Shopping Hazards: Potential Premise Liability Case

Submitted by cballatan

Shopping Malls and commercial establishments are everywhere. In California, you can see commercial stores left and right everywhere you turn.

Going to shopping malls and commercial stores is a fun thing to do. It is a sort of therapy for others who walk around the area and browse around. People do not associate hurt with shopping malls and centers. They go to those places to buy things for themselves, for friends, family and loved ones.

During these happy times, there is no doubt that our guards are down. We rarely think that we could sustain personal injuries while walking around at a shopping mall. Sadly, a lot of people who make that mistake may be badly hurt as a result.

You may not realize it, but there are many hidden dangers inside the malls. Premise liability is frequent in big commercial establishments, which many people frequent.

Malls are often cleaned and maintained to make sure that they look attractive to the public. Mopping, waxing, or polishing the floors is one method of maintaining the cleanliness of any establishment. Unfortunately, not all maintenance personnel care to place warning signs that the floor is slippery or wet. This causes serious personal injuries to its guests.

In un-kept malls, the same story is played repeatedly. People slip and fall not only because of wet or slippery floors, but also because of any object lying on the floor that may cause the person to lose balance and slip when stepped on. Neglect to maintain floor areas also lead to serious injuries for customers.

Aside from slip and fall accidents, trip and fall accidents are also rampant inside the malls. Tangled electric wires, cables, may cause these accidents or even debris and other materials left lying on the shopping mall floors. Many people go to shopping malls to feast their eyes on the products they see on boutique display windows. They are not usually weary of dangers found on shopping mall floors.

Similarly, elevator and escalator malfunctions also lead to serious premise liability accidents. People are trapped in or pinned by elevators. On the other hand, many people also fall from escalators due to abrupt stoppage or unusually fast movement of badly maintained escalators.

When you go to a mall, enjoy and have a good time, but also be very careful of your surroundings. Otherwise, you might become one of the victims with a premise liability case in the offing.
