Looking for a way add extra income for your retirement days. Make a website about your life long experiences or what you did the last 40 years or so. Were you a coach, teacher, musician, plumber, accountant or maybe just a life long hippie. Well that is what you base your website or blog on.



Why not start your very own website. It use to be you needed to be a technical geek to build a successful website.



Well those days are now gone. There are now hundreds of easy to use online website software to help you make your own website.



I started my own websites from scratch and it was a real pain in the backside. The learning curve was huge. I had to learn HTML, CSS, PHP, FTP and a few others that makes my brain cells say no more please!



You can now Add or delete pages, change navigation labels, and add links and images wherever you need them. Change the fonts, images, text, and background colors even add your own paypal account. All without having to know one single line of code.



Many baby boomers already have offline businesses. If you already have an offline business then it is time to tell the world or at least your online community what your business is all about. Don't pay some techy geek thousands of dollars to make a website do it yourself.



It's amazing how fast technology moves. 5 years ago I was struggling to make a one page website, took me forever to figure out HTML alone.

Please do NOT fall for that Get Rich Quick mentality? Contrary to what some Internet Marketing guru's say you will not get rich in 2-4 weeks or even months. Unless you already have deep pockets getting rich online will not happen over night. Not even within 6 months. The World Wide Web is already full of worthless get rich schemes and it really amazes me how many people fall for them.

However there are legitimate ways to make money online such as writing articles with your own good original content. Making a website or blog about what you know, your experiences, knowledge, your passion. This my friends is what really works. The Internet needs people with "Good Original Content".

What exactly is good original content?

Well "good original content" is exactly what those words mean. If you are starting a website or blog then you need to remember those words. Why? Because this is where the future of the Internet is going. Do NOT copy or build websites that have absolutely no value. Always write and create good content for your website visitors. Make a website about what you know, not what you don't know! It will be so much easier for you.

This is what the major Search Engines are looking for. Think about it why are you paying for that Internet Connection? Most people use it to find answers to their problems they are currently experiencing. Be it weight, looks, health, Internet, computer, social, economic, financial or how do I fix the bathroom leak problem. If you know how to cook, clean, fix, repair, teach, ride, jump, exercise, etc,... etc... then you have the knowledge to become a successful Internet Marketer. You also have the ability and expertise to write article that will help others.

I know nothing!

Everyone knows something. Even the 12 year old geek can put together a site about "How to excel in Algebra". What about the high school dropout who can install a security system in your car or grandma who has tons of experience on "how to knit a colorful blanket"...Get my point? Yes... just write it down put it on paper read it over and over then head on over to the computer and type it in your favorite word processor. That is the beginning of YOUR website or blog.

So can someone really make a living online?

Yes you can make money online. IT takes time, patience and a fierce determination to succeed. You have to read, write and take in as much positive information as you can. If you can't write take online lessons now. Just type "online writing lessons" on your favorite search engine. If you can't read then this whole article is a moot point!

2. Find your niche. What do you do for a living? What are your interests, your hobbies, your love. Do you like sports? What about working and tinkering with cars/trucks. Do you like skateboarding, gardening, are you a wizard at math, electronics, computers, etc....etc.....

3. Once you have that in mind start writing it down. Yes... take a pen and put it on paper. You will probably have tons of content for your website. This is what people want, and more importantly what "google" and the rest of the search engines are craving for.
Remember you will be able to write and post to numerous article directories with your own unique content.

4. Find a good webhosting company. Do your best to learn HTML Once you have a good working knowledge of that start with CSS, PHP, and others. The main one is HTML. Be sure have an ezine or newsletter on your website.

5. Find a good graphics program. The two best are Paint shop Pro and Adobe photoshop. PSP is alot cheaper.

6. S.E's love good simple HTML & CSS content. Once you have that start putting your adsense or affiliate links in place.

7. You have probably heard this before but I will say it again. do NOT slap on a bunch of banners, and unrelated links on your page. Stay away from link farms, black hat search optimization tricks and anyone that says "make thousands/millions in 2 months " IT WON'T HAPPEN".

8. Read everything positive! Yes read and acquire the knowledge that will help you get what you want.

9. Here are 2 words that helped me with my successful site:Persistence and Determination.

10. Visit and participate in forums, blogs and websites that have valuable information concerning your niche!
