Injury claims as a pedestrianSubmitted by artavia.seo Wed, 16 Sep 2009
It's interesting to note that most traffic related pedestrian accidents and deaths occur between the hours of four pm and eight pm and seventy nine percent of them happen at non intersection locations. This means that most pedestrian injuries or fatalities happen because the pedestrian is J-walking. If you are injured while J-walking, your chances of getting any compensation is dubious.
A recent survey showed that in residential neighborhoods, drivers violated stop signs almost on a constant basis, some rolling to an almost stop and others just driving right straight through without slowing down, pedestrians have a strong chance of being injured in these situations. Injuries here are not likely to be fatal however they can range in seriousness. If a pedestrian is hit in this situation, they have a strong case for medical and financial compensation. Unfortunately, many injuries happen while crossing cross walks, especially on heavily traveled urban roadways. Again, injuries are generally not fatal but can range in severity from bumps and bruises to broken bones and hospital visits. Traffic accidents involving pedestrians that are within a crosswalk and not crossing against the light are very actionable. The driver of the vehicle should and would be held accountable for any compensation you may be entitled to. If you have been a victim of these sorts of accidents, the very first thing you will want to do is go to the doctor. Whether you are feeling injured or not, you will want to be fully checked out. You will need to keep a strong paper trail of your doctor visits and anything else that pertains to the accident. The stronger the records the more likely you will receive the compensation you deserve. Don't be shy or embarrassed. If you've been injured you will want to make sure that your injuries are fully taken care of and any financial damages you incurred are taken care of. There is a time limit in order to file your suit in order to be successful so you will want to file as soon as possible. You will want to enter all of your documentation into the court case and you will especially want to make sure that you contract with an attorney knowledgeable in your type of case, who will represent you to the fullest extent. You may want to consider an attorney on a contingency basis, however if you do that, you will want to make sure you understand exactly what the contingency entails. About the Author
