Hotel Struck By Food Poisoning Fears Bout Of No Win No Fee Claims

Submitted by Carys

A hotel in the Dominican Republic which has repeatedly been under fire after various outbreaks of food poisoning is being brought to justice as guests prusue no win no fee action.

The Riu Mambo complex in Puerto Plata has been the centre of a number of investigations into outbreaks of food poisoning over the last three years.

Travel law solicitor Andrew Morton pledges to fight for justice for holidays makers who have suffered from poor management at this hotel:

“Holidaymakers returning from the Riu Mambo hotel in Puerto Plata are complaining they have suffered severe bouts of sickness and diarrhoea which they suspect was caused by eating contaminated food. We are investigating the complaints and suspect it is a repeat of the same type of outbreak at the same hotel complex experienced in previous years.”

He adds that since 2005 he and his team have led a number of successful cases against the Hotel and its sister hotels the Riu Merengue and the Riu Bachata on behalf of holidaymakers who have had their holiday ruined.

Commenting on the past no win no fee cases he says “2005 was the biggest outbreak, but the next two years also saw a significant number of complaints and it looks depressingly like the same pattern is occurring again.

“People are returning from the Dominican Republic with stories of having their dream holidays ruined because of poor standards of hygiene and inadequate food preparation at their hotels.

“To add insult to injury, they are often told by their tour operator representatives that they are suffering from a virus they brought in themselves and it is only when they talk to other similarly affected guests that they realise the problem lies with the hotel.”
