<description><![CDATA[ How do you know when you've had "enough" water? When your urine is clear enough to read through. The purpose of urine is to get rid of waste, like nitrogen, proteins, etc. When the urine is clear, that means you've had enough fluid for that day to wash it all out of your system. When it's not clear, it means that urine is a bit too "concentrated" and you'll need more water to "dilute" it. Remember, water does more than just flush waste out of your system. It allows chemicals reactions in your body, gives nutrients to all your cells and gives your body energy. Dehydration is one major reason people feel sluggish all the time. The more water you drink, the more salt your body needs to help absorb the water, or else you're running to the bathroom all the time. But don't add in regular table salt - that will just bloat you. What you want is sea salt - something like Celtic Sea Salt or Himalayan Sea Salt is best. The amount of water you drink is also dependant on your body weight, amount of food you eat, types of food, if you exercised that day, etc. A very general rule of thumb is to have half your body weight in ounces. So, if you're a 150 lbs person, 75 oz. of daily purified water is good. And remember coffee, juice, tea and soda's do not count. They actually require you to drink even more water, due to the acid content and caffeine.<br /><br />Which of the following is most important to determine if you're aging well? Your blood pressure (having hypertension). While many people worry about their weight and cholesterol levels (both contributing to accelerated aging), your blood pressure is actually the most important measure of your health - directly and indirectly. Now, allow me to give you a simple analogy so you can better understand this. When there is a hole in your wall, you would use plaster to fix it and cover it up, correct? Similar thing in the body... When one of your arteries has a hole, your body quickly uses cholesterol to repair it, "fill in the hole" and cover it up. Follow me so far? But the question is, what caused the hole in the arteries to begin with? The answer is, high blood pressure (also known as Hypertension)! Basically, when you're unhealthy, your arteries start to decay (unhealthy foods and high insulin levels are big reasons) and become thin in certain spots. Eventually, high blood pressure adds excess stress to the heart and just "blows a hole" in the decaying arteries. So, try to keep your blood pressure at optimal levels, around 120 over 80. Now, did you know that elevated blood pressure can take as much as 10 years off your life! <description><![CDATA[ <br />Getting fat is definitely not pretty, but it can also be very dangerous. What is the most "dangerous" fat on our body? The most dangerous and unhealthy place to have excess fat is around the belly and stomach regions. Remember, all your main vital organs are in your upper torso - stomach and chest. When the fat is stored in the stomach, it takes up excess space and creates inflammation, which adds pressure on your arteries. This "irritation" puts you at risk for blocked arteries, which can lead to heart attacks and strokes. This also tends to increase cholesterol levels as well. <br /><br />Impotence and lowered sex drive could also be a sign of heart disease. When a man (as well as women to a smaller degree) is sexually aroused, his body releases a gas called Nitric Oxide (that gas is internal, not external). This Nitric Oxide, also called N.O., helps dilate and open the arteries in the penis, so extra blood can flow in and one can get an erection. But if little N.O. is being produced, erections are soft or temporary. Now, this Nitric Oxide is present all over the body, especially in muscles - from your biceps, to your heart! Lowered levels of Nitric Oxide is one of the first signs that he heart is having hardened arteries. So, the goal is to keep Nitric Oxide levels normal and optimal.<br /><br />What day of the week and time of the day do most heart attacks happen? Monday mornings. That’s the day you need to be extra careful. Here’s why … You have blood running through your veins and an artery in your heart. When your diet isn't clean, you aren't exercising and not taking correct supplements, your blood will carry more and more plaque through it (this is why you also need to lower cholesterol levels). Well, this plaque starts to build up on the artery walls. Sometimes, this plaque can rupture and crack open, leaving the surface raw and exposed - similar to when you get a cut on your skin. Then, platelets in the blood begin to form a scab over the rupture to try and heal it. But, this can lead to "over scabbing", which can cause a blockage and therefore, heart attack. Now, what does this have to do with Monday mornings? Well, Monday morning are a time of stress due to change (from relaxing weekend - to stressful early-morning work day). <description><![CDATA[ Aspirin has been around for over half a century. It's primary and "original" use was for pain relief. But when Tylenol and NSAIDs (such as Advil) took over the pain relief field, the aspirin industry "bigwigs" pulled out the "big guns" and went after: heart disease.<br /><br />What the heck, they figured. After all, a billion-dollar medicine has to go somewhere. And like most businesses, you have to keep growing and finding new "revenue streams" to increase revenue and profits. The "big killer" of heart disease seemed like a natural avenue to go down. So aspirin decided to acquire "new indications" as a blood-clot fighter and is already widely used to treat and prevent strokes and heart attacks.<br /><br />It Didn't Work For Apples<br />Just about every male I know over the age of 60 (including younger men) and many women (BOTH my parents in fact) are taking "an aspirin a day to keep the doctor away." Well, it didn't work for apples and I don't think it works for aspirin either. But that isn't stopping its promoters from telling people it will do that and a whole lot more.<br /><br />Crazy Claims<br />Take a quick look at some of the other claims the "Aspirin Institute" is making about its product. The "Institute" strongly hints ("studies suggest that...") that this "miracle drug" cures, decreases, alleviates, or prevents:<br />- Breast cancer <br />- Migraine headaches <br />- Hodgkin's disease Alzheimer's disease <br />- Prostate cancer <br />- Cancer of the pancreas <br />- Colon cancer Birth defects <br />- Leukemia Immune disorders, including AIDS <br /><br />And that's just a partial list, But geez ... take a look at the last one - AIDS! Wow, if Aspirin really could do that, it would be a "miracle" drug, right? ... <br /><br />So the "experts" seem to think that at least 95 percent of the population needs aspirin on a daily basis. But the dangers associated with extensive use of aspirin are downright horrifying.<br /><br />Aspirin Does The Opposite<br />Researchers have reported that aspirin might, in fact, increase your risk for stroke, heart attack, macular degeneration (blindness), and cataract formation! You didn't hear anything about these findings because no one reported on them in the popular press. So if you don't read medical journals in your spare time, you probably missed these REAL bits of news. <br /><br />Here's what the researchers have to say:<br />- 40% of people who regularly take large doses of aspirin actually demonstrated an INCREASED risk of both stroke and heart attack. <br />- Regular aspirin users have a significantly increased risk of macular degeneration with blindness! <br />- Aspirin use also puts people at a 44% increased risk of cataracts. <br /><br />Of course, there's always the widely known increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding that accompanies aspirin too. And these sorts of findings weren't published in some lowly rag. No, the highly respected prestigious rags, like the British Medical Journal, Lancet, and the Journal of the American Medical Association, came to a similar conclusion: aspirin shows no benefit in the prevention of heart attacks!<br /><br />To Be Continued ...<br />I try my best to keep these articles short.
