If you are single that is not married or with a partner then you should consider making a will to at least make it easier for those who might have to deal with your estate. Many single people do not think making a will is really necessary, especially when you are younger but many young single people have accumulated some wealth so maybe making a will is necessary.

People don't rush to marry like they did years ago and people have to be prepared to travel so many people in the 20's and even early 30's are and have to be flexible as far as employment location and living is concerned. So making a will is maybe not a top priority especially if you are single, no children and don't own a house. However, if you do own a house/flat or apartment and even with a hefty mortgage you will also have life cover in place. So in the event of your death the mortgage is repaid and the property becomes part of your estate and of course the car you own has a value and the life cover your company has on you all will form part of your estate so making a will is important no matter how old or your marital status.

As you commence making a will one of the first questions to ask is not what have I accumulated to leave to someone but really who is there that I would like to benefit from whatever I leave right now. In a few years time of course you might want in any event to consider making a will again as your circumstances may well have altered but as a single person it is remarkable what you might just have in your estate and of course making a will now and making provisions for your "cat" or "dog" may seem daft but including their care in your will writing might just mean you feel better and have some peace of mind.

I have a blog which highlights the importance of Will writing and covers the reasons as to why one should write a Will. It was stated that over 70% of the UK population do not have a Will, therefore i set out to create a source of information online to assist those that do not have a Will and point the reasons as to why you should write a Will.
