There are many people who hardly ever favor the concept of regulation due to the mistaken assumption that regulations and the like are simply part of red tape and compulsory moderation. It does not help that some people who enforce regulatory principles informally tend to abuse their power - either withholding or failing to explain the regulations and standards that are posted by law. More often than not, this is done so that they would be able to hold as much power as they can for as long as possible, and this unfortunately hurts rather than helps the cause of regulatory board and other regulatory agencies.

The fact of the matter is, regulatory agencies update and modify the rules for standards and quality in commerce and public goods so that people will be able to enjoy their lives without having to worry about experiencing adverse effects from inferior products or services. The fact of the matter is, regulatory agents are there to HELP us rather than impede anyone at all. They are safeguards rather than shackles.

That being said, involvement in anything regulatory is no laughing matter. A person with a career in regulatory enforcement is expected to have the right kind of training, constantly-updated knowledge of the regulations in question, the type of personality that best suits regulatory-type management. In other words, being in regulation takes a lot of hard work, and that work is pretty much keeping us safe and secure with the products that we are using. Given all this, it's hardly fair that we condemn regulatory boards as stuffy people who don't know how to have fun - after all, they're that way so that we CAN have fun.
