It has always been my private conviction that any man who pits his intelligence against a fish and loses has it coming. ~John Steinbeck

I've always been intrigued about finding new ways to catch fish. After trial and error of using different methods over the years to land may types of fish. I found studying how fish behave in the many varied weather patterns and water types, here are some free fishing secrets to help you along. You'll find out as you read that, they're not a secret at all.

1. The Way Fish Think

When you hunt for deer, and any other animal for that matter, there are some set rules you have to follow if you are going to catch some very wary Brook and Brown trout.
Will the rules for hunting some how help with catching Trout.

2.Research and Study

Understanding how a fish thinks, will increase your chances of success. You could go to a local bookstore as well as the library. Within a week you
will know more about Trout than 99.9% of the world's population.

3. Trout Fishing Secrets

Trout have monocular vision. This means that each eye can focus on an object independently of the other eye, giving them an all-around panoramic field of vision. Research has confirmed that fish, to some extent, can see color, above and beyond some practical uses of color. The fact that most strikingly colored species use their pigmentation for attracting mates; or they use color to hide from and scare off would be predators.

4. Hearing

Sound travels more than four times faster through water than it does through air. Trout can hear sound through the vibrations in the water, through a porous lateral line along the sides of its body. As it picks up water vibrations, the fish becomes aware of feeding frenzies or other fish fleeing that happens nearby.

5. Touch

There are a lot of species that have taste receptors on the skin, which send food messages to the brain, and prompts the fish to go towards the source of the food taste. Many fish have receptors on their heads, mouths, lips, and on, barbels like that of a catfish.

6. Smell

Many species of fish have nostrils with which to smell odors coming from food and mating partners. They have nostrils with sensors that detect the odors from the water and send signals to their brain.

To really understand how Trout think, what spooks them, what excites them, when they feed, when they travel, and a number of other factors really is very important if you want to fill your creels full of fish consistently. Go to your local library, book store online or off. There are many good authors with many good secrets of how to fill your creel. Hope you you enjoyed these few freshwater fishing secrets tidbits.

--
Fishing Guide Wow Great Tips and Info For Catching More and Bigger Fish, even Freshwater Fishing Secrets

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Geocaching, have you tried out this new high - tech hobby yet? Its getting, very popular! What is it? Geocaching is a fun adventure game for GPS users.

The idea is to have different groups both individual and organized set caches up all over the world and then share the locations of these caches on the internet.

After finding the location coordinates GPS users can then locate the caches. As caches are discovered, the finder will usually enjoy a variety of treasures.

Geocache Treasure or Rewards

The only thing the treasure finder is asked to do on finding a cache is to add something themselves.

All the visitor is asked to do is, if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

This sure is a great way to be outdoors and enjoy the adventure and thrill of the hunt!

What things might you find in a cache, all depends on its size, the log book, non-perishable food items, books, toys, cds.
Besides the rewards, caches most often contain a log book of sorts that the cache hunters can leave a log entry or note for those future cache hunters. http://www.geocoins.ca/

What Is GPS

The GPS letters stand for "Global Positioning System," there are a series of about two dozen satellites in a low earth orbit that constantly broadcasts their position.

The receivers then triangulate on these signals and determine where you are on the earth's surface. After selecting a cache, entering the coordinates into your GPS receiver, the receiver will then show you just how far away the cache is and in what direction it is in.

What Makes This So Exciting

The truth is getting to the cache is where most of the fun lies.

Just think about it, even if you know exactly how far and in what direction to go, what obstigals lie before you. A forest, a highway, swamp, mountain and many other impassible barriers. The idea is you need to find your way around these obstigals.

Remembering to stay within the law, getting permission when necessary to cross private property. Most caches are accesssable throught public land anyway. http://www.brillig.com/geocaching/maps.shtml

Whats The Cost

To participate in geocaching is completely free, although you will need a GPS receiver. They will generally run you around a hundred dollars and up to buy one.

Other than that its free. You should always remember to carry some extra cash, for ovious things like gas for your car, parking, munchies, etc.

Did you know that on May 2nd, 2000 Dave Ulmer placed the first cache near Portland Oregon. The birth of geocaching.

--
Val and Robin Shortt are experienced campers and own three outdoor websites.
