Calculating the life insurance premium is about calculating the chance of having to pay out. For non-life insurance this can be simplified to calculating the chance, multiplied by the costs. For life insurance the premium depends on three factors: costs, interest and mortality.

1. Costs

The insurer’s expenses make up the costs. Think of salaries, computers, and maintenance of buildings. It also includes the commissions to be paid to the agents. It is advisable to base the premium calculation needed for the risk on a fixed percentage of costs in the premium

2. Interest

Especially with regard to life insurance we have to consider interest. When the policy provides for a pay-out for when the insured person dies, then the insurer knows that he will have to pay out at some time. He only does not know when. In the course of the years he will receive insurance premiums that he has to reserve for the pay-out that will happen one day. Suppose that 32 years have lapsed between taking out an insurance policy and the moment of dying, then the insurer will have received interest over 32 years on the first premium payment, over 31 years on the second payment, etc.

If we assume a premium of Rs 100 and a rate of interest of 5% per year, the insurer will receive in premiums and interest: [100*1.0532] + [100*1.0531] + [100*1.0530] + etc. This is 476+454+432+ etc. = 7,906. Especially when it involves a longer period the effects on interest income are huge. In 30 years a 5% rate of interest has more than quadrupled the amount.

The Mortality factor deals with an estimate that the insurer has in mind when he will calculate the Life insurance premium for the policy and accordingly he will place in front of you the life insurance policies which is more suitable to your life.

The Campton Place, San Francisco will become the company's third hotel in the U.S. In 2005, Taj Hotels entered into a lease agreement to operate and manage The Pierre on New York's Central Park. Taj Hotels also assumed full ownership of the 1927 Boston landmark hotel overlooking the Public Garden at Arlington and Newbury streets, now known as Taj Boston, in January 2007. The company plans to acquire luxury hotels in other gateway cities in the U.S. and worldwide.

Situated on Stockton Street, just steps from Union Square, The Campton Place is an intimate European-style hotel crafted from two historic buildings that date back to 1909 and 1910. The hotel has 101 rooms, nine suites, an acclaimed restaurant, bar, fitness center and in-room spa services.

The acquisition, when completed, will not result in any job losses or large-scale personnel changes, and Taj will honor all previous bookings for hotel rooms, restaurants and banquets.

What is a CMS?

Content Management describes the process of easily creating, managing and publishing online content with neither programming nor technical skills. Easy and effective content management is achieved through the deployment of a Content Management System (CMS) that is either custom built or purchased as an off-the-shelf solution. However, without a well defined content plan, evaluating and choosing a CMS may prove disastrous.

The basic idea behind a Web Content Management System (CMS) is to separate the management of content from design. Page designs are stored in templates while the content may be stored in a database or separate files. When a user requests a web page, the parts are combined to produce a standard HTML page. The resultant web page may include content from multiple sources. For instance, a page describing a workshop might have, as a sidebar, a list of all the other workshops on this year along with the standard navigation and title bar at the top.

Components of a CMS

A CMS usually has the following components:

. Document templates
. A scripting language and/or a markup language
. Integration with a database

CMS systems offer support for programming languages like Perl, Java, and Python along with integration into a backend database. The inclusion of content is controlled by the use of special tags in pages. These tags are often unique to a CMS. There is usually support for languages such as Python, Perl, or Java for more complex operations.

Criteria behind evaluating a CMS

Simplification of:

. Site management
. Site development
. Publication information to the website?

Scalability and Flexibility

. Ability to accept documents converted to HTML
. Ease of uploading and using images in documents
. Programming and scripting languages supported
. Support for a range of databases

These requirements and others must be identified prior to evaluating any CMS. Once these are documented, specific evaluation criteria and a content management plan can be developed for evaluating different vendors and systems.
