The Nightmare Before Christmas Movie Now In 3D

Tim Burton's classic Christmas/Halloween movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas has quickly become one of the most renowned animated holiday films in movie history and now it has been remade in 3D animation making it even better. Though parts of this holiday movie classic seems a bit too graphic for some of the younger children, this film is a wonderful musical (music and lyrics by Danny Elfman) with a very good message for all of us. The entirety of The Nightmare Before Christmas was created with stop-motion animation, and in view of the fact that it's centered around the spooky Halloween holiday, it was given an overall dark tone. Jack Skellington (the Pumpkin King), the film's brooding protagonist, is a living skeleton who walks, talks, and sings beautifully (Danny Elfman sings for Jack). Each and every Halloween, it's Jack's duty to organize the holiday of Halloween for the world, but this Halloween, Jack feels like there something missing in his life so instead of preparing for Halloween, Jack searches for a way to fill the emptiness in his life.

During his search of self discovery, Jack finds a strange doorway in a tree which leads him to a wondrous place called Christmas town. It does not take very long for Jack to fall under the spell of goodwill shown by the cheery inhabitants of Christmas town. He soon becomes completely captivated with Christmas town and Christmas. After Jack learns about the legend of Santa Claus, he decides to tell all of his friends in Halloween town about the wonders he has just witnessed. Although the townspeople in Halloween town are hoping to make the next Halloween even more frightening than the last, Jack convinces them to celebrate Christmas instead. With the aid of Lock, Shock and Barrel, three trick-or-treaters who are more tricksters than treaters, Jack kidnaps Santa Claus. From there, everything begins to go completely wrong.

The Nightmare Before Christmas transforms into a fascinating story about being happy with one's self, and while the chief message is good, there are elements to Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas that might be a bit too scary for the younger kids. Some of the movie's characters, like Sally and her "master" for instance, have a very dark, almost macabre look to them and can be very frightening to some younger children. In addition to her gruesome appearance, Sally, who is the main female character of The Nightmare Before Christmas is sometimes abused by her "master ", which can be a bit upsetting to some children. There is one scene in particular that can upset some children. It's the scene where the Oogie Boogie Man kidnaps and attempts to do away with Santa Claus. I'm a firm believer in watching questionable movies with smaller children so you can help them tell the difference between good and bad, fantasy and reality.

With that said, there is nothing in The Nightmare Before Christmas that is too far over the top. I found The Nightmare Before Christmas to be a fantastic film that is loaded with holiday spirit, beautiful music and eye-catching graphics. The best is yet to come now that it has been released on BlueRay DVD in 3D animation. I found a place for it on my shelf alongside my other great classic Christmas movies. The fact that the bear is omnivorous means that you can save money during feeding time.

WoW Hunters Pet Boar - With HP slightly less than the bear and armor that is equal to or slightly higher than a bears, the hard charging boar makes a great choice as a Hunter Pet. Many people who play the World of Warcraft Hunter class choose the boar as their characters pet because of its ability to “Charge”, which works great when grinding and leveling. Like the bear, the boar is also an omnivore.

WoW Hunters Pet Scorpid - In comparison with other tanking Hunter’s pets, Scorpid’s would be considered to have moderate survival skills. If you are the type of Hunter who likes using poison as a means of destroying your enemies then the Scorpid is just the pet for your Hunter. Now its your turn to smile as you bring out your secret weapon; your Hunters Pet Owl. You see, one of the Owls special abilities is to “Debuff” an opponent. That’s one awesome ability!

WoW Hunters Pet Wind Serpent - Although this Hunters Pet is somewhat mediocre when it comes to damage melee stats, the Wind Serpents “Lightning Breath” is the most damaging ability in the game. The Wind Serpent would be our best Hunter pet if it had higher damage melee stats.

Bears and boars are by far the strongest choice for Tanking. As boars and bears are easier to feed, they appear to be mere common Hunter’s pets. For Tanking, if you are looking for a pet with great endurance, then choosing a turtle sounds like a good idea.

Cats are thought to be the best overall selection when selecting a Hunters pet for DPS or fighting ability. The reasons why cats make the most powerful and best WoW Hunter’s pet is because they can master several powers rather quickly, they are easier to feed and can damage enemies in various and innovative ways. In addition to cats, you could also pick out ravagers, owls, wind serpents and spiders for fighting abilities, although my own personal favorite killing machines are raptors. Raptors will rip the face right off your enemy, chew it up and spit it out. So, if you're feeling especially gory, raptors are the way to go.

Now, talk briefly about a very important subject regarding your World of Warcraft Hunter‘s pets. What I want to talk about is the maintenance of your pets. Let me start by saying “Pets require a lot of maintenance.” It’s your job to keep your pet happy and to keep your pet happy you are going to need to keep it well fed, continuously level them up and teach them new skills. Not only will this plan of attack keep your pet happy, but it will also benefit you as well with a well trained and more powerful pet.

Unhappy - This is the lowest level of happiness that your pet can be. Unhappy is also how you begin your relationship with your pet after you tame them. You can tell if your pet is unhappy by the frowning red face next to your pets portrait.

In order to increase your pets happiness, it will take more than just feeding it. You will need to feed it something it enjoys eating. To see what your pet prefers to eat, click on your profile to open it up then click on your pet tab and locate the green smiley icon with your mouse pointer. Now that you know what your WoW Hunter’s pet likes to eat, make sure you feed it enough to keep it happy and loyal. Each time your pet levels, his preferred diet will increase, and if you continue to feed him the amount he was eating prior to leveling up, he will gain happiness at a much slower rate, while feeding your pet the correct amount will allow it to acquire a great amount of happiness. So, make it a habit to click on your pet’s tab often.

1. Click on the “Feed Pet” Icon.
2. Click on the food you wish to feed your pet.
3. Allow your pet enough time to eat the food (about 10 seconds).

If you do not allow your pet ample time to finish its food prior to clicking on the “Feed Pet” icon again will only waste the food you previously fed it. All of the happiness left on the previous piece of food will be lost.

WoW Hunter Pet Guide - Training Your WoW Hunter’s Pets

In the World of Warcraft there are a couple of ways available for you to feed your pet. One way is by taking your pet over to a “Pet Trainer”. You can find the Pet Trainer over by your Hunter’s Class Trainer. The name Pet Trainer is somewhat of a misnomer. The Pet Trainer will teach you new skills and abilities on how to buff up your WoW Hunter’s pet with Health, Armor and/or Attack skills. These skills and abilities are put into your spell book, not on the pet. If you ever change pets, you won’t have to locate the Pet Trainer when your new pet is able to use the skills and abilities.

The other way for you to learn additional pet skills and abilities is by taming wild animals. For your Hunter to learn the pet abilities “Prowl” and “Claw”, he would have to tame a wild cat. By taming a wild bear, your Wow Hunter would be able to learn the pet ability “Claw”. Not every cat will know the Prowl skill and not every bear will know the Claw skill. There are different types of cats like there are different kinds of bears. Specific wild animals will know specific skills and abilities as well as higher levels of the different skills and abilities.

A good rule of thumb to follow here is: The tougher the wild animal, the tougher the skills or abilities you can learn from it. If you do tame a wild animal with a skill or ability that you want to learn, it will not come to you automatically. For you to learn the Prowl skill from a cat you just tamed, you will first need to ascertain if the cat has the skill and if it does, you must use the cat and his Prowl skill as often as possible in battle. When you have finally learned the skill or ability, a message will pop-up on the screen stating “You have learned the Prowl skill”. Now that you have learned the Prowl ability, you no longer need of that particular cat to use it. You can now use it on any tamed Hunter’s pet you want.

WoW Hunter Pet Guide - Training Your WoW Hunter’s Pet

Now that you have learned some skills and abilities from taming wild animals or the Pet Trainer it’s time to teach them to your favorite pet. If you don’t already have him out, take the pet you want to train out of your stable of pets. Now open up your spell book and click on the general tab where you will open up your Beast Training ability. There you will find out how many training points you have available along with all of the WoW Hunter pet abilities and skills you have learned. The training points are used for purchasing new abilities and skills. These are the training points you get as bonuses when your loyalty goes up. So, make sure your pets are very happy so your loyalty goes up and you get training points to use. Easy, isn’t it?

Next, you’ll want to choose a skill or ability you want your pet to learn along with the rank of that skill or ability. Remember, not all pets can learn every skill or ability. For instance, while all bears can learn Claw, boars can’t. Also, higher rank skills and abilities cost more points and if you teach your pet a skill or ability with a high rank, you won’t be able to teach it any of the lower ranks of the same skill or ability. Sometimes, a lower ranked skill will be all your Hunter’s pet needs to get the job done. That’s all there is to it. For many Hunter’s, the fun part is planning on what skills and abilities will be needed to make the ultimate super pet, then going out and taming the beasties who have the skills and abilities on my list, then putting my super-pet together and see how it performs.

People often ask me which World of Warcraft Hunter’s pet is my favorite. As for myself, I like the wolf for both its brilliant looks as well as its blood-curdling song. The assortment of attack speeds this awesome pet has will come in handy as well. Could The Spore DRM Be The Undoing Of The Video Games Industry?

Hordes of video game lovers, many of whom were devoted to the widely popular Sims video games, waited anxiously for Electronic Arts newest video game release called Spore. Electronics Arts did not disappoint it's many fans as the $49.99 regular version of Spore, the $9.99 Spore Creature Creator and the $79.99 Galactic version of Spore were released without a hitch and were quickly snatched off the retail stores shelves. Although Spore's sales didn't quite match the volume of sales of video game monoliths Guitar Hero III or Grand Theft Auto IV, it did very well. It is usually about a week after a video game release when the people who bought the game begin flooding the Internet with either their personal praise or damnation of the video game. They talk about things like game play, graphics speed and resolution, end game, online play, character building etc. Not this time! With Spore, the talk was all about its DRM!

What is DRM? The copyright protection called DRM is an acronym for Digital Rights Management, a term used to describe the different techniques for restricting the free use and transfer of digital content. DRM is used in a number of media, but is found most often in music and video files. Many of people believe that DRM should stand for Digital Restrictions Manager being that it manages users restrictions while taking away their rights. Companies like Apple began using DRM under the auspices of fighting piracy. Has it worked? You tell me. After the news of the type of severe DRM Electronics Arts put on Spore spread to future buyers, it took only days for over 500,000 illegal copies of the Spore video game (without DRM) to be downloaded from P2P BitTorrent sites on the Internet. Does DRM work? No! It ticks people off. If you don't believe it, ask Amazon.com, where thousands of people unhappy with Spore's DRM restrictions gave the new video game a lowly one star rating. Thanks to DRM, Spore has become the most pirated game ever.

So, what was so bad about Spore's DRM to get so many people in an uproar? Here is what it is all about and I am going to tell you from first hand experience because I purchased the $79.99 Galactic version of Spore and after one more download, the game will be worthless. Because my video card was not set perfectly to run Spore, I received a warning message after the first installation that I needed to change my video card settings and reinstall Spore again or the game would not work. One installation used. I did what was required and reinstalled Spore again. No error messages this time, the game works wonderfully. Two installations used. So why am I counting installations? You see, with Spore's DRM restrictions, the purchaser can only install the game three times. After the third installation, your bought and paid for game of Spore will be nothing but a worthless piece of plastic. You can play it, but you will never be able to install it again. So you pray nothing goes wrong with your computer because you won't be able to install Spore to a new one. If I would have known about Electronic Arts DRM restrictions for Spore, I never would have purchased it and I may have gone as far as joining the other 500,000 so-called pirates visiting a free game downloads site to download a DRM-less version.

Some folks say that a company should be allowed to protect their copyrighted products, and I agree as long as they don't take the rights away from the new owners, the people who have purchased those copyrighted products. I want to first say that I don't necessarily hate the idea of copyright protection but I do hate the way DRM is being abused by the companies. When a person buys a copyrighted product, the copyright should now belong to the new owner along with the product. As far as I am concerned, when I purchase something it should be mine to do with as I please. As long as it does not involve harming, torturing or killing a living creature, I should have complete and total rights to do what I want with that product. Here are some examples of what I mean. If I were to purchase a German Shepherd dog ($800), it is mine. If I want to either sell or give my dog away to someone else, I have every right to do so. If I buy a car ($25,000) and a week later feel like selling it or giving it away, I can because I have the every right to do so. If I were to buy a house ($200,000) outright for cash (I wish), that house would be completely mine to sell or even give it away if I choose. If I have complete and total rights to do what I want with my dog, my car and my house, will somebody please tell me why can I face criminal charges and punishment for doing what I want with my $79.99 game of Spore or any other video game for that matter. Heck, with EA's new DRM restrictions imposed on my Spore video game, I can't even install it more than three times. In truth, Spore still belongs to Electronic Arts even though I forked out my hard earned cash for the rights of ownership. Therein lies the true crime my friends. And the video game industry is wondering why more and more normally honest folks have turned to pirating.

Sadly, video game companies like Electronic Arts are unwittingly causing the downfall of the video game industry with their abuse of DRM restrictions. Piracy paranoia has already taken a huge bite out of the PC and Mac game industry. Remember when stores like Egghead and Electronics Boutique used to be stocked wall to wall with computer games for your PC or Mac. Then they come up with all of these unjust anti-piracy rules that if you open the games packaging there will be no exchanges or refunds allowed. Are you kidding me. With all of the different computer configurations out there due to lack of standards within the industry, you were lucky not to run into a conflict when installing or playing the game.
