A really good question that gets asked almost daily. There’s only fifty thousand volts that run through the probes of a Taser, but there are stun guns that have voltage that go all the way up to one million. Well for starters let’s get something straight here. A lot of people think that tasers and stun guns are one in the same and they are not. A Taser shoots probes and a stun gun does not. Now there is a couple out there that does a dual defense that shoots probes and can be used at close range after the probes have been shot, but the dual defense is becoming obsolete quickly and I wish they wouldn’t.

Now back to the original question, what makes a Taser better than a stun gun? For starters it’s obvious because the advance tasers shoot two probes up to fifteen feet at a speed of a hundred and thirty five feet per second. But yet it only puts out fifty thousand volts between the two probes and a small fry stun gun can put out a million volts. The advanced Taser shuts down the neuromuscular control which interrupts any orders from the brain. The advanced Taser m-18 has almost a 100% effectiveness rating.

Its technology brings far less injury to the assailant like the traditional stun gun but adds the new EMD (Electro-Muscular Disruption) technology. Without this technology the traditional stun gun shuts down the signals from the brain to the muscles. But with the new feature added in the tasers (EMD) it shuts down not only the signal the brain sends it shuts down the central nervous system and bringing great take down power. Some would say that it has greater take down power than a 9mm hand gun.

There are two categories of energy producing non lethal weapons. You have the stun non lethal weapon and the EMD non lethal weapon. The stun non lethal weapon which is your traditional stun gun that operate in a 7-14 watt range and disrupts the signals the nervous system that travels to the muscles. And some people have a high tolerance for electricity which for smaller volts of stun guns has very little effect. Which brings to getting higher voltages stun guns preferably over 500,000 volts is recommended.

Then you have the EMD non lethal weapons that use 18 to 26 watts making the 50,000 volts transferring through the two probes a lot more affective. It has the same effect as the stun gun but with the more wattage makes it for the assailant that has higher tolerance for electricity much harder to uphold. With the advanced feature of the EMD shutting down the nervous system on top of the disruption from the brain to the muscle makes its stopping power amazing.

The stun gun is a huge defense but not worth taking a chance with lower voltage stun guns. Make sure you have no less than a 500,000 volt stun gun if you choose to carry one. It increases your chance of taking the assailant down and always have a second defense ready if not a third when protecting yourself or another. I’m talking like pepper spray and personal alarms. You never know when one might fail for you, its only technology and technology fails all the time.

Being in a situation not knowing if your going to die or not is not a good time to have it fail so always have a backup for protection. Pepper spray can keep you out of harms way and unlike the taser that shoots probes up to feet feet the stun gun has to be used at close range and should be a second defense to pepper spray or a taser.

--
Diamond Grade Security is the only self defense source you need for stun guns, pepper spray, surveillance cameras, child safety, personal and home security alarms, voice changers and recorders, child protection and safety lights, diversion safes, hand held metal and bug detectors, Tasers, instructional self defense videos and much much more. http://www.business-home-protection.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Pepper spray is a non-lethal self defense product, made to defend you from potentially harmful criminals. All pepper spray is made differently, size, forms, potency and strengths. A one second burst to the face will cause temporary blindness, choking, coughing, and nausea-bringing the attacker to his knees.

Most people think pepper spray and mace are different, which they are not. Mace is a name brand and the only difference is mace brand is mostly made without the key ingredient these days; Oleoresin Capsicum (O.C.). Why is O.C. so important? Without Oleoresin Capsicum the effects of pepper spray can be overcome by drug users and people that have been trained in chemical warfare.

When considering which pepper spray is most effective, one must consider the percentage of pepper being used and the heat rating of that pepper (measured in Scoville Heat Units or S.H.U.). Most pepper spray has two million Scoville or higher, which is great. What’s not great is the percentage of pepper.

Police strength is 15 to 17 percent pepper at two million Scoville, now there is a pepper spray out that rates at 5.3 million Scoville but the percentage of pepper is very low like 2 percent which makes it no better than 17% at 2 million Scoville.

What are three common questions that get asked quite often? The first one is how far will pepper spray shoot. Well that varies on what you buy. Size and ounces are a big factor in the range of your pepper spray. Any where from five to fifteen feet. Testing your spray for distance in a safe place is highly required.

Second question is how many bursts of spray do I get out of my pepper spray. That too varies on size of ounces to the distance of your spray. Average 8-12 burst to a can is a good recommendation. Also a good recommendation is to carry a backup. As to any technology, no one person can tell you the life of something and being prepared is the best measure.

Third often asked question is, how long is the shelf life of pepper spray? As to technology no one person can totally predict that. For what little a can cost I always suggest replacing every year like the battery in your smoke detector. Some say shelf life is 2-3 years and some say 4-5 years. I say better safe than sorry and replace every year or at least have a fresh backup handy.

Now I mentioned earlier about backup, I have taught thousands of people to double protect themselves if not more. What I mean about that is, as I have mentioned no one can predict technology. If you only are carrying pepper spray and it fails to produce the defense you need by not coming out. You’re in a world of trouble in many ways.

Whether it is having another can of spray in your other hand, stun gun, a knife or some other choice of self defense. I commend it to the highest extremes, even having three or four on you at all times. The situation might not call for one defense but another. The wind might be against your favor to use.

I prefer pepper spray over all though if it’s in your favor because you can keep your distance and never have to go hand in hand combat. But the surprise to him of you having a 900,000volt stun gun isn’t a bad choice for up close encounters. Stun guns use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does not rely on pain for results.

The energy stored in the gun is dumped into the attacker’s muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker’s blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly.

The stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker’s neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body!

What is the best recommendation to safeguarding your life? I suggest you arm yourself with a 130 decibel alarm, a can of pepper spray and a stun gun. The alarm is ear piercing and draws attention to the attacker and you. Basically it’s your summons for help. The pepper spray in on e hand to help keep your distance and the stun gun ready in the other for just in case measures.

All for under a hundred dollars. With an average of 65,000 crime victims a day!

Can you put a price on your life? Becoming a victim of crime can be so brutal and may even lead to your murder. Safeguarding your life and evening the odds or bring them to your favor no matter your size or sexuality maybe the decision of life or death.

--
Diamond Grade Security is the only self defense source you need for stun guns, pepper spray, surveillance cameras, child safety, personal and home security alarms, voice changers and recorders, child protection and safety lights, diversion safes, hand held metal and bug detectors, Tasers, instructional self defense videos and much much more. http://www.business-home-protection.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Pepper Spray: When buying pepper spray the things that need to be looked at are the scoville heat units, percentage of pepper and oleoresin from capsicum plants. Remember mace is a name brand not a pepper spray. The product is as equal as any other name brand other than the components in it. Really not a good choice to buy for the reason 99% of mace brand pepper spray does not have oleoresin capsicum which is the leading ingredient that needs to be looked for when buying pepper spray.

Pepper spray is a non-lethal chemical agent which is used in riot control, crowd control and personal self-defense, including defense against dogs. The active ingredient in pepper spray is capsaicin, which is a chemical derived from the fruit of plants in the Capsicum genus, including chilies. Pepper spray is also known as OC spray (from "Oleoresin Capsicum") or OC gas. When considering which pepper spray is most effective, one must consider the percentage of pepper being used and the heat rating of that pepper (measured in Scoville Heat Units or S.H.U.).

Now most people hear all the time police strength from many different vendors when shopping around and notice from site to site that that there many different name brands along with different scoville heat units and percentages of pepper. The highest out there in scoville heat units is 5 million but only has 2% pepper in it. That is what most law enforcement use and is also considerably higher in price because most shoppers think they have the best since law enforcement use it. Not true at all.

What you will see here is two different name brands of pepper spray. Streetwise and Wildfire that are the markets leading pepper spray. We have other brands like mace brand but mace does not compete with these two which is why we do not offer them anymore. Mace brand is mostly 10% pepper without O.C. in them and the retail prices are way to much for something less along with most does not know the heat units in them. If your asking what’s so important about the oleoresin capsicum.

If you take someone who is wigged out on drugs or very intoxicated and/or has been through some type of chemical warfare in the military the pepper sprays with out O.C. might have very little affect if any at all on them. The reason the oleoresin from the capsicum plant has been added was to over come any and all attackers to help assure your defense be greater. The leading seller is the streetwise by far and has been for quite sometime now. It has all the ingredients and equals the pepper spray law enforcement use.

It has the oleoresin capsicum and 2 million scoville heat units along with 17% pepper. I understand the police strength has 5 million scoville units but also only has 2% pepper in it. That’s what makes it equal in the streetwise pepper spray is the 17% pepper. Now the wildfire has 3 million scoville units and has 18% pepper which makes this the leading brand amongst all pepper spray but the prices are quite a bit higher. If your wanting the markets best it is the wildfire if your willing to pay the price for it.

I find the prices are not worth it considering the streetwise are definitely strong enough to take down the biggest man. I know personally how strong the streetwise is and for the price compared to the wildfire is definitely the better buy. My thoughts on why they would make it hotter is to be better than the leading market for sales. Either choice you make between the two are great choices and you won’t be making a wrong one.

--
Diamond Grade Security is the only self defense source you need for stun guns, pepper spray, surveillance cameras, child safety, personal and home security alarms, voice changers and recorders, child protection and safety lights, diversion safes, hand held metal and bug detectors, Tasers, instructional self defense videos and much much more. http://www.business-home-protection.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Lately there have been a lot more crimes pertaining to bank robberies. The robbers just walk into the bank with little or no disguise and no metal detector or security guards and hands the teller a note demanding money. They are placing the note on the counter with both hands. The notes state that they have gun and they demand money. Since both hands on the counter, no weapons will be shown. These robbers are edgy and jumpy and possibly agitated during the robbery.

You don't know what is going to set them off to pull out the gun and start shooting. The robbers may shoot a bank teller or other employee or maybe even a bank customer. It would deter bank robber if they knew that bank tellers are armed and will fight back when being robbed. Bank tellers have vulnerable jobs, not knowing who is going to come in and demand money and just start a shooting. Banks need more security.

The surveillance cameras aren't deterring the robber. Every bank teller should have pepper spray or a taser stun gun on their side. With having the pepper spray, the tellers would be able to spray the robber. The pepper spray shoots up to 15 feet. The robber would be temporarily incapacitated and authorities would be on site before the effects wore off. Most pepper spray have UV dye in them so even if the robber did get away they would have dye marking their face.

This marking dye takes at least 3 days to wear off. You can not just wash the dye of with soap and water. The dye would help identify the robber if needing to ask for the help of the public to find him. The marking dye will also be on the robbers hands and clothing. By rubbing the pepper spray in it only worsens the effects of the pepper and the dye. Pepper spray is an oil and is not water soluble. Depending on the capsaicin content and scoville heat units the pepper spray effects could last anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes.

Not only having the tellers armed with pepper spray but with taser stun gun also. The taser stun gun will shoot the barbs out up to 15 feet. The taser stun gun sends out an electrical impulse that shut down the central nervous system. The impulse overrides any message that your brain is sending to your other parts of your body and temporarily incapacitate the bank robber.

Another security measure would be having a Skylink Security System with autodialer and panic alarms as well the silent alarms. Silent alarms are normally centrally located by the tellers. Tellers may not be able to get to the silent alarm. The Skylink Security System with autodialer and panic alarms could help not being able to trip the silent alarms. The panic alarms could be carried on every employee and with a touch of a button a signal is sent to the main unit and the police are dispatched out.

Extreme Measures

We could also take this to the other extreme. Maybe tellers having guns behind the counter would solve the issue. The tellers and other bank employees should have to take a police course on gun safety, should keep up on their training skills having so many hours in at the shooting range and checking the guns in an out of the bank. Also putting bullet proof Plexiglas up from the counter to the ceiling and only having a little hole in the Plexiglas to speak through and having the half dish to pass cash through, 3 foot thick concrete walls and counters. Banks should also have a couple of security guards on duty at all times and metal detectors at doorways.

This may no be the friendliest way of doing business, but it would deter the bank robbers from attempting to rob the bank because they know that it would not get them anywhere. Extra security measures would help the employees and most customers feel safer about the bank and their money. Bank owners should care about their employees and want to protect them in whatever way that they can.

--
Diamond Grade Security is the only self defense source you need for stun guns, pepper spray, surveillance cameras, child safety, personal and home security alarms, voice changers and recorders, child protection and safety lights, diversion safes, hand held metal and bug detectors, Tasers, instructional self defense videos and much much more. http://www.business-home-protection.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Arming Teachers and Bank Tellers

Every time there is a school shooting, we hear about arming the teachers with guns. With all the bank robberies that go on, we have never heard about arming the bank tellers with guns. The American people are saying that bank tellers are not important enough to be secured. Shortly after the shooting at Columbine the idea of arming teachers with guns came about full force. Teachers and other school administrators are there to teach our children.

A total of 6,985 bank robberies occurred last year alone. We may hear of 4 school shootings a year. Bank tellers deal with the public everyday. They may face an attempted bank robber that maybe highly intoxicated, on drugs, or just completely desperate. None of these situations make things safe for a bank teller in their job. The teller has no security between the assailant and themselves, except for the counter. The counter would be easy for anyone to jump over.

Bank tellers are extremely vulnerable to threats and bank robberies. Bank tellers do not get advanced notice that the bank is going to get robbed until it actually happens. With school shootings, another student knew about the plan before it happened and that person never told the proper authorities. Probably because the kids thought that no one would believe them. For example a boy calls 911 to get help for his mom. His first call was taken as a prank.

The boy called back four hours later and the dispatcher still thought it was a prank. When the police finally arrived at the boy’s house, his mother was dead. We can not take what our children say lightly. Maybe that student that knew about the shooting plan and did tell the proper authorities. That student was either brushed off by the proper authorities or the authorities did not believe that student. With no action being taken, it is no surprise that Americans are immune to the violence that goes on in the schools.

Teachers deal with our children 90% of the time. Most teachers see parents of their students a couple times a week to a couple times a year depending on the grade. There are very few instances of an adult walking into the school with the intent to go on a shooting massacre. The schools should have surveillance cameras to monitor locations in the school. The schools should set standards by installing metal detectors at every entrance/exit including emergency exits and security guards at every entrance.

These entrances should have surveillance camera systems all activities. The schools have other options of preventing school shootings. Arming the teachers with guns should never be an option. There are a lot of teachers that are female and can be easily over powered by a student. The assailants that are involved in the school shooting are students. There are many teachers that are not stable. There are teachers who are heavy drinkers, drug abusers, and who perform in child abuse acts.

Other options that are available to both bank tellers and teacher are arming with pepper spray and taser stun guns. Making one entrance and exit accessible to the public with metal detectors and security guards. Better surveillance systems with someone to monitor activity at all given times and adding more security guards. Arming bank tellers is highly more important as arming teachers. Bank tellers should have to go through extensive training to be able to arm themselves with guns and will required continual training throughout their careers.

There should be pay raise for the tellers that complete and passes all the training that would go along with arming themselves. You never hear of a bank teller being suspended for child abuse, drugs or drinking. They deal with thousands of dollars a day. Being in a bank robbery is a very scary thing. Bank teller stays calm during the robbery and need to be praised for that. They go to work everyday never knowing if their bank will be robbed today.

--
Diamond Grade Security is the only self defense source you need for stun guns, pepper spray, surveillance cameras, child safety, personal and home security alarms, voice changers and recorders, child protection and safety lights, diversion safes, hand held metal and bug detectors, Tasers, instructional self defense videos and much much more. http://www.business-home-protection.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Abusing Our Children

No child is should go up in a home where they live in fear. There are too many reports of child abuse. The number of child abuse cases are tremendous. Especially when you take into consideration that 2,700 children will be abused today. Another 2,700 will be abused tomorrow and the next day and the next day. In one day, three children will die of abuse. These children will never make it to their fifth birthday.

Every 10 seconds there is a report of child abuse. An estimated 906,000 children were victims of some form of child abuse in 2003 alone. The problem is that the abuse is happening, but the authorities are doing little to help prevent it. Most kids will not tell that they are being abused. They have been told by the abuser that he/she will kill them or their siblings or the rest of their family.

These children are also afraid that they will get worse abuse if they tell someone. A child can tell you that everything is fine. That is when we need to look at the signs and effects of child abuse. These children maybe telling us that they are being abused in a nonverbal way. Many of these cases were reported to the police and to the Departments of Children and Family Services. While the initial report may have been investigated, but Department of Children and Family Services could not find enough evidence to remove the children from the homes.

These children ultimately pay the price. There are four main forms of child abuse. They are physical, emotional, neglect, and sexual. The most common form of abuse is neglect. When a child is being sexually abused more than likely they are being physically abused as well. No form of child abuse is the child's fault. All forms of child abuse are detrimental to the child's physical, social, mental, and psychological development.

Recently in the news, a 13 year old girl is being charged for shooting her father to death. This girls suffered physical and sexual abuse at the hands of her father for years. Her brother also suffered the same abuse at the hands of her father. The authorities were called and did nothing to prevent any more abuse from happening to these two children. She shot her father in the face knowing that it was the only way to get out of this violent situation.

Another case that recently hit the new was a 3 year was raped by her uncle. This girls uncle has a history of sexual abuse. He was living in the same house as the 3 year old and injured her so bad that she had to be hospitalized. Her mother found her abused and bleeding in his room. If the authorities do not find significant evidence on the first visit, then maybe they should be putting surveillance cameras or digital room recorders in the home.

These surveillance cameras or digital room recorders would give them the proof. Closing the case after the first visit is not an option. They may need to visit the home unannounced a couple of times to get a true picture of what is going on. We have all heard of child abuse cases that we have heard about on the news. When we hear the news of a child dying or being seriously injured because of abuse, we are appalled. We want to know where the authorities were in this case and how this child slipped through the cracks.

The public has all these questions for the authorities when this happens but no answers from them. The public then drops these questions when those same authorities say that they are investigating the abuse and what led the abuse to get so bad that it winds up in serious injury or death to the child. It is time we start protecting all children and asking these questions. Do not let another child slip through the cracks of our system.

--
Diamond Grade Security is the only self defense source you need for stun guns, pepper spray, surveillance cameras, child safety, personal and home security alarms, voice changers and recorders, child protection and safety lights, diversion safes, hand held metal and bug detectors, Tasers, instructional self defense videos and much much more. http://www.business-home-protection.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com
