Heartland Community College

A community college located in Illinois in United States Heartland Community College is fully accredited institution. Despite being the youngest community college in the state, HCC has earned a place in the top rung of the university directory of Illinois due to its open admission and student success focused policies.

Campus Features

Campuses of the college are located in Normal , Lincoln , and Pontiac Counties . Illinois is a state that is divided into college districts and students attend the community college in the community where they live. Established in 1991, it moved to its current campus in 2000. Last building in the campus was completed from construction in 2007. Currently the college consists of four buildings on the main campus of Normal , Illinois . Three of them are connected through walkways on the second floor crossing over the community college driveway. SCB, CCB, ICB, and WDC are the four buildings. One of the unique features of its 160 acre campus is the LEED certified Workforce Development Center .

Brief History

Before 1991 the entire state of Illinois excepting the small part of Bloomington was covered with community districts. Problems were faced by the students living in the non-district areas. To address this problem basically, the Heartland Community College was established in 199.

Programs Offered

Over 40 programs are offered by the college for career training as well as transfer preparation. Apart from providing credit courses for over 5000 students, the community college also provides a diverse selection of various non-credit enrichments, recreation as well as professional development classes for nearly 8000 community members. Highlight of the college is its excellently developed sports complex providing facilities for extracurricular activities for the students. Full time, part time classes and online degree courses are also available in the college.

Admission

Following an open admission policy the college allows all eligible applicants take admission subject to availability of seats. Applications can be filed online, mail or by persons.
