Noir is a famous Jazz Band from Malta which was created especially to perform in the Jazz Festival 2006.It comprises of Kris Spiteri, Edward Luss, Mario Borg and Alex Debono. All these four band members are expert professionals and they love performing in the important events. Jazz bands usually consist of a rhythm section and a horn section. Later there was an addition of Edward who was popularly known for his fresh ideas and great enthusiasm with great inclinations of Rock/funk/fusion. Both Alex Debono and Mario Borg had already availed the opportunities of performing in the Jazz Festivals in the past with the Johann Strauss Big Band. Finally, Mario Borg was the best possible choice in the formation of this band of quartet.

Government 'Snobby' About Bingo

The government has been accused of being ‘snobby' towards the game of bingo and those who regularly enjoy playing it, it has emerged. People who enjoy playing the game have branded the government snobs after a refusal to lower the bingo tax from twenty two percent. The tax was originally set at fifteen percent, and the increase of seven percent angered the majority of players, as well as a large number of MPs, who opposed the move and called for the tax to remain the same. However, last week it was announced that the government would not back down and the tax would remain at twenty two percent. Hall owners are especially angered by the move, which could potentially lead to the closure of bingo halls up and down the country. The increase means that some of those who run bingo halls are now struggling to pay their rent, meaning that they could have to give up the building for good. There is now an ethical debate, since the people who run bingo halls are generally doing for the community and not for profit.
