The psychology of learning is perhaps one of the most heated topics in modern psychology, and there are many conflicting theories and points of view in this arena. The largest area of disagreement is the infant phase, which runs from childbirth to when the child first begins to speak. During all phases of the child’s life, play and learning are of paramount importance.

During the first educational phase described my most theorists of the psychology of learning (0-2 years) children learn by imitating other people (especially the mother), testing out their environment, ritualizing play and eventually simple make-believe. In the psychology of learning, each of these comes at various stages, and all must be learnt in order for a child to be able to interact with their environment productively.

The next phase described by the psychology of learning is the toddler and early childhood phases (2-5 years) in which the primary means of learning is through the use of symbols. It is in this phase that a child begins to learn the arbitrary connections between word-sounds, pictures and concepts.

Since these connections cannot be learnt through trial and error, it is important that the child have as much support as possible during this period.

The psychology of learning and the philosophy of language both place enormous importance on this part of a child’s development. Another important discovery in the psychology of learning is that children in this phase use ‘compensatory play’, which is the first evidence of children trying to come to terms with their emotions.

According the psychology of learning, children transfer their emotions or an event that happened onto another object. For example, a child that has recently been scolded might be seen scolding her doll as a way of understanding how the scolding made her feel. When the child reaches ‘childhood’ status (7 years and up) their learning capacity is greatly increased.

The psychology of learning dictates that children should be given as much structure during this period as possible, to teach the child how to interact socially. Games like hide-and-seek and board games are heavily endorsed by those who practice psychology of learning. Institutionalized games, and organized sports play an important role in this stage of a child’s development.

Studies in the psychology of learning show that children at this age who participate in sports are more likely to have better grades and more energy, and are more likely to get along well with their classmates and friends.

Jane Reynolds is an authority educator in the areas of Education. She is also a mother and a writer who wrote few learning games articles for children.
Is it possible to suspect possible lymes disease in its early stage?

You can suspect lymes disease (LD), if an oval or round extending, red rash develops in a few days of weeks after a tick infected with lymes disease bites you. Moreover, subsequent to the occurrence of rash, you can notice a flu-like sickness.

On my personal LD disease recuperating period, I found that for several patients cardiac, cognitive, and neurologic, complications predominate over lymes disease. While lymes disease and deer ticks have a well known relationship, other potential vectors may also carry the spirochete that causes the lymes disease.

Clinical Approach to Suspect Lymes Disease:

The primary stage of lymes disease starts as a skin wound at the tick bite site. After few days or weeks, the spirochete transmits hematogenously to nerves, heart, muscles, skin, and joints rooting early disseminated lymes disease infection.

I personally suspected my lymes disease condition with these two stages, as both these stages combine frequently and have a link with constitutional symptoms such as weakness, depression, and fever. Further, after months, I suffered from severe joint inflammation and pains, with my test report showing gradual development of neurologic symptoms, known as stage 3 of lymes disease.

Several patients flaunt a rash in the summer and spring months. So, my prime question was when should one exactly suspect Lymes disease?

Here, I realized certain crucial aspects of the erythema migrans rash, which has an onset period of 3-30 days after the tick bite, and tick diminishes when the rash develops. My research would be beneficial for those patients, who have an instant skin reaction to any insect bite, who usually confuse these rashes with erythema migrans.

Patients flaunting painful, inflamed, or swiftly expanding lesion is unlikely to have erythema migrans, because an erythema migrans rash is usually painless. In some patients, multiple annular skin lesions occur within days to weeks of the primary rash, indicating disseminated lymes disease infection.

Hence, while suspecting Lymes disease, you need to understand that erythema migrans hides in favorite tick hiding sites, such as groin, axilla, behind the knees, and belt line.

I found that many patients are clueless from an area, where Lyme disease is endemic presenting themselves with fever and flu like sickness in the months of summer. You can suspect lymes disease quite easily here, as neck stiffness, irresistible weakness, and headache are certain common symptoms of early lymes disease.

Similar is the case with musculoskeletal symptoms, as many patients complaint of fleeting migratory joint, tendon, excluding arthritis. Patients with such symptoms have to thoroughly search for any erythema migrans hidden in their body, to suspect possible lymes disease in its early stage.

One tick bite has changed my life. However, my illness has taught me that we need to be always careful in life. Hence, my motive is to make people alert of the different signs and risks associated with Lymes Disease.

Visit us on http://the-lyme-disease-symptoms.com. I will give clear information about the causes and risks of this disease.

My struggle against gestational diabetes started with pregnancy. I started to control my blood sugar level and maintained a planned diet and exercise to help combat gestational diabetes. I always consumed right amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fats. I always had the same amount of carbohydrates at the same time of the day.

This keeps the blood sugar level within the normal range that is necessary in gestational diabetes. One serving of carbohydrate food contains about 12 grams of carbohydrate that is necessary to cure gestational diabetes. Vegetables contain only 5grams of carbohydrates per serving.

I heard that some people with gestational diabetes could control their blood sugar level with diet alone. So, I preferred smaller meals rather than the big three meals for the day, to cure gestational diabetes. I avoided sugar beverages and sugar-laden foods like honey, jams, and jellies. They aggravate symptoms of gestational diabetes.

Pregnancy is the best time to gauge on food that one craves the most. High fiber foods control weight and help in regular bowel movements. Fresh fruits, beans and cereals are such types of foods. I had them when I was hungry between the meals.

Gestational Diabetes Diet Plan:

This menu helped me to fight against gestational diabetes:

1.	½ plate non-starchy vegetables (salad, broccoli).

2.	¼ plate protein (meat, fish).

3.	¼ plate grains (rice, pasta, bread).

4.	8 oz of milk.

5.	A fruit

"	Breakfast: Add one egg on a muffin with melted cheese, light juice with light yogurt.

"	Lunch: A sandwich with meat, cheese with two pieces of bread, many fruits and vegetables (carrots, apples)

"	Dinner: One cup of pasta or a small potato, one protein (chicken, salad and many vegetables

"	Dessert: Ice-cream serving is about 1 serving of carbohydrate

"	Snacks: Mixed nuts, fruits, cheese

Even after such meticulous planning to cure gestational diabetes, the doctor one day came up to me and said that I need to begin taking insulin, to help the body against gestational diabetes. I thought that I had failed somehow against gestational diabetes. However, the doctor assured me that diet and exercise work great, but sometimes it may not be enough to cure gestational diabetes.

I always had a daily chart that kept tracks of the number of calories eaten at the time of gestational diabetes. Most pregnant women need to take in about 300 calories a day to gain enough weight. This is important for the overall health of a woman with gestational diabetes.

I would like to share with you my personal story of how I managed and recovered from diabetes gestational.

Remembering my efforts of trying to understand and get as many details as possible to find an answer for my doubts directed me into writing and sharing all I know about diabetes gestational in my site: http://the-diabetes-gestational.com

On http://the-diabetes-gestational.com you'll get clear easy to read information about the causes and risks of Diabetes Gestational.

Hi, my name is Jane.

I would like to share with you my personal story of how I managed and recovered from diabetes gestational.

Remembering my efforts of trying to understand and get as many details as possible to find an answer for my doubts directed me into writing and sharing all I know about diabetes gestational.

Three years ago, during my pregnancy, I came to know that I had diabetes gestational. However, there are few subtle symptoms, which I did not particularly notice that help to diagnose diabetes gestational in its early stage.

My husband and I were newly married, and we never had any history of major medical problems before marriage. The first sign of diabetes gestational was that I started to feel thirsty a lot. With the thought that it is good to drink a lot of water, I used to drink more glasses of water. Even after consuming plenty, I still felt thirsty.

Later, I begin to feel hungry as well and that started to happen frequently. I ate a lot. I even started feeling tired very soon after doing very little work. Simple household work, made me feel dizzy. I felt very weak, as if I am going to fall down at any moment while walking.

I assumed that there was some problem. Nevertheless, during pregnancy you do tend to get some physiological changes in your body, so I did not pay much attention.

Further, the effect of diabetes gestational became more severe. I started getting high sugar levels after seven weeks of my pregnancy. During the ninth week, I checked my blood sugar levels regularly. I came to know that I consistently had a high blood sugar level, after which I immediately consulted my doctor.

I was shocked when I got the information from my doctor that I have diabetes gestational. I was very much worried for my unborn baby. The doctor advised me to take insulin injections. I had no option but to start getting more insulin in my body to prevent my baby from the diabetes gestational infection.

Many people are afraid of insulin injections, as they are injected in stomach. Initially, it is scaring, but it is not that painful as people mainly think. My health care provider started special classes on diabetes gestational to make me understand the risks and effective ways to treat the condition without any major problems.

I was happy, when I got all the information about diabetes gestational. I felt motivated. I came to know, as how diabetes gestational functions in most women. That gave me strength. Further, I thoroughly checked my blood sugar levels four times a day. Even, I had to take insulin in my stomach twice a day.

Finally, I had my baby delivered. I was afraid that as a result of diabetes gestational my baby might suffer. However, I delivered a healthy normal boy with no problems. Gradually, with proper treatment for my diabetes gestational, my blood sugar levels came to normal after 3 months of pregnancy, and now I am planning to have a second child.

--

Hi, my name is Jane.

I was pregnant with my first child. I was going through the entire test procedures that the doctor had advised for the well-being of my baby. One of these was to check my blood glucose level to find out, whether I have diabetes gestational. Depending on the risks involved, the health care team carries out various tests for diagnosis of diabetes gestational:

Random blood glucose test: It is also known as a fasting blood glucose test. Before this test, the doctor asked me to fast for at least eight hours, as the doctor can check the blood glucose at any time of the day in that duration. It is the preliminary test to find, if I had diabetes gestational. However, for confirmation of diabetes gestational, the doctor asked me to undergo other tests.

Screening a glucose challenge test: The medical staff asked me to drink a sugary beverage. I did not want to have soft drinks. They gave me a juice to drink. There is always sugar present in juice. The results came out to be more than normal. Hence, the doctor asked me to undergo further tests to confirm diabetes gestational.

Oral glucose test: I had to fast for at least eight hours before the test. They checked my blood sugar level for evidence of diabetes gestational and asked to drink a sugary beverage again. They then checked my blood sugar level three times, per hour. The levels were more abnormal in two of the three during the test. Hence, I was diagnosed with diabetes gestational.

Other Diabetes Gestational Tests:

The doctor prescribed a complete different diet plan and exercise schedule to check out for diabetes gestational. The health team also taught me some other tests, which all you women can carry out on your own to check for diabetes gestational. Firstly, one of them was to test for KEE-tones in the blood or morning urine.

High levels of ketones mark that the body is using fats instead of using food for supply of energy. The other test was to use the blood glucose meter to check for diabetes gestational. Prick the finger to obtain a drop of blood. I had to find my glucose level for treatment of diabetes gestational various times a day:

In the morning

2 hours after the breakfast

2 hours after the lunch

2 hours after dinner

In the morning, the blood glucose level is expected to be around 95 to help cure diabetes gestational. To treat diabetes gestational the glucose level need not exceed above 140 after one hour of the meal and not more than 120 after two hours of meal.

Diabetes gestational diet recipes diabetes gestational diet recipes diabetes gestational diet recipes diabetes gestational diet recipes

--

Hi, my name is Jane.
How to Choose a Child Learning Toy

It always happens: just when you think your child has found a child learning toy that she really enjoys, she seems to grow bored of it suddenly and toss it aside. A lot of parents might think that this is because the child is spoiled or that the novelty of the child learning toy has worn off, but this is not usually the case.

Novelty might have something to do with it, but the common underlying reason for a child losing interest in a child learning toy is that they have learnt everything that the toy has to teach them. You will need to find a new source of stimulation, but don't throw that old toy out yet. If it taught a concept or a skill, that can be revisited later and reinforced, but only after a little while.

When you go to the toy store to look for a new child learning toy, your first instinct is to go with one that will likely keep your child occupied for some time. While this should be a concern, your primary one should be choosing a child learning toy that teaches a skill or a concept that is new to your child. This should be in key with your child's development (so don't buy math games for a four year old, hoping to give your child a 'head start')

The toys you buy your child will need to be constantly updated to ensure that they are learning and developing at the proper rate.

--

Jane Reynolds is an authority educator in the areas of Education.
How Can The Pediatrician Tell If My Child Has Lymes Disease?

After I suffered from lymes Disease, I became conscious about the health of my family members as well. It is quite easy to educate grown up people about the symptoms and consequences of lymes disease. However, how can you avoid children from playing in parks, grounds or playing with pets? Moreover, young children are more prone to lymes disease.

For that purpose, I took all preventive measures to ensure the safety of my children. I have already explained about preventive measures under the topic, lymes disease prevention. After visiting a tick area,I have always examined the children skin and hair. I always Check our dog carefully as it might be a source of entry for ticks into the house. If you are a Deer hunter, you need to spend extra time checking their gear before bringing it into your car and home.

Fortunately and touchwood, my children did not acquire the disease which created havoc in my life.

If you doubt of your child being suffering from lymes disease, look out for those immediate symptoms. If your child shows symptoms such as red rashes, flu, joint pain, lack of concentration and tenderness in muscles, then rush your child to a good pediatrician.

Sometimes rashes never appear on child's body, but he/she may suffer from persistent flu or joint pain. In that case, parents get confused and worried. They think how the pediatrician can tell if a child has lymes disease or not.

See, many a times, pediatrician do confirm the presence of lymes disease in children by simply verifying the rashes. However, they still carry out blood tests and confirm the disease.

Likewise, if your child shows all or few lymes disease symptoms, then take your child to a doctor. A doctor will conduct these tests on your child, to determine their physical ability. It is because, when a person suffers from lymes disease their ability to execute different physical tasks reduces considerably.

Treatment:

Doctors may ask you few questions pertaining to your family history. Your doctor will order blood tests to look for antibodies to the causative bacteria, but such antibodies take time to develop, so they may not appear in the early stages of the illness. Therefore, the diagnosis is usually based on a careful history and examination of the child, the child's symptoms and the activity of ticks in your area.

Many times, rashes appear on body and vanish after few hours or days. If you find a tick on child's body, you need to get rid of it. This is especially for people, who reside in lymes disease prevalent areas.

Doctors then prescribe few antibiotics and medicines to child. Antibiotics prevent the further spread of infection. Pediatricians prescribe antibiotics such as Amoxicillin, Ceftin or Doxycycline. The period of dose varies from one week to two weeks. Many symptoms fade away after treatment. Thus, proper dose of medicines ensure effective and speedy recovery from lymes disease.

I know what lymes disease can do to a person. Hence, if you think your child has lymes disease symptoms, consult a pediatrician sooner.

--

My name is Michael Green.

I was in shock to read about the symptoms of this disease! I knew for many years strange phenomenon and various pains without any reasonable answer. I was desperate. Nobody had an answer for me. Read more and note the symptoms and treatment. Check http://the-lyme-disease-symptoms.com and you will be able to help yourself and others.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Lymes Disease and Pets

My research on lymes disease helped me found that this illness is not just limited to humans, and can equally harm pets. Several veterinarians and pet owners report lymes disease in cats, dogs, goats, cattle, sheep, and horses. Hence, it becomes vital for pets to avoid tick bites and receive punctual treatment for their lymes disease condition.

Lymes disease is capable to affect individual pets differently. Certain pets flaunt no symptoms, while several others produce fever, painful joints, vomiting, tiredness, and loss of appetite. The spirochete may harm nervous system, heart, eyes, and kidneys of pets, if their lymes disease is not treated.

Cats:

Cats are likely to show walking difficulties, loss of appetite, eye damage, unusual breathing, and fever. Several cats infected with lymes disease also flaunt visible symptoms.

Dogs:

Dogs diagnosed with lymes disease may be lethargic, can have fever ranging between 103°F - 105°F, along with poor appetite. They may also experience lameness while shifting from one place to another. Heart disorders, kidney failure, aggression, and confusion are other pets' lymes disease symptoms.

From my personal experience, I can say that dogs are infectious to lymes bacterium, but they do not flaunt visible lymes disease symptoms. They exhibit the same expression for the disease as of humans.

Preventive Measures:

In consideration with my personal experience and research, below mentioned are certain preventive measures that you can rely upon to help your pets stay free from lymes disease infection:

"	Apply tick terminating chemicals on pet's exterior, to shield it from lymes disease spreading infectious ticks. You can use dips and sprays containing pyrethrins and permethrins to kill ticks on horses, cats, and dogs. Conduct the application quite carefully, as several pets are allergic or sensitive to these sprays and chemicals.

"	You can use a rubber gloves during the application process. Tick collars will also aid to deject ticks from attacking your pets. Ensure that, you never apply multiple repellents on your pet, because a blend of various chemicals could make your pet very sick.

"	Ensure to safeguard your pets against ticks, when admitting in a tick habitat such as beach grass, wooded, shrubby, or grassy areas. Trim grassy areas frequently to minimize tick habitation, which is the root cause of lymes disease.

"	Take care of the habitat with insecticides intended specifically for ticks. One crucial thing that, I would like to add is to avoid contaminating the water, as experts have suggested to spray insecticides at least 75 feet away form a well or any drinking water body.

"	Make regular tick checks and examine your pets closely to spot any embedded ticks, which can seriously tamper your pets with severe Lymes disease.

Finally, my prime tip for you is to consult your veterinarian, to obtain an appropriate treatment for your pet's lymes disease.

--

My name is Michael Green.

I was in shock to read about the symptoms of this disease! I knew for many years strange phenomenon and various pains without any reasonable answer. I was desperate. Nobody had an answer for me. Read more and note the symptoms and treatment. However, most of these parents underestimate how much money children plow into internet websites, simply by virtue of browsing and clicking. With this in mind, you should be aware that many websites simply put any old game up in order to get people to click their ads.

However, there are many sites out there where you can find educational games online that are both good for your children, and do not lead them on to dangerous or pornographic websites. I advice you to use parental control software program. It gives you the ability to hold children accountable, and provide security measure to protect them. Young children are impressionable and by being able to see their activities online with PC Tattletale, it helps to know where to aim the conversations and activities.

Educational games online are generally limited by the fact that they must be web-browser based. This is not a problem for math games, word games, or basic activities, but if you want to get a fully-interactive and comprehensive educational game for your computer, you will probably have to walk into a software store. However, educational games online can be an excellent, cheap way of teaching your children important concepts and skills.

At Kidsgames.Org website you can find over 900 educational games online that are all good for developing various skills used in school. These educational games online are suitable for children up to age ten. If your child is over that age, try looking at Nobelprize.ORG website where you can find a few educational games online that are based around the work of this year's Nobel Prize laureates.

As an elementary school teacher, and a member of the "old school", I was a little skeptical when children started to play educational games online. Since then though I have realized that as long as the children are guided and watched over properly they can easily find educational games online all by themselves, or with a little nudging. Once you find a good selection of games it is easy to encourage the children to play these games and learn the skills they have to teach. Often these are math or language skills, but there are also social values and ethics embedded into educational games online as well.

Microsoft is on the verge of unleashing a new technology that will allow multiple children to play educational games online at the same time. By using multiple mouses which control multiple pointers, children will be able to work together in groups of up to five - all playing the same educational games online. This will allow greater classroom cooperation

--

Jane Reynolds is an authority educator in the areas of Education.
The internet is entirely unmoderated, and there are many dangers for the child, even if your goals are home learning.
Child safe websites are easily available, but the number of websites that are not safe for your children is far greater. Apart from pornography and other internet hazards, a lot of the material on the internet is not always beneficial for home learning.

Child friendly websites do not always have good info on them! For general school research projects, www.wikipedia.org is a great place for home learning. Child friendly, informative and rich in content, Wikipedia has loads of information on just about anything.
But beware - Wikipedia is peer-moderated and so not all of the information on it is guaranteed to be accurate. If you want to use the internet to facilitate home learning, child safe websites don't get much better than this. The number one rule on the internet is that if you want good, informative content, you have to pay for it. A lot of sites simply put up content for the sake of having content.
This content is not always informative or accurate, and may not be your best bet for home learning. Child educational games can also be found online, and most of these you do not have to pay for. These games typically teach about concepts in literature, science, mathematics and economics at a basic level. One such site where there are excellent games is the Nobel Prize home page, www.nobelprize.org. This is an excellent place to start home learning.
Child games in various fields are available, and there is loads of information on all of the recent developments in science, technology, economics and literature that is presented in a way that is easy for your child to learn and comprehend. If you're using the internet for home learning, child friendly websites are essential.
Always check out what websites your children are browsing, because often they will not be able to tell if the information is of a high quality.
You can usually trust university online encyclopedias, but beware of any site that has more ads than content, as these sites are simply out to make money without giving you anything beneficial to aid with home learning.
Child friendly websites might have a lot of information, but it is up to you to decide whether or not this information is good for your children.

--

Jane Reynolds is an authority educator in the areas of Education.
