If you have recently graduated with your bachelors, then congratulation is in order. You have worked hard for the past four years and have earned everything that you have achieved with determination, motivation, and perseverance. Now that you have graduated from college, you're a probably ready to enter the workforce full steam ahead. However, maybe you've been looking the entire summer so far and yet to find many leads. Graduating at this time poses some major barriers as well as opportunities. Due to the recent downturn in the economy many people who would have found a teaching job by now are forced to work in restaurants, as lifeguards, or any other job not using their degree because there are just not enough teaching jobs out there.

Those who currently have a teaching job are losing benefits, getting wage decreases, or even losing their jobs all together. Now you must be thinking what do I do now? Since you are still fresh out of school and probably without much experience, a smart thing would be to go back to school to get your masters in teaching. Now I know you must be thinking, I just spent the last four years of my life in school, why would I want to go back. The answer is that once the economy turns around and there are more jobs up for grabs, by having a masters in teaching you will be put up at the top of the list to get a even better job than you would have gotten simply with your bachelors.
Gaining a masters in education is going to open up a lot of doors for you. Not only will you be able to teach primary, but you will also be able to teach at the college level. If you have a masters in teaching you will also get paid more because you are a master in your field and schools look better when they are stacked with more educated teachers. Typically a masters program only lasts two years, but you can also get on a fast track program which should only take a year to a hear in a half if you go to school full time. There are many options when it comes to gaining your masters in teaching, such as attending a brick and mortar school or attending classes online.

It truly depends on you which option is going to work the best, for if you have to keep a job the most practical avenue would be take classes online and on the weekends. However if you can dedicate your time fully then maybe going to a brick and mortar school is the best option for you. Whichever you choose, deciding to go through with gaining your masters in teaching is a step in the right direction as it will put you in the best position possible to reap the rewards when the economy turns around. Deciding to get your masters in this economy is one of the smartest ways to go about further your career.
