Each kind of educational toy is working according to a particular age group and specializing in a certain subject matter like science and math. Toy manufacturers have taken great effort and time to come up with new innovations almost every month because of the growing demand for educational toys.

In the past few years, finding the right educational toy was so easy, because there were so few of them. Now, in this day, there are many kinds of educational toys that\'s why it so hard to choose. Possibly the most popular of children\'s educational toys are those that contract with science. Children that hope to become doctors, chemists, and geologists someday can now get themselves toy kits that replicate the experience. With telescope kits, future astronomers can get to practice their profession. With animal kits, future vets are able to learn more about animals and how to care for them. There is a large variety of play devices and sets to prickle a child\'s hunger for examination and detection, which include the likes of microscopes, dioramas, binoculars, chemistry sets, insect and bug habitats, robotic sets, electronic devices, and others.

Every time we say the word educational and partner it with toys, it almost always has this uninteresting ring to it. Without sufficient knowledge about the worth of educational toys, many of us would think that these products are just a waste of money because kids won\'t be able to value them, and say it\'s for nerds.

Educational toys foster learning plus provide to a child\'s originality. These toys are so carefully developed and well designed that they insert learning into the picture without the child realizing that he or she is actually studying. This doesn\'t mean, though, that educational toys are out to fool kids into studying. It simply means that toys do not only excite kids\' senses and motor skills, but also have the capacity to nourish their intelligences.

Learning has transformed into an activity that is fun, and not just confined to the four corners of a classroom with the birth of educational toys. Because of this Schools have started to fit in educational toys to their teaching methods, especially to preschoolers. Not only children, but also parents, are changing their minds about the significance of toys as educational tools with educational toys. Sure, they may come with a heavy price tag, but the cost is all worth it. In addition, in a few years the growing demand for them will surely bring their rates down. Before we know it, educational toys will be easy to get to everyone.

Educational toys really help children in their developments stage. Make sure you get right one that fits your needs. In the market today, toys store have wide range educational toys and you can find them with different styles and designs. Be careful in choosing for the educational that you wants. Neither chooses high quality products educational toys to nor ends up wasting your money in low quality educational toys.

--
Do you want to find educational toys that can help your children? Educational toys are typically built and used by children.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Bullying is when a person is picked on over and over again by an individual or group with more power, either in terms of physical strength or social standing. Two of the main reasons people are bullied are because of appearance and social status. Bullies pick on the kids they think don't fit in, maybe because of how they look, how they act (for example, kids who are shy and withdrawn), their race or religion, or because the bullies think their target may be gay or lesbian.

Some Teen bullies attack their targets physically, which can mean anything from shoving or tripping to punching or hitting or even sexual assault. Others use psychological control or verbal insults to put themselves in charge. For example, people in popular groups or cliques often bully people they categorize as different by excluding them or gossiping about them (psychological bullying). They may also taunt or tease their targets (verbal bullying). Verbal bullying can also involve sending cruel instant or email messages or even posting insults about a person on a website - practices that are known as cyberbullying.
One of the most painful aspects of Teen bullying is its relentlessness. The seemingly never-ending nature of bullying can put a person in a state of constant fear, and guys and girls who are bullied may find their schoolwork and health suffering. One Bullied Teen began having stomach pains and diarrhea and was diagnosed with a digestive condition called irritable bowel syndrome as a result of the stress that came from being bullied throughout ninth grade. Other Teens have spent their afternoons hungry and unable to concentrate in class because he was too afraid to go to the school cafeteria at lunchtime.
Studies show that people who are abused by their peers are at risk for mental health problems, such as depression or anxiety. They may also think about suicide more.
Teen Bullies are at risk for problems, too. Bullying is violence, and it often leads to more violent behavior as the bully grows up. As many as one out of four elementary school bullies have a criminal record by the time they are 30. Some teen bullies end up being rejected by their peers and lose friendships as they grow older. Teen Bullies may also fail in school and not have the career or relationship success that other people enjoy.
Who Bullies?
Both guys and girls can be Teen bullies. Bullies may be outgoing and aggressive. Or a bully can appear reserved on the surface, but may try to manipulate people in subtle, deceptive ways, like anonymously starting a damaging rumor just to see what happens.
Many Teen bullies share some common characteristics. They like to dominate others and are generally focused on themselves. They often have poor social skills and poor social judgment.
Although most bullies think they're hot stuff and have the right to push people around, others are actually insecure. They put other people down to make themselves feel more interesting or powerful. And some bullies act the way they do because they've been hurt by bullies in the past - maybe even a bullying figure in their own family, like a parent or other adult.
Some teen bullies actually have personality disorders that don't allow them to understand normal social emotions like guilt, empathy, compassion, or remorse. These people need help from a mental health professional like a psychiatrist or psychologist.
What Can You Do?
For younger kids, the best way to solve a teen bullying problem is to tell an adult. For teens, the tell-an-adult approach depends on the bullying situation. One situation in which it is vital to report Teen bullying is if it threatens to lead to physical danger and harm. Numerous high schoolers have died when stalking, threats, and attacks went unreported and the silence gave the bully license to become more and more violent. Adults in positions of authority - parents, teachers, or coaches - can often find ways to resolve dangerous bullying problems without the bully ever finding out how they came to know about it.
If you're in a Teen bullying situation that you think may escalate into physical violence, try to avoid being alone (and if you have a friend in this situation, spend as much time as you can with him or her). Try to remain part of a group by walking home at the same time as other people or by sticking close to friends or classmates during the times that the bullying takes place.
Here are some things you can do to combat psychological and verbal bullying. They're also good tips to share with a friend as a way to show your support:
Ignore the bully and walk away. It's definitely not a coward's response - sometimes it can be harder than losing your temper. Teen Bullies thrive on the reaction they get, and if you walk away, or ignore hurtful emails or instant messages, you're telling the bully that you just don't care. Sooner or later the bully will probably get bored with trying to bother you. Walk tall and hold your head high. Using this type of body language sends a message that you're not vulnerable.
Hold the anger. Who doesn't want to get really upset with a bully? But that's exactly the response he or she is trying to get. Teen Bullies want to know they have control over your emotions. If you're in a situation where you have to deal with a bully and can't walk away with poise, use humor - it can throw the bully off guard. Work out your anger in another way, such as through exercise.
Don't get physical. However you choose to deal with a bully, don't use physical force (like kicking, hitting, or pushing). Not only are you showing your anger, you can never be sure what the bully will do in response.
Talk about it. It may help to talk to a guidance counselor, teacher, or friend - anyone who can give you the support you need. Talking can be a good outlet for the fears and frustrations that can build when you're being bullied.
Find your (true) friends. If you've been bullied with mean rumors or gossip, all of the above tips (especially ignoring and not reacting) can apply. But take it one step further to help ease feelings of hurt and isolation. Find one or two true friends and confide that mean gossip has hurt your feelings. Set the record straight by telling your friends quietly and confidently what's true and not true about you. Hearing a friend say, "I know the rumor's not true. I didn't pay attention to it," can help you realize that most of the time people see gossip for what it is - petty, rude, and immature.
If You have a teen Bullying problem, either if you are being bullied or you realise that you are a teen bully and want to mend your ways:- why not anonymous tell us your story and our readers will offer you their advice... What you do with that advice is up to you.

--
Moderator @ http://www.problemspages.com - free chat forum for relationships, career and current affair problems

http://www.problemspages.com/forum/16bullies.asp

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

The Radio Flyer Classic Rocking Horse is a modern version of a children’s toy dating back to the early seventeenth century. Notable historic figures like Socrates and King Charles I were rumored to have played with some of the oldest known rocking horses. During the 1800’s, often referred to as the Victorian era, the traditional bow rocker horse was born. Wooden toy manufacturing was beginning to increase at this time as well. By the mid 1800’s, the classic wooden rocking horse was appearing in homes across the world.

By the end of the nineteenth century, several American toy entrepreneurs were designing alternatives to the traditional bow rockers the classic rocking horse was mounted on. An Ohio inventor developed a safety stand that allowed the rocking horse to swing within the sturdy iron frame. Soon, the classic wooden rocking horse was available mounted on either the traditional bow rockers or the new swinging safety frame.

Over time, wood manufacturing became less common as metals and plastics became the preferred materials. By the middle of the twentieth century, most toy makers had ceased the production of the classic rocking horse and were instead marketing the plastic and steel rocking horses we see today. The Radio Flyer company, founded in 1917, expanded their line of rocking horses to include more modern styled toys as well.

Today, Radio Flyer still offers a delightful selection of rocking horses including the classic wood rocking horse. The classic wood rocking horse is designed after the traditional bow rocker horses of the Victorian era. Radio Flyer uses all natural wood in the construction of the horse. It features a smooth, non-toxic finish that is safe for children and easy on their hands.

The bow style rockers were often preferred in older times because of their proven stability. The Radio Flyer classic wooden rocking horse is mounted on a wide rocker base, reinforced with a sturdy cross piece, to ensure safety and to prevent the rocking horse from tipping over.

All Radio Flyer toys are built well with a strong emphasis on comfort, safety, and fun. The classic wood rocking horse has a soft molded saddle so little ones can ride in contentment. Sure grip handles are included as well for extra safety. The classic rocking horse is sturdily constructed to provide the durability expected of the Radio Flyer brand.

Standing almost three feet high, the classic wood rocking horse is one of Radio Flyer’s top choices for rocking horses suitable for toddlers. The classic rocking horse is recommended for children ages one to four years. Radio Flyer’s attention to detail in the design of this horse is one of the things that make it so loveable to youngsters. The simple wooden horse includes painted features like the eyes, nose, and mouth, and even the hair in the horse’s mane. The classic rocking horse is also bridled and ready to ride with an attached realistic rein.

Today, many toy manufacturers have completely ceased the production of the classic wooden rocking horse. The use of bow rockers has been almost eliminated by the modern spring mounted frames. Radio Flyer keeps toy traditions alive with their classic wood rocking horse.

--
Gary Clay is an expert on Radio Flyer and owner of stylish kids shop MonkeyShine

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

How to Plan a Sweet 16 Party

For many teenagers, having a sweet 16 party is just as important as planning their future wedding. Regardless if you are planning a sweet sixteen party, or a Quinceanera, below are important tips that will help you make it memorable.

1.) Decide on a Date and Time

Sometimes birthdays fall on difficult dates, and this is one of the most important factors. I am sure that there will be others planning sweet 16 parties around this time, so avoid schedule conflicts. Choose any day Friday through Sunday afternoon or evening. Try to avoid special occasions like holidays that might keep friends and family away. The best advice is to choose the weekend before or the weekend after and send out invitations far in advance. The further out you send invites gives guests more time to prepare for a RSVP. This is the first step in how to plan a sweet 16 party.

2.) Location Location Location

Even though you can plan a larger than life event, you need to keep your budget in mind. Do not stick with the cookie cutter banquet halls in Michigan, step outside the box. Pick a warehouse and decorate it to your theme or plan a tent event in your backyard. You can still negotiate rates with Michigan banquet halls depending on the date and time of your sweet 16. Also try to choose a local place that will not discourage guests from traveling to far.

3.) Who is coming and how many?

Basically, the more people you invite, the more your party will cost. This is directly related to the meal and location size. You need to ask yourself what kind of party you are trying to plan. Are you looking for a smaller low key birthday party, or a loud spontaneous sweet 16? Please keep in mind your budget and your goals. Put your style into the party by inviting the people you know or get along with. If you are more outgoing, then extend the list to those you know would add to the atmosphere of the event (more friends than family). If you are shyer then invite more family than friends. It is this mixture between family and friends that you will have to choose between. You can even throw two different parties (one for family and one for friends) if your budget allows it.

4.) Invitations

Now that you know who to invite and how many people are going, it is time to send out the invitations for your sweet 16. These are good to mail out two months before the event date. Make sure that you have all other details finalized before putting them on the invitations. I recommend creating the invitations yourself; this is a more budget friendly idea and unless if it is a surprise party, the guest of honor (birthday girl) should make the invitations herself. Tie your theme into the design for your invitations. It can be as simple as sports insignia to as intricate as calligraphy and cut outs. Be sure to note on the invites for people to RSVP ASAP!

5.) Themes

So since we brought it up, we might as well cover it. A theme is crucial when it comes to planning a sweet 16. This will distinguish your party from all the ones your friends are throwing. It is an expression of your personality and creativity. Themes can be lavish or quite. Themes usually include a color, costume, time period or place. Some companies in Michigan offer accent lighting options where your walls change colors. This will give you the added even personalization you desire. You can even make the sweet 16 different themes, just request that guests change for the second half. Click for our list of prom themes.

6.) Party Details

When does the party start? When the does the party end? Be sure to set an end time for the party so that guests can arrange rides if need be. You will also need to figure how the dinner will be served and when the dancing will begin. Most DJ companies offer event services that include online planners. This way everything flows smoothly and as they coordinate with your banquet staff.

7.) The Dinner

Even though a meal is typical at every event planned, this can take up a large portion of the budget. Food can either be catered, buffet, or appetizers. So what will you serve at your sweet 16? If you are really in depth with an international theme then choose food that mesh well with that country. Remember that your guests will have to eat this food, so try to give them options that they would enjoy.

How to Plan A Sweet 16 Party

In final consideration for planning a sweet 16 party, keep all the above points in mind. If you follow the guidelines above, planning your party will not only be stress free but fun. There is no right or wrong way to plan your birthday bash. The only way is your way, so keep your guests in mind because they are there to celebrate you!

--
Robert Reno works for Encore Entertainment.
Obama Presidency Puts Focus On Diversity

Snohomish, WA- As the first African-American US president prepares to take office, and the TV talking heads talk about last November’s historical election, child development experts are rejoicing that Barack Obama’s election will help make teaching diversity easier than ever before.

“The fact that we have someone other than an old white man standing behind the Seal of the President will provide powerful reinforcement to the lessons teachers and parents try to instill in their children,” said Linda Meyer, author of the new children’s book, The Kid in My Closet (Book Publishers Network; January 2009- www.cottagelanebooks.com). “For decades, we’ve used parables, fairy tales and stories to use as examples of how there is more that unites people of different ethnicities and religions than divides them.
However, using a real person, especially someone who is now the most powerful person on the planet, as an example of diversity is a hundred times more potent than any fairy tale or story.”

Meyer should know. Her book puts a new spin on the old ‘there’s a monster in my closet’ tale. In her book, the young monster is terrified by an ‘ugly’ little human boy who pops out of his closet. Meyer, also the founder of a shelter for abused and homeless youth, says she wanted to write a story that’s meaningful and entertaining, without being preachy.

“As parents and grandparents, we can have a good time while instilling a sense of understanding in our children,” says Meyer. “If you maintain an attitude of celebration, respect and joy when exploring other cultures, you pass that on to your children. Likewise, if you approach it with disrespect and deprecation, your children can inherit those attitudes.”

Meyer, whose book shows children that friends come in all shapes, sizes and colors, offers more fun tips to teach children about diversity:

•	If your neighbors are from a different culture or race, cook a meal together. Extend invitations to share each others’ holiday celebrations. Enjoying each family’s traditions shows children that people of all backgrounds have differences and similarities.

•	If your town has an international district nearby, perhaps a Chinatown or Little Italy, take your children there. Let them taste different foods, watch a musical performance or parade, and browse through shops and food markets.

•	When planning family vacations, seek opportunities to experience other cultures. For example, find out if there is a Native American reservation near your destination and arrange to visit during celebrations or festivals.

•	Designate one night a month to explore another culture. Help your children research and share what they’ve learned. You can cook a meal featuring that culture’s cuisine, listen to its music, or watch a video about it. You can even create a trivia game featuring tidbits about the culture.

•	Enroll your children into dance classes that teach traditional dance from another culture such as Salsa, African, or Irish dance. If they don’t like dancing, try foreign language classes which usually include lessons on the culture too.

“Showing your children that there’s more to life than their video games or music downloads helps them acquire a deeper sense of empathy and understanding,” says Meyer. “Remember, the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world. If you teach your children hatred of other cultures, you will sow conflict. If you teach respect, you will sow peace.”

--
Linda Meyer has been writing and editing books since 1980. She took a break from writing during the 1990’s to found a shelter for abused and homeless youth. A mother of two and grandmother of five, Meyer is hopeful that her latest book will encourage children not to choose their friends based on outward appearances and to seek the common interests they have with children from other ethnicities and cultures. www.cottagelanebooks.com

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

People all want to have a room for their own. If there is a place can nurtures children's imaginations and their sense of belonging, they will be very happy.

However, it is a difficult thing to decorate their room. You must pay a lot of money to buy furniture, ornaments, etc. But a few of the same principals and techniques designers use can help you create a room your child will love.

Like most spaces in our homes, children's bedrooms have become multipurpose. Your child not only sleeps in her room, but plays and does homework there as well. While a bed is the essential focus of any bedroom, keep in mind that you may need to incorporate play space, a study area and maybe even a seating area into the room as well. And you can design children's bedroom with your child together, if they can give their suggestions clearly.

Wallpaper murals are a hot design trend. They're a great option for a children's room because they're easy to install and offer thousands of images that will fit virtually any design theme you choose. Designs range from the sports themed like the stands of a baseball stadium as seen from the field, to jungle animals and underwater seascapes. To learn more and view kid-friendly mural options, visit a Lowe's store near you.

It is a fun thing to design a child's room for the whole family, and a great way to spend some quality time with your child. A good designing can not only nurtures kids's imagination but also give them a free space to share their pleasures on the way to their growth. Following these basic principles can help ensure the experience will be rewarding, and the room something your child will love for years to come.

--
hand painted christmas ornaments -- If you are looking for lspecial products, the author recommends TemplarCorp Website.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Five Ways Kids Can Help The Environment

As a kid, it might seem like you're too young, too small, or the problem is too big for you to help the environment. While the problems we face dealing with the environment are big, there are a number of things that a young person can do to help preserve and protect the world around them. If you live in a Capitola Condos, you can still help preserve the natural world and make it a more enjoyable place. Here are a few things that you can do to help save the world. What matters is that you can make a difference at your age regardless of where you live.

Conserve Electricity

The more we use electricity, the more greenhouse gases we release into the air, and the more of our resources we consume. While using electricity isn't necessarily a bad thing, being wasteful is. Instead, think before you turn on the television, or that lamp next to the couch. Could you survive without the television for another hour? Can sunlight provide the light you need? If so, consider making use of the sunlight or playing with your friends. And of course, when you're done, be sure to turn off the computer, television or light. The less electricity you use, the better. In a Capitola condo, you have a smaller space to heat and clean and cool, so you can help right there by monitoring how much water and electricity you use each month. Figure out ways to save.

Conserve Water

Just like electricity, the amount of water you use can greatly affect the environment around you. By doing such simple things as taking shorter showers, or turning off the water when you brush your teeth, you can help conserve water. Even just having your parents load the dishwasher in your Capitola condo once a day instead of twice can make a real difference. The more water you conserve, the more will be available for animals, drinking, and the planet.

Use Alternate Transportation

One of the easiest ways to help the environment is to use your feet to get to the place you want to go. By walking, riding your bike, or even using public transportation, you can help reduce the amount of pollution being forced into the air by cars on the road. The design aspects of a Capitola condo is such that public transportation is close at hand. While it might not seem like much, together with your friends you can have a big impact just by walking to the store instead of getting a ride in a car.

Get Outside and Volunteer

If you want to do something more than just turning off the television or taking shorter showers, it's easy to take an active role in helping the environment. As you're walking to school, pick up some of the litter you find on the ground. Get together with some of your friends and talk to the park district in your area. They probably will have recreational areas that need to be cleaned up, or trees planted. Or you can help your school organize fund raisers for such things as an endangered species, or even the World Wildlife Fund.

Tell Adults What They Can Do

Believe it or not, sometimes telling adults what to do can be a great way to help the environment. By encouraging your parents, teachers, and neighbors to make environmentally good choices in what they do and buy, you can help them make an impact as well. That, along with the good choices that you make the world can become a better place. Maybe you can suggest a class project and get your class involved?

--

Gregg Camp is an experienced Santa Cruz Real Estate Broker. They are also present in schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder.

Bipolar disorder typically develops in late adolescence or early adulthood. However, some people have their first symptoms during childhood, and some develop them late in life. It is often not recognized as an illness, and people may suffer for years before it is properly diagnosed and treated.

Bipolar disorder may be a frequent co-morbid condition among children who have experienced early chronic maltreatment, such as physical and sexual abuse or neglect. Bipolar teenagers can have dramatic mood changes within a single day and may have different symptoms than adults.

There is a strong genetic component to this disorder, and parents who severely maltreat their children are themselves likely to suffer from significant mental health issues, such as bipolar disorder.

Signs and symptoms of Bipolar Disorder:

Bipolar disorder causes dramatic mood swings—from overly "high" and/or irritable to sad and hopeless, and then back again, often with periods of normal mood in between. Severe changes in energy and behavior go along with these changes in mood.

•	Increased energy, activity, and restlessness
•	Persistent sad or irritable mood
•	Loss of interest in activities once enjoyed
•	Significant change in appetite or body weight
•	Difficulty sleeping or oversleeping
•	Physical agitation or slowing
•	Loss of energy
•	Feelings of worthlessness or inappropriate guilt
•	Extreme irritability
•	Poor judgment
•	A lasting period of behavior that is different from usual
•	Increased sexual drive
•	Provocative, intrusive, or aggressive behavior
•	Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide

Both children and adolescents can develop bipolar disorder. It is more likely to affect the children of parents who have the illness.

Unlike many adults with bipolar disorder, whose episodes tend to be more clearly defined, children and young adolescents with the illness often experience very fast mood swings between depression and mania many times within a day.

But there is good news: bipolar disorder can be treated, and people with this illness can lead full and productive lives. It's extremely important for parents to get a professional evaluation if they have any suspicion. The consequences for a lack of treatment can be great: suspensions from school, sexually transmitted diseases, depression and even suicide.

For Professional help log on :

http://www.restoretroubledteens.com/

http://www.restoringtroubledteens.com/

http://www.troubledteensguide.com

So it's very important, especially in families with a history of bipolar disorder or depression, for parents to seek professional help at the first sign of any suspicion.

--

About Author: Nivea David
For listings please visit http://www.restoretroubledteens.com Teen Boarding Schools .
Should I Immunize?

I don't know about you, but this question has been on my mind for quite some time now. Although my youngest is over a year, he is definitely not up to date with his immunizations! With all the rumors flying around about autism and the danger of immunizations, it's hard to know what to choose. Do I wait or should I go ahead? Hopefully what I have learned on my journey will help you make your own decision.

When I first started to question immunizations, I approached my pediatrician as well as my general doctor. I also turned to a family member who is a Physician's Assistant. Their answers were all the same; "If your child was ever to contract this disease, you would hate yourself for not doing your part to prevent it. These diseases are serious. They can and do kill." While I appreciated their honesty, I had to ask myself "Well, what if my child gets autism? Will I hate myself just as much for not trying to prevent that?"

I've discovered there are no definite answers and believe me, I've searched both sides thoroughly. The thing I've decided to do with my little one is take it slow. I believe that most vaccinations are a good thing. I don't believe that they should be given to our children so young and at such a quick pace. Why not start with the vaccination process when our kids hit 18 months or so? Then they have had time for their little bodies to develop and become strong enough to handle them. Between 18 months and the age of 4-5, I will be getting my child fully vaccinated….slowly. Do I know if this is the best option? No, but it is what I feel the best about.

For each of us, it is our responsibility to do the homework and be educated when it comes to vaccinations. Then with a little bit of help from friends, family and ultimately our own inspiration…make the choice YOU feel best about.

If and when you do decide to vaccinate, you may not be able to afford it. There are organizations out there that are willing to provide free or low-cost vaccinations. Look into your local "Vaccines for Children Program." However, health insurance is the best way to go when it comes to our kids. To find a good coverage program for your child, go to healthplanone. Most health insurance plans will cover the full cost of immunizations.

--
Here the author writes about Immunizations. She says on preventing your child from diseases and says to observe precautions and vaccinations without worrying so much. You may also find a good coverage program for your child at www.healthplanone.com. Most Health Insurance Plans will cover the full cost of immunizations, as she says.

Source: http://www.articletrader.com

Give Your Child the Moon and The Stars. And throw in Some Planets while you’re at it.
With Very Bright Glow in the Dark Craft Paints.
Easy to do and not hard on the Pocket Book.

You have probably heard of people doing it. It sounds pretty neat you thought. But will it really work? The answer is yes! It is very easy and very inexpensive to do also and it looks really cool!!
In all m years of messing around with glow in the dark paints and powders probably the number one project I get asked questions about is the stars on the ceiling one. Is it hard to do? How much paint will it take? Where do I get a stencil? Should I use oil or water base paint? The list goes on. In this article I hope to answer all your questions and give you some additional ideas as to what to do with glow in the dark paint.

When people think of glow in the dark items they usually think of the cheap novelties green in color and they glow about two minutes. Well hold on to your hats partners because, there is a new breed of glow paint in town that will turn those stars into shooting stars! Now the glow paints that are out there glow 12 hours in some instances. They also come in 8 different colors.

Green glows 12 hours and is the longest. Next is Aqua “which I recommend for this project’s stars” it glows 10 hours. Blue, Purple, Yellow, Orange around 4 hours. Red glows around ½ an hour and white around 10 minutes.

This is all you need make a whole constellation on you child’s ceiling. Plus it is this simple.

1) glow in the dark water base paint (for a room 12’ x 12’ it should take 8 ounces.)

2) round regular bristle artist paint brush. (I have also heard of people using a sponge. Just make it about the size of a quarter)

3) ½ inch masking tape.(To grid off you areas).

4) Ladder or step or something that will allow you to reach the ceiling easily. (I do mean easily. This takes the best part of an afternoon. So be safe and comfortable.)

5) If you want to add planets you need round cardboard spheres from the craft store. Different sizes. White spray paint. And one ounce each of all the colors of glow paint mentioned above. Also some fishing line to hang the planets from the ceiling and a stapler.

6) I recommend you buy a black light. Black lights are rich in Ultra Violet light which really makes the glow paint glow like crazy. It also helps when you are painting the stars on the ceiling.

Here’s what you do…

Take your tape and tape off a three foot by three foot square on the ceiling.”Companies sell star stencils but to me using those is crazy. You do not need a pattern. The stars in the sky are all random. If you want to get technical and make it accurate. You will need a constellation map. Taping in the squares helps keep you in order. The paint (At least GloNation.com’s paint is white but glows a aqua blue. This is nice because it will not show up in the day unless your ceiling is not white).

Then dab your brush or sponge in the paint and dab away. After you have placed what you feel like are enough stars in that area. Turn off the lights and check your work. It is actually best to do this at night or black out any windows, as ambient light takes away for the glow. This stuff is glow in the dark not glow in the day. If you are happy just repeat in the next square. And so on.

To make planets to hang, spray paint your spheres with a white base coat. Then let you creative side come out. Paint them all any way you would like. Muti color same color it does not matter. Here you might want to add a little water base acrylic pigment to you paint to give it a day time color. It will still glow in the dark. I suggest you use a color that is close to the glow color. Attach the fishing line to the spheres with either hot glue or a spapler and hang them. Use hot glue to attach to the ceiling.
