If webmasters want to monetize their websites, the great way to do it is through Adsense. There are lots of webmasters struggling hard to earn some good money a day through their sites. But then some of the “geniuses” of them are enjoying hundreds of dollars a day from Adsense ads on their websites. What makes these webmasters different from the other kind is that they are different and they think out of the box.

The ones who have been there and done it have quite some useful tips to help those who would want to venture into this field. Some of these tips have boosted quite a lot of earnings in the past and is continuously doing so.

Here are some 5 proven ways on how best to improve your Adsense earnings.

1. Concentrating on one format of Adsense ad. The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This same format has the tendency to result in higher CTR, or the click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. They may or may not know they are clicking on your Adsense but as long as there are clicks, then it will all be for your advantage.

2. Create a custom palette for your ads. Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.

3. Remove the Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top. Do not try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between Adsense locations can make when you see your earnings.

4. Maintain links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.

5. Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the WebPages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as “adsense text”, and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites. It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every click through that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.

Tips given by those who have boosted their earnings are just guidelines they want to share with others. If they have somehow worked wonders to some, maybe it can work wonders for you too. Try them out into your ads and see the result it will bring.

If others have done it, there is nothing wrong trying it out for yourself.

--
Did you find this article useful?
Preparations before Releasing Your Product - Affiliate Marketing

It‘s no secret that there is a lot of money to be made by marketing informational products. While the products can vary in topic, many of them are devoted to the subject of making money. The market for this type of product seems insatiable, and it is not unknown for ebooks or software that are related to making money to amass six figures in sales in just the first few weeks after publication. The sales of these products are often good for a lot of people; the author makes money, and so do the affiliates who promote the product in exchange for a portion of the sales price.

Given that a tremendous amount of money can be made in a short time selling informational products via an army of affiliates, authors sometimes have a tendency to rush their product to market prematurely. While it is understandable that an author would want to get his or her product to the market as quickly as possible, it can hurt sales tremendously if everything isn‘t properly in place prior to putting the product up for sale.

Here are two examples of problems that have been seen recently as a result of incomplete preparation:

Traffic snags - The release date of an information product is generally known several weeks in advance by the affiliates that promote it. Extensive e-mail promotion by affiliates may result in thousands of people visiting the product‘s Website within the first few minutes that the product is available. It is not uncommon to discover that there is so much traffic to these Websites that customers who want to read about the product or actually buy it cannot connect. If customers cannot connect to a products sales page, then no one can buy the product and the author and affiliates won‘t make any money. Worse, potential customers who cannot connect may give up and not return to the site later. It is vitally important to have some idea of how much traffic to expect when setting up a sales page with a Web host and to make sure that you have the capability to handle the expected volume of traffic.

Insufficient documentation - A recent software product flopped tremendously on release, despite what appeared to be sufficient preparation. The Website was set up on a robust server, and a seasoned professional wrote the sales page. The sales copy was quite compelling, the affiliates set out e-mail messages to their lists touting the software‘s potential, and customers were genuinely interested in obtaining this software product upon release. Upon release, the product was a complete flop. The reason? The software came with virtually no documentation, and its user interface wasn‘t particularly intuitive. Customers who bought it couldn‘t figure out how to use it, and people started demanding refunds. Even worse - they started letting their friends know about the problems with the product, and within a week, sales of this potentially useful product had dwindled to nothing.

It is certainly important to make sure that your product is complete prior to putting it up for sale. Having the product ready isn‘t everything, though. It is equally important to make sure that everything else that is necessary to make sales is in place. Failure to make sure that everything is ready can result in an affiliate marketing catastrophe.

--
Did you find this article useful?
Google AdSense is the most widely used content-based advertising program by webmasters and web publishers to help generate extra income. Publishers register for a Google AdSense account, enable Google ads relevant to the content on their websites and make money when a visitor clicks on an ad. However, although Google AdSense is generally considered the current leader in content-based, online advertising, it's important for web publishers to realize there are many alternatives to this program, whether they are used instead of or in addition to AdSense.

Furthermore, many web publishers may find too many problems with Google AdSense. For example, they can be too picky in suddenly terminating people's accounts. When web publishers lose their Google AdSense accounts, they need to know what other options they have. In addition, Google AdSense's terms and conditions are such that some publishers are not even accepted into their program. Finally, some publishers find that Google AdSense does not provide a large enough selection of relevant ads that match their content. It is definitely worthwhile to consider alternatives to this program.

Pay-per-click advertising besides Google AdSense is one type of alternative, including such programs as Adbrite, AllFeeds, BidVertiser, Chitika, Clicksor and Yahoo Publisher Network. Adbrite, a customizable e-commerce site, is considered "The Internet's Ad Marketplace," and enables the publisher to not only control their own ad rates, but also to approve or reject every ad for their website. AllFeeds features the highest and best pay-per-click listings from thousands of advertisers, multiple display formats (text links, banners, buttons, search boxes, etc.), real-time reporting, customization and even an integration with Google AdSense. BidVertiser allows the publisher to display text ads on their site with advertisers bidding against each other, and they display the highest bidders for maximum revenue-earning potential.

Chitika, an impulse product merchandising service and comparative shopping engine, features interactive eMiniMalls. Clicksor boasts higher payouts per click along with a larger range of advertisers, supporting feeds from more than one advertising provider and the chance to earn more by either displaying relevant banners or underlining a section of clickable text on their websites. Yahoo! Publisher Network is a newer model and allows the publisher to not only display relevant ads and earn from each click, but also to integrate other features and programs of Yahoo! on their site, such as Y!Q and Add to My Yahoo! (RSS). Other pay-per-click advertising alternatives to Google AdSense growing in popularity include Affiliate Sensor, BidClix, ClixGalore, Fastclick, Kanoodle, Nixxie, Revenue Pilot, Searchfeed, TargetPoint and Vibrant Media SmartAd.

However, pay-per-click, content-based advertising programs are not the only ways for web publishers to generate online income. Affiliate marketing works great as well, using affiliate programs such as Commission Junction, Clickbank, Amazon and Linkshare. Affiliate marketing involves an affiliate promoting the services or products of a merchant on their site and is rewarded for every visitor, registrant, subscriber or customer that comes through them on a pay-per-click, pay-per-lead or pay-per-sale basis. Other alternatives to Google AdSense include networking opportunities, merchandising, RSS advertising, donations and sponsorships.

There is a plethora of alternatives to Google AdSense for publishers to choose from. A common piece of advice presented to amateur web publishers is to include more than one type of revenue-generating program on their site to unleash greater income-earning potential, for security, protection and for backup in case Google AdSense suddenly decides to close down their account.

--
Did you find this article useful?
In my previous articles I discussed things you need to consider before you begin blogging. Once you have considered these factors you should be ready to start your blog. However, there is one more critical factor - content. Where are you going to get your blog content from? What type of content are you going to provide? In this article I try to answer these questions by discussing seven sources of content for your blog.

1) SELF WRITTEN CONTENT:- When starting your blog you should definitely be consider writing your own content. Why? Because it is free and it also provides your blog with a dose of your own personality. You do not have to write every single post yourself because this can take a lot of time. However, there is no reason you cannot write an occasional article or product review for your blog.

2) EBAY LISTINGS:- Since your blog is a supplement for your eBay business it makes sense to highlight eBay listings on your blog. Do not fill it with all your eBay listings or your readers will quickly start to see your blog as one big advert. However, the occasional post about one of your eBay listings that you feel requires additional attention is fine. For example, maybe you have a new ebook out? Perhaps you have just listed an ebook in your eBay store which contains some really insightful information? Your readers are interested in ebooks too (that is why they are reading an eBay ebook blog), so they will want to read about some of your eBay ebooks. If done correctly, blogging about your eBay listings can improve the appearance of your blog and generate interest from your readers. Just make sure you do not overdo it.

3) ARTICLES FROM THE DIRECTORIES:- I have discussed in my previous articles how article directories can be a great sources of traffic. Well they can be a great source of free content too. Have a search through the article directories for articles on the topics you are looking to publish and then republish them. The only thing you have to make sure of is that you include the author's resource box so that they receive the credit for writing the article.

4) PRIVATE LABEL RIGHTS (PLR) ARTICLES:- PLR articles are sold to a limited group of customers (let's say 50). These 50 customers then have exclusive rights to use these articles for web content, email content, part of an ebook or whatever else they wish. PLR articles can be a great way to get content for your blog quickly. Although they usually cost a little money, they have an advantage over articles from the directories because of their limited distribution. Instead of publishing a directory article that has potentially been used by thousands of people, you can publish a relatively unique PLR article. Plus, you can make changes to the PLR article, giving it a unique spin for your blog.

5) OUTSOURCED ARTICLES:- If you are not happy with other people having the same PLR articles as you and you do not have the time to write your own unique articles, outsourced articles are an option. Simply, find a good writer (ask for a sample of their work before agreeing to purchase any articles) and then agree a fee per article. They will then write unique, relevant articles which you can post on your blog. The disadvantage with outsourced articles is that they will cost more than PLR articles.

6) EBOOKS:- As an eBay ebook seller you should have access to lots of ebooks with resell rights and giveaway rights. Why not give some away on your blog? Your readers will really appreciate getting free ebooks that they can then go on to resell in their eBay stores.

7) YOUTUBE VIDEOS:- Interactive websites are becoming increasingly popular and YouTube is no exception. On YouTube you can find videos on almost every topic including selling ebooks on eBay. All the videos on YouTube contain code to embed the video, so all you have to do is copy and paste this code into a blog post and voila - you have video on your blog.

I hope these seven content sources are beneficial to you and your blog. Even if your blog is not related to eBay and ebooks, you can use many of the sources quoted above. Now that you have the sources you just need to take action. Start posting today and watch your blog grow.

--
Did you find this article useful?
Online Branding With Google

If I had to pick just one, it would be substance. When I refer to style, I am limiting the definition to items such as logo, name and title, public relations, advertising. While these and more are all important factors in creating a look and feel for your online visitors, they are all clearly secondary to substance.

So what do we mean when we speak of substance? Substance, in its essence, refers to those elements that create a lasting impression, a unique and lasting “user experience.” In the real world of bricks and mortar, we can all quickly name scores of successful brands. They all have one thing in common … a distinctive and easily recognizable customer experience that is repeatable interaction after interaction, transaction after transaction.

Online successful brand names are also numerous. When you think of Google, you have an instantaneous vision of a Google search page, its familiar structure on the search page and the fast, reliable and relevant results … the most trusted source of information for most of us online. We got to know Google through this unique and outstanding customer experience. We BENEFITED … this is what substance is all about. We all got to know Google, not by the logo or the stock price, not even by it going public … only by achieving fast, reliable results that saves us a lot of time in the process. Google became a verb … we don’t search anymore … we Google!

As with Google, household names such as Ebay, Amazon, Priceline, Travelocity and Yahoo all provide that unique, satisfying and even pleasurable customer experience that keeps us going back with great loyalty. We know what to expect and we like what we expect. These names are only a portion of the first brand names that were born on the web. There will be many more in the years ahead … they will all provide a unique experience that will appeal to a large common area of interest engendering confidence, reliability, peace of mind and other clearly positive feelings.

Substance is really achieved through excellent planning and execution. Think this through … before you can plan and execute, you need to have the following key elements:

1. Commitment to your customer
2. Vision of your business and how it will benefit customers
3. PASSION

Either you have these or you don’t. ONLY with them can you generate the thoughts, the processes, the “extra miles” effort needed to truly stand out, make an impression and generate discussion amongst those in your target audience, whether it be the general public or those in a specific industry or business.

When we talk Online Branding, the first place we start is with your website. All of the elements of your website are important, even critical, when establishing an online brand. Just consider the following and this is just for starters:

1. Home Page – are first impressions important?
2. Content – is it about you or is it about the visitor? Is it engaging, interesting, well written? Is it RELEVANT? Would you come back for more? Do you provide a reason for someone to come back for more? Great content does all of these things.
3. Navigation – do the links and the paths in and around the site make sense, follow a rational pattern?
4. Do you make it easy to be contacted by email, by phone or fax?
5. Do you make customer service readily available? Do you make it obvious that you are here for “them?”
6. Is your shopping cart an easy and sensible process?
7. Do you offer assurances, guarantees and warrantees?
8. Do you offer free information in the form of newsletters, RSS feeds, blogs, etc.

All of this is all well and good … however you also need to make it easy for your site to be FOUND ON THE WEB … that means Google and the other major search engines. This means Internet Marketing including Search Engine Optimization [hot link] and Sponsored Search Advertising [hot link]. YOUR NAME DOES HAVE TO ACTUALLY APPEAR to those searching using keywords that directly relate to your business. SEO [hot link] and Sponsored or Paid Search [hot link] requires dedicated, professionals with proven track records and demonstrable results to achieve the visibility you need so that searcher can find you and gain the customer experience you have uniquely created through your website.

So online branding is clearly about execution. Style only becomes important once you have created and crafted a unique and meaningful user experience through great execution. Great execution, in my opinion, is not possible without vision, commitment and PASSION.

Still think you need style and hype before great execution? Consider the case of etoys.com and pets.com just to name two. These guys confused “brand-awareness” through traditional advertizing … do you remember the 2 million dollar 30 second super bowl ads? They blew much of their venture capital so that 100 million people will see their 30 second ad. These companies, literally hundreds of them, went the way of the Edsel and the Nehru jacket … they didn’t execute for the customer … they threw their money at the issue. Just plain doesn’t work.

As if you needed more convincing consider Amazon. We don’t call it Amazon.com anymore. Amazon has become a marketing giant. They didn’t advertise their name change, no hype, no effort to change the name. The marketplace did it for them. Amazon.com became Amazon because the marketplace has a “first name relationship” with them. This is all thanks to the vision, the commitment and the passion of Jeff Bezos and those on his team that share these common values.

So online branding is a realistic opportunity for those passionate, committed souls with a vision and a genuine understanding of what they offer their customers. With these raw elements from within, the design, implementation and the visible online presence of a website become only natural as part of the overall company strategy. Create a unique feel and experience that is shared by your visitors and you will become an online brand.

--
Did you find this article useful?
Money Saving Tips On Wedding

Each time you add a name to your invitation list, you're increasing your budget significantly. It's not just the catering costs, but also the extra centerpieces, favors, rentals, etc. Don't invite anyone you haven't talked to in five years. Don't feel obligated to let single people bring a date. Avoid feeling pressured to invite all your work colleagues. And don't let your friends bring their children. You can also decide to eliminate categories like "relatives more distant than first cousins" or "friends from volunteer work." By not inviting anyone from that group, you'll help avoid hurt feelings.

For religious weddings, consider having your wedding near a major holiday. The church will already be decorated, saving you lots of money on flowers. On other days, look for simplicity. A candlelit ceremony can be romantic, gorgeous, and inexpensive.

Unlike many types of clothing, wedding dresses don't get much wear- so they're the perfect used item of clothing! You'll also want to check out the huge selection of gowns on eBay. If you go with eBay, get yourself measured very carefully to make sure the dress fits. Even better, visit a local store and find a few dresses that look fabulous on you-- and then look for the same gowns on eBay in your correct size. Who's going to know it's used-- and who cares?

You may be dreaming of the perfect, fairytale wedding. However, if you do not have the time and money needed to create such a wedding, trying to do so will only cause financial hardship and unneeded stress. So, if you have lots of money to spare and can afford a wedding planner and all the other luxuries, then go ahead. Otherwise, you will need to keep the wedding small and simple so that you and your friends and family can take care of the various arrangements yourself. Even a simple wedding will provide you with plenty of memories to cherish for a life time.

If your wedding is at a time of year in which flowers bloom readily, consider using flowers from your garden, or from assorted friends and relatives. This could be a little risky, so you may need a Plan B, in case nature interferes with a sudden harsh hot or cold spell, or locusts attack or the dog digs up all the flowering plants etc! With a bit of research and planning (and a Plan B) you might even try planting seedlings, far enough in advances, to bloom for your wedding. These can even be used in their pots for stunning displays, and picked for bouquets. Using beautifully toned foliage for a lot of your displays, maybe with just a few accent flowers, can be magnificent. These can often easily be obtained from trees and bushes of friends and family for no cost.

Sometimes saving money can be as simple as celebrating your individuality or taking into account unique attributes of your venue. Instead of a guestbook full of names that might be meaningless in 50 years, we decided to take a group shot of our entire wedding party and guests. Seeing how everyone looked on that wonderful day is so meaningful to us -- and we saved on the cost of a guestbook, pen and other accoutrements that add to the bottom line.

--
Did you find this article useful?
If you’ve ever read an article about eBay, you will have seen the kinds of incomes people make – it isn’t unusual to hear of people making thousands of dollars per month on eBay.
Next time you’re on eBay, take a look at how many PowerSellers there are: you’ll find quite a few. Now consider that every single one of one of them must be making at least $1,000 per month, as that’s eBay’s requirement for becoming a PowerSeller. Silver PowerSellers make at least $3,000 each month, while Gold PowerSellers make more than $10,000, and the Platinum level is $25,000. The top ranking is Titanium PowerSeller, and to qualify you must make at least $150,000 in sales every month!
The fact that these people exist gives you come idea of the income possibilities here. Most of them never set out to even set up a business on eBay – they simply started selling a few things, and then kept going. There are plenty of people whose full-time job is selling things on eBay, and some of them have been doing it for years now. Can you imagine that? Once they’ve bought the stock, everything else is pretty much pure profit for these people – they don’t need to pay for any business premises, staff, or anything else. There are multi-million pound businesses making less in actual profit than eBay PowerSellers do.
Even if you don’t want to quit your job and really go for it, you can still use eBay to make a significant second income. You can pack up orders during the week and take them down to the post office for delivery each Saturday. There are few other things you could be doing with your spare time that have anywhere near that kind of earning potential.
What’s more, eBay doesn’t care who you are, where you live, or what you look like: some PowerSellers are very old, or very young. Some live out in the middle of nowhere where selling on eBay is one of the few alternatives to farming or being very poor. eBay tears down the barriers to earning that the real world constantly puts up. There’s no job interview and no commuting involved – if you can post things, you can do it.
Put it this way: if you know where to get something reasonably cheaply that you could sell, then you can sell it on eBay – and since you can always get discounts for bulk at wholesale, that’s not exactly difficult. Buy a job lot of something in-demand cheaply, sell it on eBay, and you’re making money already, with no set-up costs.
If you want to dip your toe in the water before you commit to actually buying anything, then you can just sell things that you’ve got lying around in the house. Search through that cupboard of stuff you never use, and you’ll probably find you’ve got a few hundred dollars’ worth of stuff lying around in there!
It shouldn’t too hard to increase your eBay backend sales – because the chances are you currently aren’t making any! Backend sales are sales to customers who have already bought an item, also known as ‘up-selling’. These are usually easier sales to make than normal sales: in sales-speak, your existing customers are ‘warm leads’.
It’s a technique you’ve probably noticed being used on you in shops: you buy something, and you’re offered a $5 piece of equipment to keep it clean, or make it easier to use. The usual human response is to say to you “heck, what’s another five dollars – it might be useful”. It’s just another five dollars to them, but they might have just added 20% to your profit margin.
Figure Out What Goes Together.
Out of the things you stock, which cheaper things are there those could be useful to someone who now owns one of the more expensive ones? For example, if you sell digital cameras, the backend product is digital camera memory – they never come with enough out of the box. The backend products for a printer would be ink and paper. Try to think laterally!
If you can’t think of anything, take a look around at the cheaper ‘extra’ items that your competitors offer, and see if you can find a supplier for them. There are very few product areas where this technique doesn’t apply.
Include Letters in Packages.
When you send items out in the post, include a brief sales letter with products you think might be of interest to the customer. It’s like sending out a personalised, targeted catalogue to your customers with every purchase. Again, you’ll find that a significant percentage of people won’t have bothered to look at what else you were selling, and will go back to buy a few more things.
To stop people from just putting such a letter aside and thinking they won’t do anything about it right now, you might like to include some kind of limited time offer – 10% off if you order within the next month, for example.
Email Your Customers.
Each time you sell something to a customer, you get valuable market information about them, and they get to see that they can trust you as a seller. That’s why backend sales are so powerful. Keep your customers updated in your newsletter, making sure you list any new products there that you might have in stock. The chances are that these customers will be far more eager to buy from you.
Consumable Products.
If the product that the customer bought from you to begin with is consumable (it will run out), then this is a special case. You shouldn’t try to make the backend sale straight away, but should instead wait long enough that the average customer would have just run out of the product. That’s the time to strike.

If you want to keep your buyers, then you need to provide good customer service. Our next email will show you exactly how to reduce eBay buyers’ complaints.

--
Did you find this article useful?
So you wish to monetize your website by publishing Google Adsense so that you can earn for every click. The first step in the process is getting your website approved to run these ads. Google will only allow quality site with quality content into its Adsense program.

If you have a website that has good regular updated content, lots of pages and good traffic then you probably won't have any problems getting approved. If your site is new and you have a few pages of content and not may visitors then I would suggest not trying to get a site like this approved for the program. That does not mean that Adsense isn't for you - you can still get approved.

There are two, quick, no hassle ways to get approved for the Google Adsense program. None of them require having your own website so you actually don't need your own website to get paid from Adsense.

The first way is to get yourself a free blog from blogger.com Google owns Blogger and it has a built in approval system for adsense. This means that anyone who has a blog on blogger.com, who wished to participate in the Google Adsense program is going to get approved. The first thing you need to do after you set up your account is to make a couple of posts. It is best to keep these posts within the same subject. Create good quality content that people will want to read.

When you have finished setting up your blog, you can then go into your user control panel and apply for the adsense program. This is a simple step and once you follow all the instructions, you will be approved in a matter of minutes.

Another way to get approved for Google Adsense is to set up an account with hubpages.com This is a revenue sharing site that allows you to earn adsense income from the ads that are showing on your pages. Once you've created a page or hub on hubpages.com you can then go into your affiliate settings and apply for adsense. Since Hubpages is applying for you, you will not have any problems getting approved and you will be earning money from adsense in no time.

After you get approved, you can then use your adsense id anywhere you choose, even on your own website without having to get it approved individually. Just make sure you keep withing the terms and conditions of Google Adsense. You won't want to get your Google Adsense account banned after you so easily got it, right?

--
Did you find this article useful?
They are calling him the million dollar man. Jason Calacanis recently revealed in his blog that he is on track to earn a million dollars from AdSense over the year ahead.

And if that number doesn’t wake you up and have you sitting on the edge of your seat, consider for a moment that he reached this level in less than a year. His company only started using AdSense in September 2004.

Calacanis runs Weblogs Inc., a network dedicated to creating trade weblogs across niche industries. And he’s quickly proven that AdSense is a credible advertising partner.

As their network has grown, so has their AdSense revenue. In January 2005 they earned an average of $580 per day. In March it was $737. In May it was $1,585. One day in July, just before he made the blog entry referred to above, they earned $2,335. Remember that is just for one day. If they can take that daily average to $2,740 they’ll be earning a rate of $1 million for a year. And Calacanis predicts that reaching daily earnings of $3,000 or even $5,000 is quite achievable.

That’s quite an achievement. Keep in mind that Calacanis has 103 bloggers on the payroll and nine staffers. Even so, many webmasters would give an arm or a leg to have even a third of that.

Google’s AdSense has been revolutionary. It has become firmly established as the darling of the online advertising industry. Although rumors are heard of major competitors launching a similar service, AdSense’s premier position seems secure for now.

In essence, AdSense has made it possible for almost anyone with a web site or blog to earn some revenue from advertising, without having to employ sales people or spend precious time searching for advertisers.

AdSense works like this. Webmasters sign up for an account in just a few minutes. They receive a small snippet of code to include on their web pages. Google will then automatically serve advertisements that are relevant to the content on the webmaster's pages. When someone visits the webmaster's site and clicks on one of Google's AdSense advertisements, the webmaster earns a fee. Advertisers can pay anywhere from five cents to a hundred dollars per click, and the webmaster receives a percentage of that fee.

Many webmasters are content with earning five to ten dollars from AdSense to cover the cost of web hosting. But many, unsurprising, have higher ambitions. At a popular WebmasterWorld forum, participants share tips and encouragement on reaching a goal of $300 per day from AdSense. So it is no wonder that Calacanis created quite a buzz when he made his million dollar blog entry.

Google have proven once again that they excel at designing innovative Internet services. If you are in the web industry and have not yet used AdSense, then perhaps you should try it out. Or if you are already using it, perhaps Calacanis’ impressive results will encourage you to track the performance of your AdSense units more closely, fine tune their positions and formats, and take your earnings to a new level.

--
Did you find this article useful?
