<description><![CDATA[ Losing weight by hypnosis is now a pretty common thing to do. Hypnosis has long been recognized as a scientifically proven method of helping you to achieve your goals in all kinds of ways – it’s long been considered one of the best ways to quit smoking, for example. In recent years an increasing number of people have turned to hypnosis for other help as well – and they’ve found that this is a great way to lose weight and, most importantly, to make sure that the weight stays off.<br /><br />As this method of weight loss has grown in popularity a lot of the popular media has picked up on its great effects. Weight problems are a matter of great concern for us as a nation after all. So, it’s no great surprise to see hypnotherapy regularly mentioned on TV as a tried and tested solution for sustained weight loss.<br /><br />Recently, for example, Dateline NBC followed 6 people who were due to attend their high school reunion. It was their 25th anniversary and they had 10 months to achieve their goals – each of them had to want to lose a set minimum amount of weight and they all had to be willing to try a different method of weight loss. This was designed to show just how well (or badly!) each weight loss solution might work.<br /><br />So, each member of the group was given the option of choosing a different weight loss route to follow. These included Weight Watchers, extreme exercise, the Atkins diet, Slim Fast, the Jorge Cruise weight-loss program and – of course – hypnotism.<br /><br />Now, it’s easy for us to claim that hypnosis will help you lose weight and maintain weight loss. We know that this kind of program will help you simply because it helps you re-program the way you think about food so you can modify your eating habits with no real effort. All you need is the real desire to lose weight.<br /><br />But, to reinforce this the NBC show threw up some interesting results. The guy who opted to take on the hypnosis method was placed first at the three month point and second at the five month point with a weight loss of 39lbs. Second place not sound so good? Well, the first place here went to the Atkins dieter – and, as with any extreme diet, there is a risk here of health problems and a very real chance of re-gaining weight again as soon as you stop the diet and start regular eating again.<br /><br />The fact is that hypnosis gives you a cure for life – it can change the way you view food and the reasons why you eat it. And, it can reinforce the work it does here with a positive attitude towards exercise and living a healthy life. So, it’s far easier to lose weight as you will be actively working towards maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle on a subconscious level. And, this doesn’t stop in the way that a diet does as once you re-program the way you think it stays with you.<br /><br />As a side issue, the wife of the guy who took on hypnosis was so impressed by the way it worked that she signed up for sessions to quit smoking as she could see how well it worked for him. It doesn’t matter if you just need to lose a couple of pounds for a special occasion or if you need to lose a lot of weight to improve your general health. Sometimes, it can seem downright impossible to get on track.<br /><br />Actually losing weight doesn’t just significantly improve your chances of living to a ripe old age – it’ll also make you feel good now. <description><![CDATA[ A lot of people remain skeptical about the solutions that hypnosis can offer. They know that hypnotherapists claim that their techniques can help you deal with issues like quitting smoking and losing weight but they still can’t quite accept that it could work for them.<br /><br />This skepticism is generally based on the fact that people realize how hard it can be to do stuff like lose weight and quit smoking. It can be particularly hard to lose weight as it’s all too easy to fall into the yo-yo diet trap. Here you try out a new diet and lose the weight you need – then, you stop the diet and relax and the weight just comes back. Before you know it you’ll be back to square one….<br /><br />But, with hypnosis this doesn’t need to happen. Many people find it hard to lose weight simply because they view food in the wrong way. They may, for example, view sweet and fatty foods as desirable because they were rewarded with these kinds of foods when they were young and behaved well. <description><![CDATA[ Why does hypnosis help with weight loss?<br /><br /><br /><br />It’s becoming more and more common nowadays to turn to hypnosis when we want to achieve a goal. We may want to quit smoking, rid ourselves of phobias or lose weight – in all these cases hypnosis offers a proven and successful solution. So why does hypnosis work?<br /><br />If you look at hypnosis for weight loss then the reasons behind the success of this method becomes clear. If you suffer from weight problems – whether you yo-yo diet or can’t seem to find the motivation to get on a diet that suits you – then you probably already know that your problem isn’t really your weight at the end of the day. The problem is more likely to rest with you.<br /><br />In the majority of cases people cannot lose weight effectively because of some psychological issue that prevents them from achieving their goal. You may, for example, naturally crave unhealthy foods rather than healthy ones. Eating unhealthy foods here may make you happier and more comfortable. Or, you may eat the wrong foods or the wrong amount of food whenever you are stressed, unhappy or uncomfortable. In either case hypnosis can help.<br /><br />Hypnosis helps here because it goes straight to the root of the problem – your unhealthy eating patterns – and helps modify your behavior. So, after this kind of treatment your mind won’t tell you to eat sugary or fatty foods – it will tell you to eat healthy ones. And, your mind won’t tell you to reach for a snack when you’re worried or stressed but instead will give you an alternative ways to manage stress. This behavior modification is the key to successful weight loss – and keeping it off.<br /><br />How do I know hypnosis works?<br /><br />Hypnosis is a scientifically accredited method of helping people overcome all kinds of difficulties. For example, in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (Vol.64, No.3) in 1996 a study showed that the average weight loss without hypnosis was 6.03 pounds. With hypnosis average weight loss came in at 14.88 pounds. So, with hypnosis you can double your weight loss with no extra effort.<br /><br />And, because hypnosis modifies your behavior at source then you stand a far greater chance of keeping the weight off rather than putting it on again. A study that appeared in the Journal of Clinical Psychology (41) in 1985 tested a group of people who used hypnosis to lose weight and a group who did not. Whilst both groups lost weight during the study the hypnosis group continued to lose weight after the study had finished and achieved their weight loss goals.
