Then President Bush came out and talked about how great the move would be and how if Congress moved to block the deal he would whip out his mighty veto pen – something he couldn’t bring himself to do for oh say Campaign Finance Reform! With that you had many conservatives fall in line behind the President who was backing a deal that even he and many other senior officials admitted they knew little if anything about.

Then you have people like myself – conservatives who still do not like this deal one little bit.

I’ve gotten hit with being called an “Islamophobe” and all the “racist” arguments so many times already by left wing hacks who see everything I do as anti-something that it is getting old. And I have also gotten hit with the old “You don’t know enough about this” complaint by fellow conservatives as an attempt to poo poo my virulent opposition.

Tell you what. I’ve got some “reasons” and they are simple and powerful and don’t require a PhD in Business or Islamo-American relations. And guess what? Not one of them has to do with the race OR the religion of the people involved either. They are simply facts.

Fact one:
D.P.W. is owned by a foreign government. NO, I repeat, NO foreign corporation owned by a foreign government should control U.S. land or assets. No foreign government should control major access points to American and our economy. I don’t care if it is the U.A.E., Saudi Arabia, China, France or Great Britain.

Fact two:
We do not need to subsidize the socialism, communism and fascism of foreign countries. Yes, I’ve heard the arguments about how if we integrate them into our “free” market system they will eventually become the same but in the end all we are doing is integrating more socialism, communism and fascism into our own economy and bringing it down. Subsidizing these forms of government only make them linger and put off their demise.

Fact three:
The port operator DOES have a lot to do with our “security”. They control the manifesting and moving of cargo and ARE privy to security related documents and operations. Knowing that even today only a small fraction of our cargo containers entering this country are screened thoroughly how hard can it be for someone that handles the day to day movements of ships and cargo to “help” a dangerous load get past security? Answer: not hard.

Fact four:
The U.A.E has a history of not being all that helpful in combating terrorism despite some progress in the past couple years. First, they supported the Taliban. Second the refuse to recognize Israel’s right to exist. Third there are credible reports that one of the attempts to get bin Laden was halted because of the presence of a representative of the government in the area with bin Laden. What else? The U.A.E. is reportedly a major access point for illegal shipments of nuclear components to Lybia, Iran, and North Korea. Or how about that money to fund the 9/11 hijackers came through the U.A.E. banking and the Treasury Department reported that after 9/11 the government was not being helpful in tracking down Usama’s bank accounts?

Fact five:
Jimmy Carter thinks the deal is “ok”. This is the same man that brought us the Ayatollah Khomeini and a nuclear North Korea while trashing President Bush abroad. Would you trust this man? Ok, let me clarify that. Would you trust this man if you weren’t a raving rabid liberal moonbat?

See, not ONE of those reasons has anything to do with “race” or “religion” of the region. And I think I have demonstrated that I understand quite a bit about the situation.

And you know what? I still come to the same opinion and that is “NO” to the deal. Some people however have said to me though that Congress does not have the power to stop this deal – despite as much as they claim to be against it. I say baloney! Grab your Constitution and turn to Article I, Section 8.

It says clearly “Congress shall have Power … to regulate Commerce with foreign Nations”. And last time I looked “commerce” meant the exchange of goods and services. If managing our ports is not a “service” and hence “commerce” then I don’t know what is.

And see? I’m still not a racist, bigoted, islamophobe ignorant on the issues either.

Politics- Is It Good At All http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/politics--is-it-good-at-all.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/politics--is-it-good-at-all.html Fri, 03 Mar 2006 00:00:00 -0600 peace and prosperity in the society. It depends on both their decisions and participation of people. It is true that political decisions and activities affect all aspects of people's lives. An inspired leader can bring a new life to a society. But a leader who changes like seasons brings nothing but unstability.

Right from start of elections, candidates go on talking glibly about their plans to work for the benefit of all. They give speeches, hold rallies, fund raisers and waste precious money and time- just for power. It's after they are elected, their ambiguous talk is exposed. Elected representatives often get portfolios for which they are totally unqualified. Imagine an illiterate politician becoming a minister for education. Hard to believe but is commonplace in many backward countries. Such a man will be totally incompetent for office and may end up spoiling the education system. The common man won't be able to do a thing except watching promising careers and dreams fade away into oblivion.

It's nothing new that money gets decisions reversed. Bribe more than your adversaries and the decision or policy will be in your favour. Cigarette and liquor companies with backing of billions of dollars put public health on the path of deterioration. The governments do nothing. This was brought to light after so many years when a big tobacco companies were ordered by the American courts to dole out billions of dollars to people suffering from diseases acquired by smoking. Construction companies cut off trees in hundreds and thousands to build new towers and buildings. All with no objections from the government. The environment suffers.

In most cases common people get most affected while not even being fully aware of the reasons. Thats the whole irony of it. Most decisions and policies get formed without the peoples say. They are helpless watchers of the whole game.

"Last Warning" This! http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/last-warning-this.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/last-warning-this.html Sun, 12 Mar 2006 00:00:00 -0600
Granted with our porous borders it is possible that there are many al-Qaida operatives here in the States just waiting to strike us. And we know that since 9/11 with added security measures and vigilant patriots we have turned up several cells and plots. Yet the next massive attack has not happened.

On March 10th Rakan Ben Williams, "al-Qaida undercover soldier" as he calls himself issued to the U.S. a "last warning". His statements were bold.

"there will be no one to analyze and investigate, because the mind and the heart will be unable to comprehend it. ... This will not be a single operation, but two; one bigger than the other, but we will begin with the big one and postpone the bigger one, in order to see [how] diligent the American people is [in preserving] its life. If it chooses life, [it must] carry out the demands of the Muslims, and if it chooses death, then we are its best perpetrators."
-------
"Let me now inform you why we opted to inform you about the two operations and your inability to stop them before they are carried out. The reason is simple: You cannot uncover or stop them except by letting them be carried out. Furthermore, the best you could do would be to accelerate the day of carrying out the operations. In other words, if we schedule the operation to take place tomorrow, the best you could do is to make it happen today."
-------
"This indeed is a sweet situation to be in. It is a win-win all the way for us. It is the ultimate control and the most stunning way to stop an operation (accelerating it with the same impact). What we are saying is this: You will have a choice of either let us carry it out on our own schedule and with our own hands or allow your own intelligence apparatus to cause it to happen. This second choice will cause a level of dissatisfaction (with your decision makers) to reach its highest level. Therefore, your Homeland Security agencies would have no choice but to surrender and wait for the inevitable to happen."
-------
"O you helpless Americans, especially those living in States far away from Washington, D.C.!" he says. "Your country is comprised of many states that should not have anything to do with Muslims. Take the state of Arizona for example; what does this state have to do with killing Muslims in Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq? What interest is it of theirs serving, helping, and siding with the Jews and Israel? If some members of your Congress and Senate are being used as Jewish tools manipulated by Israel, why do you bear the consequences? Why do you bring death and destruction to your homes and lives in an apparent sacrifice for a handful of dishonest men and women?"
-------
"The operations are ready to go, we are just waiting for orders from the commander in chief, Osama bin Laden (may Allah preserve him). He will decide whether to strike or to hold. We swear by Allah that there are so many tricks and tactical maneuvers that will make your heads spin, by the grace of Allah. You will be brought to your knees, but not until you lose more loved ones and experience significant destruction.
-------
"Now is the time to wake up and dust off this state of complacency and ineffectiveness to save yourselves and your loved ones from catastrophes sure to come your way. Remove war mongers from positions of power and throw them in prisons, where they belong. Rid yourselves of 'the Jewish pests' that brought nothing to you but adversity and loss of lives and wealth. They have deceived you for many years, it is time now you turn the table on them and make an example out of them. Rid yourselves of media crafters who deliberately kept you in the dark for so long and made a mockery of you before the rest of the world."

Funny. I'm not impressed.

Am I supposed to be scared Mr. Williams? Because I'm not. I'm sure that there are many in this country however that are. But they are the same political retreads that always doubt the superiority of America, our military, and our people time and again. They are the same people who claimed their would be 10,000 body bags required to bring our soldiers home in if we tried to take Baghdad. They are the same people that think evil can be negotiated with as they tried with Hitler. They are the same isolationists who call for America to step back from the world stage and let everyone else have at each other which brought us two world wars.

I'm not scared. Not in the least. Oh, I know there is another attack coming on American soil. That is inevitable as long as their are those that are beholden to evil upon this world. We cannot be right all the time, which is what would be required to stop all threats.

So bring it on. If you thought the shock and awe that was unleashed upon your fellow devils after 9/11 was something you just wait and see what the fire and brimstone will be unleashed upon your kind will be like if you try anything on American soil again.

I find it so odd that al-Qaida brags so much. Their leader, the mighty Usama bin Laden is hiding in a cave somewhere while his foot soldiers in Iraq have turned to (as they always do) slaughtering women, children and Iraqis trying to replace the dictatorial Saddam Hussein with something better. They try to take on our soldiers and might succeed in kill a few brave men and women each time but their losses are far more devastating when they dare try and attack.

While President Bush and our leaders do not hide. They go to Iraq, Pakistan and other countries abroad and with complete public knowledge. They do not cower. Yet the cowards do.

We hear talk from people like Mr. Williams and Usama the has been about how martyrdom is so great yet they do not strap the bomb belts upon their own persons.

Go ahead, strike at America again. And do so at your own peril. There is a special place that is reserved for you and it is certainly not in Heaven. And believe me, there are no virgins where you will be going either. And we will be more than happy to send your cowardly behinds there with all due haste. This is your "last warning".

EU to Boost Energy Coordination http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/eu-to-boost-energy-coordination.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/eu-to-boost-energy-coordination.html Mon, 27 Mar 2006 00:00:00 -0600
Jose Manuel Barroso, president of the European Commission, said: "I'm very delighted that the leaders are backing our call for an energy policy for Europe, that it makes sense to have a common strategy for Europe." Barroso said he would meet the national coordinators - dubbed "Mr. Lisbon" - next Tuesday to discuss further steps in pushing the Lisbon strategy, which was put forward in EU's Lisbon summit in 2000. Barroso told reporters that the start-up of EU common energy policy was the greatest achievement of the gathering and would be remembered in the history of European integration: "I think one day when you write the history of European integration, we will say energy policy for Europe was born on March 23 and 24, 2006"

Wolfgang Schussel, the Austrian chancellor, whose country holds the bloc's rotating presidency, said a lot of work remained but decisions made on Thursday would lead to a total change of EU energy policy within the next decade. He said more energy cooperation would leave it up to each national government to choose a mix of energy.

Angela Merkel told reporters the leaders had chosen not to opt for a formal energy policy - which would have meant more powers for the European Commission - but to achieve more coordination "regarding security of supply or in negotiations with our partners who provide energy in the shape of oil and gas."

In a conclusion issued at the end of their two-day summit, the EU leaders agreed to carry on with the revised Lisbon strategy and stick to their adopted national reform plans which would be monitored and evaluated annually by the EU executive European Commission.

IN THE MEMORY OF TERROR VICTIMS* http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/in-the-memory-of-terror-victims%2A.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/in-the-memory-of-terror-victims%2A.html Fri, 31 Mar 2006 00:00:00 -0600 In this manner, we observe that in time, the geographical borders change. During the end of 80’s and the beginning of 90’s, we all witnessed the collapse of one of the biggest actors of the old era. It is not possible to talk about a bipolar world anymore. The competition has ended with the victory of liberal democracy. The collapse and division of Russia caught the interest of businessmen in the developed countries of the world. They directed their attention to the Central Asian Republics (the brother republics). The world then started to have a more peaceful vision for the future with the hope of revival. The US forgot about while global peace while it spent all its energy to prevent global war. In the opinion of Pentagon strategists, to the extent that they were related with the matters, the status of America, having the only super power army of the world was not something to be operated; rather it was something to be preserved and hence the future was something unknown, they presumed that they had to be protected against all possible futures and all possibilities. When they presumed that certain big enemies could have emerged in the long run, they decided that the best policy for America would be to wait and see what would happen.

This was better than consuming valuable resources for controlling the world. The big strategy was to avoid big strategies. I know it could seem unbelievable but many people were presuming that various “big plans” were pursued by US. However, what is amazing is that, we run after a vision to replace what America had fought for so many years to stand against the Soviet Power. Until 9/11, the concepts adopted by Pentagon for the perception of the world in a detailed manner were “anarchy” and “uncertainty” pursuing the impossibility to have a perspective opinion about the world in the potential future. Until 9/11, we had at least an enemy to whom we could connect all this “anarchy” and “uncertainty”. This was at least no somebody created in absolute meaning, it was an enemy that still permitted us to define and assume terrible futures that had to be prevented.(1)

After the tragedy of 9/11, which took the lives of more than 2,800 people, the signals for the beginning of World War II were observed. The bandit countries were determined and a new concept against “Terrorism” was constituted (2). You can now find the enemy at your home! And this enemy is not a country, it’s a way of thinking – way of life! This was briefly named as the Islamic terror or the Islamist Terror. Yes, this is a conflict of new value systems in a way. Let’s read how Samuel P. Huntington expresses this conflict:

The basic problem for the west is not Islamic fundamentalism. This problem is Islam itself, in other words, it is a different civilization in which its population is persuaded about the superiority of their culture and has transformed their lack of power into an obsession. The problem of Islam on the other hand is not CIA or the US Ministry of Defense, but it’s the West itself; they believe in the universality of their culture, which is true and they believe that their superior power, Which has become somewhat weaker in time, imposes on the obligation to spread this culture to the World. These are the basic factors lying behind the conflict of Islam and the West (3 ).

Terrorism has gained a new global dimension. The states on the other hand are trying to prevent mass destruction weapons and threats of global terrorism in a more careful manner and with more serious budgets. The biggest indicator of this is the mission assumed by the military coalition of NATO to respond and prevent the threats of mass destruction weapons (4). Well!

Will all these measures taken be able to prevent the terror that is much likely to be seen? I don’t think so. This is because of the fact that the source and focus of point of terrorism are civil persons. In other words, those that make terrorist attacks are comprised of civil persons (and specifically persons that have been trained in the West. The main question that should be asked is: which factors push these well educated people into the network of international terrorism? Before copying the answer provided by Samuel P. Huntington let us review the reasons that lie behind that change of methods of attacks? For instance, why were the same or similar methods not adopted during the Cold War Era if the problem lay with Islam? For instance, I cannot understand by Bin Ladin, fighting against the Russians in Afghanistan did not attack Kremilin by airplanes! Islam represents a religious value system and just like other religions, it shall incorporate in itself its self protection mechanisms such as (holy war in case of danger). What is it that transforms this mechanism into a global threat? Or is this a type of “Ladinism”?

Yes, at least the first thing that comes to one’s mind when people say airplane attacks shall be Bin – Ladin. Well! What kinds of measures should be taken against the concepts that I address as “Ladinizm”? It shall be possible to answer this question by developing human rights while taking cultural diversity into consideration the, determining the boundaries of freedom of dialogue and cooperation between People-Security forces. Finally, Islam and Ladinismm should be separated from each other We should not forget that Ladinism is a perverted perception nourishing itself from Islamic religious resources.

*Dedicated in the memory of all those having lost their lives in terrorist attacks an especially to the victims of 9/11.

The terrorists of Iraq, The Bandit Countries and Freedom! http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/the-terrorists-of-iraq-the-bandit-countries-and-freedom.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/the-terrorists-of-iraq-the-bandit-countries-and-freedom.html Fri, 31 Mar 2006 00:00:00 -0600
It is not possible to answer what the reality is without forgetting all these. However, especially the Iraqi people in exile in the lead, they are trying to come up with an explanation for the existing situation by forgetting the acts of the Saddam regime. If there is a single party bringing freedom to Iraq that is the coalition powers led by US. This is a fact. I know how important freedom is. Freedom comes first for a real person. Unfortunately, the people of Iraq are not aware of the freedom they live. For this reason, it is not very easy to hear explanations supporting freedom from the political actors in Iraq today as they are not used to it! I feel very sorry to express the population, although a small part of if, wants “pressure”. It does not mater whether it’s from right or left! The suggestions made have always been based on restricting the right of “the other”. What lies on the basis of the quarrels is the logic of “How do I get hold of the power of government in Iraq. When this is the case, the shortest way to power is “populism”! It is very difficult to talk about a political methodology in Iraq. Anyhow, the population is apolitical! The settlement of a liberal movement is very difficult or almost impossible in such a political environment. As this was not possible, terrorists started to be called as “boycotters” and murderers as “combatants”! Those attacking the United Nations, hospital, electricity power plant, petroleum pipeline, American troops were called as “boycotters”! Those attacking the Iraqi police, members of foreign companies, truck drivers, ministers of the state and political leaders started to be called a “combatants” and the press led the population to believe in this way! What lies on the basis of this fact is the anti-American trend in the press! Iran and Syria, two countries supporting terrorism are the neighbors of Iraq and this is bad luck for those supporting freedom in Iraq. The terrorists coming from Syria and Iran are supported by the anti-American press-media propaganda and are continuing to destroy Iraq, hence the people of Iraq in the name of religion and nationalism. The terrorists are supported by means of accommodation and moral assistance through the propaganda of the press and they also get monetary support from bandit countries such as Iran and Syria. Well! What do the bandit countries contribute to peace?
While Iran develops missiles to hit the Israeli land and challenges the US and Israel, Syria continues to occupy Lebanon! (1) (As far as I can see) nobody tells that the target of these missiles is Israel, and they constitute a threat for the national security of Turkey! To what extent is it true not to see the imperialist ambitions of Iran and Syria?
It is not a consequence that both Iran and Syria use the problem of Palestine. Iran uses the problem of Palestine and armaments itself by using the funds provided by the sentimental Muslims living in Europe and rich countries in order to hide its national problems (cased by theological management) and become the leader of the Islamic world. Syria on the other hand, uses the same method to get monetary and moral support from the nationalist Arab world and legitimates the occupation of Lebanon (2) helps and supports terrorists. Syria has helped and supported the terrorists of PKK that has caused a lot of damage for Turkey for many years.

To whose people asking questions such as “Well! What answer will you give for what happened in the Abu- Garip prison? Was this what the American democracy was about?” I will express that I condemn torture and I will tell them to pay attention to the matters indicated below:
1. Of course, the things that have been lived there is a disgrace for humanity, however, to what extent is it true to blame the American management because of the acts of a group of perverted soldiers?
2. Was it not the Western democracy that allowed the photographs of the tortures to be published? In the event that the same event had taken in any Arab country, which Arab channel or newspaper would have the courage to display those photographs?
3. Did you condemn the Saddam regime that has forced the Muslim population to migrate and exterminate them by chemical weapons before condemning the American soldiers? How many demonstrations took place against Saddam? How many suicide attacks were made against the troops of Saddam? I wonder if those that were killed were not Muslims.
4. Was Saddam not doing the same torture? Well the only difference is that Saddam was awarding those soldiers with medals while the American nation is punishing them.
5. America can not bring democracy if the population in Iraq does not want it. America prepares/tries to prepare the conditions necessary for the implementation of democracy. The backbone of this is to destroy the dicta regime of Saddam and to win back the international prestige of the administration in Iraq, which has been lost long ago. It should not be forgotten that democracy is a culture, a way of living.

The current and the future American management knows by heart that:

It is not possible to bring peace to Iraq and Palestine without making a fundamental change in the administration of bandit countries such as Iran and Syria.
We should as this question to ourselves: What is it that we are trying to do without freedom? Or did we already forget the lessons we have derived from the 20th century!

A Liberal Comment on the 1959 Kerkuk Massacre http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/a-liberal-comment-on-the-1959-kerkuk-massacre.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/a-liberal-comment-on-the-1959-kerkuk-massacre.html Fri, 31 Mar 2006 00:00:00 -0600
The competition to gain arms/power/supporters as a result of the dualities, which come across especially after the Second World War (the cold war period) was observed on all parts of the world in a serious manner. After the movements of independence, another factor that was dominant in the regional politics of the Middle East was the logic of Cold War. While the conflict between the US and the Soviet Union was going on, the conflicts of interest were transformed into a period of conflict named as the cold war, which was caused by nuclear threats. 12 March 1947, which is the date when the Truman doctrine was announced, is accepted as the beginning of the Cold War era. The world was divided into two poles in opposite parts and this logic was behind the world until 1989 when the Wall in Berlin was knocked down.

Each block has determined its own external politics and defense strategy within this framework. (1) If we are to explain these indirect conflicts under brief headings, all of the events to cited hereunder in this paragraph are caused by the conflicts between these two global forces: The Pig Gulf Transfer in 1961, The missile crisis in Cuba in 1962, The Korean Crisis in 1950-1953 (north, south Korea) (3) etc. As some of the countries in the Middle East took place in the “continment” defense strategy of the US, polarization became inevitable. Turkey, Iran and Iraq established the Baghdad Pact in 1955 upon proposal of US in order to prevent any possible Soviet attack. Turkey, which is among one of the most important allies of the US is also a member of the North Atlantic Defense Pact (NATO=. The Baghdad Pact that caused a reaction of the Soviets caused the anti-imperialist atmosphere in the region to become even more widespread.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, when the Nasırist and National trends during the era of 1955 are taken into consideration, the loneliness of Iraq in the Arabic world '1 See: Erasad Hürmüzlü, Torkuman we al-watan al Iraqi p171' became more distinctive. When the Haşimi Union between Jordan and Iraq are added to this loneliness, the Kingdom was ended by General Kasım and Abdul-Selam Arif on 14.07.1958 with a bloody coup. The communists were now on stage as a result of this. (5). Meanwhile the Russian President Khrushchev was threatening NATO at each opportunity. Then the US placed nuclear missiles in England in December 1957. Afterwards, 6 months later, when the NATO soldiers arrived in Lebanon to support an event in Lebanon in July 1958, the Russian Government sent an official warning to US and England, reminded the atomic power of the Soviet Union and stated that if the American Forces initiated any action against Iraq, the 6th Squadron of the US would be transformed into a melted steel mass. (6) When we analyze this era, we face the Kerkuk Massacre of 1959 which is of interest to the World and the Iraqi Turkmens. We should carefully analyze the evidences about that era:

The Massacre in Kerkuk was directed only against Turkmens

Extinguishing the Turks in Iraq had been one of the main goals of the Soviet Union in that era. Fighting against being Turk was very important for the Soviet Union. The most distinctive reason for this is the fact that the largest land of the Soviet Union was Turkish land. The domestic policy of the Soviet Union was to divide and control nations in order to preserve the artificial borders.

The central government was an onlooker to the Kerkuk massacre in 1959 When the political problems lived in Iraq between 1950 and 1959 are observed, it should be noted that Iraq was initially lined with the West (during the rise of US and the Soviet Union) and then it was in line with Russia. The “Hashimi Union” between Iraq and Jordan in 1958 caused significant reactions in the Arab World. The official policy against West as of 14.07.1958 was the beginning of the ethnic policies based on ethnic basis. Hence, in the provisional constitution of the Republican regime declared for the first time in Iraq, the equality of citizens were violated and it was emphasized that Arabs and Kurds were partners of Iraq. (7) In this manner, other nations living in Iraq were disregarded and were kept subject to a treatment of a second class citizen.

As a result, when we analyze the political history of Turkmens, it is not possible to come across any socialist movement. The struggle of Turkmens is based solely on peaceful characteristics and some sections still criticize this matter. Peaceful methods are generally a characteristic of “liberal/liberalistic” societies. However, “As long as dominant opinions are mandatory for everyone, they have put a constraint on the desire of persons to learn. The beliefs of the majority and their moral considerations closed the way for innovators.” (8) Similarly the famous sociology professor Alexis de Tocqueville mentions the “ideal type of the democratic society” in his book named American Democracy. According to this book, the fact that democratic societies are not devoted to fighting does no mean that they can not fight. Tocqueville was thinking that they would may be fight and with the fear of war, centralization, which is seen to be successful everywhere will gain speed with the success achieved. (9) In this way, the dark period started in Iraq and the only society that displays the characteristics of liberal morality is being taken under pressure by despot administrations and is being ignored. The main goal in here was to extinguish the Turkish identity in Iraq by preventing a possible Liberal movement. If we summarize, the Turkmens in Iraq is not a society displaying the “culture of violence”. For instance, it is possible for a society to use violence for solving the problems of a culture. (10) This feature of the culture is a potential as well and it prepares the basis for this condition. For instance, tendency of traditional violence is seen in Corsica (France). (11) The nature of the Turkmens in Iraq is different from all the other societies/nations in the region. The form of struggle of the Turkmens in Iraq was no bloody as that of the French* and Russian societies. They were suppressed by liberal forces without being distinguished. The only humanist liberal society in Iraq is that of the Turkmens. “As the duration of the war gets longer an d as it tears off citizens from their jobs and lives and as their enterprises become unsuccessful, the passion that links them with peace may sometimes shift to arms…” (12) The Turkmens in Iraq are conscious that happiness cannot be built on “blood” and they hate war. Anyhow, societies that have despotic tendencies make themselves known by the methods they adopt during their internal transitions and changes. As a matter of fact, the Turkmens have revealed their peaceful position in this respect. This is not something to be embarrassed of or to be resented. The democratic potential in the Turkmens should come into light at once and must have a distinctive role in the restructuring of Iraq.

To conclude, the importance attached to the Kerkuk massacre in this article is the fact that it has a global characteristic. In fact, many massacres have taken place in Iraq but must of those massacres were of “national” characteristics and were tied to a single source. Source in this article means the dictator leader of Iraq and the massacres made during the war. In short, the massacres made against societies and nations other than the Turkmens result form power problems in the national context. The difference of the Kerkuk massacre however is the fact that it is the focus of global conflict. Because, Turkmens in this area to the contrary of other nations were massacred because of their liberal/liberalist structure.

Apparently We’re Getting Amnesty Whether We Like It Or Not http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/apparently-were-getting-amnesty-whether-we-like-it-or-not.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/apparently-were-getting-amnesty-whether-we-like-it-or-not.html Fri, 07 Apr 2006 00:00:00 -0500
Speaking of Senator "I am influenced by bad money so therefor we have to regulate it" McCain, I heard him again trumpeting the claim that there are jobs Americans just will not do. And even claiming that if lettuce farmers offered $50/hour for the whole season Americans STILL wouldn't do the job of picking the heads of lettuce in the fields. Again I counter that if you take the Welfare away (and even if you don't) any American in need of a job that wouldn't work 40hrs for $2000 a week should probably have their citizenship revoked and they should be promptly deported to the Socialist paradise of France.

But I don't want to digress about McCain's continuing idiocy.

The latest non-amnesty amnesty plan is basically a repackaging of what has already been offered and the American people have sounded off squarely against. The only real difference is that, like the spoiled four-year-old, they have tried to make their request more palatable giving in only a little bit. The four-year-old who wants the candy bar and is told no by his mother then comes back and says, "Ok, how about you only give me half?" The Senate has tried the same tactic saying "Ok, we've heard you. So how about we only let 8 to 9 million of the over 11 million illegals stay? Huh? What do you say?"

I'll tell you what I say. No. let me spell that for you – N O!

What is it with you dunderheads? Can't you get it through your thick skulls that we do not want to reward illegal aliens for breaking our laws?

The new Senate proposal says that if you are here illegally and have been so for less than two years you had better leave - no, we REALLY mean it! While those that have been in the United States between two and five years will be trusted to turn themselves in and "declare" themselves and allowed to stay. Forget the fact that they have broken the law. Those that have been breaking the law for longer than five years would be granted guest worker status and put on an 11-year path towards becoming a citizen.

What's wrong with that picture? We are letting those that have been in more gross violation of the law off the hook? This is like saying we'll only execute people that murdered one person but mass murderers get only life in prison.

Here's a plan you guys and gals in Congress should consider. I call it the "You're here illegally? We're going to deport you" Plan. It's simple. We start collecting illegal aliens and we ship them back to where they came from. Gee what a novel idea!

Instead what we are left with is the Senate trying to negotiate with the American people about exactly how much amnesty to grant and to whom. I though that you had to be at least thirty years old to be elected to the Senate? Apparently however a bunch of four-year-olds got some really good fake IDs.

Bhutanese Refugees in Nepal http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/bhutanese-refugees-in-nepal.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/bhutanese-refugees-in-nepal.html Tue, 02 May 2006 00:00:00 -0500
Often the countries most overburdened with refugees are already among the poorest in the world. Nepal continues to be ranked as one of the poorest countries in the world in terms of human development yet hosts more than 100,000 Bhutanese and 20,000 Tibetan refugees. Nepals inadequate social and physical infrastructural services are overstrained by such an influx of refugees.

There are seven camps with a population of 101,000 refugees, about half of whom are located in Beldangi camp. The camps are situated on the plains of east Nepal, spanning two districts (Jhapa and Morang) which are the most heavily populated in Nepal.

To get to the refugee camps, one has to drive on winding dirt roads through fields or forested land for at least half an hour. The forest clears out all of sudden and distinct rows of huts appear in the clearing. It seems as if you have come upon a civilization long hidden from the rest of the world.

In the seven camps there are 45 schools, 40,000 pupils and 956 teachers. The
student/teacher ratio is an average 40:1 but in reality the classes are much bigger than this as the number of teachers includes headmasters and teacher trainers which are given very few periods, if any at all.

A school environment provides more than just basic needs to read and write, but also provides an outlet for children to experience a sense of normality, safety and routine after many years upheaval.

Most of the classrooms are temporary structures (often made of a mixture of brick, bamboo and grass) due to the limited life-span of the camps. Many of the lower classes do not have desks and the children are sitting on jute mats which have been manufactured in the camps during the income generating activities initiated by Oxfam. However, all classrooms are provided with a table and chair for the teacher. The blackboards are portable with an easel.
Each school has a large open space where assemblies can take place. On structural appearances the schools are identical to many seen in the rural areas of Pokhara and Kathmandu Valley.

No land is available to refugees for cultivation yet the vast majority of the refugees come from rural backgrounds. Artificial life in the camps for more than ten years is therefore not preparing the younger generation for a farming life back home in Bhutan. Most of them have not been involved in farming for the past decade and there is a fear that they are losing their knowledge and experience in the area where they will have to make their future livelihoods. Although vocational training programmes and income-generating projects have been initiated, they are not a substitute for the agricultural work to which most of the refugees will return. In contrast, access to medical care, food rations, education and training has resulted in improved conditions for many of the refugees.

A Right to Life Unless You're Poor http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/a-right-to-life-unless-youre-poor.html http://www.articletrader.com/society/politics/a-right-to-life-unless-youre-poor.html Fri, 19 May 2006 00:00:00 -0500
Really, the political left really doesn’t surprise me any more. In fact I’d say they stopped surprising me years ago when I realized exactly what it was that they stood for; not just government control of our lives but obscenely oppressive government control of our lives. Don’t get me wrong, both are bad and it’s true of all leftists whether they are in the overtly left wing parties such as the Communist, Socialist, Green or Democratic parties or whether they are just closet leftists belonging to the Republican party under the guise of “moderates”.

I’m also rarely surprised at how often the political left couches its beliefs in twisted logic and redefined terms to make them seem far less insidious. For example when it comes to abortion, they aren’t pro-abortion (even though they are), but merely the nice sounding term “pro-choice”. Ah, that’s so sweet, they are “pro-choice”. Too bad that being “pro-choice” only extends to the concept of murdering babies and not other categories such as “choosing” where you can send your kids to school or “choosing” to not be involved in a hideous government ponzi scheme like Social Security.

Heck, I’m “pro-choice”. I believe that if you decide to let a man stick his tab A into your slot B you have made a choice, the consequences of which you may have to live with. That’s being REALLY “pro-choice” but it’s not what the “pro-choice” crowd means.

The “pro-choice” movement over the years has duped a lot of Americans. Of course when you have schools that are turning out students that are not even proficient in math and English how can you expect them to understand only slightly more complex topics. Topics like what biological “life” is and that a right to it is actually protected by our founding documents for example.

But the leaders of the modern “pro-choice” movement (henceforth referred to as the pro-abortion movement to be correct in our terminology) don’t really believe in “choice” as the reason for their beliefs. They, as I stated before, believe in only one thing – oppressive government control of our lives.

And of course with that increase in government control they understand that people not quite up to snuff, say the infirm, the handicapped and the poor, are a burden upon the government machine they wish to create and manage. They aren’t stupid – at least not completely. They know that those that don’t contribute or are unable to contribute will drag down a government run bureaucracy designed to control the people.

Take for example the words of Ron Weddington who was one of the attorneys for “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade fame to then President Bill Clinton on the topic of the necessity of abortion:

“you will have to provide the means to prevent the extra mouths, because abstinence doesn't work … It's time to officially recognize that people are going to have sex and what we need to do as a nation is prevent … as many poor babies as possible."

That’s right convince the poor that having children is bad and then convince them to murder those they do conceive against the will of the State for the good of the State. It’s the typical selective reading of our founding documents that modern liberals often partake in – you have a right to life unless they decided that you don’t.

But Ron Weddington is just one of many disciples of Margaret Sanger who is the epitome of the modern leftist liberal and who helped set into motion the wheels of the modern pro-abortion movement. Originally she founded of the The American Birth Control League (ABCL) and Sanger’s colleagues like Dr. Adolphus Knopf often talked of abortion as a means to control the “black” and “’yellow peril’” that they saw as a growing cancer in America. Sanger herself said “I think it is magnificent that we are in on the ground floor, helping Negroes to control their birth rate” – Margaret Sanger 1942

The ABCL morphed into what is today an organization that we know all too well – Planned Parenthood.

Sanger herself was a stern believer in obscene government control believing much as later tyrants like Hitler would that government should control who reproduces and who does not (i.e. who lives and who dies) for the good of the nation. She believed in "A stern and rigid policy of sterilization and segregation to that grade of population whose progeny is already tainted or whose inheritance is such that objectionable traits may be transmitted to offspring"

That’s right, if some government bureaucrat somewhere decides you have an “objectionable” trait you would not be allowed to reproduce. And if your parents are poor that is “objectionable” enough to some to justify ending an innocent life. I guess that whole thing about us having certain “unalienable rights” such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness do not apply when some well meaning leftist decides they don’t huh?

Such logic flies in the face of the concept of “unalienable rights” which are rights that are inherent to all mankind because they descend from God and not the State.

But still they press onward. They wrap their demented ideology of limited freedoms and oppressive government control in the guise of “choice” seeking any that they can coerce to their ideology. When in reality the only “choices” they want you to have are the “choices” they allow you to make. And if you are poor and a burden to their proposed nanny state your “choices” will severely limited. That is, if you ever even get to make them at all.
