In November of 2004, Ferrari began selling left-handed drive Ferrari F430s as the successor to the Ferrari 360 in Europe. American right-hand drive models were not available for sale to Americans until summer of 2005. Though it shares the same chassis as the Ferrari 260, the F430 had some major changes in addition to the "Evoluzione" tag that was attached to it.

The "Evo," as it is known in the Ferrari factory, had been redesigned for aerodynamics with a curvaceous body. It features a 4.3 liter V8 that was a large step away from other Ferrari V8's, which were descendants of the "Dino" engines of the 1950s. The F430's engine put out a total of 483 horse power at 8,500 rpm and 343 lbf torque at 5,250 rpm.

The F430 featured a limited slip differential that is computer-controlled called the E-Diff. The E-Diff can vary the distribution of torque automatically according to acceleration and steering angle. It was also the first to have manettino steering wheel-mounted control knob which allows the driver to modify certain settings of the car's ESP (Electronic Stability Control) system. These settings include transmission behavior, electronic suspension, and throttle response as well as the E-Diff.

The Ferrari F430 is the third quickest that Ferrari ever manufactured, sitting right behind the Enzo and the Ferrari 599. It has a feature called launch control which allowed it to take off from a standstill at very high RPMs safely. This resulted in a 3.5 second time of 0-60 miles an hour recorded by Car and Driver magazine. The launch control was not made available to American F430 buyers due to liability issues.

In addition to the standard F430 Ferrari also plans on re-introducing the F430 in a reduced weight version called the F430 Challenge Stradale. In addition to being 100 kilograms lighter, it will have an increase in horsepower of up to 37 horse power, bringing it to 520. Ferrari also manufactures the F430 Pista, which is the track version of the F430 that is built specifically for the Ferrari Challenge series

--

Wayne Armstrong is the owner of several car and supercar related websites.
The Tower of London may be one of the oldest edifices in the city, but it continues to pack in crowds because of the grisly history of the major historical figures that found themselves imprisoned and later killed there. The Tower of London is considered the most thoroughly haunted building in all of Britain. People have seen every manner of ghost in the Tower - headless bodies, decapitated heads, mysterious anachronistic soldiers, intense unearthly cold spots, clattering chains, and moaning matrons. The visage of the Tower, despite its current state, still gives visitors a morbid sense of discomfort and fear, as if there were a vague memory of its imprint in our collective intuition of history. The Tower of London is a fascinating place to visit, even if it does tend to lean to the grotesque side of English history.

The Tower is not merely one structure – it is actually a complex network of structures that resemble a small town within a city. The oldest is the White Tower which was begun by William the Conqueror, after which rulers added other towers, gates, and walls. Originally, the Tower was considered part of the Royal abodes, before it later became something of a prison for well-to-do captives.

The Tower is full of macabre remnants of the various famous and not-so-famous individuals who languished in its cells. Sir Walter Raleigh spent 13 years in the Bloody Tower before he was executed. You can still read the last messages scratched by terrified inmates on the walls of the Beauchamp Tower. Probably the most famous and notorious feature is a plaque located in the spot at Tower Green where many of the Tower’s Royal victims were executed – Anne Boleyn, Catherine Howard, Sir Thomas Moore, and the 4-day queen, Lady Jane Grey.

Many people also visit the Tower to take a peek at the famous Crown Jewels – definitely the most popular attraction at the site. The Crown Jewels are located in the Jewel House, where some of the globe's most precious stones are on display – in cases, set into robes, swords, scepters, and crowns. The most famous crown on earth is also on display - the Imperial State Crown which was made for Queen Victoria in 1837. The Crown is still worn today by Queen Elizabeth II when she opens Parliament. What makes the Imperial State Crown the most famous in the world? Its opulence is beyond compare – it’s studded with over 3,000 jewels, most of which are diamonds. Individual stones on it are famous on their own as well - it includes the Black Prince's Ruby, worn by Henry V at Agincourt. Another famous article is the Royal Sceptre with Cross, which features the 530-carat Star of Africa, one of the largest diamonds ever discovered.

The Tower is much more than an antique royal palace; it has also served as a fortress, a prison, an armory, a treasury, a menagerie, and briefly even as an astronomical observatory. The White Tower holds the Armouries and a ghoulish display of torture instruments and execution accoutrements that illustrate the grisly history of antiquated justice.

--
Wayne Armstrong is the owner of the City Visits network of travel related websites, of which the London Visits site is a part.
The Ferrari name has been around for years. In fact, this brand of car is much older than most people think.

The first Ferrari hit the roads more than 50 years ago in 1947. The first 125 sport was not what you see today, but for the time it was a real looker. It featured a 1.5 liter V12 engine which made this car one of the fastest in the world. In addition, like all Ferrari’s this car had a great body to go along with the speed. Without this first Ferrari hitting the road in 1947, it is safe to say that they would not be where they are today in terms of the automotive industry.

Throughout the 1950’s the Ferrari was the “it car” for people that were looking for speed. If you wanted a car that could really fly, there was no better option than a Ferrari. At this time no other competitors had stepped to the forefront, and it appeared that this trend was going to continue throughout the 60’s.

But just as Ferrari began to settle in, the United States auto makers began to churn out some cars that could compete. In the early 60’s the Shelby Cobra hit the road, and it was an immediate threat to the Ferrari name. After trying to buy Ferrari and come up unsuccessful, Ford decided to release the GT40. This was the first real competitor to the Ferrari, and ended its dominance at the 24 hours of Le Mans.

By the late 60’s and early 70’s, Porsche had also entered the scene and caught Ferrari off guard. In turn, Ferrari released the 512S in order to get back on top of the racing world. In 1970, Porsche dominated the racing world winning all but one race over Ferrari.

Throughout the 70’s Ferrari was consistently putting out good performances as Porsche pulled out of the game due to new regulations.

By 1988, the Ferrari name had become very popular and used cars were beginning to account for a lot of sales. As this happened, the value of used Ferrari’s rose all over the world, which subsequently made more people interested.

To this day, car lovers from all over salivate at the chance to drive a Ferrari. Even though most people will never get the chance, there are a select few who make their dreams come true.

For those people that cannot afford a new Ferrari, the option to buy used is always a good choice. And to take this a step further, renting one for the day can be even more cost efficient.

Overall, the Ferrari name is one that is built on speed and integrity. It has been around for many years, and it is safe to say that this is not going to change anytime in the near future.

--
http://www.ferraristi.net/ is a Ferrari fan website for Ferrari fans.
