Personal Injury Solicitor Raises Money with Daring StuntSubmitted by Carys Sun, 8 Jun 2008
Phil Edwards, partner at personal injury firm Irwin Mitchell took part in a daring stunt to raise money for road safety charity BRAKE.
An avid Albion fan, Mr Edwards went to the home of rivals Birmingham City where he took part in a sponsored zipwire abseil while dressed as a zebra. He shot across the stadium at speeds of 60 miles per hour. Mr Edwards took part in a similar brave act two years ago when he did a skydive, also to raise money for BRAKE. In his position as a personal injury lawyer, Mr Edwards deals daily with people who have been injured in car accidents or lost loved ones as a result of dangerous driving. This spurred him on to raise money for BRAKE. A colleague at his personal injury firm in Birmingham spoke of Mr Edwards kind heart and sense of humour saying that “Phil dressed up as Zak the Zebra, the mascot for BRAKE. He was hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for the charity.” “'He decided to help BRAKE because in the course of his job Phil deals with many families who have seen people injured or killed in road accidents.” He added finally that “We know that he raised at least £500 for the charity which is close to his heart.”
