Among the most popular places you can visit is the Schönbrunn Castle – the summer royal residence. There you can see 40 of the magnificent rooms of the baroque building, plus the gorgeous garden around it. Another landmark is the baroque St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Its wooden altarpiece is amazingly carved and dates back to 1447. Another place of interest is the Austrian Gallery Belvedere – a summer residence which includes a castle and a garden, now turned into a gallery. Some other places you should not miss include the Hofburg Imperial Palace, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Vienna State Opera and the Schatzkammer (Imperial Treasury). From the hotels there or the Tourist Information Centre you can buy the Vienna Card which will provide you with free use of the public transport for 72 hours as well as discounts on many tourist attractions and restaurants.

Innsbruck is another city where the Euro 2008 will be carried out. It is the capital of Tyrol, situated in the western part of the country. The city is a huge winter resort popular for its many skiing opportunities. It is located under an artificial hill and consists of seven halls with different themes, but all in honour of the Swarovski crystals. You may also visit the Ambras Castle and the Cathedral St. Jacob.

The third city of the Euro 2008 in Austria is Salzburg. It is the capital of the Salzburg State, situated on the banks of the Salzach River. The city is the birth place of the great Mozart and you can visit the building, in which he was born and lived. Salzburg has many historical sites to offer and it is a protected heritage site by UNESCO. Salzburg’s Cathedral is very popular and the first church on the place was built in 767. It was later twice burned and renovated and now it impresses with a gorgeous facade and a huge dome. Hohensalzburg Fortress was built in the 11th century and is now among the best preserved and large fortresses in central Europe. Hellbrunn is a beautiful summer residence built in Italian style.
Berne is perhaps the most popular city in the country and also its capital. Its Old Town is a protected heritage site by UNESCO and both its parts (western and eastern) are very beautiful. One can visit the Cathedral of St. Vincent (The Münster) from the 15th century. There you can see an outstanding tympanum over the main door, which depicts the Last Judgment and has more than 200 figures. Also interesting is the Bundeshaus – the Federal Palace in Renaissance style. A landmark of the town is Zytgloggeturm (Clock Tower), dating back to the 12th century. Four minutes before every hour, lost of mechanical puppets make a great show for the crowd around the clock. Other places worth visiting are Kunstmuseum (Fine Arts Museum), Botanischer Garten (Botanical Garden), Nydegg Castle, Kindlifresserbrunnen (Ogre Fountain) and more.

Zurich is also a very popular place in Switzerland – the largest city and the capital of the Zurich canton. Its Old Town is very beautiful, located on the banks of the Limmat River with lots of medieval buildings and narrow streets. If you like nature you can go to the Zoologischer Garten (Zoological Garden) and the Botanischer Garten (Zurich Botanic Garden). The Botanical Garden contains more than 15 000 living plants and its herbarium has the amazing 3 million plants. One should not miss the beautiful Grossmünster Cathedral – some parts of it dating from the 11th century. Its 3 storey towers also offer some gorgeous views of the city. Schloss Kyburg is also a recommended place – the biggest castle in the eastern part of the country. It now houses a museum with art and armor from the Middle Ages. You can also visit the Urania Observatory, Landesmuseum (Swiss National Museum), Uetliberg and many more.

Geneve yet another important centre in Switzerland, located in its south-western part. The city is near Lake Geneva, between the Alps and the Jura Mountains. Palais des Nations houses the headquarters of the United Nations and is the second largest building in Europe. It is open for visit and there are guided tours available. Just across the entrance you will find another interesting place – the Musée International de la Croix-Rouge et du Croissant-Rouge (International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum). There you will experience the history of the Red Cross from its founding in 1863 till present times. Maison Tavel is the oldest house in Geneva (14th century) and is now open as a museum. From Mont Salève and Mont Blanc one can enjoy some amazing views of Geneve and its surroundings.

Last but not least, Basle is another city from the Euro 2008. The settlement is very old and is still the most important cultural centre of Switzerland. It is located on the Rhine River, surrounded by the Jura Mountains. In Basel there are numerous galleries and museums, but you can go to Kunstmuseum (Fine Arts Museum), Museum für Gegenwartskunst (Museum for Contemporary Art), Foundation Beyeler (a gallery of modern art), Historisches Museum Barfüsserplatz and Kunsthalle (also a gallery). Spalentor (Spalen Gate) is a gate from the 15th century which marks the end of the medieval part of the city. Münster (Basel Cathedral) is also very popular, built in the 11th century. It offers some beautiful views of the Rhine River, Germany and Pfalz (the palace). And last, but not least <a href=http://www.switzerland-trips.com/Basel/Basel-attractions-activities.html">Three Countries Corner

This is where my list of nice places to visit in Switzerland ends. Of course, there are numerous other interesting sites in the country – one could say that every corner of Switzerland is beautiful. I do hope I was helpful to those who would like to see more than the football games.

--
Ivaylo Yordanov is the author and can provide you with additional tourist info about Switzerland - use the Contact Us page of the site below.
Bulgaria is a small country. But it has hospitable people and many gorgeous places one should not miss seeing. Bulgaria is both a summer and winter resort with many opportunities for a great vacation. And during the winter there are four major places you can go to – Borovets, Pamporovo, Bansko and Vitosha Mountain.

Borovets is one of the biggest and oldest ski resorts in the country. It is located on the Mousala ridge, Rila. The resort itself is nicely situated among pine woods at 1 390 meters elevation and its highest ski tracks are at 2 600 meters elevation. During the winter season there is plenty of snow and the skiing conditions are also perfect. Borovets is only 72 kilometers away from the capital of Sofia and there are sightseeing tours to the city and other historical and cultural attractions in the area. There is also a great nightlife with many restaurants, bars and cafes. As far as skiing is concerned there are well-kept pistes for every difficulty level and the best ones are in the Yastrebec region. Many winter competitions are carried out there and the biathlon track is among the best ones in Europe. The transport system is well-organized with numerous chair lifts and a gondola lift. For the beginners there is a great ski school with more than 200 instructors. The accommodation is also great – it can be compared to the one in the most famous world resorts, but definitely cheaper.

Pamporovo is also a great resort in Bulgaria. It is located in the centre of the Rhodope Mountain, at 1 650 meters elevation. The resort is 240 kilometers from Sofia and 85 kilometers from Plovdiv. The weather during the winter season is great for winter sports – lots of snow combined with 120 sunny days during the season. There are many slopes suitable for beginners, but the Giant Slalom or The Wall will be adventure even for the experienced ones. The ski tracks are well maintained and the highest of them are located at 1 926 meters elevation around the gorgeous Snejanka peak. The accommodation is luxurious, the nightlife is fantastic and the ski school offers a good training for both skiers and snowboarders. Off-piste skiing is also available, but it should be done with a guide.

Bansko became a modern ski resort during the recent years and it’s definitely worth visiting. It is situated in the Pirin Mountain, only 160 kilometers away from the capital of Bulgaria. The small town has many luxurious and small hotels, cozy restaurants and simply perfect landscape. Bansko is also a town with historical value as there are many Thracian finds in the area as well as buildings and churches preserved from the time of the Bulgarian Renaissance. The ski tracks are 65 kilometers long, well kept, with great skiing conditions and suitable for every difficulty level. There is a big lift network and in Bansko is located the first fun park for snowboarders on the Balkans.

Vitosha Mountain also offers great skiing opportunities only 10 kilometers from the capital Sofia. The main skiing area there is below the highest peak – Cherni Vruh (2 290 meters elevation). Besides skiing there is also the longest cave in the country Duhlata (17,5 kilometers long) and some beautiful rock formations. The skiing conditions are great, although more can be desired from the hotels and nightlife. There are 6 ski tracks suitable for every difficulty level and they can be reached with several drag and chair lifts plus a gondola lift which can be taken from the outskirts of Sofia. There are marked hiking trails, available even in winter.

As a whole, the winter resorts in Bulgaria are developing really fast and they more and more meet the expectations of the foreign tourists. There are many other places one can go to and I do hope some of you will consider visiting this country. Especially during the winter season the white Bulgaria can be a magnificent place.

--
Ivaylo Yordanov is the author and can provide you with additional information about Bulgaria resorts, by using the Contact Us page of the site below.
The summer on this continent can be pretty harsh, but once you come near the ocean you will surely forget the heat. So that’s what I am going to tell you about – the best beaches in Australia, where you can spend some amazing summer days.

I will begin with Palm Beach. It is located an hour away north from Sydney and visiting it is definitely worth it. The beach itself is about 3 kilometers long and has clean white sand all along. There are shops, restaurants and cafes on the southern end of the beach line. Half of the beach, where there are no parking spaces, is usually very calm and not really crowded. The waters are crystal clear and Palm Beach is one of the best places for surfing. There are also golf courses for those who don’t like lying on the sand. The active ones can take a walk to Barrenjoey Head and visit the lighthouse there with view of Broken Bay.

Hyams Beach is another recommended place, situated in Jervis Bay (New South Whales). Its waters and sands are also among the cleanest in the world. Jervis Bay has the status of a national park and it is very popular place among tourists and locals. Probably the best attraction there is whale sighting. These amazing creatures are often seen in the waters of the bay. Also available are diving, fishing and many other water sports. The explorers may want to see the Boodereee National Park and the Botanical Garden. The green bushes behind the coast line offer many hiking trails and one can visit the ruins of an old lighthouse in the southern end of Jervis Bay.

In Port Douglas, Queensland, you can find the Four Mile Beach. It is perhaps the best one in the state and offers warm and clear waters and a perfect landscape with the ocean, beach and palms. From the main district of Port Douglas you can reach the beach with a five minute walk. I should also mention the marine stingers there – swimming is safe from June to September, but during the rest of the year you should go no further than the stinger nets. And when it comes to Port Douglas I cannot help but think about the Great Barrier Reef. Around the city are located the beautiful Ribbon Reefs – the best place for diving along the reef. With a live-boat you can reach it and admire the colorful coral wall and the diversity of marine life in the area. Other beautiful places in Queensland are Mission Beach, Whitehaven Beach and Surfers Paradise Beach. The first two are really calm places with perfect waters and rainforests.

In Western Australia, near the city of Broome, you can go to Cable Beach. It is very beautiful, with great ocean waters and a 26 kilometers long sand line. A superb attraction there is the sunset camel rides, organized every day along the beach. At the end of the beach there is the Gantheaume Point, where you can see some beautiful cliffs, plus dinosaur footprints on them.

Cottesloe Beach is the most beautiful one around Perth, also in Western Australia. It is perfect for swimming, sun-bathing and even picnicking. There are some nice places along the coast from where you can watch the splendid sunset and the Indian Ocean. At the most southern end of the beach there is a reef where superb snorkeling is available.
Last, but not least, in Victoria you can visit the Ninety Mile Beach. It is a long strip of land with perfect sand and it is among the most natural beaches, unspoiled by human hand. In the waters in the area there are numerous marine species and you can go whale and dolphin sighting. You can also swim, fish, walk or just lie in the sun. And when mentioning Victoria, I will remind you of the Great Ocean Road, which is a must-see if you go to Australia. It is 106 kilometers long and offers the best views around the continent.

Well… this is how my virtual tour around Australia ends. There are many places I didn’t mention. After all, there are innumerable gorgeous beaches around the continent. Wherever you decide on going, I am sure you will have a great time on a perfect beach with clear waters and golden sands.

--
Ivaylo Yordanov is the author and can provide you with additional information about Australia resorts, by using the Contact Us page of the site below.
The unprecedented scale of Bulgaria’s property boom has led developers to take the bull by the horns and build block after block of apartments, in turn drawing investment hungry tourists to snap up options in hot spots for sun, skiing. The sheer weight of development has led many analysts and particularly pessimists to warn constantly of an ensuing crash in the market. A distinction, however, should be drawn between the vacation areas that are driven by speculators and certain cities whose markets are experiencing more organic internally driven growth.

While sales have slowed and prices stabilized, as one would expect in a maturing market, the anticipated and well publicized crash has not arrived. British and Irish punters still lead the way with investments into the Black Sea resorts and ski destinations. There is, however, a new phenomenon emerging with force: deep Russian pockets.

Since the economic crisis of the 90’s, Russia has seen a new boom – largely led by petroleum and natural gas prices - and is coming to the fore as a new financial superpower in central and southern Europe. In particular Russians with formidable purchasing power are looking to invest in seaside holiday homes. Previous connections from the cold war make Bulgaria a popular destination among Russians, one they feel comfortable with due to the still relatively large number of Russian speakers. This is combined with the relative proximity and lack of warm, sunny beaches in their own country to make Bulgaria an ideal place for out-of-country land purchases.

The difference between the stereotypical Russian investor and the English one is simple, the English buyer typically has accumulated their money from savings or has freed up funds by re-mortgaging their home. They are seeking to invest in a property with good value and which can be used as a second home. The emphasis, however, is placed on letting it to other tourists and eventually selling later. The Russian investor, after decades of economic restraints and uncertainties, has a new found financial strength and is seeking to invest his Rubles in something representative of the new standard of life and status they are seeking to register. This goes with luxurious, expensive, beachfront apartments as a main focus.

The Russian influx should not be overestimated, as their buying numbers are still outweighed heavily by northwest European buyers. None-the-less, they are making their presence felt. It will take time for the balance to be tipped in their favor, but the important point is that the trend appears to have staying power.

This will not steer the market away from its long term stabilization. The rate of issue on construction permits has slowed drastically and even in some resorts, prices have stagnated; but with the market seemingly stabilizing for now and with the recent influx of Russian funds, it’s not all boom to gloom.

--
Tom Brailsford is the author and can provide you with additional information about property investment in Bulgaria. Additionally, more comprehensive information is available at Bulgaria real estate and Bansko property

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Bulgaria has seen a massive influx of overseas investment in recent years, the majority into the Black Sea Coast and a fair chunk also into the ski resorts. The foreign financial tsunami has been to such an extent that there are reports that suggest during the last year, one out of three properties sold in Bulgaria were purchased by foreigners. This may be exaggerated, but gives an idea of the flood of speculators.

Black sea properties and ski resort properties are fashionable and just like fashions may come and go. A wave of investment in another area can leave your pension purchase or guaranteed windfall looking a little flat all of a sudden. A capital city however is a different phenomenon. As the commercial centre of a country, money gravitates towards it; jobs, government, industry are always going to attract money.

As mentioned before, a tourist resort may come and go… Bansko is top of the pile now but a bit of cash, a couple of ski lifts and some three or four good ski runs later and all of a sudden Borovets is top dog. There is and only ever will be one capital. Real estate markets of course do apply to capital cities too and so does the boom and bust phenomenon. The difference is that a capital city is generally a real representative of the true marketplace. Tourist investment property markets are created by speculators and bargain hunters, capital city markets are made by businesses, investors and financial markets which are a little steadier to say the least.

Also, although if the above reports are right and 1 out of 3 investors are foreign, that still leaves 2 out of 3 as Bulgarian. These are the people investing the money, not only into tourism, but into homes in areas where they will live. As Sofia is home to 25% of the population of Bulgaria, this means that there is going to be continued growth in the capital. As the economy continues to boom and foreign investment continues to roll in, this so called centre of commerce is only going to attract more people wanting to take their slice of the pie whilst snapping up a property to live in while they do it and so the ball keeps rolling.

It is fair to say that buying in a resort is investing with your heart; buying in the capital is investing with your head. From a pounds and pennies point of view, capital cities guarantee steady market growth. It might not be as sexy, but it is secure. You can drive to Bansko, Borovets or even the Greek coast and you can enjoy the skiing no matter which resort is flavour of the month with the best facilities or cheapest property prices.
Both are good investments if you are shrewd, but it is a case of how much risk does the buyer want to be exposed to? Do you want a quick hit or steady growth? You decide it is your investment.

--
Tom Brailsford is the author and can provide you with additional information about investments in Bulgaria and its capital - Sofia. Additionally, more comprehensive information is available at Bulgaria Property Sofia Property

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Although a pretty small country, Switzerland is a very famous one. The strange thing is that for the different people, Switzerland is famous with different things. When it comes to this country, some of us think of the wide variety of world-known cheeses it makes. Others think of the unbreakable watches made there or the popular Swiss banks. But for myself, I have found another great side of the country its gorgeous nature. That is why, as a nature-lover, I will try to present here the most beautiful places you can visit for a walk or drive.

For those of you who want to explore on foot and are not afraid of walking a bit more, here are some perfect places for doing so. A place that offers great views is Mount Santis at 2 502 meters above the sea level. It is perhaps the most impressive mount in the Alps and you can start your hike from the Wasserrauen village nearby. To Wasserrauen can get by train from another village - Appenzell. From Wasserrauen you can cross the 8,9 kilometer distance to Schwagalp, which is around 5 hours walk. From the Schwagalp village by cable car you will get to the platform, from where you can see the mount itself.

Another pretty famous walk is called The Great Watershed (Grosse Scheidegg). It is located in the Jungfrau region (central Switzerland) and can offer breathtaking views of glaciers and mountains. You can also see the massive rocks of the Wetterhorn. You can begin walking from the Meiringen village and finish in the Grindelwald resort, 21 kilometers farther. And there are also bust stops along the road.

Another hiking path is the Burgenstock Felsenweg, located in the area of Lake Lucerne. The landscape there will probably leave you breathless as it is one of the greatest in Switzerland. You can start from the Burgenstock resort and finish in Ennetburgen. The distance is around 7 kilometers and passes through gorgeous views of Mount Pilatus and Lake Lucerne.

I would also suggest visiting the lakes in the Upper Engadine. They are four in total and are located 1 771 meters above the sea level, but the hiking path is not steep at all. The distance is 14 kilometers and offers views of lakes and mountain ranges. You can begin from Maloja, pass through the gorgeous village Segl-Maria and finish on the banks of the lake in the Silvaplana resort (around 3 hours).

And finally I will just mention the most famous and beautiful drives. Perhaps the most popular is the road above the Great St. Bernard Pass, beginning from Zurich or Basel and ending in Italy. The road over the Furka Pass offers some amazing views of the nearby glacier. St. Gotthard Pass Road and the road over the Bernina Pass are also marvelous and popular but especially the last one can be dangerous if the winding road is icy. While the above mentioned may be surrounded by some bridges, the Simplon Pass Road fully uncovers the unspoilt beauty of the mountainous landscape.
There are many other places one can write about, but the most important thing is that if you want to get away from the big city traffic, you should try discovering the nature beauty of Switzerland.

--
Ivaylo Yordanov is the author and can provide you with additional tourist info about Switzerland - use the Contact Us page of the site below.
More and more people are breaking away from traditional package holidays (usually limited to transportation, accommodation and some local commercialized attractions), treating local people and their native area with responsibility, looking after the environment, searching for virgin nature and unsophisticated way of life. A vacation type, which most forms of the alternative tourism offer. A country, which is a great example is Australia.

The impact of the mass tourism is quite popular, especially upon the environment. Besides, very limited share of money spent on holidays actually get to the local people, which regional and native cultural attractions we all enjoy. These are the people who actually save the traditions and habits of their local areas. The people, who allow us to catch a glimpse of their cultural heritage; these who have preserved and take care of the un-spoiled nature for all of us.

Maybe many of the people are used to think that big tour operators and large travel consortiums have a responsibility to preserve that local cultural heritage and environment. But the part of their great profits spent for this is not exactly known… But if one do not look a bit further in future and see that this way, one day there would not be many remaining tourist resources and gains will start descending fast. Unfortunately, this will affect no one so greatly, but the locals.

After all, alternative tourism forms include small groups of people, who surely do not harm the environment that much. Besides, if not familiar, as I am sure most of them are, one of the aims of the alternative tourism forms is to acknowledge how to preserve the environment and local traditions and culture. Actually, some alternative forms are meant to enable man to appreciate the greatness of nature, a great such example is the eco-tourism.

However, it is totally different situation in some big resorts with thousands of people running around and hundreds of hotels keeping the beautiful nature views away from your sight. Of course, there are many ways of entertainment in view of the tourists animation, nightlife, and other. But is it not exactly that what we are running from? Could great nightlife and various animations with the difference they are at different place, compare with the variety of all alternative forms; to compare with the naked nature and cultural heritage? So in my point of view except for the slightly higher prices in alternative tourism (due to the fact they usually include much smaller groups), it seems it that the alternative tourism is the better choice.

--
Ivaylo Yordanov is the author and can provide you with additional tourist info about Austria, Bulgaria and Australia – use the Contact Us page of the sites below.
Australia might be the smallest continent in territory but it does attract attention with its unique style and characteristics.
The thing that struck me most about that continent is the way nature developed there. Australia is located far away from the other continents and thus the life there took a bit different direction during its evolution. Also the climate is really diverse in the different parts of the continent which also explains the huge variety of the wild life. We all know about the kangaroo and the koala and consider them normal animals. But they are among the many other animals and plants that are typical for Australia and actually cannot be found in other places.
Australia can impress not only with its wild life. There are also many beautiful places to go to.
One of these places is the Great Barrier Reef. It is a chain of reefs, near the coast of Queensland and it is actually huge - 2000km long. The place is included in the World Heritage List of UNESCO and is top-visited place among scuba divers, explorers and people who just want to admire the underwater life, including the gorgeous colourful corals.
A lot visited resort also in Queensland is the Gold Coast. The place is heaven for tourists - it has tender sands, crystal clear waters and smiling sun. What is more, it has a kind of cosmopolitan air with many restaurants and places to spend some thrilling night hours.
There is a bunch of attractions just in the centre of Australia. Uluru is a single monolith, standing in the middle of the desert. It is considered sacred by the local Anangu Aboriginal people. But on the rock there are areas from where you can watch the sunset and sunrise and it is a sight you can’t forget. In fact, Uluru is the second biggest single rock in the world. And guess what?! The largest one is again in Australia - Mount Augustus in the Western Australia national park. Near the Uluru monolith are the Alice Springs - also very popular. Also in close proximity are the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park (World Heritage site) and the Valley of the Winds.
In the state Victoria there is the Phillip Island, where you can become a spectator of a fascinating scene. Every day at dusk tiny penguins come one by one on the shore. I cannot describe the feelings and excitement this sight evokes, but it is quite amazing.
Again in Victoria there is a formation of limestone, called the Twelve Apostles and they really are an unforgettable sight. If you decide to go there you should take the Great Ocean Road - it can give you a pleasure just from driving because there are marvelous scenes on both side - mountains and ranges from one side and the ocean and coasts from the other.
One should also visit most of the big cities in Australia. The capital is Canberra and another cosmopolitan is Sydney - the capital of New South Wales. The Opera House in Sydney is may be the most famous cultural attraction on the continent.
The list of places of interest in Australia is literary endless, but the important thing is that this continent can be proud of its style, places and unique characteristics.

--
Ivaylo Kantardzhiev is the author and can provide you with additional information about Austria's resorts, by using the Contact Us page of the site below.
