Are You Good At Lacrosse? Then Be A Lacrosse College Scholar!Submitted by Anne Jones Tue, 23 Mar 2010
If you are someone who is very adept at lacrosse, then your exceptional lacrosse skills can earn you a college degree through the various lacrosse college scholarships and college tuition grants offered all over the United States. With the bad shape the country's economy is in, a lacrosse scholarship can be your potential ticket to finish your college education and a better chance at achieving your future goal.
While lacrosse is not classified as a major sport in the United States and does not get much attention compared to other sporting events such as basketball, American football, and baseball, the competition for such scholarships is tight and stiff. And if you want to earn a college degree, then perhaps it is time that you make sure that you hone your skills further and make your mind a bit sharper. If you want to grab a lacrosse college scholarship, being an adept player of the game is a major factor. But that is not the only thing that could work out for you. There are some tips you can actually use to increase your chances of nailing that scholarship and say hello to the college or university of your dreams. Training hard while in practice, and performing well during game time, gives you exposure. Exposure is very important because scouts tend to survey players whose names get a lot of recognition. While scouts do not promise scholarships, their recommendations weigh heavy on those who do. Sadly, not every player can be scouted. If you know you have the skills but do not have exposure, then make use of the modern technology to help you. Make video clips of your lacrosse highlights and aside from sending it to the universities you wish to attend, post them on the Internet. If you are lucky, they could garner you the attention you just need to get recognition and enhance your chances of scoring a college scholarship or a college tuition grant. Last tip, and perhaps the most useful, is that you should ask your coaches and your school's sports administrator to write you recommendation letters. Make sure you have at least five copies each and have them all signed. Nothing beats first-hand references, you know. Once you get that lacrosse college grant, or even at the very least, get reduced college tuition costs, remember that you are a student-athlete. Student always comes first. Make sure you get good grades; otherwise, you might find yourself unable to continue because you are no longer a scholar.
