It's bad enough to have a traffic accident, even a minor one, but what do you do if you have a traffic accident while you're working? That's never a good thing. Not only can it be a problem for your driving record, insurance, and financial situation, as well as your health and safety, but it can also jeopardize your job. Most employers don't take kindly to their employees getting into accidents on company time with company vehicles. Sometimes accidents happen and they aren't your fault. If the accident is your fault, however, you may have to just accept the consequences. However, don't say that it's your fault or accept any blame for it! Don't try to run away just because you don't want the trouble. You'll be found out and your legal troubles will be much worse than they would have been otherwise. Never leave the scene of an accident. You'll need to contact the insurance company, but that might be something that your boss should do, so contact your boss first. Also contact the police to make an accident report and exchange information with the other driver. Obviously, if someone is seriously injured an ambulance should be the first priority, though. Also, don't make the accident scene the place that you start looking for the insurance information and the registration for the vehicle. Know where it is beforehand. The company that you work for will be the ones who will be paying the higher insurance premiums if you're found to be at fault and their insurance goes up because of it, so keep that in mind. You may also have fees and fines that you'll have to pay if you're issued any kind of citation for the traffic accident. Be prepared to pay them, because that's not the job of the company. You are the driver of the vehicle no matter who it belongs to, so you have to do your share in taking responsibility.
