many un skilled people learn general ‘CPR' through the basics of general ‘Health and Safety' courses. This case is still being researched; however it is a prime example of a common case of clinical negligence.
