Road Traffic Accident Compensation After 17 Years!

Nicki Webber was only 9 years old at the time of the accident when she was knocked over by a car while picking chestnuts with her parents on the side of the A631 near Sheffield. She crossed the road on the brow of a hill and was knocked down by a car travelling at 50 mph.

She sustained serious head injuries in the accident and was left in a coma for nearly two months, during which time doctors thought that she would either die or be left in a permanent vegetative state.

Nicki was left severely brain damaged after the accident but has learned to walk again and currently works to promote road safety. However, she will need care and support for the rest of her life and receives regular physiotherapy.

Nicki’s family originally made a claim against the driver in 1996, and on the advice of her legal representatives, the claim was settled for £150,000.

However, her current legal advisors have argued that the original settlement was a fraction of what she should have been entitled too and claimed that the lead barrister who advised her had made an error.

The family then sued their original solicitors and a settlement of £1 million was agreed with no admission of liability on the part of her original legal team.
