College Grants And Scholarship Options For Dancers

Submitted by Anne Jones

Dancing is perhaps one of the most ancient arts known to man. And such art, if you can do it right, can lead you to a college degree. Across the United States, there are colleges and universities that offer scholarships for exceptional dancers. While not every dancer can become a star, dancing your way throughout your college career is the next best thing.

The Jessica Karrat Dance Scholarship Fund is dedicated to giving college education opportunities to individuals who want to attend college through a college tuition grant. This fund aims to give college students the chance to further their dance education or to create careers as professional choreographers and dancers.

The American Harlequin Corporation, one of the world's leading manufacturers of dance flooring materials, offers college students with a variety of dance scholarships and college tuition grants. If you want to apply, you have to be a dance student aged 15-21 years old to be deemed eligible. Also, you need to be nominated by your dance instructor before you can apply. The recipient will receive scholarships that could amount to as much as $5000 and as low as $500.

The American Tap Dance Foundation offers the Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund. This program is directed towards tap dancing students who are 7-19 years old. However, there are certain cases where a college student can avail of the program provided they can showcase their talent and show their financial need. For full-time college dance students residing in Virginia, they can apply for the Bette Carter Dance Award, a $1,000 scholarship. The applicant should maintain a 2.5 GPA or better and must be able to demonstrate financial need to be deemed eligible.

You can log online to find more information about dance college scholarships and other college tuition grants. If you can move it, then use it to get a college degree.
