Time Magazine hailed social media is the one thing that most influenced the news and our lives in 2006 and it continues to be a major influence as we hit the halfway mark in 2007.

One trend making the cut n 2007 is the adoption of RSS in the enterprise. RSS is poised to become the focal point that employees turn to for information, eclipsing individual aggregators and systems such as portals, intranets, and enterprise applications, says CRM Daily.
A recent Pew Internet Foundation survey found nearly one in three individuals consumes RSS feeds. So much for the idea that RSS is still in its infancy. And for enterprises, the most telling response was that 63 percent of these RSS users subscribe to work-related feeds. Understanding Blogs, Wikis, Really Simple Syndication (RSS), Virtual Worlds and other social media environments has become an essential element in today’s rapidly evolving business landscape.

So why are some businesses still loathe to use RSS on their content? According to Robin Good of MasterNewMedia, RSS feeds are far from popular with publishers intent on boosting page view statistics as they fear leakage through content that’s delivered to users who will never come in to their sites.
Yet all trends and predictions for 2007 indicate that there will be a seismic shift to mobile consumption of information. People with PDA's, cell phones and RSS readers don't surf the web anymore - they don't have to. The content comes to them, when and where they want it.
Publishers will have to make this move too. They need to accept that an important portion of their revenues will rely on understanding how to make money from content delivered to their audience’s personal devices, says Good.

Indeed. Content syndication is one of the best parts of Web 2.0. Feeds facilitate the sharing of content and make it so much easier to consume the data. Perhaps we’ll see the RSS icon on the cover of Time at the end of this year.

--
Sally Falkow is the co-developer of PRESSfeed, a social media and content syndication tool that improves search visibility.
In an interview about the future of search and outdated SEO methods, Matt Cutts of Google said it is useless doing traditional SEO on a site unless you also have enough good content and the reputation in your field to be a challenger.

Building a reputation by third party endorsement is one of the most basic PR strategies and now it has to be done online. How can this be achieved? Provide content that will encourage relevant and authoritative websites to link to you.

One of the tools that helps a business build content and establish a reputation is Really Simple Syndication (RSS). Adding RSS feeds to your web content gives you the opportunity to distribute your news across the Internet, where it can be seen by new audiences and related websites.

Adoption of RSS as a preferred method of receiving content is growing by leaps and bounds and since the personalized pages of sites such as MyYahoo, My MSN, Google and Earthlink have incorporated RSS readers into the page, use of RSS has shot up.

Most PR and marketing people are not technically trained – they are not web designers or programmers. But the Web 2.0 tools now available can overcome this hurdle. 50 million Americans go online to get their news, says the Pew Internet and American Life Project.
"Distributing your news content on the Internet offers new marketing and PR opportunities," says Sally Falkow, President of PRESSfeed, a content syndication and RSS feed service created specifically for marketing and PR purposes. “There are many untapped opportunities in online news distribution and it's vital for PR, marketing and SEO professionals to be able to RSS enable their news content.”

A year ago Forrester Research urged companies to RSS enable their press releases. A recent survey from Jupiter Research shows that 30 percent of the companies implementing RSS are doing so because of customer demand. Making your content available in an RSS feed is no longer something you should be thinking about – it’s something your customers want. It will raise your online visibility, build your reputation and increase your search rankings.

--
Sally Falkow is the co-developer of PRESSfeed, a social media and content syndication tool that improves search visibility.
A new drug rehabilitation program that uses long-term nutritional and sauna-based detoxification – with no alternative drugs – is achieving high success statistics in a prison setting. Run by Rick Pendery, the national executive director of the Second Chance Centers, and Joy Westrum, the president of the Second Chance Program, the program has been running for several months in a secure setting in Albuquerque, NM.

Westrum explains that the purpose of the program is to “provide secure, long-term rehabilitation for substance abusers in the criminal justice system, and then to transition them back into society so they can lead a stable life free of crime and drugs. The program includes the administration of vitamins and mineral supplements twice a day, drills designed to extrovert the inmate’s attention, and physical techniques designed to decrease the physical trauma of withdrawal that are administered by other inmates. The entire process is supervised by a staff member trained in the process.”

This long-term detoxification process has been used throughout the world, not only to assist people in getting off drugs, but also to remove chemicals and other toxins from the system. For example, it was used by the New York Fire Department and others who worked at Ground Zero after the disaster of 9/11.

“When the person has completed the long-term detox, the metabolic residuals from years of substance abuse are eliminated from the body. We have found that the detox measurably decreases the craving to take more drugs,” Pendery explains. “The also appear more healthy, as witnessed by physical indicators, such as improved skin tone and clear eyes, as well as social indicators like higher activity levels, better communication skills, and so forth.”

Those on the program also engage in what are called Therapeutic Training Routines, which are known to increase the inmate’s attention and awareness of his present environment, raise his ability to comfortably confront others and examine his own life, and raise his ability to give and receive communication. In the process, the inmate’s level of responsibility, ability to gain control over his emotions, ability to control others, and willingness to be controlled also increase.

“These routines consist of actual communication drills that were developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of a newly recognized religion called Scientology,” explains Pendery. “Second Chance is a secular program that uses protocol-based research from Mr. Hubbard, but Second Chance is non-religious by nature and is not part of the Church of Scientology. Developing better communication skills, eliminating toxins stored in the body, and learning tools that more effectively help someone learn and apply what they learn are examples of some of these protocols. Our center provides Sunday Catholic and Protestant services, and practices an official policy of respecting the religious beliefs of others. The inmates here are encouraged to pray, read the Bible, meditate, or take part in any religious activity.”

Concludes Pendery, “The results of this part of our program really pull the individual out of his ‘drug life.’ The remaining steps help stabilize him so he can successful reintegrate into society.”

Kent McGregor, previously the Director of Substance Abuse for New Mexico and later a Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities Certifier, has acted as a consultant for the Second Chance Program. He outlined how the various parts of the Second Chance Program fall within what is considered to be the best practice in substance abuse treatment, saying, “The Second Chance program uses a holistic approach of exercise combined with the use of nutrients to replace metabolic deficiencies. They use a sauna/nutritional detoxification therapy that reduces the burden of toxic body metabolites. They additionally use motivational interviews, contingency management, community reinforcement therapy all combined into a successful matrix model in a social detox therapeutic community environment.

--
For more information go to: Second Chance Program

or

Rick Pendery.

Article Published by Jayden Adams Studio98

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Rick Pendery - Second Chance Program Raising Self-Respect in New Mexico Inmates

A unique social rehabilitation model is now in place in the criminal justice system of New Mexico. The program not only offers drug rehabilitation, but also engenders self-respect in the incarcerated as a way to help reduce criminal tendencies. The program is overseen by Rick Pendery, the national executive director of the Second Chance Centers, and Joy Westrum, the president of the Second Chance Program.

“The idea here is to shift the inmate’s moral code from one based on criminality to one that is socially desirable,” Pendery explains. “It’s a common sense approach based on self-survival and survival for others. If it doesn’t make sense to him, he won’t follow it.”

Pendery continues, “Using ‘The Way to Happiness’ booklet by L. Ron Hubbard, which is a non-religious moral code, these guys are changing their viewpoints about right and wrong and are coming out with a different basis for decisions in their life. That is one of the reasons we get such a low recidivism rate.”

Independent university studies show that, in earlier pilot programs, over a five-year period criminal recidivism dropped to less than ten percent for those who participated in at least one third of the Second Chance program prior to release.

Westrum has seen this program delivered to thousands of inmates. “’The Way to Happiness’ can help an individual see how moral conduct can improve his survival. When that happens, you have a good chance that he will change his own behavior by his own free will. This is such an effective way to create permanent personality changes.”

When in the Second Chance Program, the inmates are called students. According to Pendery, “The booklet we use has 21 precepts or moral truths that are taught to the student in a classroom under close supervision, using various study tools learned in a previous course to ensure full comprehension of each moral concept. The student actually practices applying each precept in his daily life, until he really incorporates that precept into his life. We have observed improvement with inmates in interpersonal relations, improved responsibility in life, blaming others less, and so forth.”

In touring the program for evaluation, Dr. Alfonso Paredes, M.D. and Professor Emeritus of the University of California, Los Angeles School of Behavioral Science stated, “It was particularly important to me to have interacted personally with the inmates, shaking hands, talking with them, and asking many questions. I observed first hand the rehabilitative process and the responses of hard-core drug abusers and law offenders to the program. I have had the opportunity to do many visits to substance abuse rehabilitative programs throughout the U.S. for the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. I have had administrative responsibilities for statewide substance abuse rehabilitative systems, as well as for programs in major academic institutions in the U.S. I have never been as deeply impressed as I was during my visit to the Second Chance Program.”

When asked how this program is related to Scientology, Westrum says, “Scientology is a world recognized religion. Its founder, L. Ron Hubbard, researched many areas of life, in addition to the work he did with Scientology. Second Chance uses manuals that are based upon research Mr. Hubbard did in the field of drug abuse and criminal behavior. It is secular and non-religious. Second Chance Program, Inc. uses these manuals through a licensing agreement with the secular organization, Criminon International. The manuals have been evaluated by the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C., which determined that they compare favorably to best practice in the criminal justice field.”

She continues, “Anyone, of any religion, can use the research findings of L. Ron Hubbard without being part of the church or the religion.”

Westrum concludes, “From what I have observed the benefits that these students gain from using our program are applicable to their lives long after they have left the correctional institution. By the time they have finished these courses they have usually found new self-respect, which gives them a whole new outlook on life.”

--
For more information go to: Second Chance Program

or

Rick Pendery.

Article Published by Jayden Adams Studio98

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Rafferty Pendery - Exploring Business Success

I recently interviewed Rafferty Pendery as part of a series of articles I'm doing on young entrepreneurs.

Mr. Pendery is the CEO and founder of two successful, fast growing companies. In 2006 he started 98th Street Clothing Company and in 2007 he started Studio98, a web design and development company. In previous articles, I've explored his two very successful businesses. In this article I want to find out how Mr. Pendery spends his time when he's not wearing his CEO hat.

Q: "Mr. Pendery when you're able to get away from the office for a while, what do you like to do to relax and unwind?"

A: "I actually have many other interests besides my business ventures. I play the drums, fly small aircraft, crew for hot air balloons, go skydiving and recently I've been doing a lot of scuba diving. I'm also actively working on projects for my application to the Explorer's Club."

Q: "I've heard of the Explorer's Club. It's a very prestigious organization. Tell me more about this organization.

A: "I've wanted to be a member of the Explorer's Club since I was a little kid. A lot of the heroes I had growing up were members of this organization. The Explorer's Club is a professional society dedicated to the advancement of field research, scientific exploration and the ideal that it is vital to preserve the instinct to explore. The mission of the club is to encourage scientific exploration of land, sea, air, and space. To qualify for membership you must carry out or assist in field science expeditions to study unknown or little known destinations or phenomena in order to gain knowledge for humankind. You have to get out there and actually get your hands dirty working in one or more documented scientific expeditions."

Q: "Why aren't you satisfied to just be a tourist and take the cruises and guided tours?"

A: "Being a tourist has never appealed to me. I'm not the kind of guy who likes to stand on the sidelines and watch. I prefer to actively participate in whatever activity I'm pursuing. I guess that's why I could never be satisfied working for someone else. I like to create my own game and be an active participant in that game."

Q: "What kind of field research have you done so far?"

A: "Recently I was part of an official NASA exploration. I was the crew chief for a hot air balloon team. My team's mission was to test the feasibility of doing thermo graphic imaging from a lighter than air craft. We spent long hours crisscrossing the Mojave Desert in Southern California. The data we collected in this mission will be used by NASA for further research on finding life on Mars if it does exist. Besides leading the air balloon team, I was asked to design the commemorative patch that will be given to all the people who participated in this mission. It was extremely gratifying to participate in this country's efforts to secure a foothold on other planets for the benefit of all mankind."

This desire to create their own game and roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty making their dreams come true is a trait I found in many of the young entrepreneurs I've interviewed for this series.

In my next interview with Mr. Pendery I'm going to delve deeper into his unique business model that he has used to great success in both his businesses.

--
For more information on this article, go to:

Rafferty Pendery

or

Rafferty Pendery’s Blog

Or

Rafferty Pendery – CEO Studio98

Article written by Dianne Cook

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Front Sight Firearm Training Facility, located near Las Vegas, Nevada, has – for years – been the name on the lips of everyone in the firearm industry. In a remarkably short amount of time, Front Sight has become the finest firearm training institute in America, training more students per year than all other firearm schools in America combined. The founder and director, Dr. Ignatius Piazza, leads with a strong example, and a noble cause: to educate, train and empower citizens to be more capable, and more able on the subject of firearms.

Front Sight is an opportunity that must be experienced to be believed or understood. The fun, excitement and superior training behind the “Front Sight Experience” is unrivaled anywhere on this planet, and should be enjoyed by everyone who thinks they know something about firearms, or wants to. The testimonials given by Front Sight’s students illustrate just what kind of a ship Front Sight runs.

“Front Sight gives you all the tools to own and use a handgun or any other gun. It makes you a proud, safe, and more knowledgeable gun owner. I learned more in 4 days here than I've learned during my military service.”
-Shannon "ty" Minniefield, U.S. Army

“Front Sight has the best and most knowledgeable instructors in the firearm industry. The focus of Front Sight and its instructors is that they care and want people who own guns to know how to use them safely and effectively. They genuinely care.”
-Shannon Estep, US Infantry

“This is the best training I've ever witnessed. It was an intensive, rapidly paced, sometimes heart-pounding experience. Don't miss it.”
-Ron Phoebus, Pilot/USN (Ret)

“After 26 years of military service, this course has tremendously improved my tactical marksmanship skills. My worst performance now is dramatically better than my best performance before the course.”
-Robert G., US Army

That’s right: military personnel raving about Front Sight! The training these men and women received at Front Sight surpassed the training they received in their Basic and Boot Training (without drill instructors or boot camp-style instruction!), and has made them more able, responsible firearm users – a must in the armed forces!

Where did Front Sight come from? Front Sight is the brainchild of Dr. Ignatius Piazza, former chiropractor, and now a world-class, Four Weapons Combat Master. Dr. Ignatius Piazza is the founder and director of the internationally acclaimed Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, and there’s not a better man for the job.

Four Weapons Combat Master is a title achieved by very few. Its quiet publication in 1981 left most who knew of it stunned. In fact, by August 1993, only one person on the planet had ever secured such a certificate. It was in 1993 that Dr. Ignatius Piazza became the second man to ever achieve this venerable degree. Several months and hundreds of hours of work went into his training, and through this experience, Dr. Piazza realized his need to deliver the information he had come to learn in a straightforward, non-abrasive manner – thus, Front Sight.

Front Sight’s goal is to train every American in the basic essentials for life, limb and property protection. The Second Amendment of our Constitution clearly expects Americans to not only own and operate firearms, but also to use them effectively and responsibly. Front Sight is keeping with the Founding Fathers’ intention for America and Dr. Piazza is keeping the very spirit of America alive.

--
For more information, about Front Sight Firearms Training Institute and it’s founder Ignatius Piazza go to either <a href="http://www.frontsight.com" title="Front Sight Firearms Training Institute”>Front Sight or Front Sight Article.

Article by Jayden Adams, Editor-in-Chief International Newswire.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Front Sight is operated without any sort of Boot Camp mentality, and the instructors are nothing like the Drill Sergeants one may come to expect. Hands down, Front Sight is the finest firearm training institute in the nation.

Dr. Piazza’s mission to train and educate America on the safe, effective, responsible use of firearms came about in 1988. His life and home were threatened by a drive-by shooting, and in this moment he realized that although he had spent several years firing guns and being an all-around gun enthusiast, he had no actual training on how to use a firearm to protect his life, or the lives of his loved ones.

This started Dr. Piazza on a mission to train himself fully on how to become a master of the use of firearms. Through his training regimen, he came across a nigh-unheard of classification: Four Weapons Combat Master. Published in 1981, it is a test which before 1993 only one man had ever successfully passed. Dr. Piazza worked for months, getting training from men who were, at the time, the world’s experts on firearm use.

Dr. Piazza, despite being a certified expert in Special Pistol, Shotgun, Carbine and Rifle courses, needed to put in hundreds of additional hours to achieve the skill needed to pass the Four Weapons Combat Master test. Even then, he failed the test several times, but finally in August of 1993, became the second man in the world to secure the certificate.

Dr. Piazza’s extensive training, spanning over several years and several thousand hours of tutelage, granted him the understanding of what an ideal training routine would be. Thus, he formed Front Sight, pouring all of his knowledge, understanding and trainability into its format and course layout.

The end product of Front Sight is not necessarily someone who can pass the Four Weapons Combat Master test, though one could train that far if they so desired. The intent of Front Sight and Dr. Piazza is to train Americans in what truly is an art form: firearms. Front Sight and Dr. Piazza are trying to honor what the Founding Fathers clearly intended for America: a responsible, capable, trained militia as laid out in the Second Amendment. The right to bear arms and train in their responsible, effective use is clearly protected in America, and Dr. Piazza desires that for all Americans.

Dr. Piazza, as an accredited doctor of chiropractic, and a Four Weapons Combat Master, is no stranger to education. Much of his life has been devoted to education or training of some kind, so he is an excellent source of what is ideal and needed in a course of education. The training received at Front Sight is remarkable, truly a cut above all others.

Dr. Piazza’s intent is not to rub his skill in anyone’s face, it is to spread his knowledge to as many others as is possible. Therefore, his training is simple, his methods are straightforward, and Front Sight is the headquarters for the finest gun education in the world.

--
For more information, about Front Sight Firearms Training Institute and it’s founder Ignatius Piazza go to either Front Sight <a href="http://www.frontsight.com" title="Firearms Training”>Firearms Training or Front Sight Article.

Article by Jayden Adams, Editor-in-Chief International Newswire.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Asked to support and assist these legislators, Rick Pendery brings his 30 years of expertise to the group, aiding with programs and activities that make a difference in legislation.

As a leader and executive in the field of substance abuse for over three decades, Rick Pendery was asked by the National Foundation of Women Legislators (NFWL) to co-chair the NFWL's Crime, Justice, Terrorism, & Substance Abuse Policy Committee. This faction of the group assists with that specific part of the NFWL’s undertaking, which is to provide strategic resources to women leaders for leadership development and effective governance through conferences, effective seminars, issue education materials, professional and personal relationships, and networking at both the state and federal levels.

The National Foundation of Women Legislators (originally called National Order of Women Legislators) was founded in 1938 and is a non-partisan organization whose membership is made up of women serving as current state legislators and former state legislators. Today, there are over 1600 women state legislators nationwide.

Needing assistance from professionals outside the political world, Pendery has been a co-chair of one of the most vital committees in the foundation since 2001. The Policy Committee on Crime, Justice, Terrorism, and Substance Abuse has been looking at a variety of substance abuse issues, including youth demand reduction programs, prison rehabilitation programs and medical treatments for abusers. The committee also works on human trafficking, child abuse, homeland security and other pressing issues. The Legislative Chair, Representative Phyllis Katsakiores of New Hampshire works closely with Pendery.

NFWL is based on the concept that the greatest rising force in American politics is not a political party, a lobbying community or an ethnic group. They feel it is women. Thirty years ago, women held a mere four percent of all state legislative seats in the country: Today they hold twenty-two percent—1652 seats! They also hold three Governorships, 19 Lt. Governorships and 65 seats in the US Congress, including nine Senators and 56 Representatives. Women chair numerous committees, influence policy, pass legislation and determine the outcome of elections.

The Foundation intellectually equips sitting women legislators to mold public opinion and for the legislative debates in their respective state houses, senates and assemblies. As a non-profit 501c3, the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) does not take ideological positions on any current issue, but rather exists to assist women leaders in the process of legislative debate, networking, re-elections, public opinion molding and leadership.

NFWL's Crime, Justice, Terrorism, & Substance Abuse Policy Committee has recently partnered with the U.S. Department of Justice on the Project Safe Childhood initiative where NFWL's Shoulder to Shoulder Team Leaders will work with the U.S. Attorneys in every state to create and implement plans to apprehend predators who target children. This Committee will also spend the year building on NFWL's Call to ACTION (Assign, Communicate, Train, Initiate, Oversee, Network) which was introduced last March and addresses the homeland security concerns facing the United States, including raising awareness about the importance of establishing a "culture of preparedness."

--
For more information on this article, go to:

Rick Pendery

or

Rick Pendery Blog

Article written by Jean Ritter Dale

Published by Jayden Adams - Studio98

Source: http://www.articletrader.com
