Douglas Wallace earned a Juris Doctor degree in 1976. Doug was CEO of Wallace & deMayo, P.C. from 1976 to 1999. In 1994 he created the first nationwide legal network, using proprietary software to link specialized law firms in every state into a single network. As the CEO of both NAN and Wallace & deMayo, P.C., Doug merged both companies in 1999 with Synovus, a multi-billion, multi-financial services corporation, in a first ever merger of a major law firm with a NYSE bank, a transaction that was reported by the Wall Street Journal.

Doug retired from the practice of law in 1999 to become a consultant and to pursue his lifelong dream of writing. Doug chose to write the memoir of his early years as a way to call attention to the difficult challenges facing children born into poverty.
