Everybody wants to get their website listed in Google. And with good reason, Google is currently the most popular search engine on the internet. So how do you get listed?

The first step is to create a Google-friendly site. Google’s Webmaster Guidelines offer help on general design, technical, and quality issues.Their first piece of advice seems like a no-brainer; “Give visitors the information they're looking for”. Okay, what they really mean is make sure you produce a high quality website. And the logic behind that is sound, if you produce a good website that is likely to attract many visitors, then other webmasters will be more willing to link to you. We’ll cover links in a little while.
Be sure to include keyword rich content on your site.

Think about your topic and what words you would use to try to find it on the web. If you need help with keywords, there are free tools on the internet to generate keywords and check their popularity.

Now about links.
Your link network is one of the most important keys to getting listed on Google. If you don’t have any incoming links, don’t even bother trying to get into Google. Keep the links to your site natural. Natural links are links that have been generated by a webmaster because they think your site content is valuable and can be helpful to their visitors. An unnatural link is a link manufactured in an attempt to “fool” the search engines into thinking your site is more popular than it really is. These types of links include link schemes and doorway pages.

Consider adding a sitemap.
Of course Google now offers a Sitemaps tool to make this easy. It is available in their Webmasters Tools section. Sitemaps offer the keyword rich text links that Google’s search engine loves. They also suggest viewing your site with a text browser such as Lynx. Most spiders see your site much as Lynx would, and may help to identify areas such as JavaScript, cookies, DHTML or Macromedia Flash applications that may keep you from seeing your entire site in a text browser.

Whatever you do, don’t stuff your pages with keywords, attempt to “cloak” pages or put up “crawler only” pages. Google considers those links and pages deceptive and may ignore your site.

Don't use images to display important names, content, or links. Their crawler doesn't recognize text contained in graphics. If you must use images, use the ALT tag attribute for those images.

Don't create multiple copies of a page under different URLs. If you offer text-only or printer-friendly versions of pages be sure to block duplicates from the spiders using a robots.txt file. Google also offers information on using a robots.txt file in their information on blocking Googlebot.

Follow these guidelines and you should have a Google-friendly site in no time. Keep in mind that getting listed is only half the battle. The only sites that profit from a listing are the sites in the top 20 of the Search.

--
Pageonerankings.com.au is an Australian Search Engine Optimization Company that provides quality SEO services for companies in Australia.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

They serve several purposes and will improve your rank by using popular keywords. Here are a few points to get maximum benefit from them.

So what are anchor links? These are links based on one of your keywords or key phrases, which will be based on the keywords and phrases in your content page or article. This will replace the URL or just a command to “click here.”

How they help to raise your rank and traffic

Googlebots find these easy to follow and can gather information for your site easier with these kind of links. Plus they collect all anchor links in the database and Google will consider them as valuable assets or resources for your site. Also when you use good keywords for your anchor links you will get more searches and get a better position in Google.

An important thing to remember with anchor links is that they are part of the Google database and are contributing to your website’s assets. If you erase these links when you remove or change content you will be losing valuable data for your site in Google’s database. This can result in a decrease in Page Rank. The reason being that Google will consider you have lost links and valuable resources for their customers (your visitors).

How to preserve your Anchor links when changing or discarding content:

When you erase or change content it is important to keep these links with Google. There are a couple of simple ways you can do this:

* You can preserve them by writing new content around your old links keeping the original anchor links intact.
* You can also modify content and still keep old links.

Using anchors links with your articles: When distributing articles it is important for you to use anchor links in your article and bio box. This will bring more visitors with the use of keywords and allow Googlebots to follow these links by means of the keywords or key phrases. This is especially important in your bio box as this is the link that most people will use.

Blogging with anchor links: when you make blogs always use anchor links. Again it will service the same purpose as those with the articles you are distributing.

When you exchange links with other sites you can also make use of these anchor links instead of using website URLs or commands to click here. This is for the same reasons as above and will help you accumulate better link popularity and Page Rank.

So remember that links are different and can be more effective when you do them right. Anchor links are very valuable as you can see. When you use them for all your articles and web pages you will encourage the Googlebots to crawl your site better and bring your anchor links back as valuable data for your site. So when you next have to use a link consider whether you should use an anchor link instead

--
Pageonerankings.com.au is an Australian SEO Consulting Firm that provides quality SEO services for companies in Australia.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

The most important aspect to any search engine optimization campaign depends on keyword research and keyword targeting. Choices that are made from selecting keywords should be primary factors of optimization far before anything else. Concluding what keywords are best depends on the market and type of web site that needs to be optimized. The research behind determining these keywords sets the theme and capability for any optimization campaign. Those choices will then lead to success or failure once search engine optimization has been applied. The value of an optimization plan can be determined based upon how successful a site is in generating targeted traffic. Optimizing for the right keywords will lead to the most effective results.

There are many factors to consider in optimizing your selected keywords. Once you know who the site is intended to target, begin to search various engines using that particular formula. It is important to think as the targeted user does, and search from where they would most likely start for what they appear to search for. Targeted traffic will be generated by any page ranking well for keywords that are searched by users regularly. While each of these databases are able to provide you with some important data and illustrate the most effective of keyword choices, the rank that an optimized page can achieve on the results pages will always be the most powerful factor in delivering this traffic.

Once you can determine the most searched for and appropriate keywords, you can begin to apply them within the process of optimization. If a web site can be found quickly and easily for the keywords that it targets, then the web site can be more productive. While attracting targeted traffic may seem easy enough, there are some surprises to be found in just about any campaign.

Once again, if the optimized web site can obtain high rankings for those keywords, then the optimization campaign is on its way to becoming a success. Choosing those keywords and phrases though requires some work - both from the optimizer and site owner. Impress your clients and have some things readily available. Optimization professionals should always be aware of the work and research required in order to make web sites rank well! It is after all, their business!

--
Search Engine Optimization Australia

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Your domain name is one of the important factors in optimizing your site.

You may be wondering why your domain name matters. After all how important is it to the search engines anyway? Does it really make any difference to them? Surprisingly enough your domain name can have far reaching effects.

Relevant to your business:

When people see your Domain name they should be able to know immediately what your business is about by looking at your domain (business) name. Remember it is permanent: Your domain name is your business name and as such cannot easily be changed. Therefore try to think carefully before choosing. It will save you a lot of problems in the long run.

Choose your domain name as soon as possible: do not wait to finish your site as your name may have been taken. Decide and register your domain name as soon as you can. Make a list of several names so that if your primary choice is taken you have some backup. Be sure you choose a reliable domain name registration company; you can do this here http://godaddy.com.

Use keywords or key phrases: Before selecting your Domain name always be sure you are using a key phrase that is relevant to your business and well searched. Here is how to find good keywords and phrases for your site. Go to http://goodkeywords.com this will give you many excellent tools to find your basic keywords for your site. It will also help you find key phrases. This is a free download.

You can find more and also narrow them down to Niche (high demand and low supply) keywords and phrases by using wordtracker at http://wordtracker.com.

There is a nominal fee for this but it will be well worth the investment. This is because niche keywords and phrases are very valuable and will draw a very targeted group to your website and have less competition. When you optimize your domain name you will make it easier for searchers to find your site. Googlebots will also crawl and send information to the Google database more easily. This will in turn raise your PR.

Free domain names:

Do not fall into this trap. Many people new to businesses make this common mistake. Your URL should not have someone else’s address tagged onto it, like geocities or other free website addresses. This will bring down the credibility of your business. It is also very difficult to get into the search engines especially Google with a free domain address.

So take care when you choose your domain name. Remember there is more to this than just a name

--
Professional SEO Services

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Affiliate programs can raise your Page Rank, as they will offer your visitors valuable resources.

However as with all techniques there is a right way and a wrong way to achieve this. Here are some points to help you. When you build your website you should have:

* A central theme for it
* Put good optimized content relating to this topic
* Join some affiliate programs.

A central theme for it.

For instance health and wellness, or if possible a less general theme and more of a niche business, high demand and low supply. This will be based on your business concept. Or if you are doing Adsense sites your highest paid keyword.

Put good optimized content relating to this topic: Make sure you have plenty of good high quality content. This should be highly relevant to your business and directed specifically to your market.

Join some affiliate programs: Join affiliate programs that are complimentary to your business. The trick of this is to join affiliate programs that will be good resources for your visitors. When you do this Google will view your site as a quality one offering their customers great resources. Visitors will also join and buy from your affiliate programs.

Additionally you can make landing pages for your affiliate programs.

These can be used for tracking your advertising. Remember to put good informative content in them. For example putting information about the different products your affiliate program offers. You can also write or have written unbiased product reviews. People love good book reviews, these will be seen as good and relevant resources for your visitors.

Remember to interlink and if possible to optimize these landing pages, so that Googlebots can crawl and get information about your content to add to your website data.

Of course there are always some mistakes to avoid: The most common one is joining all sorts of affiliate programs that are not necessarily related to your theme or business. If you do this you will bring down the quality of your site and make it look like a swap meet. This will definitely work against you with Google, as they will see this as not having relevant links and resources for their customers (your visitors). Besides this you will get all sorts of visitors who are completely unrelated and not targeted to your business so you are unlikely to make many sales.

Do not launch too many websites at once: Whatever you do if you are making affiliate mini sites or Adsense sites do not launch too many at a time. Google will view this as trying to spam them and either throw your websites into the sand box or penalize your Page Rank. Slow and sure does the trick.

Don’t link up your sites that are unrelated: again Google will think you are trying to spam the engines with unrelated linking and you will get penalized

When you follow these points you will be able to ensure that your affiliate programs will help your Page Rank to rise as well as make money.

--
Frank Herald A webmaster and internet marketing specialist Search Engine Optimization Australia

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Quality, relevant, resourceful, original!

There are certain things that Google will look for that will have a significant bearing on your Page Rank. One of them is your website content. Content plays a large part in Page Rank. Bear in mind that this cannot be any old content it has to go by Google rules and standards.

So what are the Googlebots (Google’s little spies) looking for?

* Quality
* Relevance
* Resources
* Originality

You both share a common goal: Remember that Google’s customers (the searchers) are also your potential customers because they are your visitors (your VIPs). This means that you are both working together to achieve a common goal. Googles’s rules and standards should be yours as well. Quality is an important factor with Page Rank and positioning with the Google search engine.

Naturally Google wants the best for their customers and site quality is one of their requirements. Quality content is a must for your website Page Rank. This is not hard to do. Here’s what you should think about with your content articles:

* Firstly your style of writing should be easy to read and presented well-don’t write like a kindergartener but do not go off the deep end and write like a PHD professor. Make your paragraphs short with concise sentences. Easy to read easy to understand
* Make it informative –your visitors love information. It is a great pre-seller

Relevance: Google strives to be and is the most relevant search engine out there. They want to make sure their customers; the searchers have the best experience possible when they use the Google search engine. In order to achieve this Google must make sure that when searches are done they will bring up the right websites. For this reason relevancy plays a strong role in Page Rank assessment and appropriate sites must be screened correctly.

Again this is fairly simple. Keep focused on your business topic. All your content should be about your specific industry, information, stories anecdotes, etc.

Resources: Your content should be a good resource for your visitors and Google’s customers. As mentioned it is all about giving Google’s customers the VIP treatment. Your content articles should be informative and links in them lead to good resources that will further help your visitors when they click through to them.

Originality: here’s where you need to be careful. Google’s customers do not want to read rehashed stuff that they have read elsewhere. So do not:

* Copy and paste other people’s articles word for word without their copyrights and Bio Boxes. This is rude and illegal. It is called Plagiarism. Googlebots will catch you and penalize your site. Google doesn’t want to see copied content for their customers. They are looking for fresh original articles.
* Scrape articles and use them verbatim. This is using software to collect articles or snippets of them and place them on your site. If you must do this reword them carefully.

However do:

* Write your own original articles
* Have articles written-there are several freelance sites you can hire writers from
* Get Private Label Right (PLR) articles: A word of caution. You will still have to rewrite these a little as others will be using them. They are usually obtained from membership sites and you can be sure you are not the only member there.

The bottom line is when you write your content obeying the Google rules you will please your visitors and Google alike. Do it right and your Page Rank will rise accordingly.

An article by Search Engine Optimization Australia

--
Frank Herald A webmaster and internet marketing specialist Search Engine Optimization Australia

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Directory submissions explained

Directory submission
Directories are websites that contain a collection of links to related websites. Submitting your site to web directories gets you one-way links back to your website which search engines like. This enhances your search engine rankings, and over time it will increase your traffic. While you most likely will not receive a lot of direct visits from directories, your search engine rankings and natural search engine traffic can increase significantly. This is because the effect of having a few dozen or better still, hundreds of websites linking to yours, causes search engines to crawl your site more often. Additionally you can increase your natural search engine rankings for specific keywords and phrases. This is because of the link anchor text process used in the directory submission.

Article Submissions
Articles are text content about your website or business. It is a great SEO tool that is very important to your business and websites. Search engines love content and the article directories have been around for a long time. They are usually high in PR and get indexed rapidly and quite often by all search engines. In the articles that we submit for you, you place links and URL’s to your website within the article. In Article Submissions, you get links from content (as you actually submit an article) this adds a lot of weight in search engines. With article submissions you will increase your links as well as your PR. Article submissions can also simply be for you to increase visibility to articles that you wrote and looking for feedback and interaction.

Social Bookmark Submission
Social Bookmarking services called: Social Media Optimization (SMO) or Social Media Marketing (SMM). Social networking websites are getting a lot of attention these days including Digg, del.icio.us and MySpace. Along with the buzz, these sites are also generating a lot of traffic! It’s a fairly new advance in generating qualified web traffic to your site. Social bookmarking helps to drive quick traffic and to pass PR effect as they are high PR websites.

Deep Link Submissions
Deep Links are any links or urls of pages within your website other than your home page. Deep Link Submissions allow your website to have even more exposure to directories and search engines. Your web page within your website is promoted just like your homepage. Deep Links from the website provides a “one click” service to your potential customer as the internet is all about being convenient, effortless, and stress free when it comes to searches and links. These deep links also present credibility to a site for they help customer to land directly to the exact location of the item they are looking for. The main benefit of deep linking for Search Engine Optimization is getting your site ranked high in the SERPs (search engine results page).

Blog Submissions
As more and more people are getting involved with the internet and as more websites, blogs, news services, and other online resources continue to grow in number and variety it becomes vital for all websites and blog owners to maintain high visibility and exposure for the content being generated by closely following the major distribution media. Blog submissions will bring traffic to your website, boost your PR, and give your website the prestige it needs to rank high in the search engines.

Paid (Premium) Directory Submissions (on request)
Today’s search engines are giving more weight to Paid Directory links. The reason for this is that these paid directories such as business.com, avivadirectory.com, the open directory and about two dozen other top directories are human edited directories that only allow relevant and quality websites to be submitted. Paid directories are high PR directories and have strong back-links which eventually help your website to climb up in search engine results and pass the PR effect. Paid directories normally take 24-72 hours to approve your links and listing.

We can provide separate pricing on request for any Premium Directory you want submitted to on request.

NOTE: (Client must provide the articles/posts to be submitted. Alternatively for a small surcharge we can create optimized articles, forum and Blog posts.)

--
Frank Herald A webmaster and internet marketing specialist Search Engine Optimization Australia

Source: http://www.articletrader.com
