It can lead to depression, leave you with a low self-esteem, and keep you from doing things you want to do. If you currently have acne, it`s not the end of the world. You need to sit down and think what you are going to do to fight. You need to take one day at a time and not get upset when you`re not seeing the results you want right away. However, I believe that in order to turn these inches into touchdowns, many aspects are necessary in order for this to take place. This article is an in-depth guide to improving your abilities as a football player. You are going to learn how to increase your speed, acceleration, agility, balance, and the most important, strength.<br /><br />There are three ways in which to practice increasing your speed: Improving running mechanics, improving technique, and strengthening your legs. Most players don`t have great running mechanics and if they would just improve their technique, they would run alot faster. Leg strength is important because the more force applied to the ground, the faster you will run. You simply cannot reach your full speed potential by just running sprints. A number of elements must coincide with each other if you want to reach your maximum speed potential. From a scientific standpoint, speed is the by product of two elements: Stride length and stride frequency. Stride length is the distance you cover during each step of your run. Stride frequency is basically the number of steps you take per socond. By using the following training methods, you can increase your stride length and frequency; hence, increase of speed.<br /><br />*Shuttle sprints- Start in your preferred position, run 10-15 yards, run backwards to starting postion, and then repeat.<br /><br />*Pylometric circuit- Use this drill no more than once a week and not on days before the big game, since this circuit may take a couple of days to recover from.<br /><br />Speed and acceleration go hand-in-hand. To improve your acceleration, repeated sprints of more than ten seconds, performed with a standing start will be most useful. This will help the neuromuscular and metabolic qualities of the muscles involved. Another way of improving acceleration is to practice accelerating as fast as possible during practice. A slow acceleration topped with a quick burst is another good method that can be used. One of the best utilities you can train with to increase acceleration is using the PowerBlast gauntlet. Practice with this equipment and you`re well on your way to increasing your acceleration.<br /><br />Ladder drills are best performed in increasing your agility. In sports competition, the body is constantly asked to perform movements from unusual angles. The main purpose of the agility ladder program is to promote a wide range of different foot and movement patterns. These movements become second nature, and the body is able to quickly respond to the various angles required. You can improve your agility by practicing the movements in training and the agility ladder is a useful tool in a good agility program. The common ladder is roughly ten yards long with eighteen inch squares, but you can make your own ladder just using tape or even sticks. When you start the agility ladder program, introduce your body to two to four different movements. Once you get good at these movements, introduce yourself to new patterns to keep your body guessing.<br /><br />Many of today`s athletes are using balance training as a crucial part of their overall training program. Balance is needed by runners in wooded areas, soccer players need balance when taking the ball on a volley from just behind themselves, and even tennis players need balance when reaching for a drop shot. Each of these situations requires the exercise of just the right amount of flexibility at the right time. With balance training, the idea is to recreate and manipulate what you would do in a game situation. Maintaining balance means having the center of your mass within the middle of your base for support. In the past, people believed that perfect balance was best illustrated by standing on one leg and staying as still as possible for as long as possible. This method still works but there are also other methods in which are useful. Exercises such as the one-leg punch and jump steps are both perfect for improving your balance.<br /><br />Another point to remember is that maximal strength training should be a progression from general strength training with maximal loads. Heavy maximal exercise is only used for advanced strength trainees. Good abdominal and lower back strength is crucial if heavy lifting exercises are going to be used. Pylometric exercises are classified into bounding, hopping, and jumping movements. These exercises demand a high force of contraction in response to a rapid loading of lengthening the muscles. For this reason, they should be renamed rebound or reversible action exercises. The training effort increases the force production in the muscles, but the movements are performed at faster speeds than that of weight-training exercises. Rebounding exercises are more common to the sprinting and jumping reps on each leg, with at least one minute of rest between sets. Endurance should not be a factor. Running with weighted jackets and sprinting uphill are also useful exercises because it adds resistance to the sprint movement, which places greater load on the muscles.<br /><br />Football is not an easy sport by any mean, but being physically prepared of its tough demands is half of the battle. The other half is using what you know and a little of bit of luck as well. You have learned the five most important areas of physical fitness needed to be a good football player. <description><![CDATA[ Being patient when trying to achieve your goals is a quality few people possess. It doesn`t matter if you are trying to gain muscle or lose fat, you must have the ability to be patient. In today`s world, everything is moving at such a fast pace and being patient is not something a person wants to do. In the sport of bodybuilding, everything you do requires patience of some sort. You can`t become satisfied with just one day of hard work, achieving the body of your dreams takes a lifetime.<br /><br />Most bodybuilders have a strong work ethic. They train hard for years but end up quitting because they feel their bodies can`t take the stress that weight training puts one through. It`s the same with workout programs such as H.I.T. The trainee will lift with all out intensity but give up training after a few weeks because they`re not seeing the results they want. Don`t get me wrong, H.I.T. is a great workout, but not one that should be used for more than a couple of weeks.<br /><br />To much is worse than to little. Injury and overtraining are the most common problems of giving to much effort. You see it all the time, a trainee tries lifting more weight that he can handle or tries to perform dangerous exercises without the help from a spotter. You also have the ones who go on an extreme diet for months preparing for a contest. They become disappointed at their placing and vow to never step foot on a bodybuilding stage again. This all could`ve been avoided if the person was patient.<br /><br />Think of reaching your goals as if it were a marathon or an MLB pennant race. Sure you can go all out in the the beginning, but once you quit using the same intensity you will fall into a worse finish then what you would`ve if you set yourself at a pace that is manageable. You cannot develop a true bodybuilder`s physique with only a few months of training. It takes years of hard work and consistency to build a body an admirable body.<br /><br />Being patient is crucial in the sport of bodybuilding. Have you set yourself at a pace that you feel comfortable or are you spending every waking minute trying to look like Arnold? Sure, you need to have the goals you set for yourself in mind, but you also need to do other things as well. I see it all time, bodybuilders refrain from going out with friends or having a good time with the opposite sex because of the fear of not being around their food. You must have the ability to balance out your bodybuilding goals from life goals or your going to live the unwanted life bodybuilding can bring. <description><![CDATA[ Us bodybuilders live a crazy lifestyle. Some call us crazy, narcistic, and even hermits, but I call it dedication. We even do things that we don`t realize we`re doing but when someone mentions it, we get a little humor out of it. I dedicate this article to the bodybuilding.com forum members for making a thread that gave me a little extra comic relief.<br /><br />When thinking of food, we think of it in terms of functionality, practicality, and finally taste, not the other way around. We have to leave a party or social even because we have to go eat meal #7. Hell, most of us don`t even remember the fizz of soda, let alone what McDonald`s food tastes like. I`m even starting to appreciate the taste of water, no wonder my parents don`t understand why I won`t sit down and have a family dinner instead of making my own food. When looking at foods, we look at the protein content before anything else. We even know the difference between oatmeal, rolled oats, and steel oats.<br /><br />Your family is at the gym and you know everyone by name. When you hear the word cutting, you think of cardio, not scissors. Do we miss a workout? Yeah right! We`ll skip that important business meeting or hot date so that we can go and train legs. Then there are the guys at the gym who train biceps and chest everyday and then you about kill them after they tell you that creatine is a sterioid. We don`t workout with friends because chances are good that we trained that muscle group the day before. Whenever we see two parallel tables, we start doing dips, just for the fun of it. Pain is our best friend, every morning we wake up hoping to be sore and if not, then we know that we need to train that muscle group harder next week.<br /><br />In school, people give us strange looks because we get up three different times to take a leak. Sorry Mr. Biology Teacher, I`ve learned more about the human body from lifting than anything you`ve ever taught me. We have a whole cabinet or shelf just to hold our supplements because we take more pills than our grandma who has arthritis and high blood pressure. Our pecks are bigger than most of the freshman girls` and when we travel, we have to buy two plane tickets just to be able to fit into the seats.<br /><br />This article may sound funny to some of you but it is what us bodybuilders face on a daily basis. Bodybuilding is a rough lifestyle and is not something everyone can do. My fellow bodybuilders understand where I`m speaking from. We are a breed apart from the rest of the bunch and live in our own little sub-culture where the outsiders can`t hurt us. <description><![CDATA[ Most of you know of how to get proper nutrition throughout the day but what do you eat before bed? Common sense suggests that a balance of complex carbs and protein is adequate at this time but I am going to tell you more than that. I am going to tell you precisely what you should be eating and what macronutrients they should be coming from.<br /><br />The meal you eat before bed is just as important as any of the other meals you consume. Opinions vary from eating anywhere from two hours to fifteen minutes before you go to bed, but what you decide will depend on personal preference. It is also very important that you don`t undereat at this time because doing so will cause you to wake up in the middle of the night feeling hungry, while unconsciencely eating things that you shouldn`t be.<br /><br />Okay, well I know why the last meal of the day is important, but what should I eat at this last meal? You want to consume slow digesting foods such as fibrous carbs, casein protein, and even healthy fats. Cottage Cheese, natural peanut butter, and any type of vegetable is also perfect at this time. You can even consume complex carbs, just be careful not to eat to much of them.<br /><br />Of course, you should avoid fattening and sugary foods, if you`re a bodybuilder you shouldn`t be eating these foods anyways. You also need to avoid caffeinated foods and beverage since caffeine keeps you from getting a good night`s rest. There have been no scientfic studies showing that eating before bed will cause weight gain, but be smart and don`t over do it.<br /><br />The hardest part is keeping your food intake low at night. It gets boring late at night and sometimes you feel that eating is the only thing to do. Don`t! Keep yourself occupied and make sure you are in control of what is going on. Read a book , hop on the forums, there are endless options, just don`t eat things you shouldn`t be. <description><![CDATA[ Some of us bodybuilders come from backgrounds where money doesn`t allow us to accomplish our fitness goals as fast as we`d like. Without money you can`t afford good gym equipment, the right foods, and even supplements. When you`re living in poverty you have to do everything possible to accomplish your goals without worrying about your financial problems.<br /><br /> I came from a family where our income was always good. During my late teen years my parents ran into some medical problems and our family income wasn`t very good. I had severe depression at the time and couldn`t maintain a solid job. I felt that the world was coming down on me and that I wouldn`t be able to accomplish anything in this sport. I could only train with bodyweight exercises and two 20 pound dumbells. The only healthy food I had access to were peas, oats, eggs, and orange juice for post workout. I didn`t have much but I had due with what I had.<br /><br />You have to have a little bit of money to accomplish anything in bodybuilding. When your almost living in poverty it will become much easier once you learn to accept it and do your best to overcome your financial problems. You can start by writing down ways to bring in an income no matter what type of education or background you`ve came from. You need to set small obtainable goals just like you would in bodybuilding. The more time you spend looking for money, the less time you have to worry about your body. The key word here is balance. You need to develop ways to find a balance between wealth and health.<br /><br />When I first started bodybuilding I was overweight and had no self-esteem to even get up and find a job. My confidence levels sky rocketed once I started seeing results and it also gave me the mindset that anything is possible. Your financial status will vary depending on how big your goals are. If your goal is to become the next Olympia you won`t be able to afford much but if you just bodybuilding to be healthy, then you can become successful in almost anything you do just using the methods you`ve used to accomplish great results with your body.<br /><br />Wealth and health go together but at the same time they are the exact opposite. Goals, family commitments, social support, are all different factors when it comes to dealing with how much you can spend on bodybuilding. You almost have to spend a little bit of money on making yourself better but the investment is worth it. <description><![CDATA[ Very few people possess the knowledge needed to successfully gain muscle or lose fat. A person may know how to lose weight but most of you don`t know how to keep all of your hard earned muscle in the process. On the flip side, you may know how to gain muscle, but you need to learn how to gain this muscle without the fear of fat gain. I am going to discuss the basics of bulking and cutting and hopefully give you the knowledge needed to complete your next bulking or cutting diet.<br /><br /> Bulking is simply eating more calories than what you are used to eating, but it`s not as simple as it seems. Your calories need to be from healthy bodybuilding foods and not from junk foods like pizza, chips, and cookies. The other hard part of bulking is determining your BMR or basal metabolic Rate.(Your BMR is basically the number of calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day.) To start, you should eat 500 calories over maintanance everyday. If you your gaining to much fat after a week reduce that number to 300. If you seem to not be getting any bigger then you should increase that number to 700 calories.<br /><br />While cutting, your prime concern should be keeping muscle loss to a minimum. That is why you don`t want to crash diet and try losing weight to fast or you`re most likely going to lose most of your hard earned muscle. To start, you should lower your calories from your BMR to roughly 300 fewer calories a day. You can change that number according to the results but 300 is a good number to start out at. You can either eat less food or do more cardiovascular exercise to burn these calories. How you do it will depend on the individual.<br /><br />Some bodybuilders like to bulk up to the size of elephants before they decide that they`ve gained to much fat, and then they go on a cutting diet. Others seem to always be sporting a low bodyfat percentage year round and slowly gain muscle as time goes on. Again, how you go about it will depend on personal preferance. I always try to stay relatively lean even during the offseason because I cannot stand the thought of gaining fat.<br /><br />So can I gain muscle while losing bodyfat as well? Some bodybuilders genetics allow for this while most of us sit in aww wondering how they did it. The use of steroids allow for fat loss and muscle gain at the same time but should only be used by experienced trainee`s who know how to properly bulk and cut without the use of them. You need to decide what you want to do with your body right now. Do you carry around to much fat, are you to skinny, to small in the upper body? All of these factors determine what you decide to do with yourself. You are the only one responsible for the results you recieve. <description><![CDATA[ Most of us have the problem of choosing what type of equipment to use in the gym, while others ponder ways to even be able to train in the first place. Even if you don`t have access to a gym, there are plenty of alternatives that can help you get a great body without spending a fortune on gym fees. If you`re a teen whose parents won`t buy you a gym membership, someone who doesn`t feel like driving a long distance to be able to train, or even a person who feels more comfortable training at home, then this article is for you.<br /><br />Bodybuilding is the process of maximizing muscle hypertrophy through the combination of weight training, sufficient caloric intake, and rest. Someone who engages in this activity is referred to as a bodybuilder. As a sport, called competitive bodybuilding, bodybuilders display their physiques to a panel of judges, who assign points based on their aesthetic appearance. The muscles are revealed through a combination of fat loss, oils, and tanning (or tanning lotions) which combined with lighting make the definition of the muscle group more distinct.<br /> Now you`ve decided you want to train at home but there is only one problem. You don`t have any equipment that you can use to pump out exercises with. Now is when you need to get creative and think of something you	 can use as an alternative to dumbbells. Milk jugs, laundry detergent, gym bags, paint cans, and books can all become useful if needed. There are also many different bodyweight exercises you can perform if you enjoy training that way. Switch things up, create a good split just like your would if you had good equipment, and most importantly, have fun doing it!<br /><br />Bodybuilders love their cardio but it can become very difficult when mother nature decides to have a bad day. Most cardio machines are also very expensive so not all of us have the ability to just hop on a treadmill on days like this. Look for a jump rope or anything that can be used as one. Do jumping jacks, burpies, or walk around inside. You could even do some household chores like vacuuming the floor or anything that makes you get up and move. If you want to do cardio bad enough, you will find a way to do it no matter what.<br /><br />When doing cardio I always need to do some sort of weight lifting or bodyweight exercises to get an adequate supply of testosterone in my body. That is why I created my own style of training that is very different from all of the other ways I`ve read about. When jogging around in my basement or doing jumping jack, I`ll stop every five minutes and do an exercise I have listed down on what I want to accomplish for the day. I`ll then continue my jog and repeat this cycle until the 45 minutes are up. I then stretch, have my post workout meal and call it quits for the day.<br /><br />Not having any equipment or access to a gym can give you a good excuse not to start exercising or even quit working out altogether. I hope this article will help people realize that you can obtain a decent body without having to deal with the financial drain that comes with using good equipment. Something is better than nothing. If you`ve never exercised in your life and you do five push ups today.
