Astrology holds the key to timing.

Love and astrology has it's own special timing, and there are indications within your progressed chart that will help you hone into those special years when someone new will be coming into your life or it's an indication of a marriage year.

First you have to have your natal chart in order to compare your progressed chart to it. There are three progressed charts to work with. There's your forwarded directed chart, converse directed chart, and your solar arc progressed chart.

When you get your progressed charts, you can begin to compare them to your natal chart (a three wheel chart is recommended). Each planet progresses at a different rate, and when one of your love planets progresses to make an aspect to one of your natal – or another progressed - love planet you have a love year, bringing you either a new love relationship or possibly a marriage year !

Aspects that are formed by the progressed planet to the natal planet are the strongest, but you will also see them making aspects to the other progressed planets. I've seen love connections when converse to converse were seen, and progressed to converse, but most importantly progressed to natal. In many cases you'll find up to 3 of these indicators from all or any of these combinations.

Here's a list of what to look for, the planet in bold is the progressed planet, the other planets can be natal or progressed. And numero uno love planet is Venus of course!


VENUS - Sun, Moon, Mars, Ascendant,Descendant,
MC, IC, Chiron, Jupiter, and any
planet in your 7th house or your 7th
house ruler.

MARS - Sun, Venus, Angles, 7th house planets
and rulers.

SUN - Venus, Moon, Mars, Angles (especially
the Descendant) and Chiron.

MOON - Venus, Sun, Mars, 7th house planet or
ruler.

Progressed Ascendant/Descendant – Venus, Moon,
Sun, Jupiter, 7th house planets and
rulers.

Progressed MC/IC Angle – Venus, Moon, Mars,
7th house planet Or 7th house ruler.

The aspects seen most frequently are conjunction, trine, and the sextile. However, squares and oppositions are noted as well.

The most frequently seen aspects for love in astrology are between these planets in order:

Venus/Mars
Sun/Venus
Sun/Mars
Sun/Moon
Moon/Venus and Moon/Mars
Any of the love planets to the Angles and 7th house ruler

And one more to look at is your Arabic Part of Marriage and love planets making an aspect to this point.

When you are comparing your progressed love planets to natal/ progressed planets, look for an orb within 1 degree.

Look for Venus to work her magic from the time the aspect is exact to 1 degree after. Mars works a bit faster, look for an orb 1 degree before to exact. All the others are in the works anytime the orb is within one degree - before or after.

To fine tune the timing of when a new love or a marriage will take place look to the transits that set off the progressions.

Astrological compatibility is determined first by assessing the aspects that are formed by the
individual charts themselves. We look at Sun to venus, venus to mars, sun to moon and so on.
This shows the compatible elements that the individuals themselves feel when in the presense
of the other person. Some people bring out the best in us and others, well......not so much.
This is because of the harmonious and/or challengingaspects between the charts.

Okay, so let's say you have relatively compatible elements between you. Now you have to look at the
chart of the relationship itself, to find out the purpose, and how this entity interacts with you individually.

At the beginning of a relationship you may seem to get along just peachy - But the minute you really
commit to a relationship, or it becomes long term, is when it's attributes, it's benefits, it's challenges will be revealed - this is the composite chart at work.

The composite chart is determined by finding the midpoint between two individuals' suns, moons,
mercurys etc. to form a new chart that reflects the purpose of the two joining together in a committed
union. This is true in friendship, a business relationship, siblings, parents, children, and romantic relationships.

This Chart now reveals another entity with harmonious and challenging aspects of its' own. It has a purpose and agenda that the individuals themselves will have to live with, and learn from. It shows what you may have to contend with within the relationship and outside forces.

What I like is that the composite chart can ofset some difficult aspects you may have between your natal charts. For instance, in my relationship we have some difficult mercury aspects interacting between us. This makes it difficult to understand each other and feel like we are on different wavelengths at times. However, in our composite chart we have - mercury sextile jupiter - this helps us to have more tolerance for each others' point of view. And we are better able to find the compromise or work through our differences.

We also have the aspect - sun conjunct venus - denoting a very harmonious and mutual love, and this is a very harmonious aspect to have which signifies mutual love and support within the relationship
-However, this conjunction is squared by uranus - boooooo - this has been a problem with us
from the get go. Constant disruptions, separations, and unavailability has reeked havoc on us. And it
seemingly is beyond either of our control.

So we can either throw up our hands and wave good-bye, or we can have this awareness that this is
something inherent in our relationship and learn to go with the flow. The lesson here would be to be
more flexible within a relationship and not need a 9 to 5/stable/secure/consistent relationship. This is where one of us (or you if this your case) would have to decide if this was something I/him/you could live with. Some people don't mind things being less than consistant and prefer a style of relationship where the other person isn't always around - someone who likes a lot of freedom perhaps. Then there's those who much prefer having a very stable home and relationship. This is where you would have to make a choice.

Another relationship I was in had a composite - moon square saturn - this one aspect revealed to me
why we couldn't make it FULLY work (i wish i knew now what i didn't know then).

With the knowledge you gain from a composite chart, you can be aware of the issues and lessons in your
relationship that are there for your mutual growth. And you can find ways to work with the challenges and enjoy the benefits ! Knowledge and awareness empower you to make the decisions that are right for

Astrology can help you to
understand some of the mysteries surrounding
your relationship. I really like this next part of astrology and relationships and that's the
composite chart of two individuals.

What a composite chart does is combine- numerically - both positions of a planet to come up with one position and so forth (representing the relationship itself), such as combining both moon positions (finding the midpoint), both sun positions etc. then finding the aspect between them. This gives a chart for the relationship.


You'll find even more information in this section than just comparing chart to chart. It gives a clue as to what the relationship itself is about and what to expect over time.

Here's a few examples of composite aspects between
a fictitious couple's composite chart - Luke and Blair.
Composite Moon Square Venus:
Composite Mercury Conjunct Mars:
Composite Sun Trine Uranus:
Composite Moon Opposite Saturn:


My opinion would be that their relationship will have a mix of affection(moon/venus), occasional disputes (mercury/mars), shared alternative or progressive ideas (sun/uranus), and the possibility of emotional separations, withdrawal and
distancing (moon/saturn).

No relationship is without it's challenges eh?
Depending, on each person's natal chart and characteristics, how they manage their differences within the relationship, will depend on how they
will use their challenges for better or worse. The easy aspects are just that - easy - but the true test of any relationship is how to grow and deal with the difficulties. Thank goodness
for them that they do have plenty of soft aspects to counter the difficult times. Some couples don't have that, and that's where trouble can be the ending to a relationship. My advice to this couple would be to live somewhere near a body of
water (moon/neptune), be prepared for separations and challenges due to other obligations (perhaps with one or the other's family in some way), learn to speak respectively with each other in regards to differences, and not to depend solely on the other person for his/her emotional happiness. Perhaps counseling would be of great benefit here.

There are always personal and relationship issues
that are brought up in every relationship that need some sort of resolution. Relationships bring up all kinds of issues that need to be addressed within each individual - this is most of the purpose of relationships- to change, to grow, to learn to be more compassionate, more tolerant and patient, or to stand up for yourself, become more
assertive in your relationships, and to claim for yourself that you are valuable, heard, significant, worthy, and lovable. The more we can claim
these attributes for ourselves the more we can give them to others - especially within our closest relationships.

Basic astrological compatibility starts with the sun signs and their elements. Earth signs
are compatible with other earth signs, air with air etc....also, every other sign is compatible with the sun sign. Gemini (air sign) with Leo (fire),
and Virgo (earth) with scorpio (water) for instance. These are the basic building blocks to sign compatibility.

Here's a simplified list of sign compatibility:

You have an excellent intellectual rapport. You spark each other's wit and you love to toss ideas back and forth. Intellectual companionship
is important to both of you, and in this relationship you have found a partner
whose conversation and company you enjoy. The emotional and physical connection between you may, or may not be, strong. You may very well
feel more like brother and sister, or best friends, than lovers: this will be true if there is little emphasis on romance and emotional bonding
in the rest of this report. Shared viewpoints, common interests, and social activities are key elements in your relationship. (for instance;
sun to moon, sun to venus, venus to moon, mercury to sun/moon/venus etc.)

That's an example of two people with air sign compatibility. Here's an example of two people with mutual fire signs.

Enthusiasm, a sense of adventure, and high spirited play infuse your relationship. You both feel you can be yourselves fully with one another
you don't have to tone down any of your exuberance and energy, the way you might with someone else. In fact, you inspire and vitalize one another. John (the aries) sometimes clashes or competes with other stron individuals, but Karen is tolerant, not threatened, and doesn't take the bait.

Here's an example of sun signs that are not particularly compatible -

Sun in Aries and Sun in Cancer -

Lisa (aries) often feels smothered by demands of family and even friends. Bob on the other hand, is very devoted to family needs and the inner,
emotional needs of others. Lisa may, without realizing it, selfishly accept Bob's nurturing and giving, while contributing relatively little to the relationship on an emotional level. Lisa's need for autonomy and independence often conflicts with Bob's needs for closeness intimacy, and mutual dependency. Lisa seems selfish, impersonal, and
indifferent to Bob at times, and Bob may feel too needy and emotionally sensitive compared to Lisa. Lisa can learn compassion from Bob, and
he can learn to be more independent, but it's likely to be a rough road at times with much adjustment needed on both sides.

The other part of sun sign compatibility is whether the suns are in a trine aspect, which is the amount of degrees between each sign,
( remember there is 360° in the zodiac, and when you were born your sun sign was assigned a particular degree) and a harmonious - trine (120 °) aspect would denote a real kinship or ease in the relationship. To find this out you need to know the date (ex. 11th, 15th, 22nd) someone was born. If the other person was born within 8 days of the
date (not necessarily the month) you were born, then you most likely would have a trine between you.

Of course -that is if - this person was born with the same element as you ; fire, earth, air, or water.

If this person was born in a complementary element (fire/air)(earth/water) then you would check to see if you had a sextile aspect (60 °) between
your sun signs. This too has a beneficial ease to the relationship.

This ADDS to the compatibility. Here's a couple examples of how this adds to the report.

Sun trine Sun - Your basic aims and approach to life are in harmony, and the mutual respect you feel forms the basis of an excellent friendship
or partnership. You feel understood, appreciated, recognized, and affirmed by one another. You stimulate, vitalize, motivate, and believe in each other.

Now that was a harmonious aspect between sun signs, now let's take a look at what it looks like when two signs are NOT in a harmonious aspect.

Here's an example of the added stress to incompatible signs that are in a square aspect
(90 °)

Your relationship is dynamic and energizing. You challenge each other to grow and develop, but unfortunately the process tends to be abrasive
and frustrating. The differences in your personalities that are described at the beginning of chapter 1 deserve careful reading and attention because if not understood and handled properly, they can lead to mutual frustration.

And boy can it !!! this was actually taken from my compatibility report with my significant other. If i were to go strictly from this aspect i probably wouldn't have fallen in love and had a relationship. Although sun sign compatibility is the beginning to understanding your connection, there are many other factors to consider, and it's those factors that kept us together.

Moon to moon, sun to moon, venus to mars, Ascendant to venus/moon/mars, and the aspects
made between these planets. These are all to be considered in the overall compatibility.

Then there's Saturn. Saturn is the planet of frustration, delay, inhibitions, restriction, if aspected stressfully. If aspected harmoniously you have commitment, longevity and stability. Look at this planet and the aspects it makes to your planets.

There is also the chart of the relationship called the composite
chart, and there's a wealth of information about the relationship itself
and what to expect from it, and what it's eventual outcome may be.

So in conclusion, the sun sign compatibility is just the beginning of your overall compatibility. I hope this article peaked your curiousity
