We have been together for 25 years nearly and as we approached that milestone and looked at what we had accumulated both of us thought that maybe we should start planning for the future and that included making a will. We browsed the web for information on "how to write a will", "making a will" and other terms. There is a quite a lot of information making a will although not all of it is easy to follow and if you want to write a will it looks relatively straight forward but there are only a few sites actually show you how easy and uncomplicated it can be making a will, as long as you have thought through what you want to say and do with your assets.

It made us realise that we needed to plan first before we could start making a will. This was the first thing and I and my partner found it confusing when people talk about making a joint will but in fact mean making a single will for each of you. It became obvious after a while that making a will whether you are married or in a partnership means making an individual will each although you may do it jointly at the same time was what was meant.

Although after 25 years most of assets are jointly owned some things still do relate to our previous lives when we were not together. We don't have children so although making a will for both of us was very much what is called a "mirror will" we both also had gifts we wanted to individuals and family that was not duplicated in the other's will. So we both sat down and planned making a will for each other and what we should leave our own closest family and friends.

I have a blog which highlights the importance of Will writing and covers the reasons as to why one should write a Will. It was stated that over 70% of the UK population do not have a Will, therefore i set out to create a source of information online to assist those that do not have a Will and point the reasons as to why you should write a Will.
