Studies show that youth that whose families income is in the lowest 20 percentile are six times more likely to leave school without finishing their diploma than those whose families income are in the highest 20 percent. When it comes to education, economics can most certainly play a role. Many of those interviewed cited the reason for their leaving school as the need for them to contribute to the household income, simply for survival. For these students, the desire was to remain in school, yet they were unable to do so.

Jack Spencer was one such student from Boston who found himself leaving high school at the beginning of the 12th grade in order to help his mother supplement the family income and to help rear his younger brother and sister. Once he had established himself as a plumbing apprentice, Jack decided that it was time to finish his education, so that he could move up in his current position. “I was told by my boss that while I was a great worker, and a solid employee, he wasn’t able to give me further responsibilities because it required a higher level of Math than I had. He also stated that the company preferred to promote employees with a high school diploma, which I did not have. I decided to do some research on the internet and that is how I found out that I could do one better than attaining a GED, that I could work from home and attain my diploma. I was finished in less than six months, and was promoted not long after.”

At Citizens School we understand this reality that afflicts one out of each hundred students who begin their high school education, but are unable to finish. That is why we keep our tuition and supply costs very low, so that it is attainable by virtually everyone who wishes to continue their disrupted education.

In addition, the difference between attaining your diploma from home, attaining it through school, is that you are able to maintain a full time job while studying, rather than going to school full time, and working part time. That way, you are still able to work the same amount of hours that your household requires, while still attaining the education that you know will improve your employability.

The best part is that you are able to do so, at your own speed, with guidance from our tutors and will online help to get you motivated, answer your questions, and relieve your anxieties. At any age, Citizens School is able to help you attain your goals of achieving the education you want, while not disruption your current work schedule.

As well, we are able to offer you payment assistance, such as a flexible payment schedule so that you don’t feel the brunt of paying the bulk of our already low tuition all in one hit.

--
If you need more information visit http://www.citizenschool.com to learn about Home Schooling GED and a High School Diploma or if you prefer phone 1-800-736-GRAD (4723) or email studentservices@citizenschool.com.
The public education system has taken its lumps over the past several years. School violence, drugs, failing educational scores, overcrowding classrooms, over-emphasis on standardized test scores, unskilled teachers, lax laws protecting the rights of disruptive students, and other factors have decreased confidence many parents have in the public education system. Looking for a solution, many parents enrolled their children in private schools and found more of the same. Desperate times sometimes need desperate measures to provide relief. Today, more than at any time in history, parents are looking toward the option of home schooling to ensure their children get a quality education and find an academic springboard to a bright future.

The reasons are nearly countless. With the proliferation of the World Wide Web, parents have the option to capitalize on the educational benefits the Internet can provide. In reality, the Internet provides access to nearly the sum total of all human knowledge. With resources in schools vastly limited, the opportunity for students to learn from home is plentiful.

One of the biggest reasons that parents choose to home school their children is due to the social environment in schools. In recent years school violence such as the Columbine fiasco and other school shootings, although rare and highly publicized, have given parents food for thought. Today, there are many schools that have metal detectors at their entrances. Police are required to roam the hallways to ensure the limitation of nefarious activities within schools. Fighting and bullying is commonplace. Home schooling is a way that parents can limit their child’s exposure to a stressful environment.

Drug use among school-age children has skyrocketed in recent years. School has become a place where drugs are sold and used. Since schools are so vastly overcrowded, teachers and administration often have difficulty monitoring the activities of students. Home schooling not only gives parents the opportunity to dictate the academic curriculum of their children, but it also gives them greater control over the crowd their children associate with.

One of the biggest reasons parents turn to home schooling is the fact that they believe the education their child is getting is inadequate. Home schooling provides the opportunity for parents to generate their own curriculum according to the strengths and weaknesses of their child. With the emphasis on standard test scores and the importance these tests present for a child’s future, parents want to ensure their children have access to a quality education.

Parents choose to home school for many reasons. Some reasons may be more important than others to different parents. In the end the reasons don’t really matter. What matters are the decision and the proper execution of a home schooling plan?

--
If you need more information visit http://www.citizenschool.com to learn about Home Schooling GED and a High School Diploma or if you prefer phone 1-800-736-GRAD (4723) or email studentservices@citizenschool.com.
Why the Education System Is Broken

If you read the daily newspapers or tune in to the nightly news you may get a bad taste in your mouth. Worse, if you listen to your child after a long day at school you may also get an uncomfortable feeling. Yes, it does seem that the educational system is broken and, yes, it may be beyond repair.

There are many fractures in the fault line of the educational system. Ask parents, students, and yes, even teachers, and you will find plenty of examples. The disintegration of the educational system is due to a variety of factors. In recent years the spate of school shootings and other violence has irreparably tarnished public and private schools. Fighting in school is up and worse, it seems that laws to protect the educational rights of students who cause many of the problems in schools actually hurt the students who come to learn every day. In many schools students can get away with bullying, fighting, stealing, and disrupting the classroom environment. They may get suspended for a short time, but usually they return and pick up where they left off.

In order to save money on programs for children with special needs, schools have begun to widely mainstream students requiring special education needs into regular classrooms. While this effort is meant with good intentions, it does not always bear fruit. Oftentimes, this combination of students can do more harm than good.

When you think back to your time in school how many excellent teachers can you recall? Nearly everyone can think of one or two – if you can think of more than that you should consider yourself lucky. There are many excellent teachers in schools; however, there are even more unqualified teachers. Due to the need for teachers and the poor environment offered by many school districts, teachers who are unqualified are often hired. Many teachers are given second and third chances after they have proven to be inept at previous schools. The pay for teachers is notoriously low in many states and this does not lend itself to a highly motivated and highly qualified workforce.

The education system is indeed broken. Besides a lack of funding leading to the use of outdated books, few computers, the lack of opportunity for field trips and hands-on learning, it seems that the entire framework of education is coming apart at the seams. The only way the education system can be repaired is through massive funding and a strong dedication by society to make the system work. With treasury coffers fairly empty this does not look like it will happen anytime soon.

--
If you need more information visit http://www.citizenschool.com to learn about Home Schooling GED and a High School Diploma or if you prefer phone 1-800-736-GRAD (4723) or email studentservices@citizenschool.com.
When you choose to do your high school diploma from home, you not only have the capability of working at your own pace, without the distractions and stresses that the high school social scene poses, but you also have the capability of choosing the classes that you want, from a far wider variety of option than what your local high school would be able to offer you through night school.

At Citizens School, we realize that while economics and the need to work full time is a primary motivator for people to leave school prior to achieving their diploma, we also realize that there are many other factors at play. Our marketing team research has clearly shown that not only do students leave school out of a need, they also leave school out of desire, the desire to be stimulated more than what their local high school could provide.

One interviewee, Jason, put it most bluntly, “I left school because I was bored. Plain and simple. The high school that I went to, did not offer the kinds of courses that I was interested in taking. They offered all the necessary stuff, for sure, like Math and Languages, things like that. My interests lie more on the artistic side and there was not anything there to stimulate me. I finally gave up, I felt like I was wasting my time.”

That is when Jason realized that at Citizens School, the choices in course selection are endless. He came across our information while searching for other options and realized that he would be able to take artistic classes like painting and graphic design through our institution, while still achieving a federally recognized high school diploma. While adhering to official requirement for a high school diploma, we are able to offer a more outstanding selection that stimulate our students, while they also complete the required courses to achieve what they ultimately are looking for – a high school diploma with a breadth of selection that is unparalleled.

So, if you are thinking that you want to achieve a high school diploma, but the idea of it makes you cringe from the memories of high school boredom, remember that you have more opportunities than you think.

--
If you need more information visit http://www.citizenschool.com to learn about Home Schooling GED and a High School Diploma or if you prefer phone 1-800-736-GRAD (4723) or email studentservices@citizenschool.com.
If you are concerned about the education your child is receiving at either a public or private school, you may have considered the option of home schooling. There are many advantages to home schooling that are easy to think of, but in making your decision you must also consider the disadvantages. Yes, despite all the bonuses you can think of in home schooling your child, there are many disadvantages to the process.

Home schooling is a process that requires a massive amount of time and dedication. If you want to home school your child you must be present for a large part of the day. Kids are kids. Depending on how motivated by academic success your child is, he or she may not require constant supervision. However, in many studies, parental supervision is the key behind the success of home schooling programs.

Parents must also possess instructional skills or access to someone who can teach effectively. Simply putting your child in a room with textbooks will most likely result in home schooling failure. In addition, you will have to purchase materials that public and private schools provide for students.

There is also the need to be able to serve as guidance counselor as your child may require specialized instruction due to a learning disability. Public and private schools usually provide these services with qualified individuals.

One important benefit of an academic institution is the opportunity for children to become properly socialized. Attending school with other children from all walks of life leads to the development of social skills. One of the disadvantages of home schooling is the relative isolation children have from their peers.

Many parents find comfort in blaming the educational system for the shortcomings in their child’s academic performance. If you choose to home school you will be accepting full responsibility for the outcome of your child’s education. This is more of a burden than it seems. Studies have shown that many home schooling ventures fail due to the fact that the home generally lacks qualified educators. Many parents have gripes about teachers, but the fact is that they generally have to teach large classes filled with children with diverse learning needs. In addition, certified educators have taken teaching classes and have passed state examinations to receive their teaching certificates.

When you approach the issue of home schooling you must examine both sides. Sure, there are plenty of advantages, but if you forget to look into the disadvantages, you may be setting yourself up for failure.

--
If you need more information visit http://www.citizenschool.com to learn about Home Schooling GED and a High School Diploma or if you prefer phone 1-800-736-GRAD (4723) or email studentservices@citizenschool.com.
Home schooling is an option that is becoming more attractive to parents as time goes on. Schools have become increasingly unstable over the past couple of decades. Children roam the hallways unchecked, textbooks are outdated, violence is prevalent, children are bullied mercilessly, and the quality of education on the whole has greatly diminished.

What options do parents have to combat this downward spiral? Initially, private school was thought to be the answer. As enrollment in private schools soared many parents failed to see a difference between public and private schools. The problems were still the same.

The option of home schooling has been around for a long time; however, until recently it had not been so popular. The idea of home schooling seems like a cure-all to many parents due to the advantages this type of education provides over traditional schools. Children who are home schooled can avoid many of the problems schools have become known for. For one, the environment is less threatening. Children can learn without fearing other students, aggressive or nasty teachers, and be under the constant supervision of parents. In addition, home schooling allows parents to dictate the academic course of their children. Home schooling also allows students to proceed at their own speed. If a child is weak at multiplication and division, a parent can focus lessons on those skills in favor of another skill that the child might grasp rather easily.

Home schooling is also advantageous because it keeps children away from other students that may be corruptive forces. There are many students in school who do not value learning. This is not any fault of the schools; however, it is still a painful reality. These students can lead to the destruction of a stable learning environment. Home schooling keeps children focused on learning and not on avoiding social pressures.

It may sound like the perfect option, but there are many disadvantages of home schooling. First of all, home schooled children are usually less socialized. While schools can sometimes be the breeding ground for poor social behaviors, school is also a place where students learn to interact with others and build social skills. It seems a bit like a catch 22.

In addition, another drawback to home schooling could be implementation of an educational plan. Many parents are not qualified as teachers and may not understand what is necessary to ensure a child has access to the proper curriculum.

Finally, another disadvantage to home schooling is the necessity for parents to take full responsibility for their child’s education. If you choose to home school your child there is no one for you to blame if your child does poorly. The responsibility falls completely on the parent.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to home schooling. Before you begin a home schooling plan make sure you have evaluated your ability to properly instruct your child and provide a quality learning experience. If you do not think you can handle it, you might as well send your child to school but become more involved with his or her education.

--
If you need more information visit http://www.citizenschool.com to learn about Home Schooling GED and a High School Diploma or if you prefer phone 1-800-736-GRAD (4723) or email studentservices@citizenschool.com.
Many parents have lost confidence in the public and private education system. In addition to the reality of overcrowded classrooms, unqualified teachers, outdated textbooks and learning materials, parents are worried about the safety of their children. Drugs, poor educational outcomes, and school violence each contribute to the rationale behind home schooling.

Furthermore, schools, while created for all the right reasons, inexorably have become places where children become introduced to the adult world of thinking before their biological time. Children can come into contact with other students who may be negative influences. In turn, this association can lead to educational and social downfall.

To combat some of these negative associations with public schools, many parents enrolled their children in private schools. After similar outcomes the options were slim and now, parents have begun to embrace the option of home schooling their children at a higher rate than ever before.

There are many advantages to home schooling. The first is obviously piece of mind. Instead of wondering what unwanted influences are being pressed against your child all day, you know and have control over the learning environment. Besides, the option of blaming the educational system for its shortcomings is eliminated and your child’s academic progress is in your hands.

In addition, the home environment is usually, believe it or not, more adequate than learning in a school. Schools are overcrowded, noisy, frequently poorly run, and aggressive or disruptive students are oftentimes, allowed to get away with terrible behavior due to lax laws designed to “protect” the rights of students.

Furthermore, as a parent, you can choose the teachers you want. If you want to provide instruction yourself, that is your choice. If you wish to contract an educational service that operates via the Internet or closed-circuit television that is also your choice.

If your child suffers from some sort of cognitive or physical disability it gives you the chance to move quickly through hours of academic study that comes easy to your child, while focusing on the subjects that are much more difficult.

If you wish for your child to have a religious education yet you do not want him or her to attend a private school, you have the option of tailoring an educational program to encompass your theological beliefs. Public schools have been mandated to leave religion out of the classroom and, as stated earlier, the environment provided by private schools has not proven to be a panacea.

Home schooling has many advantages. When you make your decision on the subject you should have a plan for success. Home schooling is not something you should rush into – it is a commitment that has to be followed through.

--
If you need more information visit http://www.citizenschool.com to learn about Home Schooling GED and a High School Diploma or if you prefer phone 1-800-736-GRAD (4723) or email studentservices@citizenschool.com. So, many of you might be concerned with allowing your child to school from home for the same reason. You can barely get them to do their homework as it is, right? Take for instance, Stephanie Large. Stephanie was a top notch student in her high school and was highly involved in extra-curricular activities that made her a favorite amongst her peers and teachers alike. Yet, even with all her scholarly and activity-based successes, Stephanie was not content. She felt that she was not being challenged enough in her high school environment and wanted to try something different. She enrolled in a private school, hoping that the supposed higher echelon of education would give her the push that she really needed to excel, yet she soon found that there was little difference in the education and she still felt that something was missing.

Stephanie did a little researching and came across Citizens School and within a remarkably short time was able to complete our requirements to an honors standard.
