Whiplash Not 'A Waste Of Time'

Submitted by Saurav

Many people who are involved in car accidents underestimate the consequences of a whiplash injury. They do not pursue the matter legally, believing that a whiplash claim will yield very little in the way of compensation, and so is generally seen as a waste of time and resources.

They could not be more wrong. Not only is a whiplash injury claim necessary but you can be compensated for far more than you might think. Firstly the injury itself should not be trivialised, the effects may be long-term and cause you great unhappiness in the future.

What may seem like a small jolt after a car hits you from behind, could lead to other health problems much later after the event. Numbness around the wreck and nerve endings can slowly manifest themselves and before you know it, writing an email at the computer will seem a painful and herculean task due to the strain of looking at a screen. The fact is that whiplash injuries can seriously impact your quality of life and ability to work and that is why a whiplash compensation claim is something that should be thought about immediately after the accident.

Sadly whiplash or neck injuries have a certain stigma as regards claiming compensation. It is a common injury on our roads and a victim should not believe it is a ‘waste of time’ or that the injury is ‘no big deal’. Far from it, if you have been hurt in an accident that is NOT your fault, then it is your prerogative to claim compensation.

There are diverse types of neck injuries and the most severe cases may leave victims severely disabled and these claims may have a value of £86,500. On the lower end of the scale where only suffer minor pain and discomfort, the amount could be as little as £750. Of course, everyone is different and the disabilities that may result can be different in severity, but the compensation awarded to someone with injuries which give rise to severe disabilities could be in the region of £38,175 to £76,350.

The best advice is that if you have hurt your neck and have suffered whiplash you should be on the lookout for out an accident claims solicitor. Take no regard to the stigma attached, and look for a solicitor that offers free impartial advice and one that has years of experience dealing with accident claims.
