To be able to dance you need to be able to understand beat. The beat is one of the few elements that carries through from classical to rap music. Learning to move and finding classes is the easy part of dance. Before you can find classes, you need to find the right style of dance to suit you.

There is a selection of dance types to choose from, as well as different types of levels. There are evening classes for those who wish to dance as a hobby, and there are academies for those who wish to create a life out of it.

The most classical version of dance is ballet. Ballet involves a good sense of grace, elegance and focus. The traditional dress code for ballet for girls is a pair of light pink ballet shoes, stockings, tutu and a leotard. Generally, the colour theme for these items is in shades of pinks. Men also have to wear ballet shoes, with stockings and a leotard. Their colours are normally blue and black.

Ballet involves being able to stand on the very edge of your toes. This takes years of practise and hard work to achieve. You also have to be subtle, able to do the splits and have good balance. Some of the movements include twirling, jumping and walking on you toes, sideways, across the stage. In partnership, men have to have good upper-body strength as they have to hold the girls by the hips, as they balance in horizontal positions.

Unfortunately, being a professional ballet dancer doesn’t only require being able to move with grace. Your body type plays a role as well. The ideal body type is slender and medium height (just taller then 5ft). Your legs have to be in good proportion to your upper body. To be a professional ballet dancer, you need to start as soon as possible, from the age of ten or less.

However, there are ballet classes for inspiring dancers who didn’t start young and want to do it as a hobby. Ballet is normally accompanied by classical music, such as Beethoven. It was made famous with dances such as “The Sugar Plum Fairy” and “The Nutcracker.”

For those of you who lack elegance, but make up for it in passion, look into modern dance. Modern dance has risen in popularity, as the music is upbeat and there is a fair amount of freedom.

Unlike ballet, where dance moves are categorised and defined, modern dance still allows for unexpected movement. It focuses on the motion and rhythm of the music, rather than the style and positioning. What comes across in modern dance is passion and ability to feel the beat and rhythm of the music.

Ideally, modern dance should be started at a young age, but it isn’t necessary. A lot of dancers only truly discover their love for music in their early twenties. Being flexible is an advantage, but not a necessity. The dress code is generally casual. You can wear what you want, as long as it doesn’t restrict you in movement. Most modern dancers are barefoot.

Once you have mastered the basics, dancers are encouraged to think of different moves and styles to add to the group. Although there are some solo modern dances, generally you dance as a group, in lines. The movement is abrupt, quick and action packed.

Modern dancing became popular with music videos. The dance generally incorporates the latest hits, or conversely back-up dancers for popular videos use modern dancing. There have been movies such as “Center Stage” which incorporates ballet and modern techniques together.

If you prefer less elegance than ballet, but not the full body movement of the modern dancer, then take into consideration tap dancing. This is wonderful form of dancing that has rising and sunk only to rise again in popularity. There are different forms of tap dancing, ranging from street to formal.

Street tap dancing is where dancers are given more freedom to move, flinging their arms and taking on one-to-one challenges. In the formal version, arms are to the side, with backs straight. The formal version only allows dancers to move their feet, whereas with the street form dancers move their whole bodies.

Tap dancing involves wearing shoes with metal pieces on the tip and heel of the sole of the shoe. By tapping with your feet, the metal will create a noise against the floor. During training, you can manipulate your ankles and feet to create a beat using this technique. Generally there is no music with tap dancing. If there is music, it is a track with no beat or drums, as the rhythm is tapped out by the dancer.

Traditionally, tap shoes were created out of sophisticated closed black shoes. Today, tap dancers are using hiking boots and other forms of shoes, for a different feel and sound.

Tap dancing had a popular uprising due to “Lord of the Rings” as well as Disney’s movie “Happy Feet.” There are academies that teach the strict formal dancing style, but there are also classes that have moved to trendy vibe, including steel drums with the dance.

There are many different types of dance, incorporating different parts of the body, styles and taste in music. If you are interested in taking up dance as a hobby or lifetime career, you have to first find your niche in the market. By taking the type of music that you feel most comfortable with, you can then decide what type of movement you enjoy. For most dance courses you need focus, but before you can pick the class, you need to find which type holds your groove.

--
Celeste is a reviewer for popular Dance Music News portal, where you can get the latest news on your favourite dance music artists.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Sexy Jobs

In a recent survey, ten jobs were rated as being the sexiest in the world. There were some ones that were obvious, some that worked best for men and others for women. There were also jobs that for some reason, despite the stereotypical sexuality associated with them, didn’t make the list. The list does give away certain factors that make a job have sex appeal.

Entertainers and models were the first on the list, which is not surprising. Celebrities are always on the cover of magazines and who has heard of an ugly model? If you think of movies such as “Troy”, “A Knights Tale” and other heartthrob films, finding entertainers sexy is easy. They do this simply by making you fall in love with the main character.

One profession that made it, with females in the position, was nursing. This sexy profession come up as number 6 on the list. It’s no secret that a lot of men find the short white dress and little hat sexy.

Looking at some of the other professions on the list, such as fireman, military and construction workers, it would seem that the uniform is the sexiest part. The actual job itself might not be as sexy in action. Nurses have quite a few aspects to their job, such as cleaning out the bedpan, which are unappealing.

Although some uniform jobs didn’t make it, just by looking at the comments, airhostess, marines and police people came pretty close to the list. There is something about a uniform, with clean lines and its tailored made cut that attracts the opposite sex.

Twenty/thirty years ago, uniforms were created for durability, but today uniform designers have realised that the sexy element is part of the attraction of the job, and are creating uniforms with this in mind. Surveys have shown that an airhostess uniform and attraction play a vital role in flying experiences.

Even professions that don’t have a uniform as such, but have a specific style such as "librarian", are considered a sexy. Librarians combine not only the uniform look with a pencil skirt, glasses and white shirt, but also the stereotype that any minute she will unleash her tight bun hair, take off her glasses and reveal her wild side.

Looking at the other jobs on the list, uniforms go hand in hand with stereotyping. On the list of top sexy jobs, artists were included just after nurses. Generally artists are not that sexy, but if you think of the stereotype, then all of a sudden they are.

This would imply that the root of a sexy job is at the core of who makes the stereotype. The answer to that is the first group on the list, the entertainers. Actors and actresses have, for years, played parts in movies that show the glamorous side to a profession. They give the position a look and association of sexuality to it. For example, the artist stereotype, as mentioned above. Generally you would think of Van Gogh, or Salvador Dali. But actors and actresses have turned the image around.

With blue eyes and tussled blonde hair, Leonardo Di Caprio brought a new meaning to sexy artists in his role of Jack on “Titanic”. He drew Rose, played by Kate Winslet, in the nude - much to the upset of her fiancé. For men, actress Rachael Leigh Cook changed the artist's image in her role as Laney Boggs in “She’s All That.” Although in the beginning of the movie her role is dull and uncomplimentary, with the help of Zach Siler, played by Freddie Prinze Jr., her image changes into one of glamour.

Brad Pitt contributed to the hot businessman image in both “Mr and Mrs Smith”, as well as “Meet Joe Black.” In both movies, Pitt wore a tailored suit for the majority of the movie. Although he is not the first actor to look good in a suit, Pitt will probably remain an icon for the stereotypical business image.

Teachers have to thank Julia Roberts for bringing a sexy edge to their profession. Roberts plays the role of an art teacher, where women were still suppressed into housewife role models, in "Mona Lisa Smile". Michelle Pfeiffer also added to the sexy schoolteacher image, with her role in the movie “Dangerous Minds” which was released in 1995.

As entertainers are number one on the list, they are responsible for giving the other professions on the list such a makeover. As long as there are Jane Krakowski actresses playing sexy secretary roles, for example her role as Elaine Vassal in Ally McBeal, certain professions will always be rated as attractive, regardless of the actual work involved.

--
Celeste writes for Office and Workplace Service, who specialise information about the Employment Industry.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

On the 23rd of January 2008, online voting has come to a halt for IDMA (International Dance Awards). The votes will be tallied for this year’s premier awards show for the dance music industry. The count has not been reported, but last year there were over 10, 000 ballots ranging from all over the world. The votes go to the most innovative and elite artists, producers, promoters, re-mixers and record labels in the industry.

IDMA is hosted by WMA (Winter Music Conference), a networking event held in the US. WMA attracts professionals from over 60 countries, globally, bringing them together.

There are over 40 categories that voters can register their favourite dance artist to. Last year Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit, by Freddie Le Grand, took away three awards. The categories he won in were “Best Underground Dance Track”, “Best Break Through Artist” and “Best Breaks/Electro Sound.”

Marcus Adams directed the music video for the sound track. There are two versions of the video, a regular track and late night with extended footage. The video features a science lab with female robots creating multiple male androids. The male androids undergo a test by the female robots. At the end, a male android clicks what is going on and escapes, causing the whole laboratory to shut down.

The soundtrack was used for Eminem’s Detroit based hip-hop crew, D-12. They created a vocal version over the soundtrack for their record. Le Grand has made three compilation albums: The Ministry of Sound, Sessions and Top of the Clubs 33.

The awards are to be held in March this year at South Beach, Miami. The IDMA falls into one of the six days of the dance music seminars. Other events happening during the six days will be a session on how to make your own music label, a DJ spin off and workshops on remixing.

The DJ spin off will be co-hosted by DJ Shortee and Felix Sam. The DJs will battle it out for first place in two separate categories: beat matching and scratching. Some of the areas that judges will be looking for include technical abilities, blending, creativity and showmanship. Leading audio and apparel manufactures, which are sponsoring the event, will be providing the prizes.

During the week that WMC holds the event in Miami, top DJs that have entered for the awards will be doing live performances in the area. For five nights, specific venues will have non-stop club events, with both famous and up-and-coming DJs from around the world.

During the day, there will be a record collectors exhibit and trading at the WMC host site, the Miami Beach Resort and Spa. Record collectors from all over the world will be able to buy, sell and trade their vinyls. WMC are providing listening stations for testing and reviewing the records.

Overall, the week promises to be dance-tech packed, from parties at night to shows during the day. The awards will have a pre-cocktail event and will be followed by an after party, with top DJs doing their stuff on the mixers.

--
Celeste is a reviewer for popular Dance Music News portal, where you can get the latest news on your favourite dance music artists.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

For those of you who are on Facebook, you have probably already been asked to join a group something along the lines of “Cindy’s cell fell in the loo, please email your phone numbers”. If you haven’t seen similar groups, then you probably have heard similar stories. People put their phones in their back pockets, only for them to fall out when they are getting up from the toilet. It’s not only cell-phones that are losing their numbers through odd mishaps, but other forms of data as well.

Gareth, from Cape Town, South Africa, had just received his first 2GB memory stick. Although 2GB are fairly common today, when he received it, it was still state of the art hardware. Part of the appeal was that the memory stick was waterproof. His friends didn’t think so.

On Friday night, at the bar, they decided to test if the memory stick was indeed waterproof. In theory, if it was waterproof then it should be beer proof as well. Much to Gareth’s dismay as he watched his friends pop the memory stick in a draft, it turned out that it wasn’t. Luckily Gareth was able to recover his data, but the memory stick died of alcohol poisoning.

Kroll data recovery specialists have marked some of the strangest stories that they received over the last year from people requesting data recovery from them. One story is of a woman who literally washed her data away when she left her memory stick in her pocket and popped it in the washing machine. She realised after the first cycle as she noticed the USB stick rotating amongst her clothes. One wash and the stick was cleaned off all data.

Another person who was unable to retrieve his data was a local fisherman who took his laptop onboard with him. He was passing the time by playing a few games, when a fish starting biting the line. In his enthusiasm, he jumped up making the boat unstable. Both him and his laptop went plummeting overboard into the lake.

A photographer had a career panic when he realised that he had overwritten wedding photos with other photos from another event. Fortunately the photos were recovered, without seeing the full wrath of the bride.

However, businessmen in Australia weren’t so lucky. In a heated argument, a businessman threw his USB stick at his partner. The memory stick, which held the company plans and other vital documents, fell to the floor in several pieces.

Proving that science isn’t always the answer, two different scientists managed to kill their hard drives in two different ways. The first accidentally poured acid onto his, instantly killing the drive. The second got annoyed with the squeaking noises coming from the hard drive, so decided to drill a little hole into the hard drives casing. He then proceeded to pour oil through the oil. The squeaking stopped, but so did the hard drive.

For some unfortunate workers, a fire destroyed their office, burning the majority of the contents and damaging most of their systems. To their glee they discovered that a few CDs had survived the flames. In an unfortunate turn of events, upon opening the CD cases, they discovered that the heat had caused the CDs to melt onto the inside of their cases.

In a rather frustrating event, researchers decided to test the functionality of a parachute by attaching a camera to the parachute. When the parachute failed to open, the camera smashed into several pieces, destroying the test results.

According to Kroll, their strangest story was one from Thailand. A man had discovered that ants had decided to live in his external hard drive. Acting on impulse, he took the cover off the hard drive and sprayed the entire interior with insect repellent. The insects passed on and so did the hard drive, until the data recovery specialists got hold of it.

--
Celeste does writing for Data Recovery Resource, which is the number one site for data recovery information.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Stand-Up Comedians Make a Come back

Unless you are a fan of stand-up comedians, they generally come and go in the spotlight. There will be a rush of demand, or one stand-up comedian makes it big, and then they fade away until the next big hit. But there are a few comedians that have made it big without ever disappearing again.

US comedian, Jeff Dunham is one of them. Although, you can’t really say ‘one’ when referring to Jeff’s act. Jeff is a ventriloquist with about 5 plus dummies that join him on stage. He became famous with his live show: "Arguing with Myself", which aired on Comedy Central. It was one of the network's highest rated hour-long stand-up specials. The show was aired every month for the past year, and the DVD won quintuple platinum.

Some of Jeff’s most popular dummies include Peanut, Walter, Jose Jalapeno and from his latest act, Spark of Insanity, Achemed the Dead Terrorist. Peanut has been one of Jeff’s longest acts. According to Peanut, he is a woozle that was born in Micronesia in the Pacific Ocean. He is a self-described comic genius.

Walter has been with Jeff since the very beginning. Walter’s act generally orientates around his wife, to whom he has been married for 48 years. He is generally a brash, negative, sarcastic character, who doesn’t care what people think of him.

In the act, Walter describes marriage life as drinking a slurpy, “(the) First couple of sips, it's like ‘Boy this is really good! I'm glad I did this!’ Then you keep drinking, it goes right to your head, and you go "Ow, Ow, Ooooow! What the hell was I thinking? Someone kill me please!"

Jeff then tells Walter that eventually the sensation goes away. Walter agrees and then says, “Until you take another sip!”

In Jeff’s recent act, "Spark of Insanity", he dives into the political area, with his latest dummy, Achmed, the Dead Terrorist. Achmed explains that he was a suicide bomber; however, the bomb went off early. He doesn’t realise that he is dead until Jeff points it out. He believes that the reason behind him being a skeleton is due to a flesh wound.

He is famous for his one liner, of telling the audience to “Shut up…I kill you.” When asked if he is Muslim, he declines, explaining that it says “Made In China” on his backside.

Another famous comedian is UK stand-up comedian, Eddie Izzard. Eddie has toured around Europe and, more recently, the US. He is a transvestite who describes himself as a male lesbian. The reason for his dress and make-up tastes, he declares, is his belief in 100% clothing rights for all. Since women can wear pants, men should be able to wear skirts.

On his website he explains that he takes ideas and situations, and then extrapolates them into bizarre, tangential, absurd and surreal comic narratives. He is the first to admit that he gets paid well for talking bollocks. The good pay is because, unlike the "bollocks" most of us talk, his is funny.

These are just two examples of stand-up comedians that have made it with a large enough fan base to keep surviving. However, there is new talent hitting the cameras with a lot of potential to get stand-up comedians a confirmed spot in the limelight.

--
Celeste writes for <a href="http://arts-and-entertainment-news.info/”>Arts and Entertainment News, who specialise in <A HREF=">/ http://arts-and-entertainment-news.info/">news for the arts and entertainment industry.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Wedding Checklist

Getting your boyfriend to propose might be the hardest part to getting married for most women. However, it’s not soon afterwards, when they are trying to turn their dreams into reality, that they realise the hardest part is still to come. With so much to do and so little time, it’s best to get a checklist and start planning your wedding as soon as you’ve got the engagement ring.

The first thing is to set a date for your wedding. Once you have a date, you have a goal. Then comprise a list of guests. This will give you an indication of what type of venues, and ceremony, you can organise. The next step is to set a financial range and budget, as well as work out who is going to pay for what.

Family and finances can sometimes get a bit tricky, so it’s best to find out if it’s just you and your fiancé paying, or if parents are going to contribute. If they are, then find out what and how much they are willing to do so. You don’t want finances to became a big downer on the occasion, and it’s best that you sort this part out as soon as possible.

Most women have dreamt about their wedding from a young age and chances are you probably know exactly what you want. However, you might have to compromise a few things for the budget, or because your fiancé has a few suggestions of his own. Write and formalise the type of wedding theme you want, so that everyone is on the same page.

Do research in venues and try to go to a wedding convention to get some ideas of what is out there. Now that you know your budget, number of people you are going to host and what you want, you can ask the venue’s owner the right questions as to whether he or she can accommodate you or not.

Although you might want to organise the whole wedding yourself, think about getting an event co-ordinator in, even if it just for the actual day. The last thing you want is to be concerned about little things on your wedding day.

Consider whether you want children or not at the wedding, as this will have an influence on your guest list. This might also influence the time of wedding, as children might get tired and restless if the wedding goes on till late in the evening.

The first part of planning is mostly to do with doing research into everything from quotations on flower decorations to finding a photographer. Six to nine months before the wedding, you can finally start booking and arranging everything.

By now, you should know what type of dress you want and start with fitting sessions if you are getting it made. You can start discussing menus with your caterer and choose flowers with your florist.

At four months, you can start sending invitations out and start your wedding gift register. It is recommended that you have the pair of shoes you want to wear at the wedding and start breaking them in. A lot of brides who wear new shoes on the day start having feet problems half way through the reception.

If you have any guests from out of town, then start finding out if they need help finding accommodation. Now is also the time to organise a rehearsal dinner for your wedding.

At two months, you should have gotten your RSVPs back and have a finalised guest list. From this point on, you should just be finalising your plans. Make the last arrangements for the cake, including the topper. Check the flower order and make sure you have all your papers for the marriage license.

At about a month beforehand, you can sort out your hairstyle for the wedding and start making appointments for your make-up, hair, nails and any other beauty touch-ups. Shop for the last couple of items, such as a guest book, and ring pillow.

In the last week, sort out the details with your co-ordinator for the day and pick up tickets and travellers checks for your honeymoon. Your wedding dress and attire should be finished now. Make sure that everything fits on everybody, from flower girls to the groom.

If you have planned and organised everything, then on your wedding you should only have to do one thing: be a beautiful bride and enjoy the day.

--
Celeste has been writes for an online-marketing company, whose client is Wedding News which specializes in giving the latest news on professional Weddings.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

In the heart of the UK is a region of land that has been unspoilt and preserved, making it the ideal spot for movies that appeal to older folks. This year the Derbyshire’s Peak District is used in the film, The Other Boleyn Girl, starring Scarlett Johansson as Mary Boleyn. This might cause a rise in tourism in the district as more travellers become aware of this hidden paradise.

The district has been a backdrop for a couple of movies over the year, set in the 18th Century, with its old estates and surrounding hills. In 2006, Derbyshire’s Peak District was the location for Pride and Prejudice, starring Keira Knightly and Matthew Macfadyen. The estates used as film locations include the Chatsworth estate and the Haddon Hall.

This isn’t the first time Haddon Hall has seen cameras surrounding it. Last year the hall was a feature in the BBC TV program, Jane Eyre. It was also used in The Golden Age, the second of the Elizabeth I movies. The Golden Age stars Cate Blanchett.

The Other Boleyn Girl is based on an historic novel, written by Philippa Gregory. The novel revolves around the life of 16th Century aristocrat, Mary Boleyn. Although the book reviews received mixed acclaim, it has become successful with scattered high ratings since it was published in 2002. Following the success of The Other Boleyn Girl novel, four sequels have been written; The Queens Fool, The Virgin’s Lover, The Constant Princess and the Boleyn Inheritance.

The film is a dramatic love story, with miscommunications, rumours and deceptions that are played out between the characters. It tells a tale of two sisters who compete for the love of the King. Anne, played by Natalie Portman, and Mary, played by Scarlett Johansson, are driven by their family to seduce the King and to make him fall in love with them. King Henry VII, played by Eric Bana, ultimately sleeps with both sisters, but in the end chooses only one to be Queen. She sacrifices her life for the throne, while the other sister is forgotten. It is set to be released in March in the UK.

Derbyshire’s Peak District is a county in the East Midlands of England. The majority of the district’s national park lies within Derbyshire itself. The northern part of Derbyshire overlaps the Pennines hills and mountains.

The district was the peak of population and popularity in the twelfth century. Today the buildings from that era still stand on their original estates, making the region full of historical heritage. The surrounding hills and planes maintain their original natural landscapes. The region hosts hikes, cycling, mountain biking and adventure sports such as rock climbing and hang-gliding, to name a few, for tourists to enjoy. The village holds a range of bed and breakfasts as well guest houses for visitors to stay in.

The country is famous for it's beauty, with old trees and fields of grass. There are old stone bridges built over brooks and streams, with classical black and white cows munching grass on the hills. The buildings are grand, and created with stones and large bay windows. On top of some of the roofs on the estates are turrets and sculptures, detailed to the Twelfth Century style. There is wonderful quaint village atmosphere around Derbyshire’s Peak District, with its cobble stone roads and wooden fences.

Films depicting the beautiful district on the big screen have contributed to a boost in the tourism industry. The landscape still maintains the beauty and simplicity of greenery from centuries ago, making it ideal not only for filmmakers, but also for tourists needing a bit of space and fresh air.

--
Celeste writes for Travel and Tourism News, which is a portal for all travel and tourism information.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Ice has been on the planet for thousands of years, but it’s only been the last 100 years that people have been able to fully benefit from this natural creation. Before that, it was only people living close to the poles that would have been able to harvest ice for use. Since the invention of the refrigerator, however, ice has been used more and more in daily life.

Instant sorbet can be made in seconds by taking advantage of the cooling properties of ice. Pour a glass of fruit juice into a water-seal packet. Fill a larger packet with 2 cups of ice, 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of water. Place the smaller, sealed fruit juice packet into the larger one filled with ice, salt and water. Shake the bag for a few seconds, until the fruit juice becomes the desired consistency.

The salt in the water will release the coolness from the ice quicker, by causing it to melt faster. This will freeze the juice, turning it into instant sorbet. Take the fruit juice bag out of the larger one and scoop the sorbet out into a bowl.

Another tip with the combination of salt and ice is making cool drinks ice cold quicker. It’s always been a bit of problem when guests start arriving and you realise that you haven’t put the drinks on ice yet. There is nothing worse than having a luke-warm coke. But placing drinks in an ice bucket will take up to an hour before they get to a cold temperature.

The solution is to fill a bowl with ice, add one to two cups of salt, fill with water and place the cool drinks in the mixture. Stir the cans in the bowl and within seconds the cool drink will be ice cold.

Another discovery, which saves time, is peeling potatoes in seconds with the help of ice. By placing a hot potato into ice water, at about 45 F, the potato releases it's skin because of the quick temperature change. Leave the potato in the ice water for about 5 seconds and then take it out. Grab the potato with two hands. Gentle slide the potato skin off by pulling the skin in opposite directions. The skin will come off with ease. No more picking the skin off in little pieces and getting mash potato under your fingernails.

Of course the best quick tip of the century is being able to cool a whole room in minutes with air conditioning. You can simple rent one for the summer, so you don’t have to find storage place for it in winter, and turn it on. The air conditioning unit sucks the warm air in and the pushes it through a cooling unit. It then blows the cool air out.

In order to get the full potential of the cool air, you need to place the air conditioner in a strategic position where the air can move around the room. Generally, a corner of the room is the best place for a portable air conditioner. Another tip is to shut the doors to unused rooms. This will enclose the area you wish to cool and thereby speed the process up by working on a smaller concentrated area.

Ice is simply frozen water but it has more uses than just popping cubes of it into your drink to cool it down. There are plenty of other ways to make use of frozen water, which are we only beginning to tap into.

--
Celeste writes for Ice Boys, who specialize in portable Air conditioning.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

If you have ever printed graphics, images or photos, you probably have seen that what was on the screen isn’t always what comes out of the printer. Colour shades might come out darker or lighter and sometimes they might come out completely different to the colour you had. If you are creating an image that you know will be printed, there are a couple of things you can do to prevent these hitches from happening.

The first step is to remember that a computer screen uses RGB colours and printers generally use CMYK. This means that your screen is composed of red, green and blue, which is different to the printer’s cyan, magenta, yellow and key (black).

Most graphic programs will allow you to change the image into CMYK in the mode section. The image on the screen will be closer to the printed version if you change the image to the correct colour combination that your printer uses. It is best to work from CMYK from the start, however, if you are altering an already existing image then change the mode as soon as you can.

If you are scanning images in then use as high a resolution as you can. Rather have a file that is too detailed than one that isn’t detailed at all. The higher the resolution means the higher the DPI (dots per inch). The more dots per inch an image has, the better the quality is. You can always lower the resolution at a later stage, but if you are going to print, then try use as high as possible.

You can get away with a low DPI for websites or any images that will stay on PC. But as soon as you print, every flaw will become obvious. The result will be your images looking pixelated.

The file type you use also plays an important role in your design to print process. Try and keep the file in its native file type for the programme as long as possible. For example, if you are creating the image in Photoshop, then keep the file in .psd format until you are ready to print. You can always save another copy in .jpeg for clients to see the process, as long as you return to your original .psd version when printing.

By doing this you minimise the gradual quality downgrade, which occurs with every conversion you do to the file. This happens particularly when you open your document, alter the image and resave, close and re-open over and over again. The more you resave and reopen the image, the more the quality drops. By keeping the format in it’s natural state, you minimise the chances of low quality colour printing.

There are ways of checking which type of formats your printer works best in. Either read in the manual or ask the assistant when you get the printer. If you outsource your printing, phone the company and find out which format is best for their printers.

While you're talking to them, also check what their bleed lines are on the printer. Most printers are generally an eighth of an inch further on all sides. Checking the bleed line will ensure that you don’t end up with your image being cut off of on one side. Some of the more advanced graphic programs have a feature that automatically compensates for bleed lines.

The most important thing to remember is that if you are outsourcing your printing to just ask your printing company what they recommend. They know their printers the best and probably will be thankful that you had the forethought to check with them. It will save frustration on both your sides. The result will be a high quality image, with perfect lines and correct shades of colour.

--
Celeste writes for Circle Leaflet Printing, who specialize in professional printing in the UK.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

There is a lot of emphasis on the health benefits of vegetables, herbs and fruits . Farmers are turning away from pesticides and hormone enhanced food, to produce products that are healthy and more natural for a growing demand of pure produce. The only catch with this new trend is that it is expensive.

For families and individuals that would prefer a healthier eating plan but can’t afford the added expense, there is another option: create your own organic garden. Before you start mumbling about time, further expenses and lack of space, there are options to help you avoid that.

Gardens can be created out of containers, such as tubs, boxes and baskets. Using containers is a great way to utilise a small garden space, or create a garden on a balcony. Maintaining the containers is easier than if the plants where in the garden. If you have a small space, then containers are a great option.

You could use a rectangular container for your kitchen windowsill, where you can plant your herbs. That way, when you are cooking, you can simply reach over and pinch off herbs, as you need them. The great thing about herbs and some vegetables is the more you use them, the better they grow.

Some herbs to start off with, which are hardy and easy to grow, are Oregano, Basil, and Thyme. Most herbs only grow during season and then die off. Try and plant a mix of winter and summer herbs to ensure that you have herbs all year round to use. Keep in mind that some herbs, such as Rosemary and Lavender, grow into large bushes and might need a big pot rather than a windowsill container.

If you are concerned with the extra cost of a garden, then do research in creating your own homemade fertiliser and insect repellent. There is no point in growing your own produce only to smother it in chemicals. There are a variety of ways to create your own sprays for insects and make your own fertiliser from items that you already have.

To make an organic fertiliser, soak eggshells in water over night. Eggshells are filled with nutrients that will release into the water. The next day, pour the solution over your plants as a natural fertiliser.

To repel insects and snails in one organic spray, get a bulb of garlic and a spray bottle. Blend about two cups of water with the bulb of garlic. Let the solution rest for a day. The blended garlic will release its naturally insect repellent quantities into the water. After a day, strain the water to remove the garlic bits. Pour the solution into a litre of water and shake. Spray the solution on leaves of your garden. And you thought that garlic was only good for bad breath.

If you are nervous about starting your own garden, there are some vegetables that are perfect for beginners. Tomatoes are hardy growers, and don’t require a lot of attention. They can be planted in containers and need about half a day’s worth of sun. Unless it’s been a particularly scotching day, tomatoes generally require watering once a week.

Run with a salad theme and grow lettuce as well. Lettuce is also easy to grow, but requires more water than the tomatoes. When picking which lettuce to grow, choose a variety pack for a selection of different types. Green peppers are also a great option as they can be grown in containers next to the tomatoes.

Try a couple of types of vegetables first until you are comfortable. Once you think you have the hang of it, invest in some more of your favourite types. Choose vegetables that you use often to get the maximum potential from your garden. Even if you don’t grow enough for your daily consumption, at least you know where your vegetables came from and how they were grown.

--
Celeste does writing for Garden and Home News, which is a portal site for all garden and home information.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com
