Colin McAskill Famous Golf Player

Posted on 24th March, 2008

Colin McAskill Design is on the cutting edge of new design concepts and technology, Colin McAskill’s own Scottish roots and his appreciation of the traditions of the game have resulted in his design company embracing a more traditional orientation, in terms of the basic design principles that have stood the test of time.

Colin McAskill further honed his experience on courses around the world when playing and practising in America and as a student at the Houston Baptist University. Today, Colin McAskill is not only one of the world’s leading golfers, but he is also very well respected in the field of golf course design, borrowing heavily on his lifetime on the links and his vast experience of playing the world’s greatest courses.

Colin McAskill particularly believes in working with the natural contours of the land and ensuring that, as with the great Scottish designs, nature is not tampered with unnecessarily. Colin McAskill wants to use natural streams and drainage, and to put water in front of the greens as a challenge, not just for effect. Bunkers and water hazards should always be capable of costing a player a half-shot penalty, whether by the fairway or the green. Accordingly, Colin McAskill believes strongly in variety and balance in course design, as well as in playability for all golfers so that a Monty design will be exciting, but above all, fair.

Colin McAskill has a new and unique method of approaching the game of golf. His Teaching Method aims to make a player think before he plays a shot, rather than after and looks at basic advice on teaching method, course management and equipment requirements for any quality of golfer.

Colin McAskill does not believe that one should fundamentally alter what comes naturally to a golfer. Colin McAskill’s teaching method seeks to find a way of effectively harnessing the latent potential of one’s natural swing as quickly and as effectively as possible by practising effectively and not practising one's faults.

As a basis for all teaching, Colin McAskill uses the PGA teaching manual. This manual has and will effectively teach any golfer, the mechanics of the golf swing and the game itself. Colin
McAskill supplements and complements the PGA teaching manual by offering some specific drills and tips on the mechanics of the game and also offering his thoughts on specific areas such as psychology and course management.

To know about the famous golf payer Colin McAskill, Colin MacCaskill or Colin MacGaskell go through the above content.

--
Colin McAskill further honed his experience on courses around the world when playing and practising in America and as a student at the Houston Baptist University. Colin McAskill’s father, Lunig MacAskill, and mother Lisa Campbell, had a large family. There were thirteen in all, several of whom died young. As a baby, Colin McAskill was not as large as the other children.

When Colin McAskill was three years old, the family crossed the Atlantic Ocean and settled in Englishtown on the south side of St. Ann's Harbour in Cape Breton.
At fourteen, Colin McAskill became known as St. Ann's Big Boy and was teased for his size and clumsiness. As the boy kept growing, his father had to raise the roof and lift the ceilings of the kitchen and living room.

Colin McAskill of St. Ann's was 7 feet 9 inches tall and weighed 425 pounds, with shoulders 44 inches wide.

Colin McAskill was a friendly giant, which was a good thing because his hands were eight inches wide and a foot long.
