If you love to watch the frolicking, flitting and whimsical nature of birds, you should know that bird watching right outside your window or in your own backyard can really be a joy. It's incredible just how many different bird species you can see. If you think there aren't many birds in your backyard, there are a few things you can try in order to attract them. With a couple of great bird houses, bird baths and different types of bird feeders, it won't be too long before you've got some special visitors out back.

You can find a number of different bird feeders out there, and a majority of them can be put into one of three different categories. There are tube feeders, hoppers, and tray feeders. Tube bird feeders are shaped like a cylinder, with a landing place at the hole where the bird feed comes out. Tube feeders are perfect for various types of seed, as long as the openings are big enough for the feed to fit through. Hopper feeders are more appealing to birds that might be wary about tube and tray feeders. Tray feeders are wonderful for birds that are smaller. If it doesn't matter to you what kind of birds are attracted to your backyard, and you'd rather enjoy and appreciate any bird that shows up, you can purchase a general seed bird food. Most bird seed can appeal to a large bird assortment, because it has got a number of seed types. If you would prefer a certain bird species to visit your backyard, then you will need to include a food or seed that's a favorite of that particular species.

If you want to add a birdhouse to your yard, birds may potentially nest in it. Not only will they frequent from time to time, but if it's comfortable and safe, they might make it the place to hatch their babies. This would truly be a thrill since you might get to sneak a look at the babies every so often, or when it is time for them to learn to fly. Not only is a birdhouse a charming backyard decoration, but it is a place the birds will love to be too. There are naturally an assortment of types and sizes of birdhouses, and what you choose will depend on your unique taste.

Bird baths are a great thing to have in your backyard if you are looking to attract more birds. Birds like splashing and wading around in the water, and as long as it's clean, that's even better. You can select from more conventional bird baths, or you might get something a little bit different, like a fountain that's solar powered. A bird bath with moving water will be attractive to wild birds that commonly wouldn't frequent an everyday fountain, like humming birds, warblers, robins and thrushes. Birds particularly like moving water, and it will attract them easily. Bird baths also look amazing as garden accessories. A lot of people love bird baths for the fact that they make birds come closer than they customarily would. This is an excellent opportunity to take some wonderful pictures, and just enjoy the birds' company.

These three things easily can help make your backyard a little bit more appealing to birds. There's some other great things you can add, like sweet-smelling flowers, and crevices and openings so the birds can hide. If they feel secure and safe in your yard, they will stay longer.
