One of the most common anxiety disorders is social phobia, a disorder in which a person is scared of certain social settings. An individual with social phobia suffers from incapacitating fear that impacts all aspects of their life.

People with social phobia are very self-conscious and concerned about what others may say or think about them. They are often afraid of voicing their opinions, out of fear that they might be criticized or judged. People with social anxiety tend to be down on themselves or suffer from negative feelings about themselves. They are worried about being seen by others and find socializing to be very terrifying.

A person with social phobia may seem "shy," but in the case of a phobia, this is taken to irrational extremes. For instance, if you suffer from social phobia, you may hesitate to make a crucial call because you're nervous about talking on the phone. You dial the number, but you're so nervous that you "freeze up" or forget what you were going to talk about. Although it can happen to everyone once in awhile, for someone with social phobia it may occur every time, to the point where they find it impossible to make any phone calls.

Imagine it is the evening before an important meeting at work and you find yourself in a panic. You dread the thought of being in front of a room with your supervisor and all your co-workers watching as you present a project or new idea. You can't stop yourself from feeling very self-conscious and embarrassed. Even after the meeting ends, you can't stop overanalyzing everything you said and did. You fear that you embarrassed yourself in front of your colleagues by stuttering or saying something wrong.

Or perhaps you want to go to parties and meet new people, but you avoid socializing because you're nervous about introducing yourself to new people. You find crowded parties intimidating and the thought of meeting new people scares you. You worry about saying the right thing, or that people won't like you. You might stay at home very often because you're too scared to go out. These are only some of the ways social phobias can influence us.

Social phobias are overblown fears that can stop you from achieving your career goals or fully enjoying your life. But even people who realize their fears are irrational may not know how to eliminate their phobia. People with social anxiety would like to socialize and make new friends, but are too scared to do so. In spite of their conscious desires and efforts, they can't control their fears because all phobias are seated in the unconscious level of the mind. Ericksonian hypnosis therapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques are the most effective phobia treatments because they work at this unconscious level.

It can be difficult for sufferers of social anxiety to get help because they can be too scared to visit a therapist or open up about their fear. This is among the reasons why hypnosis programs work great for them. The programs promote a tranquil and confidence-boosting mind frame in a privacy, without being overwhelming or intimidating.

The first part of a phobia program is stress relief. Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for eliminating your stress and anxiety. Once you are completely relaxed, hypnosis techniques will foster positive ideas in your unconscious mind and eliminate your social phobia. NLP techniques are used to extinguish your fears by specifically targeting the process of thought that produces a phobia.

In traditional hypnosis therapy, specifically worded post-hypnotic suggestions are utilized to treat each different phobia. Unfortunately, people have a tendency to reject being simply told what to think or do, so traditional hypnosis therapy does not always work. A phobia requires the use of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP.

Ericksonian hypnosis techniques work better than traditional hypnosis therapy because they use suggestions that are not obvious to your conscious mind, instead of direct suggestions. These suggestions are hidden in conversation, in the form of stories and metaphors, to convince your unconscious mind to adopt a different line of reasoning. This is why Ericksonian hypnosis is much more refined than conventional hypnotic therapy and much more difficult for the unconscious mind to reject.

A single program that utilizes Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP techniques can treat social phobia and any other phobia, in any individual. This is because multiple techniques are combined to increase their effectiveness. People are frequently amazed at the apparently miraculous effects they see through hypnosis therapy. Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP are ideal tools to help build your confidence and beat social anxiety so you will be able to live your life to the fullest.

--
Alan B.
What personal characteristic bothers you most? Do you have problems with addiction? Are you compulsive about little issues, or do you forget them too easily? Developing a personal development plan can assist you to improve those elements of your personality that you want to transform.

Using personal development, individuals become knowledgeable about their own skills and weaknesses. They solve problems and strengthen relationships by utilizing strong points and avoiding frailties. To do this, a person must look seriously at problematic aspects of their personality and determine how to change them.

Developing a formal personal development plan takes integrity, perseverance, and plenty of energy. First, evaluate your strong points and weaknesses frankly. Then, identify which you know you really want to improve. These difficult evaluations are part of personal values development. When you have completed these tasks, you need to be ready to make the effort to improve those aspects of your personality least in line with your own unique values.

Developing a personal development plan needs help from a different, trustworthy individual around you. Locate a person who knows you more fully than anyone else. Ask that individual for his or her perception of your strengths and weaknesses. Ask this individual to help you in your quest for personal development and self improvement.

Numerous self help books offer only basic personal development strategies. While these are sometimes useful, they aren't always helpful in all instances. Moreover, it is almost impossible to construct a formal personal development plan without interaction and feedback from a trusted professional.

Other traditionally utilized methods for self improvement consist of personal counseling and support groups. These, however, only encourage individuals to look at elements of negative beliefs and actions of which they are aware. These approaches address the features, not the root, of the issue.

A better strategy for helping individuals cope with personality faults and capitalize on their positive attributes is personal development hypnotherapy. Hypnotists can employ this approach to encourage people to develop a formal personal development plan. These professionals allow clients to identify faults and find unique ways to work toward self improvement.

Usually, those who think critically or find it difficult to accept directional suggestions find conventional approaches to self help hypnotherapy less beneficial than do those who receive suggestions easily. For these individuals, Ericksonian techniques for personal development hypnotherapy, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), work much more effectively. These techniques are very useful in helping critical thinkers to work toward self improvement.

Individuals with high anxiety levels often benefit from self help hypnotherapy. In the process of treatment, regression or improved recall methods can sometimes assist the person to explain unconscious, unrelieved causes of anxiety. After determining what causes the person’s anxiety, a professional hypnotherapist can suggest personal development tips that allow the individual to eradicate situational stress. This alone often encourages people to resolve problems.

Individuals dependent on food or tobacco usually benefit from Ericksonian or traditional methods of self help hypnotherapy as well. By means of hypnotherapy, they learn to rely less on food or cigarettes to deliver sensations of calm and relaxation. Additionally, hypnotherapy professionals aid people to overcome subconscious connections between food, cigarette smoking, or tobacco chewing and enjoyable pastimes such as reading or watching TV.

Creating a successful personal development plan often necessitates the help of an objective professional. Working on one's strong points and employing them to conquer problem areas is tough. Most individuals have difficulty even admitting their vulnerabilities to themselves; it is even harder to admit these issues in personal or group counseling.

Self help hypnotherapy assists persons to address these struggles at the subconscious level, where they originate. Therapists who have learned this methodology assist individuals by offering concrete or indirect suggestions for encouraging them to work toward personal development.

Summary:
Most people yearn to improve some component of their personality or actions. Conventional self help literature and counseling treatments attempt to aid persons to form a personal development plan. These people are hindered, however, by their lack of ability to address negative actions in the subconscious, where problems start. Personal development hypnotherapy using either conventional or Ericksonian techniques is perfect for assisting clients to grow beyond failings by addressing the root of the problem.

Many people have difficulty admitting their problems to others, or they lack the necessary money to get the assistance of a counselor. Often, custom hypnosis recordings made by a skilled hypnotherapist trained in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming are be extremely helpful.

--
Alan B.
Virtually everyone who wants to lose weight will try dieting at some point. Unfortunately most dieters rarely achieve long-term success. This is because it can be difficult or impossible to stick with a diet and stay on track with a weight loss program. However, there are several options for people trying to lose weight.

Unlike dieting, weight loss hypnotherapy will help motivate you to naturally have a healthier diet and exercise more. Here, I will describe some popular diet programs, the keys to losing weight, and how you can achieve weight loss using hypnosis.

The high numbers of online searches for dieting tips and online diet plans indicate just how many individuals are interested in losing weight. Some popular diet programs are:

The Atkins diet, which is a well-known low carbohydrate diet, is centered around the limited intake of "refined carbohydrate" foods such as white bread and sugar. By limiting carbohydrate consumption, this diet plan is supposed to help the body switch from burning carbohydrates to burning fat for energy (a process called ketosis).

The Ornish diet is a very low fat, vegetarian diet, is a totally vegetarian diet, and when followed diligently, a mere 10% of total calorie intake will be from fat. The Ornish diet also strongly encourages exercise and stress-management, and has successfully helped to reverse heart disease in many people.

The Suddenly Slim diet program involves taking diet pills and meal replacement shakes with the goal of increasing the body's metabolism to use up more calories. The products include many ingredients typically found in diet pills. The Suddenly Slim program is supposed to function without increasing exercise or making other major lifestyle changes, although exercise and better eating habits will improve results.

The Zone diet balances carbohydrate, fat, and protein intake, with 30% of calories coming from fat, 40% from carbohydrates, and 30% from protein. Like the Atkins diet, this diet is often categorized as "low carb." The Zone diet monitors calorie intake and physical exercise to produce results.

The Cabbage soup diet can be found in numerous diet plans and is largely seen as a fad diet. It consists of eating only low calorie cabbage soup for seven consecutive days. Following this plan may lead to a few pounds of weight loss, but when you resume normal eating habits, the weight tends to come back. Additionally, continuing this unbalanced diet program for more than one week may lead to inadequate nutrition and poor health.

There are hundreds if not thousands of diet programs all promising fast results, but what many of these popular diet plans claim is not what they really offer. They include meal plans that are irregular, unsustainable over a long-term period, or downright unhealthy. In reality, permanent weight loss is rarely achieved through a brief, one-time diet session.

Successful dieters will tell you that the keys to losing weight are not in fad diets or even expensive diet plans, but in portion control, selecting healthy and satisfying foods, and exercising regularly. This sounds simple enough, but it can be hard to stay motivated to keep healthy habits and undo years of bad dietary habits.

We often lack the motivation to exercise and eat healthy. Hypnosis can be used to reverse our negative habits and lack of motivation. Hypnotherapy weight loss programs work by tapping into the power of the unconscious mind to actually make you want to exercise and treat your body right.

Even the best diet plans won't work if they are not followed through. Research indicates that most diets fail because dieters just can't stick to them. After years of eating oversized portions, many of us are driven to overeat and our appetites are out of control. This is where hypnotherapy for weight loss is especially effective. Hypnotherapy weight loss programs are highly successful in helping to control food cravings and control the appetite.

For many people, another crucial key to losing weight is stress management. Many of us overeat because of emotions. We eat in response to our feelings, such as when we are bored or sad. This emotional attachment to food can make it easy to pack on pounds. We can use weight loss hypnotherapy to develop better strategies for managing our stress and stop associating food with our emotions.

Hypnosis techniques can be self-taught using a good self-hypnosis program. There are weight loss hypnosis programs specifically designed to help you lose weight. With simple techniques from hypnotherapy programs, you can quit struggling to lose weight and become naturally motivated to shed pounds.

--
Alan B.
Although it's typical for everyone to have fears, having a phobia is a more significant matter. A phobia is an overblown fear that one cannot seem to control. Phobias are classified as a variety of anxiety disorder, and often create nervousness and panic attacks in an individual. When an individual has a serious phobia, they get so determined to get away from their fear that it affects their daily activities and their ability to live life.

Some of the most common phobias are arachnophobia, the fear of spiders, claustrophobia, a fear of enclosed spaces, and acrophobia, the fear of heights. Arachnophobia is the number one most common phobia. While many people are afraid of spiders, people with arachnophobia possess an extreme amount of fear. Even a photo or realistic rendering of a spider can make some arachnophobes nervous. Some arachnophobes have panic attacks or get hysterical at the sight of a spider. They are often willing to do anything in order to get away from a spider; for example, people with extreme arachnophobia might attempt to get out of a moving vehicle if they see a spider in the car.

Sufferers often feel ashamed of their unrestrained reactions. Other people and even the sufferers themselves often see their behavior as irrational. Their fear of spiders and their reaction to arachnids may escalate into other problems as well. Arachnophobia and other phobias may lead to a condition called agoraphobia.

Agoraphobia can arise when a person is afraid of being in any potentially stressful location or situation. For an individual with arachnophobia, this could mean avoiding any area a spider may be hiding, unfamiliar places, and even avoiding leaving the house or going outdoors altogether. This can negatively disturb a person's regular. A person may be afraid of having panic attacks or embarrassing him or herself by losing control. Many people find themselves constantly stressed over these worries.

People with phobias often struggle to control their fears. This is due to the fact that the root of the phobia lies at the unconscious level of the mind; so conscious willpower or effort does not work to control an intense phobia. A phobia is best treated at the unconscious level, which is why Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques are the best phobia treatments.

There are multiple different programs available for treating phobias. Most use older forms of hypnosis that rely on post-hypnotic suggestions with very specific wording to work against fears. In this day and age, post-hypnotic suggestions often don't work because our generation has a tendency to question everything. And since today's population is likely to do the exact opposite of what they are told, post-hypnotic suggestions do not work and they experience a polar response.

Ericksonian hypnosis therapy is different from traditional hypnosis because it uses indirect suggestions that are embedded in conversation. This makes them hard for the conscious mind to pick out and reject, so they will make it through to the unconscious mind and be accepted.

The typical procedure starts by using hypnotherapy to make you feel completely relaxed and calm. Then, instead of simply "telling" your unconscious what to do, Ericksonian techniques use stories and metaphors to steer your mind into a phobia-free way of thinking.

NLP techniques work by pinpointing the particular thought process that creates an extreme phobia and using it to extinguish the fear. Because of this, NLP will work on all phobias.

People respond much better to the combination of NLP and Ericksonian techniques than to conventional hypnosis because instead of getting commands, the unconscious mind is persuaded to follow a new, more logical line of thinking. These hypnosis programs are quite effective for people who are logical, critical thinkers and people who like to think independently.

You do not need a different hypnosis program for each different phobia. One program that includes numerous sessions containing the right combination of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP techniques can treat any phobia. Additionally, a good program will work for anyone. The variety of separate techniques in several different sessions ensures success for everyone who uses them. By following each step of the program, people are often amazed at how quickly they beat their fears.

Ericksonian hypnotherapy and NLP focus on changing irrational fears and behaviors into rational, calm responses. For many people suffering from disabling fears such as arachnophobia, this is a life-changing treatment. Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for overcoming fears and anxieties to live a better life.

--
Alan B.
How To Overcome Perinatal And Postpartum Feelings Of Dispair

All people experience feelings of sadness. In most cases, these feelings last for a few hours or days. Up to one-fifth of the people in the world, however, are diagnosed with major depression, in which these moods last several days, weeks, or months. These feelings result in impaired functioning in work, family, or interpersonal interactions, which can become severe.

Women who exhibit symptoms of depression after they become pregnant may be diagnosed with perinatal depression. This problem may begin at any point after a woman becomes pregnant, and up till the infant is a year old. Most commonly, however, those who develop this problem after the child is born are diagnosed with postpartum depression.

Perinatal depression or postpartum depression is linked with a number of causes. These causes can be physiological. For example, females with a previous or familial history of severe depression or other mental health problems are very likely to experience perinatal depression or postpartum depression. Furthermore, alterations in hormone levels after childbirth, like decreases in estrogen and progesterone levels, can precipitate depression. Postpartum thyroid malfunctions can lead to signs of depression such as exhaustion, irritability, and despair.

At times, mental depression is a result of emotional issues. Mothers may feel tired and overwhelmed as they learn to juggle the needs of the new baby. Such feelings are often made worse by a lack of assistance from family, friends, or significant other. Money issues may also help to cause postpartum depression.

Perinatal depression and postpartum depression often have serious results for both the mother and her infant. Anxiety and depression may prevent a mother from connecting completely with her child or being capable of meeting her infant's physiological and emotional needs. This may worsen the woman's emotions of worthlessness, self-blame, and low self-worth.

The baby is also harmed by the new mother's condition. An inability to bond with his or her mom may result in the child to experience trust issues in personal relationships throughout life. Moreover, children who do not have their physiological or emotional needs met often do not grow and develop properly. This condition, described as "failure to thrive," may be quite harmful or even fatal to the baby.

Perinatal depression or postpartum depression can harm everyone in the family. The spouse or significant other may feel ignored or unable to relieve the woman's depression symptoms. This can severely damage the relationship. Older children in the family may experience related feelings, and develop academic or peer difficulties as well.

Depression affects the whole family. For this reason, mothers experiencing perinatal depression or postpartum depression ought to get depression treatment as quickly as possible. Many treatments can be used, like talk therapy and medication therapy. Medications, however, are sometimes risky for nursing infants, and may have erratic results because of the tremendous hormone variations a woman experiences during these tumultuous months. Moreover, traditional counseling approaches can be time-consuming and expensive.

Two approaches for dealing with depression that do not involve medications and often rapidly show incredibly effective results are hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Traditional Hypnotherapy is most effective for persons who can be effortlessly entranced or can accept ideas without needing to analyze or understand them. Ericksonian hypnosis is quite effective for persons who often overanalyze. These techniques encourage people to unwind and eliminate tension.

For people who tend to be more critical or analytical individuals, NLP is often more effective. With NLP, trained professionals offer people depression help by assisting them to restructure their thought processes. This method can, quite literally, assist a client think beyond the depressive state and overcome it.

Clients can overcome depression by learning NLP strategies like anchoring. They learn to think of moments when they were happy and controlled their circumstances. Recalling the memory renews these feelings. Individuals are coached to touch two fingers together while experiencing these emotions. The unconscious mind associates the touch of the two fingers with the feelings. Hence, the finger touch becomes an "anchor."

Then, when the client begins to become overwhelmed, he or she triggers the anchor by putting these same two fingers together again. This elicits feelings of self-control and results in empowerment.

By using another technique known as the Flash, people learn to think away harmful emotions. They instruct their unconscious minds to instantly exchange positive thoughts for negative ones. As negative thoughts develop, the brain instantly substitutes them for positive responses. After developing this strategy, people find it almost impossible to conjure up negative thoughts!

Summary: Perinatal depression and postpartum depression often have harmful effects for a mother and her new child. The rest of the family may also be profoundly affected by these conditions. Due to the potential gravity of the results of this illness, new mothers with depression ought to get treatment as soon as signs develop. Two quite effective strategies that do not require medication or huge investments of time and money are hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

--
Alan B. Densky, CH specializes in depression and stress related symptoms as a certified hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner. During his 30-year career he's helped thousands of clients.
Self-confidence can be defined as the capacity to believe in oneself and one's personal skills and abilities. This is a component positive self concept, and required for success. Many people who exhibit a social phobia or cannot learn how to increase self confidence struggle to achieve success. A lack of self-confidence is often harmful personal success. The lack of a positive self-image sometimes prevents one in his or her quest to take control over the past and working toward controlling one's own future.

Unlike persons with a negative self-image, self-confident individuals have faith in themselves and their faculties to achieve their ambitions. These people concentrate on succeeding; willing to learn through errors made previously, and can use those missteps beneficially. They know that flaws do not make them failures. On the contrary, they thoroughly learned to consider the reason for failure and avoid succumbing to the same patterns. Self-confident people are aware of, anticipate possible barriers to their aspirations, and tackle these hindrances with the confidence that they have the ability to surmount these anticipated problems.

Many factors cause a person's poor self-concept. In some situations, people allow fear to become an obstacle, stopping them from succeeding in some area. At times, people can be crippled by actual or imagined guilt as a result of past errors. On occasion, a social phobia can undermine an individual's self-confidence.

An alternative explanation for low self-confidence is naïve expectations. It may be that an individual desires to achieve something in a given time period. That aspiration might or might not be realistic. In addition, achieving a goal may at times take longer than originally planned. Requiring more time to accomplish an undertaking or finding it necessary to surmount additional impediments to realize one's goals is not an admission of failure, although it may occasionally be considered as such.

Frequently, individuals who do not know how to gain self confidence look for ways to boost self confidence. Often they turn to therapists to assist them to build self confidence and settle these difficulties. A number of treatment modalities focus on building self confidence. One instance of this is cognitive behavioral theory, which instructs clients to boost self confidence through goal setting for improving self confidence, such as shaking hands firmly. Moreover, they measure an individual's successes by the attainment of simpler and then more complex tasks. Focusing on these tasks indeed assist clients develop behaviors associated with self-confidence; however, it fails to alter their self-perceptions or allow them to resolve the issues that resulted in the low self-esteem.

Positive self-talk is an alternative approach to increasing self confidence. The self-fulfilling prophecy is a common theme of psychology classes. This concept holds that individuals are most apt to achieve only those goals that they perceive themselves to have the capacity to achieve. Therefore, if individuals believe themselves capable of failure or marginal achievement, they will do exactly this. Contrastingly, if they see themselves as high achievers capable of success, they will accomplish their goals. Counselors who employ positive self-talk focus on assisting individuals boost self confidence, and assist them to perceive themselves as successful individuals who can pursue their aspirations effectively.

Hypnosis is another approach to building self-confidence. By using building self confidence hypnotherapy, individuals can reach a meditative state alone or with the presence of a therapist. They listen to optimistic phrases and ideas that will allow them to feel more self-confidence by encountering strong behavioral suggestions. This approach is quite effective for individuals who are not logical or critical thinkers. In comparison, those who are, however, this method of boosting self confidence is significantly less effective.

A newer alternative treatment modality that is used to promote the development of self confidence is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). This revolutionary therapy can even utilize self-perceptions that have been causal factors in the person's poor self-esteem to activate thoughts that will develop self confidence!

NLP strategies can assist an individual to relate past memories of accomplishment to the present. Through the technique of anchoring, clients can be helped to find memories of positive self confidence in the past, and anchor those experiences. When that individual needs to build once more, he or she simply triggers that anchor to draw from strengths developed by past experiences to have faith in and look forward to the successful outcome of the present challenge.

NLP is distinctively easy and yet incredibly successful. In contrast with other approaches, it eliminates one to painfully analyze former problems or extensive counseling appointments to become effective. NLP alone works for almost every individual who implements it properly. A high percentage of people who try NLP gain self confidence soon after starting the therapy.

--
Alan B.
The Ornish Diet is a low fat, all-vegetarian diet plan. Proper use of the nutrition plan, exercise, and stress-management techniques of this program results in weight loss and improved health for most people. Although this diet plan requires much more dedication than many other diets, and often requires dramatic lifestyle changes for the dieter, research shows that it is effective for both losing weight and reversing heart disease. With its emphasis on stress management and choosing healthy foods, this diet is also a great candidate for combined use with weight loss hypnosis.

The Ornish diet can be in one of two, very similar formulations, a Preventative diet and a Reversal diet. The Preventative diet is perfect for people who wish to shed pounds and lower their risk for heart disease. It is also suitable for people trying to lower their cholesterol levels. The Reversal diet is designed for people already afflicted with heart disease who are looking to reverse the symptoms of the disease and reduce their risk for heart attacks.

Both forms of the diet recommend a diet plan that is made up of 10% fat, 20% protein, and 70% complex carbohydrates. Under the plan, all meat, fish, and poultry are to be avoided. All oils, fats, nuts, and seeds are also not permitted. Refined carbohydrate foods such as white flour and sugar are also not permitted, but whole grain pasta and bread, beans, and legumes are allowed.

Foods allowed in restricted portions include egg whites and nonfat dairy products such as lowfat milk, yogurt, and cheese. Most convenience foods are banned, since any processed foods with over two grams of fat per serving are not permitted.

The diet allows you to eat vegetables, whole grains, beans, and fruit at every meal until you feel full. The benefit of this diet plan is that since you are allowed to consume as much as you want of permitted foods, you can feel full and satisfied all the time. This diet plan, unlike some others, is not based on unsafe "starvation" methods.

In addition to the diet plan, another important key to the Ornish diet is stress-management. There are many stress-relieving techniques you can use, such as yoga, meditation, and hypnosis. Practicing hypnosis is ideal for reducing anxiety and tension while supporting natural weight loss. Hypnotic techniques work by helping your unconscious mind focus on having positive thoughts instead of negative thoughts when you begin to feel anxious. These techniques are extremely effective in reducing stress levels.

While the Ornish program is healthy and effective for most people, it can be hard to follow because it involves many restrictions. This diet and others similar to it often fail because people are unable to stick to them. Many people struggle with dieting because they suffer from an out-of-control appetite, irresistible cravings, compulsive overeating, or a simple lack of motivation to lose weight. These obstacles keep many hard-working dieters from maintaining their diet and achieving permanent success. Hypnosis therapy helps you beat these obstacles, and is an effective complement to the Ornish diet because it offers motivation to stay on a weight loss plan.

Hypnosis works to control and regulate the appetite by "reprogramming" the unconscious mind to eliminate and replace bad habits with good ones. A lifetime of unhealthy eating habits such as "emotional eating" can cause people to eat compulsively, even when they are not hungry. Hypnosis breaks unhealthy associations with food and our feelings to end this conditioned response and stop emotional eating. Hypnosis can further influence dieting success by replacing the overeating response with another activity, such as exercise. This way, instead of having urges to overeat, you will feel motivated to engage in healthy physical activity.

Hypnosis can also be used to quell the emotional anxieties that keep you from losing weight. For many people, being overweight provides a "secondary gain" in the form of a sense of emotional protection or safety. For instance, many people with low self-esteem are afraid of rejection, so they use their weight as a reason to believe that people will dislike and reject them. Through hypnosis, we can have more positive thoughts and focus on improving our health instead of feeling overwhelmed by such anxieties. We can use therapeutic hypnosis to improve our self-esteem, to clearly see our self-worth and commit to our personal health.

Hypnosis offers a strong, natural combination of stress-management, motivation, and behavior regulation to encourage weight loss and help you follow your preferred diet plan. Using hypnotherapy with the Ornish program is especially effective, but hypnosis is great for helping people stay on any diet plan. Hypnosis promotes the success of weight loss diet programs as well as natural weight loss so people can enjoy long-lasting results.

--
Alan B.
Nail biting is related to skin picking and hair pulling. Skin picking, hair pulling and nail biting are labeled as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders. People who bite their nails often keep their hands in their pockets. People who bite their nails often feel social embarrassment and experience out-of-control feelings at times. At times they may wonder why they are not able to stop and they often question whether or not they are sane.

Biting generally happens when nail biters are in one of two modes. Some do it in an automatic way, as if they are in some kind of altered state and not thinking about what they are doing. It's often when they are immersed in some other activity at the same time such as watching TV or working on the computer, etc. For others, their main activity at the time is the actual picking or biting, and they will usually interrupt their other activities to engage in it.

There is also a strong commonality in the various purposes behind hair pulling, skin picking and nail biting. At a very basic level, these symptoms satisfy an urge. Many people report an uncontrollable urge to do them. Biting, picking or pulling also seems to deliver a pleasurable or relaxed sensation.

When sufferers feel stressed, pulling, picking or biting has a kind of soothing effect on them and reduces levels of stimulation. On the other hand, when they are bored or inactive, they seem to provide a needed level of stimulation to the nervous system. This may account for why so many people who dislike doing them find it so hard to give up these behaviors. It simply "feels good" at the time no matter no matter what the outcomes are.

Even if you suffer from more than one of these behaviors, don't despair. These negative behaviors can be overcome if you have enough motivation. More important is learning to "de-stigmatize" yourself. You are not crazy, helpless, morally weak or totally out of control, even though you may feel like it at times. Once you become aware of the fact that you are just a person who simply happens to have a bad habit, you can start to make some serious progress.

Skin picking and nail biting are chronic problems, so there is not currently a "cure" but you can find relief if you are willing to work at it. Therapy for nail biting consists of three parts.

Hypnosis For Nail Biting

First of all, nail biting is a stress related habit. So the first part of the hypnotherapy is to teach the sufferer how to be more relaxed at all times. To that end, I have found that traditional hypnosis, Ericksonian hypnosis, and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques can be very effective. That's because the very essence of hypnosis is relaxation. The person can learn to apply several different methods to enhance both the relaxed state, as well as his/her overall feeling of well-being.

The second part teaches the individual awareness of this unconscious habit. Post-hypnotic suggestions are generally given to the unconscious to make the conscious mind aware that you are bringing your hand towards your mouth for the purpose of biting your nails. Then you get to consciously decide whether or not you are actually going to bite them.

There are also several other much more effective hypnosis and NLP methods. For example, we can help the client to set up an "Anchor" or trigger so that he/she can momentarily disassociate. This is an excellent technique that will effectively relieve the compulsion.

The third part of the hypnotherapy is to eliminate the compulsion to bite the nails. There are hypnotic and NLP methods that actually program the client with a compulsion to not bite.

With the nail biting behavior, being realistic is very important. First off, you have rehearsed the unwanted behavior thousands of times. It is important to accept that the urge to bite your nails will not be overcome in a few days or weeks.

Secondly, you are fighting the fact that biting your nails feels good to do, and it provides much short-range satisfaction and either stimulation or soothing feelings. It can take time and effort to master, but I believe it is well worth the effort. My experience has shown a number of methods to be very effective!

--
Alan B.
Congestive heart failure, or CHF, is among the most commonly found chronic health conditions in the United States. Nearly five million individuals suffer from this disease, and half a million more are diagnosed with CHF each year. This disease may be slightly problematic, or it may become quite severe and impair daily living.

People with CHF undergo many changes from their previous daily routines. They must take medicines to lessen fluid accumulation and to lessen the exertion of their heart tissue. Several of these cause anxiety and fatigue. These medications may also hinder physical relationships with a spouse or significant other.

One other problem that persons with this condition encounter is the need for major dietary changes. Many must stop eating beef, stay away from foods with a lot of fats or sodium, or limit the quantity of liquids they consume each day. They are instructed to lose weight and work to keep their bodies as fit as possible.

The truth is, however, people with congestive heart failure do not possess as much energy for physical activity as they previously did. Instead, they must watch while friends and relatives play tennis, run, or jog. This results in despair and inadequacy. Additionally, many people grieve losing of physical strength and wellness.

The majority of people who experience this but are not yet of retirement age must also stop working. As well as creating money problems and depression, this can worsen emotions of separation and loneliness. They are completely alone. Instead of bantering with the worker at the next workspace, they watch TV while their friends continue living.

Occasionally, sufferers take depression or anti-anxiety medicines to deal with these losses. Others choose psychotherapy or group treatment to help them with meeting socialization needs and working through the grief induced by their freshly restricted lives.

A healthier method of coping with this kind of depression, however, has achieved recent recognition and gained practically immediate popularity with clients who have trialed it. Additionally, unlike medicines or counseling therapies, this technique is very inexpensive. People can learn its use without encountering further money stresses.

This approach, which involves a combination of Ericksonian hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), aids people to learn to relax and seek harmony and serenity in their daily lives. These techniques teach individuals to acknowledge the new restrictions in their lives while aiding them to continue living life as completely as possible. Even depression that results from medicines can be easily treated through the proper use of the techniques utilized by hypnotherapy and NLP. Two of these techniques are anchoring and the Flash.

Ericksonian Hypnosis is usually referred to as conversational hypnotherapy. It includes techniques for providing post-hypnotic ideas rooted in a conversation or figure of speech. The positive aspect of this technique is that it eliminates the subconscious opposition to directly suggested actions that is almost always included in the use of more traditional styles of hypnotherapy.

Through anchoring, hypnotists and NLP Practitioners teach clients to concentrate on positive thoughts and situations from the past in which they felt relaxed and in control. As the individual is progressively absorbed by these recollections, they can re-experience those positive feelings. The person then creates a physical anchor for these feelings by touching two fingers together. The unconscious mind makes a connection between the physical touch of these two fingers, and the positive feelings. Later, upon encountering an anxiety-producing or depressing situation, an anchor is elicited by touching together the two fingers, evoking feelings of peace and calm.

The Flash technique is also very helpful to individuals who are struggling to overcome depression. The Flash technique trains the brain to automatically use those destructive thoughts that are creating stress and depression, as triggers for positive thoughts that stimulate calm and tranquility. With practice, people usually find themselves almost unable to think negative thoughts!

Summary: People with congestive heart failure often experience depression as a result of mourning the loss of their physical health and strength. Other elements that can contribute to depression include medications and money worries. Both Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP offer excellent techniques for assisting people to cope with depression without being forced to spend huge amounts of time and money.

--
Alan B.
Smoking is an addictive and harmful habit that affects the lives of millions of people around the world. We now know the perils of cigarette smoking and smokers are encouraged to find ways to quit smoking for their own health. This is not an easy feat, as smokers begin at an extremely early age. The average age at which many people begin to smoke is only thirteen years old.

A habit formed at that age is not easily broken. Nicotine affects many parts of the body and it is hard to break this addiction without help. There are many different diseases associated with smoking. Most smokers need assistance to quit smoking and many different methods exist for this very purpose.

There are many different reasons why people begin smoking and develop a smoking habit. The main reason that people begin to smoke is peer pressure. Some young people think it looks "cool" when portrayed on television, in movies, and in advertisements. It also is forbidden which makes it all the more attractive to teenagers, hence the low starting age for many people. This young age makes ceasing smoking more difficult in your later years.

Media can also influence the decision to begin smoking. Smoking portrayed in movies or on television can lead you to believe that smoking is a harmless activity. Parents can wield the biggest influence over their children by setting a good example and not smoking, or quitting smoking. Mothers and fathers who smoke are much more likely to have children who start to smoke.

Smokers begin to crave nicotine, a drug within tobacco. Nicotine can affect your mind and body in many negative ways. Nicotine, once inhaled into the lungs reaches the brain in a mere eight seconds. Once in your brain, nicotine affects your blood pressure and heart rate. Over time it can increase your bad cholesterol levels and narrow your arteries. Nicotine in concentrated doses is a lethal poison, so you can imagine the effects on your body. Nicotine is also addictive and this is why many people cannot quit the habit.

Smoking can impact your health on a variety of levels. Low stamina is one side effect of smoking. More serious smoking related diseases include cancer and emphysema. Strokes and heart disease are also closely linked to cigarette smoking. A person who stops smoking will dramatically reduce their risk of developing these diseases for every year they can go smoke free.

The outcome of these medical conditions caused by smoking is grim. Lung cancer is almost always fatal unless detected very early and a full 80% of lung cancer cases are caused by smoking. Lung and heart disease can subtract years from your life unless you learn how to quit smoking. Emphysema cannot be cured but only managed, plus the damage to your lungs cannot be repaired. Stop smoking benefits include a healthier, longer life and a better quality of life.

There are many different methods to quit smoking, and you must choose the right method for you as an individual. Nicotine patches and gums are made to help slowly release you from the nicotine addiction. These only work for about 10% of the people who use them. Another option is going cold turkey, and this works for up to 11% of the smokers who try to quit this way. Other well known methods to quit smoking include an herbal kit that can show you how to quit smoking. It has a success rate similar to that of nicotine patches and gums.

Hypnosis for smoking cessation is a very popular and highly successful option for those who want to quit smoking without experiencing weight gain or withdrawal symptoms. Hypnotherapy has proven to be highly effective with smokers who have decided to quit smoking. Hypnotherapy for smoking cessation might sound like an extreme solution but it delivers solid results up to 70% of the time. This success rate is far greater that of other methods.

The reason stop smoking hypnosis is so effective is that it while the addiction to nicotine makes up only about 10% of the cigarette smoking addiction, the mental and emotional aspects of the habit make up a full 90% of the smoking addiction. Hypnotherapy treats this aspect of the addiction.

About 45% of the smoking behavior is caused by stress, and hypnosis has proven to be a powerful tool that can help reprogram the mind to divert you away from stressful thoughts, and towards more positive and relaxing thoughts. In addition, the very essence of hypnosis is that it incorporates a state of deep relaxation.

Another 45% of the smoking behavior is caused by conditioned responses. This is when smoking is associated with other activities and events at the unconscious level of mind. For example, if you smoke while watching television, your unconscious will associate the image of a cigarette in your hand with the image of the TV. Every time you see the TV, your unconscious flashes an image of the cigarette in your hand, and you feel the compulsion to smoke.

Hypnosis therapy is regularly used to "extinguish" the conditioned responses by disassociating the unconscious connections between cigarettes and TV, drinking coffee, working on your computer, driving, or any other situation where an unconscious association has been formed.

In summary: While most smokers think that their inability to quit smoking is due to their addiction to nicotine, in truth it is the mental and emotional aspects of smoking that present the largest barriers. Hypnotherapy was accepted by the American Medical Association in 1958 as an effective tool. Hypnosis for quitting smoking is the second most common use of hypnotherapy today.

While hourly rates for hypnotherapists continue to skyrocket, there are some effective self hypnosis programs on the market that can greatly reduce its cost. Since everyone is unique, there are no specific "magic" words or post-hypnotic suggestions that will work for everyone. So when choosing hypnosis CDs, look for those that incorporate a broad variety of hypnotic and NLP techniques in a series of at least six or more sessions to achieve the best possible results. In any event, the cost of the very best self hypnosis CD and DVD sets equates to much less than the amount that an average smoker spends every month on buying cigarettes.

--
Alan B. Densky, CH created the Video Hypnosis stop smoking program that helps smokers easily break the habit. He also created other ways to quit smoking with Ericksonian Hypnosis and NLP.
