Child Outdoor Play Sets Recalled Due to Fall Hazard

Submitted by CBman
Wed, 17 Jun 2009

Nearly 4,300 out door child gym sets, sold exclusively at Toys"R"Us, have been recalled due to a fall hazard. The May 28, 2009 recall, announced by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPS), warns consumers to discontinue use of the defective swing sets immediately.
What Out Door Play Sets Were Recalled?

The product name is Step2 Play Up Gym play sets, sold exclusively at Toys"R"Us. The voluntary recall involves nearly 4,300 items. The play sets, manufactured by The Step2 Company, LLC of Streetsboro, Ohio, were sold in Toys"R"Us stores, nationwide from January 2009 to April 2009 for approximately $400.
What is the Basis of the Recall?

The child play set recall is based on the fact that the triangular hangers that attach the swing's ropes to the upper rail of the play set are faulty and can break easily. If this happens, children can fall and injure themselves.
Do You Own a Faulty Play Set?

If you or someone you know owns a recalled Step2 Play Up Gym, the CPSC advises you to discontinue use immediately and contact The Step2 Company, LLC for a replacement.
How to Tell If Your Play Set is Defective

If you are unsure whether your outdoor play set is one of the recalled products, it is best to discontinue use until you are certain it is not defective. Following is a product description of the Step2 Play Up Gyms:

All recalled Step2 Play Up Gyms include the following:

* Platform
* Climber
* Slide area
* Two swings
* Model number: 797300
* Red "Step2" logo plate is attached to the front of the play set

For more information about the defective outdoor gym sets, contact Step2 directly at (800) 347-8372 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit their Website at www.step2.com.
Has You Child Been Injured by a Defective Toy?

If so, you are entitled to seek monetary compensation from the manufacturer.
