Acquiring a college degree is not an easy task even for a U.S. citizen, and a foreign student has to give evidences about paying for the studies well before obtaining studying visa. Of course, financial assistance to pay the fees becomes inevitable.

Assistance from universities or colleges can be taken, provided you make inquiries regarding the financial assistance to pay fees. There are institutions offering special programs to assist even foreign students to locate the places of aid. There are lists of direct links given to financial assistance offices listed to various colleges as well as universities. Individual schools also offer scholarships and grants to foreigners proving to be superior in the areas of study. There are educational institutions such as Lewis & Clark College that supports students who are socially, economically, culturally and geographically diverse.

Scholarships are usually given to American citizens only. But, if you find some scholarship interesting, look and determine their requirements to qualify as a U.S. citizen. Students who are keen in studying should take initiative as there is financial assistance given in the form of scholarship to foreign students as well. Some of the websites offering scholarship information to foreign students are International education financial aid and Financial Aid for undergraduate international students.

Government Grants and federal loans are applicable only to U.S. citizens. However, students interested can look for more information regarding the financial aid and eligibility requirements. It is beneficial to be creative as you may be fortunate enough to find loans and grants offered in your own country to study abroad. Moreover, there are international agencies such as the World council of churches and United Nations also to offer financial assistance to students wishing to study in the U.S., but this is definitely a tough competition to receive financial assistance.

Financial assistance to U.S. citizens is offered by the government in the form of grants that need not be reimbursed, but the foreign students have to make sincere efforts in finding places that will support them financially
