For as many health benefits as there are for adding fiber to the diet, it is interesting to note how little fiber we actually do consume. Actually a lot of people do not think about their daily fiber intake, but this is important for many reasons that will be discussed briefly in this health article. We will also share some tips on how to add more fiber and nutrition to your daily regime.

How Much Fiber do You Need?

It is recommended that women digest 21 to 25 grams of fiber a day and that men take in 30 to 38 grams a day. It is not difficult to get this much fiber from your nutritional regime - as long as you are eating a balanced, healthy diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables offer a great deal of fiber, as well as whole grains. Tips in the end of this article will help you find food higher in fiber.

What does Fiber Do?

Fiber is different from fats, proteins and carbohydrates in that it is not digested by your body. This means that is passes through your stomach and small intestine, going directly into your colon, pretty much unchanged. It decreases your chance of constipation and other intestinal problems. Fiber helps to "keep you regular". It is important to drink plenty of water in addition to ensuring adequate fiber intake. Water helps the fiber better do its job.

What Can Fiber Do For Me?

Fiber has been shown to have several substantial health benefits. Soluble fiber can lower blood cholesterol levels. It also slows the body’s absorption of sugar. This means it can help improve the body’s blood sugar levels. Studies have also shown that a diet high in fiber may reduce a person’s risk of developing certain health conditions. It can also reduce a person’s risk of heart disease.

A high fiber diet can also help with weight loss. Foods that are high in fiber make you feel fuller and take longer to chew so your body has time to register as full. High fiber foods also tend to be lower in calories and make you feel full - and make you STAY feeling full.

What Foods are Most Fiber Rich?

Beans are, hands down, the most fiber rich. One cup of lentils packs a whopping 15.6 grams of fiber! Fruits and vegetables also offer a great deal of fiber. Pears, figs, blueberries, apples and strawberries are some of the fruit power players in the fiber game. For vegetables, look to peas, artichokes, Brussels sprouts and mustard greens. In the grains, cereals and pasta group, opt for whole-wheat spaghetti, bran flakes, oatmeal and rye bread.

Read labels and make healthy food choices, including fresh fruits and vegetables. Balance your diet by incorporating foods from each of the food groups and drinking lots of water. Adding more fiber to your daily regime may help you improve your overall long term health, maintain an ideal body weight and regulate your body's waste elimination.
-------------------

Spencer Hunt is a lifetime home gardener and has worked with hundreds of people by phone to help them improve their health through improved nutrition and adding the very best, scientifically validated supplements to their diet.
Henry David Thoreau said that the blueberries that you pick yourself taste better than the ones you buy at the market. This is very true. Growing your own fruits and vegetables, working the soil, planting the seeds and harvesting your garden, is rewarding and a great, relaxing hobby. Growing your own food ensures that you know exactly where you food comes from and what, if any, pesticides were used. Gardening is also a great way to unwind and relieve stress. It is also good exercise, digging, stooping and pulling weeds can be a pretty good workout. So, whether you are planning a full-scale vegetable garden or you want to grow a few herbs, these tips can help you get started.

The first thing to consider when planning your garden is location, location, location. Think about what you want to grow, the type of light your plants will require and the size or your garden. Herbs, tomatoes, carrots, squash and strawberries are good for smaller spaces. Climbing foods like cucumbers and beans can grow along a fence or pole so they don’t need much room. Fruit trees, on the other hand, can take up a lot of room. You may also want to consider growing herbs or smaller vegetables indoors. This would work well if you want to grow produce year round. If your plants are inside, you control the climate and can grow any vegetable or herb anytime.

When you are deciding on which vegetables you want to grow, check with USDA to find out what hardiness zone you are in and use it as a guide. Your hardiness zone will tell you which plants and vegetables do best in which areas. Most seed packages will include information on which zone is best for that particular plant. You can purchase seeds at a nursery, the garden department of a mass merchandiser store, through catalogs and even online. It is best to shop around to find the best deal and best selection.

When you get your seeds, you need to begin preparing your garden for planting. Once you stake off the area, you need to till the soil so that it will be well churned and suitable for planting. There are several tools you can use for this; a rotatiller is probably the most popular. A push rotatiller is easy to operate and inexpensive to rent. Other methods include plowing and even hand tilling for small areas.

When you begin planting, follow the directions on the seed package. Make sure that clumps of dirt are broken up and any rocks are removed. Then begin making rows with a hoe. It is on top of these rows that you will plant your seeds. Plant the seeds somewhat close together. You can always space them out more once they begin to grow. Pay attention to the depth you are placing the seeds into the ground.

Once your seeds are in the ground, the real work begins. It is vital that you water your garden regularly, but don’t over water. You should water your garden either in the early morning or in the evening, but never when the sun is high. The sun can burn a plant’s delicate leaves and watering them while the sun bears down on them will definitely cause them to burn. You can also use a sprinkler system or irrigation system.

Harvest time will depend on the type of plants in your garden. If you plan your garden well, you can have fresh produce through most of the summer and fall seasons.

Spencer Hunt has been making his own organic compost and doing home gardening since he was 3 years old. He is now a strong healthy young man who runs marathons. He still does home gardening and now supplements his food with the best organic natural supplements on the market.
Once Upon a Time . . .

Most of our food came from the earth and our diets consisted primarily of fresh fruits and vegetables. Then things began to change . . .

Some scientific studies indicate that you would need to eat almost 10 oranges in order to provide the same level of vitamin A that our grandparents got from eating just 1 orange! Fruit is not what it used to be.

In 1952 two peaches supplied the Daily Value of Vitamin A. Today, you would have to eat almost 53 Peaches to meet the Recommended Daily Value. YES, that is "Daily Value". Can you imagine eating 53 peaches every day? For one thing, you would spend the next entire day in the bathroom. Do you know of anyone who has ever tried to eat more than 50 peaches in one day??

A Peach is not a Peach

We have became a processed food nation. Our diets are based on convenience, not nutrition. It does not even matter if you are buying "organic" produce from your local health food market. Modern farming and storage techniques have reduced the nutritional value of many fruits and vegetables.

- More than 75% of Americans are not consuming the recommended 5 to 13 daily servings of fruits and vegetables.

- The medical community now recommends a multivitamin/mineral (JAMA 2002)

But when you go to the store, there are so many bottles and brands of vitamins. They all claim to be the best right? They all claim to have the complete source of vitamins and minerals for you. Some of them even say that they have 400% of your needed this and 500% of your needed that and 1200% of your needed xyz.
Creating Your Own Antioxidants

How Important Are Antioxidants?

Everyday, your body gets rid of mutated and oxidized cells, known as "free radicals". With a strong immune system, the human body can recognize and get rid of these cells. Cells can become mutated or oxidized naturally as they are replicating in the body, or from stress, smoking, age, and sun damage. UV rays from the sun are very hard on your body's cells.

Your body has developed a natural way to help rid itself of these cells through the consumption and use of natural antioxidants. The body naturally creates some antioxidants, but it relies heavily on a proper diet to get the rest of it's natural antioxidants. Spinach as well as blueberries, apples and several other plant foods are rich in antioxidants. Flaxseed contains lignans which may have antioxidant effects. Flaxseeds are said to fight cancer due to the fact that the omega-3 fatty acids found within it act as antioxidants in the body. The antioxidants in dark chocolate have shown to make a difference in cardiovascular health. Research shows that anti aging creams that do not have antioxidants do not work as effectively as those that contain it. Free radicals are the forerunners of devastating diseases like cancer, osteoporosis and heart disease: antioxidants can help get rid of these free radicals from your body. Garlic also serves as an antioxidant and some studies even indicate that it can help to protect against cancer.

Sunscreen lotion with a high sun protection factor (SPF) is important to reduce the amount of damage to your cells, thus resulting in less free radicals in your body. Colorful fruits and vegetables naturally contain antioxidants that your body craves! Many of the best tasting fruits are high in antioxidants.

What Are Natural Sources Of Antioxidants?

Many people these days take antioxidants to counter the detrimental effect of free radicals. Maybe someone suggested mangosteen juice, or maybe noni juice, goji berry juice, or xyz juice. But in fact, artichokes are among the best sources of antioxidants. Berries in general are among the foods which are the most antioxidant-dense. Caretonoid is an antioxidant that is found in carrots, apricots and all major citrus fruits including oranges. Beta-carotene is one popular natural antioxidant and is present in various natural food products. Strawberries are high in antioxidants, so you could make yourself a fruit smoothie at home and enjoy the delicious flavor along with the antioxidant benefits. The truth is, there are many common foods high in antioxidants and you should not just restrict yourself to one particular food source.

By simply eating healthy, there are many reasons why you may still need to supplement your diet with supplements.

* Most fruit and vegetables today are grown in nutrient-depleted soils
* Most fruit and vegetables today are not eaten fresh, let alone grown organically
* Most everyone does not eat enough fruits and vegetables
* Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables can result in bloating and gas

Supplements are also a great way to increase your intake of antioxidants. There are two or three major vitamin groups such as vitamin A, C and E that work in the body as antioxidants. Vitamin E and Vitamin C are very powerful natural antioxidants. Many vitamins are proven antioxidants, which means they are able to fight against free radicals in the body. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, and is also needed for the production of serotonin. Vitamin E also works synergistically with the mineral selenium that helps the body to create other antioxidants. Although both vitamin A and vitamin C are good antioxidants, it is vitamin E that is the most effective and potent of the antioxidants important for the health of your eyes. The antioxidant Coenzyme Q10 encourages cell turnover by restoring and preventing damaged skin. The effects of Aloe Vera is partially interesting because it makes vitamin E, vitamin C and other antioxidants work better.

Glyconutrients supplements are one way to help the body to naturally create its own antioxidants. Research has shown that the body can naturally synthesize antioxidants in the body and it can better do this when glyconutrient supplements are added to the diet.

--
Spencer Hunt is a glyconutrients distributor who helps people to have more energy and live a better quality of life through glyconutrition.
http://www.ifoundhealth.com.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Juice Plus Review

Juice Plus is a supplement that has been in existence since 1993. I looked into the product at one time as a possible source of nutritional benefit for my family. I was even interested in becoming an associate so that I could earn the products for free, since so many people are looking for ways to improve their nutrition just like you and I. I will not say outright that the Juice Plus is a scam. I have thoroughly looked into many business opportunities, especially health related companies, and I will say that there are many fraud companies out there. I would say that I think Juice Plus is one of the better companies out there, but let me tell you why I decided that it was not for me.

About the Company

Juice Plus is manufactured by a company called Natural Alternatives International near Santa Barbara California and distributed by National Safety Associates (NSA) in Tennessee. NSA was started in 1970 and before introducing Juice Plus, was known for other multilevel-marketed products. They are a smart company that seems to follow the business trends of the decades. Do you remember all of those water filter companies that were popular in the 1980s? Well this company sold home fire detectors when they were popular in the 70s, water filters in the early 80s, and air filters in the late 80s. They also sold educational games at one point.

While some companies in the past have made multilevel-marketing look bad, there is nothing wrong with using the method of sales distribution known as multilevel-marketing. If done right and honestly, it can benefit more people than traditional marketing, save people money and can help get a product out to many who may have never learned about the product.

So from a business standpoint, it looks like they have the right idea. They follow the trends.

The Juice Plus Products

Their main products are the Juice Plus, which are not juice really, but powder in capsules. This is better than juice because juice supplements like the popular Acai berry juice, noni juice, Mona vie juice or Mangosteen juice products will begin to oxidate as soon as you open the bottle. This liquid oxidation is harmful to the body. The Juice Plus blend include great ingredients that come from fruits and vegetables. I think that their product is a good idea.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Clinic referred to Juice Plus as a "pricey supplement" that is distributed with "exaggerated value and cost." I personally would say that I am sure that the product is most likely good for your health. But I do not think that they have enough raw fruits and vegetables in their product for the price that you pay.

Juice Plus Problems

Some problems that I saw were that first, the products were not unique, second, there was not enough research and science behind the product, third, the testimonials were lacking, fourth, the products were not manufactured to high enough standards to make me want to pay the extra money for them, and fifth, their ingredients were not all organic or all natural plant-based. For example, their Juice Plus Gummies supplement for kids, were found to have around 80% corn syrup and 10% beef gelatin, making the product virtually without nutritional benefit.

Juice Plus Research

One thing that caught my interest when first evaluating Juice Plus was that the product had been in scientific journals such as The Journal of Nutrition, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, Journal of the American College of Nutrition and Integrative Medicine.

But of all the the published peer-reviewed studies, only one was independently conducted. The others were funded and/or authored by the manufacturer, the main distributor, or by individual Juice Plus distributors. I don't know about you, but that makes me suspicious!

Juice Plus Testimonials

One serious mistake was in choosing former professional football player O.J. Simpson to be celebrity endorser of the product. Simpson was given a multi-year six-figure contract to sign on with NSA as a icon for the company. I personally like to see a company that has a product that is so good that star athletes use the supplement on their own, simply because they like the added performance gain and benefits that they get while using them.

The testimonial of O.J. Simpson was thrown even further out after he was charged with murdering his wife and her friend Ronald Goldman. In March of 1994, shortly before these murders took place, he was videotaped telling 4,000 Juice Plus distributors at a sales meeting that Juice Plus+ had cured his arthritis, enhanced his golf game, and freed him from needing to use anti-arthritic drugs. However, his defense attorneys in the criminal trial in 1995 and civil trial in 1997 (and in his 2007 book If I Did It) all suggested that Simpson was so handicapped by arthritis that he could not have committed the murders. They also went on to say that Simpson was using a variety of potent anti-inflammatory drugs, such as sulfasalazine and ibuprofen. Well, these may have been what improved his arthritis enough to allow him to have an enhanced golf game.

In conclusion, I looked into them as a health product and as a source for a second income, since they use the residual income model which I like. You should do your own research. Juice Plus was not for me. I found an alternative that I am extremely happy with.

A Wonderful Alternative Product

I found an alternative to Juice Plus that I really like. While just looking for a health product to help my family with some health challenges, I happened across a great opportunity to get paid to share a product that I really love.

Everybody wants good health and more energy. Ever heard of glyconutrients? Improve your wellbeing. And since glyconutrients are so new, and are easy for anyone to start including into their diet on a regular basis, there is a huge growing demand for glyconutrients distributors. If you would like to become a local representative for an extra flow of residual income, then come talk to me. I have been consuming glyconutrients supplements for a few years now and am extremely happy with my energy, immune system, and wonderful health.

--
Spencer Hunt is a glyconutrients consultant who recommends the glyconutrients supplements to everyone.
Exciting Salads - Tips And Ideas

Getting the right vitamin, minerals and glyconutrients can really help your health, but you also need to eat a healthy diet. Adding salads can be a fun and easy way to do this.

Salads don't have to be the boring iceberg lettuce ho hum concoction. Add a little panache, a little spice, a little flair. Be creative; don't be afraid to try different things. Add some chopped or sliced nuts! Pick up a salad book and see all the possibilities. There are numerous books out there that will tell you how to make creative salads that are filling, satisfying, fun and might even help you lose weight. You can pretty much just look through your pantry and fridge, grab whatever catches your eye and throw it all together!

Greens

Don't limit yourself to iceberg lettuce. There are so many other exciting and delicious greens out there! Baby spinach, heart of Romaine and dandelion leaves all make great greens for your salad. You can even throw several different types of greens together to make an awesome salad. Check your local farmer's market or the produce section of your local grocery store and browse the selections available.

Veggies

Vegetables are great in salads. Throw in some raw squash, zucchini, onion, garlic, bell pepper and carrots and you will have an awesome salad. You can also roast the vegetables with some seasoning and toss them in with some greens or pasta. Jicama is also a great addition to a salad. Similar to a turnip, a jicama is large, crisp and sweet. Cube it or slice it and add it to your salad for a healthy, low fat, crunchy kick!

Pasta

Pasta can turn a salad into a meal. Fettuccini, spaghetti, angel hair pasta, rotini and other pastas are all wonderful for pasta salads. The great thing about pasta salad is that it can be served hot or cold. You can toss it with some vegetables, meats, cheese and whatever else strikes your fancy. Sauté your vegetables in a little olive oil and add some basil and sea salt. Once your vegetables are tender, toss them with the pasta. The olive oil sticks to the pasta (don't rinse the pasta in cold water, warm pasta holds the oil and seasonings better) and blends all the flavors. You can also cook your pasta and roast your vegetables then mix well.

Protein

Meat is often added to salads. While bacon bits are probably the most popular, it isn't necessarily the healthiest. Try poached, chopped chicken or fish to your salads. You can also drain and rinse a can of tuna and add that to your salad with a little lemon pepper and vinegar. Shrimp and crab also pack a nice punch of protein to your salads. Ham is also good, but it can be high in sodium. Season your chicken or fish well and toss it with your greens and vegetables.

Dressings

Regular bottle dressings are OK, but there is a whole world out there of vinegars and concoctions that you can make yourself. Try drizzling a little raspberry balsamic vinegar over raw, chopped vegetables. Some apple cider vinegar, mixed with a little cold-pressed olive oil, garlic and the seasonings of your choice can make an awesome dressing. Think about the flavors that you like, the spices that you enjoy. Do you like basil? It makes a great dressing if you use some olive oil and rice wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar. For an added kick, splash in some white wine or red wine. Just play with it and see what flavors turn you on!

Eating enough greens in your diet can really boost your immune system and overall energy, as well as help you to maintain a healthy body shape.

--
Spencer Hunt is a wellness consultant from Oregon, who recommends a balanced diet, with high quality vitamins, minerals, and glyconutrients products.
Low Calorie Diet

One of the oldest tried and true methods of weight loss is a low calorie diet. A diet low in calories, when combined with a regular exercise regime, can be very effective in helping you to lose weight. There are some basic guidelines you can follow, but the most basic is to read nutrition labels on the foods that you eat. Of course, fresh fruits and vegetables have very few calories, as do chicken breasts and lean meats. If you are counting calories, you should have an idea of how many calories you want to restrict yourself to daily. For health reasons, you should not allow your daily caloric intake to drop below 1200. This can be unhealthy.

What are Calories?

Technically, a calorie is the amount of heat that is required at the pressure of one atmosphere to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius. This is equal to about 4.19 joules. To us regular folk, a calorie is a unit of energy in the foods that we eat. A burger with 500 calories offers 500 units of energy. Of course, too many calories can result in an excess and then your body stores it as fat. Additionally, low calorie foods can still be high in fat which could defeat the purpose if your goal is to lose weight. So, simply put, calories are energy.

What are Some Low Calorie Foods?

There are many low calorie foods on the market, but your best bet for the healthiest, lowest fat and lowest calorie choices are the fresh foods. Steer clear of canned and processed foods. They can contain hidden sugars and fats and can cause you to gain weight. Fresh fruits, vegetables, meats and dairy products (the "horseshoe" of the supermarket) are your best bet. Learn to read labels for other foods that you eat. You may find yourself choosing brown rice over white and whole wheat pasta over flour because of the health benefits and lower calories. A low calorie diet can be healthy and easy to follow - just keep it fresh.

How Many Calories do You Need?

Different people have different caloric requirements. There are many factors that determine this: activity level, gender and age are big ones. There is a way to determine how many calories you need. The formula is somewhat difficult but it is fairly accurate. You first need to determine your BMR, or basal metabolic rate. This is how much energy your body expends at rest. For men, add 1.0 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour. Women use .9 kcal per kilogram of body weight per hour.

Once you have determined your BMR, add 20% to 4 0% of your BMR if you are sedentary. 55% to 65% is added to your BMR for light activity, 70% to 75% is added to your BMR for moderate activity and 80% to 100% is added to your BMR for heavy activity. This figure will tell you how many calories you require per day. Multiply that figure by 7 for your weekly caloric intake requirement. From this amount you need to subtract 3,500 from your weekly caloric requirement for each pound of weight that you want to lose. (It is suggested that you lose no more than 2 pounds a week because more than that can be unhealthy and can cause you to look flabbier even if you lose the weight.) Divide this figure by 7 and that will tell you how many calories you need each day in order to lose the pounds you want to lose.

Get discount supplements as a wellness distributor
Help others feel great about their health and energy.
They are not herbs, vitamins or minerals...so what are they?

What are glyconutrients?

The Greek word "glyco" means "sugar". Most people think of cake and ice cream when they think of sugar! However, there are actually TWO kinds of sugars. Refined or "extracellular" sugars are the sugars that have been long associated with human disease. The second type of sugars are "intracellular" sugars and can be found in fruits, vegetables, and plants, providing the body with the nutrition it desperately needs. These sugars, also known as “complex carbohydrates” have been studied for years. However, only recently have we begun to understand their crucial role in cellular communication and what this means to our health.

Glyconutrients are, simply put, are the building blocks of our cellular "alphabet." These "sugars" stack on the outside of our cells much like a cellular telephone antennae (see picture below), and they facilitate communication between our cells.

In the last ten years, scientists have isolated eight of these "sugars" that are considered to be essential for proper cell-to-cell communication. The problem lies in the fact that our modern diet only provides us with two of these eight. Our diets have changed in response to the demand for quicker, cheaper food, and the other six "sugars" have essentially disappeared, rendered unavailable (in our diets) because of things like questionable farming practices, early harvesting, and environmental toxins.

So what exactly is cell-to-cell communication and why is it so important? We've all seen the cell phone commercials that started the phrase that is now the maxim of every cell-phone user -- "Can you hear me now?" Our cells suffer the same fate when faced with "poor reception." So what happens when our cells can't communicate properly? The answer is simple -- auto immune diseases or compromised immune systems.

Take this simplified illustration. Our cells roam around our bodies and "talk" to other cells they come across. So let's say that one cell says to another cell, "How are you?" The second cell might answer, "I am fine." But what if the second cell was missing just one piece of its cellular "alphabet," and instead of the word fine, used the word "fire." I am fire?!? Oh, no! The first cell has no choice but to call in the macrophage (the cellular equivalent of 911) to eliminate any possible threat to itself or to the body. The macrophage surround and destroy the innocent but poorly communicating cell that lacks the "vocabulary" to identify itself as friend, not foe. Doctors call this phenomenon by multiple names -- rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease ... just to name a few! Furthermore, when our immune systems are compromised because of poor cellular communication, we see diseases such as cancer or heart disease.

Current scientific research has demonstrated that glyconutrients can have a significant effect on health.

If these essential "sugars" are no longer found in our diets, where can we get them?

The body can use the two sugars that it does get in our diets to produce the other six. However, this is an energy-intensive process, stealing valuable resources that could be used for crucial health maintenance. Ideally, we need to supplement the remaining six sugars with natural glyconutrients.

If this technology is so great, why haven't I heard of it? Why hasn't my doctor recommended it?

I remember feeling the same way when I first heard of these supplements. The science of glyconutrition has met with resistance in portions of the medical community. But this isn't the first time that the field at large has been skeptical about a new discovery. Years ago, the medical community discredited the use of Vitamin C as a treatment for scurvy ... until its use totally eradicated the disease! This example serves as proof that even though doctors are highly educated and intelligent individuals, they are not immune to the human condition of being "misinformed." Dr. Bill McAnalley, who is credited with key discoveries in glyconutrition, states it eloquently. "One of my professors told us that half of what we would learn in medical school would be wrong--we just don't know which half." In addition, recent research reveals that the majority of the funding for medical institutions is provided by pharmaceutical companies, who have a vested interest in continuing the medical model (treating disease instead of promoting wellness and healing through nutrition). Further research indicates that 84% of physicians report that their prescribing practices are influenced by pharmaceutical reps, who are not educated in glyconutrition.

The Perfect Business
Become a wellness distributor!
The benefits of green tea have been touted by the Chinese and Asian cultures for centuries. Finally, the West is catching on and is discovering the healing properties of this simple beverage. In the past, it has been used for headaches, depression, general malaise and other disorders. The Chinese have used green tea as a medicine for at least 4,000 years.

Currently, research is being done in Asia and in the West to find evidence of the health benefits that are associated with green tea. The evidence is staggering.

The Journal of the National Cancer Institute published a study in the 1990s that showed that consuming green tea actually offered a 60% reduction to the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women.

The University of Purdue found that the growth of cancer cells is inhibited through a molecular compound found in green tea.

Studies have shown that drinking green tea lowers cholesterol and improves the "good" cholesterol (HDL).

Research has shown that drinking green tea can be helpful for people with cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, infection, cardiovascular disease, high cholesterol and impaired immune function.

Green tea has certain properties that give it its healing abilities. It is very rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly EGCG. EGCG, epigallocatechin gallate, is a very powerful antioxidant. It inhibits the growth of cancer cells and can actually kill them, yet it does not harm healthy tissue. It has also been shown as being quite effective in lowering LDL cholesterol - the "bad" cholesterol. It has also been shown to inhibit the abnormal formation of blood clots which are the leading cause of heart attack and stroke.

There are many Chinese teas, such as oolong and black teas, but they do not possess the same healing properties as green tea. While they all come from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, the difference is how they are processed. Oolong and black teas come from fermented leaves. This causes the EGCG to be converted to other compounds. These compounds are not as effective in treating disease. Green tea leaves, on the other hand, are steamed. This process prevents the EGCG from being oxidized. Thus, the green tea is richer in EGCG and is not corrupted in any way.

You may find it interesting that green tea may also aid dieters. The University of Geneva performed a study where they gave men caffeine and green tea These men burned more calories than men who had only caffeine or were given a placebo. Moreover, green tea has been shown to prevent tooth decay. Its bacteria destroying properties help prevent food poisoning as well as killing the bacteria that causes dental plaque.

At this time, the only drawback to green tea, its only negative side effect, is that it contains caffeine. This can lead to insomniaespecially if you are more sensitive to caffeine. The good news is that green tea contains less caffeine than coffee. Try to look for the decaffeinated versions of green tea if you are worried about the caffeine.

Glyconutrients supplements are another way to help your body get healthy antioxidants into the body. In fact, studies have shown that glyconutritionals help the body to create its own natural antioxidants.

--
Spencer Hunt is a wellness consultant, and glyconutrition expert, Spencer provides new and unique ways to buy glyconutrient capsules at a discount - check it out!

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Looking for that gift for that special someone?

Whether it be for an anniversary gift, birthday gift, thank you gift, Christmas gift, or any other special occasion, you can never go wrong by buying a nice Cashmere scarf, shawl, or wrap. Think about the benefits!

* They are such a unique gift idea.
* They are great to add flare to any outfit in her wardrobe!
* They don't take up near as much space as shoe collections.
* A girl can never complain that she has too many!

Why a Cashmere type? Most wool is from the small hairs on sheep, which is great for keeping you warm in any weather, but the problem is that wool itches. Who wants to use an itchy scarf or shawl? Cashmere wool is wool but it is different in that it comes from the Cashmere goat and is also known as Pashmina. Pashinas are one of the finest fleeces available. Pashminas look beautiful on any girl at any age. Since they can be dyed in different colors, they can really add color to any outfit.

The Pashmina wool comes from a special breed of goat that is found in the Himalayan Mountains. For many thousands of years, shawls have been made from this special goat's fleece. Capra hircus is the name of this special Himalayan Mountain goat, and its fleece is carefully hand-picked using a course comb. This process does not hurt the goats at all, and since it grows back each year, it is a great renewable resource.

Since Pashmina wool can't tolerate a whole lot of tension, it is usually mixed in a 50/50 blend of Pashmina and silk to give it added strength while still maintaining the smooth comfort. Some shawls use more Pashmina, ranging up to 70% or even 100% Pashmina. The higher the amount of pure Pashmina in the fabric, usually the more expensive that the item will be.

Authentic Pashmina woven shawls cost anywhere from $30 to several hundred dollars. The demand for Cashmere shawls in the past has sometimes been higher than the supply, which drove the price up for a while. This caused some unscrupulous manufacturers to start making man-made Cashmere look-alikes, or fakes. Make sure that you are buying from a reputable source. If you look around, you can sometimes find a good wholesale Pashmina dealer online.

--
There is more to learn about Pashminas, such as learning ways of wearing or tying a pashmina scarf.

Educational article written for and owned by www.PashminaInternational.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com
