Engineering Scholarship Options For Future Engineers

Submitted by Anne Jones

If you want to become an engineer yet your family's finances won't cut it for you, then perhaps it is high time you consider applying for an engineering scholarship. And the good thing is, there are a number of scholarships and college tuition grants being given out to aspiring engineers every year. The following are just some of the engineering scholarships handed out by various private institutions to help future engineers get started with their college engineering degrees.

The Wire Reinforcement Institute (WRI) Education Foundation has been providing academic and financial grants to students who are taking up structural and civil engineering. If you have the passion for civil and structure works, this could be your ticket to a college degree. Unlike other college scholarships though, the Foundation sends the funding directly to the university where the recipient is attending.

For those who plan to take up microelectronics/semiconductor engineering at the University of Maine, this could be the program for you. The University of Maine Microelectronics Scholarship Consortium offers various academic grants for students who show potential and considerable promise in the field of microelectronics/semiconductor industry. Recipients of the program can receive as much as $1500 during their initial year and would be given the same amount yearly if he or she is able to maintain the minimum GPA average.

Other organizations that offer engineering scholarships and college tuition grants to aspiring engineers include the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Institute of Industrial Engineers, and the National Society of Professional Engineers. You can check other sources for more information on engineering scholarships and low tuition programs.
