American Buffalo Gold CoinsSubmitted by bigeater2000 Sun, 13 Sep 2009
The America Buffalo Gold Coin is a gold bullion coin made by the United States Mint, which started being available to the public on June twenty-two, 2006. The most notable difference between United States U.S. Eagle coins and American Buffalo coins is that the American Buffalo is twenty-four carat bullion gold coin, to paraphrase 99.99% pure gold. The primary American Eagle coins are twenty-two carat gold, to paraphrase .9167% pure gold, while the rest is a silver-copper amalgamate. Buffalo gold coins began as a consequence of increasing global requirement for twenty-four carat bullion coins, and the acclaim for Canadian Maple Leaves, Chinese Gold Pandas, and various 99.99 pure gold bullion items.
The one oz gold buffalo coin has a face cost of $50. But as with different coins, this token value simply implies the coin is legal tender and has no real relationship to the coin's true price, which depends on this gold spot price . The look of Gold Buffalos is predicated on the design of the Buffalo Nickel, which was available from 1913 to 1938. The imagery, by James Earle Frase, features an image of an American Indian man on the front, and an image of a Yankee bison ( buffalo ) on the reverse. The front side also contains the year of issue at the bottom left, and the word "Liberty" along the upper righthand side. The reverse side features the name "United States of America" along the leading edge, below that to the righthand side are the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" which is Latin for "Out of many, one" ( a slogan utilized in many official Yankee symbols ). It also says "In God We Trust" near the bottom left, and at the bottom the official price, and below the official value the coin's weight and purity of ".9999 Fine Gold". The US buffalo gold coin is additionally minted in fractional sizes of [*FR1] oz with a face cost of $25, quarter oz. with a face price of $10, and 1 / 10 oz with a face value of $5. Buffalo gold coins at times have been produced in uncirculated and collectors' versions of higher production quality ( and high premium pricing ), but such coins have been canned for the year 2009 because of unheard-of need for gold bullion coins. Additionally, 2009 minting of the standard bullion buffalo coins have been put off till some time in the future. Almost all of the skyrocketing investment demand is for U.S. gold eagles, so that the United States Mint is keeping most of its gold stockpiles for their production. United States buffalos minted in previous years can be found in coin shops and bullion shops. But you will have to shop around to find one because there is no supply of new coins this year.
