With all the gadgets, chemicals, and doo-dads on television and in the cleaning aisle at the store, cleaning can get overwhelming.

However, you can learn how to clean anything with just a few basic tools. We're lucky: Our great-grandmothers didn't have any of this newfangled stuff, and their houses were usually cleaner than our own!

Chemicals - You'll be able to clean just about anything if you just keep some basic liquid cleansers and chemicals around. First one we'll start with is ammonia. Ammonia is a great tool to use in solutions where you want clarity. It's wonderful mixed in water for cleaning windows and glass, stainless steel, and mopping floors.

Another acidic liquid you'll want to keep around is lemon juice, which can help bring the shine back to dull items. Bleach is a necessity as well, for removing stains from white items, and for killing mold and mildew.

But remember, you must always remember that bleach and ammonia must be kept separate! The fumes created by mixing these two chemicals are deadly! Don't do this at home (or anywhere else for that matter)! Cream of tartar and salt, which you probably have in your spice cabinet, are helpful for some cleaning challenges as well. If you really want to know how to clean anything, those are all the things you need.

Large tools - You'll want to have a good broom along with a dust pan, a dust mop (or a Swiffer), and a vacuum is a good idea too. All three are considered necessities in many households, depending on the types of floors.

You may prefer the mop and bucket like many other people if you have linoleum or tiled flooring. A long-handled duster will get into ceiling corners and remove dust from the blades of ceiling fans.

Small tools - Rags, sponges, and two microfiber cloths are the staples for your small cleaning tools. Old cloth diapers and men's undershirts can be turned into great rags. Sponges should be replaced on a regular basis, as they can hold germs. Microfiber cloths come in two varieties.

The first is a nubby, or napped, cloth, used for general household cleaning and dusting. The second is smooth, meant for delicate surfaces like electronic screens. Many people would also consider rubber gloves a necessity for how to clean anything without developing damaged hands or encountering nasty germs directly!

--
Visit How to Clean to learn How to Clean Suede to How to Clean a Laptop Screen and anything else in your home.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

How to Install Hardwood Flooring and Keep Your Sanity

Thinking about doing your own hardwood flooring? Before you learn how to install hardwood flooring, you need to choose the type of flooring you want first. From traditional hardwood flooring to flooring that just snaps together, you have dozens if not hundreds of different options.

Laminates and snap-together hardwoods have their own instructions, which will come with the flooring. However, traditional hardwood flooring is more involved. Here are some steps to help get you started.

Before anything else, the flooring base needs to be put down. You want the subfloor to be dry, clean, and level. Before you begin, remove the baseboards.

You want the wood to get acclimated to your house first, so whether you pick up the flooring yourself or have it delivered, time it so that it all gets stacked somewhere in your house for a few days or so. Wood naturally expands and contracts in different temperatures and humidity levels, and if you don't allow it to adjust to your home, it will not fit properly.

When you're considering how to install hardwood flooring, you must determine the direction in which the floor joists (supports) run, and mark their position at the base of the walls for reference. Now you'll need to layer the top of the subfloor with 15-pound asphalt felt.

This does a few things for you: It protects the flooring from moisture and minimizes squeaking and creaking. This is especially important if you're installing the hardwoods in a kitchen or bathroom.

Mark the centerline of your room to indicate the position for the first board. Leave a 1/2 inch gap at the walls as you're installed the flooring.

Make sure to use a nail set to finish each nail you put in by hand, so the hammer doesn't leave indentations. The first three boards or so should be nailed in by hand, even if you're using a pneumatic flooring nailer. This will keep them from shifting.

Learning how to install hardwood flooring isn't all that difficult. However, it takes time and requires precision.

--
Make sure to visit How to Install for more tips on everything from How to Install Laminate Flooring to How To Install a Door.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

There are hundreds of options for your new cabinets. Kitchen cabinet ideas are practically endless.

First, decide how large a project you're going to attempt. Are you going to tear out the cabinets and give the kitchen a completely new look, or are you simply touching things up?

If you can't afford to spend too much on remodeling, your best option is a refinish. Unscrew the hardware, take off those cabinet doors, and get started! Once you've prepped the surfaces, you can do a simple stain or paint, or go more in-depth with a multi-step finish.

Another option is cabinet refronting. Many companies do this, so it shouldn't be hard to find them. How does this process work? It means you leave the bare bones of the cabinets where they are.

You pick out the designs you want from the company. Later, installers come in, remove the doors and front faces of the cabinets, and replaces them with the designs you picked. What this does is it gives you a completely look look for your kitchen without the cost and hassle of replacing the cabinets entirely.

What if you want to rip the whole thing out and buy new cabinets? Don't worry, there are still thousands of kitchen cabinet ideas to look into. If you're new to cabinetry installation, and you want to do it yourself, do your research.

It may be best to consult with an experienced installer to make sure you understand all the nuances. On the other hand, you could always get someone else to install them for you.

As for choosing your new cabinetry, there are many places to go. You could find bargains if you browse online. Cabinetry makers with websites can let you explore online showrooms of their work.

You can also find different styles of cabinets at home improvement stores, anything from traditional to contemporary cabinetry.
Even if you have to have a wedding on a budget, it doesn't need to LOOK like one. Nobody has to see whether you cut corners. One thing that will evade scrutiny will be well-done homemade wedding favors.

Party favors are common at weddings, since it's expected that guests will be able to take something back with them. Many times it's just a token of remembrance for the day. It's not as hard as you think to make them by hand. Also, you have the option of making something useful for each guest

Your first stop should be at the craft store. You'll find that most craft stores have aisles set aside for wedding things, such as favors. If you spend some time looking through the aisles, you might get some ideas. Below are several suggestions of homemade wedding favors.

Candles - Buy boxes of rose-shaped floating candles in white. Jazz them up by tying ribbons around them that match your wedding colors, complete with a flower and bow. Make them even more special with a tag that thanks your guests for being there on your special day.

Potpourri - Shop around for some small containers that will go well with the theme of your wedding. Buy potpourri in large bags, and fill each container with some.

Photos and frames - It's not hard to find lots of little, cheap wooden frames that are wallet-sized (3x5 or 4x6). These are fun to decorate, either with plain paint, or even embellished with beads, lace, or other craft items. You can put a picture of you and your fiance in the frames.

Close friends and family may keep that photo in the frame when they get home, while more distantly related guests can choose to replace the photo with one of their own.

There are hundreds of ideas to consider, and these are just a few to get you started with homemade wedding favors. If you still need more ideas and a trip to the craft store doesn't get your creative juices flowing, do some Internet searches. You're sure to find great ideas somewhere.

--
Planning a Do It Yourself Wedding?
Black is certainly one of the main staples of Goth fashion, and has been for a number of years. However, black is such a versatile color, and it takes more than putting on a black outfit to call yourself a Goth. While the Goth subculture itself is not about fashion, the way you dress tells the world how you perceive yourself.

The purpose of Goth dress style is to express your own individuality. Now, while black is a good default, many Goths add other colors to their outfits such as grey or white.

As a matter of fact, we're starting to see downright rich colors in Goth outfits: Hot pink, deep red, sapphire blue. But still, one thing remains consistent: Black is the primary color.

Accessorizing is very important to dressing in the Goth style. Lots of jewelry, and often piercings, are a hallmark of the style. Jewelry is silver or pewter, and usually chunky or dramatic.

Another important part of someone's identity is religious symbols, which are often worn as pendants. You'll often see a lot of gloves and sleeves (arm warmers). Patterned tights are common. Working color into Goth fashion can be done with fishnet or striped tights.

It's very easy to find clothes that will help you dress in a Goth style. Try starting at your local thrift store. You'll be able to find a lot of stuff for a very low price, so you won't have to feel nervous about altering it to suit you. You can dye it, add studs, or whatever else to make it truly yours.

But you can even find the right clothes at a lot of retail stores. Since there are more people than ever who want to dress like Goths, a lot of stores are catering to the trend. You can make your outfit unique with your own jewelry and accessories.

You have thousands of choices when it comes to dressing in Goth fashion. You'd have a hard time finding two Goths dressed alike; it's all about individuality.

--
In to Goth Fashion?
How to Design Your Resume Cover Letters

Resume cover letters are extremely important, though many jobseekers don't fully realize it. A well-written cover letter may mean the difference between a serious perusal of someone's resume, and a glance before it enters the circular file.

Jobseekers commonly make the mistake of duplicating their resume when they write the cover letter-- although many of them just plain forget to write the cover letter to begin with! Instead, the cover letter should complement and expand upon the resume.

Put yourself in someone else's place and imagine that you have to sort through a bunch of different resumes. They're all printed on nice, white paper. They're all covered in skills and objectives.

Quite a few of them have letters, some of them very long. Overwhelming, isn't it? Set yourself apart. Write a cover letter that grasps the attention of the reader and gives them several reasons to turn to the next page.

But how do you begin? Look for examples of resume cover letters posted on the internet. You'll find cover letters available for all kinds of different jobs in several different formants. Use your favorite search engine to find them easily.

Now, if someone that the company or interviewer knows well has referred you and also gave you permission to use their name in your cover letter, do it! Networking referrals are a powerful tool, and can ensure that your resume at least gets read.

Look over the job description carefully. Reference it in your cover letter, mentioning appropriate skills that make you a great candidate. This is where it can be tempting to simply repeat what's in your resume, but it offers a great chance to go a step further. Remember the job description, and tell the readers how your skills will benefit the company.

First and foremost, imagine that the interviewer is reading and asking, "What's in it for me?" Chances are that's exactly what the interviewer's thinking every time he or she is reading resume cover letters. If you answer well, the interview will be yours!

--
Need the Perfect Resume? Visit Make a Resume.
