After the birth of our first child we talked about making a will and the various options for advice on how to write a will. However, like a lot of people I guess we never actually got round to making a will for either of us, until the birth of our second child.

We thought then that this was the time when we just had to do something about making a will. There are quite a few good web sites now you can go to for information on making a will like www.onlinewill.co.uk and some information from places you wouldn't expect, like charities who perhaps would like you to make a will leaving some legacy or gift to them. It certainly made us think that when we did make a will we should leave something to charity as well, maybe a Baby charity like Babylifeline. That of course got us onto the subject of making a will and naming a legal guardian for our children.

It's one of those subjects you can spend hours arguing about ..making a will and naming a guardian sounds simple but it does need talking through. WE thought Ok lets name my sister and my wife's brother as guardians. However as soon as we started writing all this down in preparation for making a will, you realise that actually what are the practicalities of appointing two people whom live 100 miles apart and whose "other" partners" don't actually get on with each other and also live totally different lives to us. So making a will and appointing guardians for the children was not quite that easy.

I have a blog which highlights the importance of Will writing and covers the reasons as to why one should write a Will. It was stated that over 70% of the UK population do not have a Will, therefore i set out to create a source of information online to assist those that do not have a Will and point the reasons as to why you should write a Will.
