Drink Driving Advice

We are only human... and humans tend to do stupid things sometimes. If you are stopped in your car and found to be slightly over the limit then you are going to want proper legal advice. The good news is there are solicitors who specialise in cases that involve motoring and drink driving offences. These are obviously going to be the best people to speak to if you find yourself in this sort of situation.

But it isn't just drink driving offences that they are used to dealing with. A lot of cases they handle are to do with speeding fines. Thousands of people receive penalties each year in Britain for driving too fast, but a lot of the time it is only by a few miles per hour.

If you are exceeding the speed limit by a matter of four or five miles per hour, and you are stopped by a police officer, then the chances are (unless he is being unnecessarily pedantic) that you are let you off with a warning. However, if you drive past a speed camera in a similar situation then you will automatically be issued with a fixed penalty. This seems a little unfair somehow, especially when there are people getting away with driving around at colossal speeds all the time... This is when it can be very useful to get in touch with a speeding lawyer.

Another factor to consider is that all speedometers vary to some degree and you may be driving around quite happily without even realising you are breaking the law. If you have a Sat Nav that tells you your speed, then the chances are that it will differ slightly to your speedometer; how are you to know which of the readouts is the right one?

Every Christmas there are even more people charged with drink driving offences than normal. It may be ‘the season to be merry' but you should still use your common sense. If you know you are over the limit then you shouldn't even consider getting behind the wheel of your car. But, saying this, there are a lot of times where we have a drink and genuinely think that we are still alright to drive. The alcohol content of some drinks is higher than we realise and it is an easy mistake to make.

Another common way that people end up being charged with drink driving offences is by having so much alcohol in their system they are still over the limit when they get in the car the next day. This can be the result of drinking a larger amount than normal, staying up and drinking especially late... or a mixture of the two.

We all need to take care on the roads as there are already plenty of accidents without us adding to the problem; but if we do find ourselves in trouble with the law then it is good to know which solicitors are the best ones to deal with drink driving offences.
