Jaguar’s New Entry for 2007: the all-new Jaguar C-XF

The team that designs the C-XF is the very same team that produced the award winning Jaguar XK sports GT range in 2005, headed by Jaguar Director of Design Ian Callum together with Julian Thomson, Head of Advanced Design. They said that the C-XF concept provides a preview of next-generation Jaguars.

Bibiana Boerio Managing Director of Jaguar Cars has also this to say: “The C-XF – and the future generations of sports saloons it signals – reaffirms the direction Jaguar is taking. When we launched the new XK sports car series, we talked about a product-led transformation of the company. We promised that new Jaguars would be beautiful, fast, glamorous and evocative. The new XK delivered on that promise and the C-XF proves that these same values and more are coming in Jaguar saloon cars.”

The new design of the C-XF exudes confidence, purity and efficiency. It also conveys dynamism and movement even when the car is not moving. But the C-XF is not just all about power it also shows the remarkable heritage of Jaguar combining bold, contemporary features exemplifying the evolution that Jaguar has gone through.

Ian Callum explains further, “Throughout its history Jaguar has created some of the most striking, modern and beautiful sports saloons imaginable and our objective with C-XF was to recognize those principle design disciplines. The values that I see in Jaguar aesthetics include purity, dynamism, latent power, balance and modernity.”

Jaguar History Tidbits

It was Sir William Lyons that created earlier iconic model designs of the Jaguar and he demanded that the same aesthetic qualities should be incorporated in producing the Jaguars. And this is exactly where the C-XF’s designing team has taken their inspiration. The new Jaguar C-XF is to be equipped with the most sophisticated Jaguar parts which Ian Callum describes as “the absolute definition of athleticism”.

According to Callum, “Jaguars should be perceived as cool cars… and cool cars attract interesting, edgy people. The next generations of Jaguars will do just that.”

It should be noted that Jaguar has the lowest recorded sales for 2006. It has declined 34% from its Dec. 2005 sales of 2,445 units sold to just 1,553 units sold for Dec. 2006. Hopefully the C-XF can make things better for Jaguar.

C-XF Shows Jaguar’s Future Design Era

Jaguar pushes the green button and starts it futuristic design. The new design direction is imbibed in Jaguar C-XF concept car which will make its debut at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan.

"The Jaguar C-XF concept is the most dynamic and modern four-door car that Jaguar has ever created, a design showcase heralding the next generations of our sports saloon models," said Ian Callum, Design Director for Jaguar, in a statement.

According to Jaguar, the new sedan is not just another concept car – it is much more than that. The Jaguar auto body parts in C-XF sedan boast the most dynamic and modern styling that delivers a glimpse to the future for Jaguar. The exterior of the car is made pure and athletic; the interior is innovative and striking yet practical.

The grille is bold and aggressive; headlamps narrow and angular; aluminium wheels polished; and the color deliberately chosen to contribute to its overall vitality. “The tonality has a functional aspect but also extreme beauty; mechanical designs that are fit for purpose are often beautifully designed – we’ve taken our inspiration from machinery as diverse as aircraft to cameras in seeking to make the car look like it was milled from a solid piece of metal,” said Julian Thomson, Head of Advanced Design.

C-XF has “one of the most exciting interiors Jaguar has ever done,” Callum added. “C-XF is a showcase for innovative technology, some of which will feature in one way or another on the next generation of Jaguar cars. Every Jaguar interior should have a sense of fun, but we also recognise that technology should only be there when you want to use it. Yes, there is a sense of theatre about the innovations we have chosen to highlight on the C-XF, but there is also an organised simplicity that brings order and structure to every system.”

CX-F is also equipped with 4.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, tuned to generate over 420bhp and 500Nm of torque. The engine mated to the a six-speed automatic delivers lightning-quick manual gearchanges; thanks to the Jaguar Sequential Shift System.

Ford Corporate Realignment Promises New Light

Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Ford Motor Co., earlier announced a corporate realignment. Said realignment delved into putting greater concentration on its worldwide market as well as customers without compromising assets and capabilities leverage.

Realignment carries with it a new structure. Now, Mark Fields, Ford of the Americas; Lewis Booth, Ford of Europe and the Premier Automotive Group; and John Parker, Ford of Asia Pacific and Africa, and Mazda; will all be reporting directly to Mulally. In regard to business units' support, Derrick Kuzak will lead global product development. Kuzak will also report directly to Mulally. He will continue managing product development for the Americas. He will also be supported by J Mays, who is responsible for Ford design.

Tony Brown, purchasing; Bennie Fowler, quality and advanced manufacturing engineering; Nick Smither, information technology; and Richard Parry-Jones, chief technical officer will now be reporting to the Ford CEO. Mulally's other direct reports is unchanged.

In an interview, Mulally said, "An integrated, global product development team supporting our automotive business units will enable us to make the best use of our global assets and capabilities and accelerate development of the new vehicles our customers prefer, and do so more efficiently. This new leadership will enable us to work together more effectively as one Ford team to continuously improve the quality, productivity and speed of our product development process."

Ford, an automotive industry leader, manufactures and distributes vehicles in 200 markets globally. It has about 100 plants and 300,000 workers around the globe. Ford units include Aston Martin, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury and Volvo. Ford vehicles are now aimed at excellent to boost the automaker's standing.

The XK8 Convertible concept car that was flaunted by Jaguar at the Detroit Auto Show is making a graceful impact in the auto industry. XK8 exudes sensibility wrapped in stylish curves and elegance.

Auto enthusiasts said that XK8 Convertible got poise, grace and power. Ian Callum, Jaguar design guru said he created the Jaguar XK8's lines in homage to those of Kate Winslet. Callum admitted that his well-received and irrefutably lovely XK8 Jaguar design was inspired by Kate Winslet. Winslet is the lead star of the blockbuster movie Titanic. She was Leonardo Di Caprio's muse in said movie. Enthusiasts speculate that Callum must have admired the lady's lines. Callum said, "[Winslet has] substance, she is not just a pretty face". Evidently, body parts Jaguar XK8 are made to complement the delicately curvaceous shrink-wrapped beauty which is very much feminine. In fact, it is far from the aggressive charisma of Corvettes.

Experts and aficionados alike appreciate the classy and innovative XKR. They said that this is a good sign of life for Jaguar. XF: New Teaser From The Jag

The Jag in the auto industry has partly pulled the curtain covering its new teaser - the XF. Teaser image of Jaguar XF was released by the automaker to just barely reveal the concept car it will be unveiling at the North American International Auto Show in January next year. The image suggests a "major new concept car" for enthusiasts to look forward to.

All-new XF is deemed the replacement of S-Type, a midsize luxury car which has been known for its versatility, ergonomics and refinement. So far, the minds of Jaguar enthusiasts are reeling. They ask whether the new car from Jaguar would create a bold new design to save the ailing automaker. Some of them think that XF would lead a new design direction and deviate from the usual Jaguar trend. Moreover, they anticipate that XF will tickle their car fancies and satisfy their driving needs.

Jaguar did not give details about its new addition in its lineup however; it confirmed the fact that it will be unveiling the car in autumn next year. According to Jaguar, "Further details and imagery will be sent nearer the time." Also, customer deliveries are scheduled to start in spring 2008. However, the schedule is also subject to automaker's consideration of the current market.

Jaguar managing director Bibiana Boerio said XF will "challenge people to think again about Jaguar as daring and different," and that "if you like the new XK, just wait until you see the new Jaguar XF."

Jaguar noted that all-new XF is the "next stage" of its design era. The automaker also noted that XF, equipped with new Jaguar S-Type parts, will be developed at Product Development Centre in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham in United Kingdom. According to critics, Jaguar intended to put the S-Type out and replace it with XF to pasture.

Jaguar S-Type, in which the XF was based, is an executive car that was introduced for the 2000 model year. It is the revival of the previous S-Type unleashed in 1964. The production of the S-Type will be discontinued next year in favor of the XF. Little is known about the new teaser from Jaguar. However, answers to some queries are found at Ford's websites.

After the scare of being sold to yet another owner, the Jaguar brand seems not be at any cost affected by the situation. In fact, it just continues to live and thrive and battle it out in the auto industry just like it did before. 2008 Jaguar S-Type Comes With A Brand New Charm

All-new Jaguar S-Type introduced at the Bologna Motor Show carries a brand new name and a stunning appeal. The car promises better look and performance with more value for money.

The latest S-Type is now named Jaguar XF. New Jaguar S-type parts entertained various specification enhancements to create fascinating design, advanced performance, and a more comfortable ergonomics. Drop S, Insert XF - That's the '08 Replacement Jag

Looks like Jaguar S-Type is exhausted of carrying its name and decided to bring in something pleasant to hear. For the model year, Jaguar will be dropping the S and replacing it with XF for its new generation S-Type. This information was relayed by Bibiana Boerio, Jaguar chief. Moreover, the S-Type will no longer be an S-Type at all.

The change in name is triggered by the automaker's vision of creating an entirely different car. According to some car enthusiasts, the current S-Type is nothing but plain old boring styling. However, with the introduction of a new name, enthusiasts expect that the XF will be as aggressive and distinct like the XK series. Boerio added that the upcoming Jaguar XF "challenge people to think again about Jaguar as daring and different."

The assembly of Jaguar S-Type styling parts and accessories along with the production of the car will be discontinued next year. In view of such cessation of production, the automaker will be introducing Jaguar XF as the replacement for the S-Type. Neither the information nor details of XF have been publicized. Nonetheless, Jaguar will be unveiling its new pride autumn of 2007. Depending on market, the commencement of deliveries is scheduled on spring 2008.

“Some people find the Jaguar S-Type to be rather hideous. We actually like it, although the design is certainly a tad long in the tooth and more-than-ripe for an upgrade. But this predictive renders its successor, the new XF, due to roll into showrooms in '08. It looks like what would result if Rover commissioned Ralph Gilles' old self to design an Audi. Unfortunate. Let's hope that the artist is off the mark," said Davey G. Johnson, an auto enthusiast.

The new name, as critics say, creates a sense of consistency throughout the Jaguar lineup, with the XJ and XK already sharing a naming scheme. Previously, it was reported that the replacement of S-Type will be made of steel instead of aluminum. Auto analysts conclude that the decision was made to capture a bigger slice of the auto market in less than no time. This is because the former is time-consuming compared to the latter.

Jaguar S-Type competes with BMW 5 Series, Lexus GS and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Hence, XF is also anticipated to compete in similar segment.
