If you're single you should make a WillSubmitted by markhincks@live.com Tue, 30 Jun 2009
If you are not married and single or you are with a partner then you should contemplate making a will. Making a will ensures that things are then easier for those who might have to deal with your estate when you die. Many singles do not think making a will is really worth while or required, especially when you are younger because they may feel that they have nothing to leave but you must remember that many young single people have built up a fair amount of wealth so making a will becomes necessary.
Most people nowadays don't rush into marriage like they may have done years ago and people now have to be a lot more prepared for all sorts of new things such as travel, so many people in the 20's and even early 30's are and have to be flexible as far as employment locality and living is concerned. So making a willl may not be a priority especially if you are single or have no children and don't own a house. However, if you do own property and even with a hefty mortgage you will also have life cover in place. So in the event of your death the mortgage is repaid and the property becomes part of your estate and of course the car you own has a value and the life cover your company has on you all will form part of your estate so making a will is important no matter how old or your whether you are single or not. As you start making a will one of the first questions to ask is not what have I built up to leave to someone but really who is there behind that I would really like benefit from whatever I leave right now. Who would you want to benefit form your current assests. In a couple of years time of course you might want in any event to think about making a will again as your circumstances may well have altered but as a single person it is remarkable what you might just have in your estate and of course making a will now and making provisions for your "cat" or "dog" may seem daft but including their care in your will writing might just mean you feel better and have some peace of mind.
I have a blog which highlights the importance of Will writing and covers the reasons as to why one should write a Will. It was stated that over 70% of the UK population do not have a Will, therefore i set out to create a source of information online to assist those that do not have a Will and point the reasons as to why you should write a Will.
